I've been debating the merits of sexual revenge lately but I'm too good a person for that.

I saw that smirk, Scholar. Don't laugh. I have morals. Lycene morals but morals.

Mostly I'm too smart to be thinking with my genitalia.

Want to hear what's not a gross overstatement? The size of a certain Inquisitor's pile of shit. Gross? Yes. Overstatement? Not so much.

Let me draw a picture for you.

Normal shit -> .

Gross oversized shit -> Oo8Oo... (looks kind of diseased, doesn't it?)

11-15-1007 AR, late evening, in the comfy confines of my abode.

The hearsay surrounding otherworldly threats does not appear to have been exaggerated, much to my chagrin. My source is gentry, a woman belonging to the higher echelons of society. Initially, I was assured that I was being played for a fool, that perhaps this was some manner of local tradition or simply a form of entertainment for the pair whose company I basked in, but it seems such a trivial conclusion to the matter at hand was not to be.

I know not how to approach this, nor what to think of all that I have learned in the span of a singular day. I expected cultural shock and oddities aplenty, but not quite this. I am still not utterly convinced of the truth of the matter, but men have died; men of blue blood, no less - and of high standing. Fables do not slay men; but men disguised as such may; it is still nonetheless possible that this is an intricate ploy carried out by an opposing household, perhaps even several of them. If so, it has spread like wildfire, three fronts to be, I am told.

It is far too early for such speculation all the same, and dwelling upon it does me little good. A leisurely stroll and a drink will do me good.

It begins at long last: the war that will make our ancestors jealous

Let this be known: there is no Pirate King coming against us, there is a fallen admiral who forsook all claims of true kingship in defeat and surrender long years ago.

The Storm will be great and terrible, much blood will spill. May the storm make us stronger, may valor bring us victory, and never fear, for fear is the guardian of hate.

The first day and night spent within Arx has proven enjoyable, surprisingly so, for precious few seem to have heard of the vessel I once served aboard, and even fewer care for past mistakes, if first impressions are anything to go by. The people are hospitable enough thus far, charitable even, traits that took me by surprise - though not unpleasantly so.

Ulterior motives underneath all this affable decorum and generosity, perhaps? Time will tell.

deeper than the thundering waves,
at unfathomable depths
where nothing at all can be seen.
inky black, thick as oil
and night encompasses everything.
and the pressure will crush
bones and steal breath -
there lies the Creature with no interest
but only to feed its blind Hunger
from the sea, from the shore,
from everywhere.

our blood-stained tides -

beautiful and terrible.

Relationship Note on Corban

One of the most fantastic things about having friends is that they often share your interests and call you over to learn new and interesting things. Everyone knows one of my favorite things is music, which is why it's absolutely wonderful when Lord Corban stumbles upon a new song in his research and shares it with me. I've learned so much lately.

Relationship Note on Aislin

When I think on Aislin Ashford, it is of the few times I was privileged to venture into the field with her. She seemed happier there than as a highborn in the city. In mastery of the trails and ruins. She was a woman of sharp wit and a brave heart and, wherever she is, I pray that Gloria guides her blade and shields her spirit. And that I pray to Gild that the road home is laid open before her, when this adventure is at an end.

Commoners Bulletin V1N4 - 11/14/1007 AR (12/30/2017)

The Commoners Bulletin is a condensed version of the news, happenings, and proclamations given out in the past fortnight! If you have news to include in the bulletin, or you believe I've missed something, please send word! (OOC: Using mail is good!)
-Mae Grayhope, Commoners Council

NEWS:
*A shipment of goods bound for Arx was almost intercepted by bandits. A company of brave men and women fought off the attackers and tracked the bandits back to a hideout on the coast, which apparently had been used for smuggling. The rescued goods will continue on to Arx, to be distributed amongst the needy.

*With the arrival of an heir, the High Lord of Thrax and his beautiful wife have donated lots of silver to the Shrine of Mangata, the Shrine of Death, and to the orphanage. Gods bless Princess Astrid!

*House Keaton has started a trade embargo against House Leary. Why? Probably has something to do with Duchess Nicia Laurent challenging Marquis Fairen Leary. That or it’s about dogs.

*Princess Marian of Redrain lives! The princess was seriously wounded by one of the deranged cultists that attacked Arx. Gods bless the doctors and the healers and the Mercies. Gods bless Princess Marian.

*Lieutenant Calaudrin Estrades of the Iron Guard is fixing to marry Dame Esoka Greenblood of House Riven. Because it’s not only the nobles that get married!

*An abandoned longship with gray sails was towed into port by House Kennex. The ship had been used by the cultists that attacked Arx, though there were no cultists still board. The original crew of the Grayson merchant vessel was found aboard, dead. The bodies were all taken off and given proper rites at the Shrine of the Queen of Endings.

*The Mercies of Lagoma have organized the Harrowed Heart initiative, designed to help those that suffering from stress and trauma from all sorts of sources. If your heart hurts, seek out the Mercies of Lagoma. They can heal more than just cuts and burns.

*Under the leadership of the Palace’s own Seraph, worship of the Pantheon has been spreading more and more across the Mourning Isles. For those that don’t know, those in Thrax Fealty are not exactly well known for their strong faith. So this is good news!

*After an expedition out to Blackshore, a land that was destroyed by some awful fires about a year back, Lady Aislin Ashford was reported missing. I ask that each and every one of us pray that Lady Aislin makes it back to Arx quickly and safely. Of course, if anyone has any information as to where she might be, there will be big, big rewards, I am certain.

*A crack-down began on Prodigals (and Abandoned) inside of Arx, particularly any of those hailing from the Mourning Isles. While there was a lot of anger over this, I will again ask you all to stay calm and be patient. As uncomfortable as this might all be, the Inquisition has released word that they caught a group of the cultists serving the Pirate King. It is still possible there may be more cultists inside of Arx, so please keep eyes and ears open, and report anything you find to Master of Questions Laric or Lord Commander Silas.

PROCLAMATIONS:
*The Marquis and Marquessa of Stormward - Ford and Vanora Kennex - have announced the birth of their son and heir Darion.
*Marquis Fairen Leary accepted the challenged issued to him by Duchess Nicia Laurent. No details yet as to when and where (or, even, what this is about!).
*Lord Samael Bisland, Voice of his House, knighted Lady Joslyn of House Stonewood.
*Duchess Clover Farshaw challenged Marquessa Vanora Kennex, claiming rudeness and unacceptable social behavior. Marquessa Vanora issued an apology for her behavior, and Duchess Clover accepted. The matter is settled.
*Princess Alis Valardin and Lady Monique Greenmarch dueled. The former was championed by Prince Beaumont Valardin, the latter by Agnarr the Massive. Agnarr bested Prince Valardin, and Princess Alis apologized to Lady Monique for overreacting, and for possibly not seeing the flaws of her brother, Prince Edain, who she loves very much.

Relationship Note on Aislin

I wandered as a child. When my parents went traveling, I wandered away from them. Always. Sometimes my mother threatened to tether me in place, or lock me into whatever room we were staying in, but my father always shook his head. I always wandered off.

One time when I was small, we visited Ashford Keep. Enthralled by the forest I wandered away, and I got lost. Very, very lost. I didn't know where I was or where I was going. I couldn't find my way back. I don't know how long that I wandered-- an entire day, at least, had passed. The sun has sunk low, and I started to become afraid. A forest during the day is a wonderful play-place for a little girl. A forest at night is a different thing.

Just when I was about to give up and give into that fear, a woman with pure white hair came out of the trees. She led me through the forest and back to my parents (and I got quite the tongue lashing from them). And for years afterward we wrote letters back and forth. She always checked up on me. She always thought of me.

As a child I knew one name for her:

Lady Aislin Ashford the Pathfinder.

I suppose I've been quiet as of late, though it is not due to anything in particular. Perhaps a bit of trying to find inspiration, which I stumbled upon today and ended up with a handful of hairpins thanks to it. Sometimes I need a thread, a line to follow to make a group of things. Thinking back, though, my more random additions to the shop seemed to fare just as well, if not maybe better. Many prefer the higher levels of metal, too, but rubicund is just too pricey to risk designing at my whim and hoping it will sell in the shop. Besides, I like working with steel. It's affordable and I put as much of a story into those pieces as I do for ones people request. The only difference is that the story comes from me, which hopefully isn't such a bad thing.

Finally after a few days of flailing around I finally am beginning to feel productive. I'm orginizing a Rite to Gloria (thank you Joslyn for agreeing to my challenge!) that I hope to hold in a few days, I have an idea of some short term and long term goals, such as securing a sponsor and defeating the most popular duelist in town, who at the moment I put this to ink is Agnarr. I also plan to help the Explorer's Guild in their search for a missing noble. My equipment feels subpar to many of the duelist and nobels I see, but I suppose that is to be expected. Prehaps I should find a side job? The Explorer's Guild does seem rather interesting. I may inquire, I am not sure yet though.
