While I did manage to place for the finals in the Jousting Tournament, I'm afraid that my focus on being on my feet came back to haunt me - I beat my opponent in the first bracket, and then was promptly unhorsed.

Thankfully, I was unhorsed by Sir Tristran Crucible, who went on to win the whole thing, so I can't feel -too- bad about losing.

I saw a lot of impressive bouts today. I am sure Gloria smiled on us all, and Limerance found joy in the many bonds of favour exchanged.

Esoka

The joust at the Tournament of Roses was grand, indeed. I competed and did all right. My first tilt again Silas, Baron of Whitehawk, ended with me the better. I regret that I faced him first, as it would have been fine if both of us had gone farther to represent Riven. But I was honored to ride against him, and against Sir Steve - a rather adorable Valardin knight - in the next match. I think he was a little afraid of me! But now that I've knocked him down and he's gotten back up again, we will be friends. This generally how I make friends.

My final tilt was against Royal Stablemaster Tristan, and I'm proud just to have tested my lance against his, even though I was unhorsed. He was the winner of the whole joust, coming out on top in the finals against a Valardin knight I did not know, Sir Tarrant Moore. Everyone will know Sir Moore's name now, with how he rode.

It was great fun, and I look forward to the coming melee. I pray Gloria and Limerance bless us with as fine a contest there as we had on the jousting field.

Saedrus has joined the General Seating.

Astride a dapple-grey solid horse that looks at least part destrier, Jael is wearing a blue wool riding dress worked with intricate gold embroidery. The skirts spread dramatically over her horse's haunches and a blue and gold enameled helm is fastened to the side of her saddle. Her long black hair is braided with the black and green ribbons of Greenmarch. She lets the grey prance a little; the horse seems excited and is stepping high.

6 Crimson Blades Sergeant arrives, following Tobias.

Mounted atop his snow white warhorse and looking resplendant in (most) of his new armor, Gawain rides into the tourney grounds, ready to, as recently said , get his joust on.

Aleksei rides in looking a bit windswept from rushing -- and also a bit more armored than usual, having added a cuirass, pauldrons, and gloves to his usual leathers. Falling off a horse hurts, you guys. His gaze sweeps about the crowd until it lands on Saedrus, and then his smile -- distracted as it is -- seems to warm with a certain amount of relief. He walks his horse closer. "I think I need something from you," he tells Saedrus with an expression bordering on hopeful.

Saedrus checked composure at difficulty 10, rolling 12 higher.

Tobias has joined the General Seating.

Desiree has joined the General Seating.

Eleyna nods to Valencia as she passes, offering a smile as she calls out to her, "Thank you. Hopefully you'll have a chance to meet him soon." Perhaps unusually for the normally cool princess, Eleyna is practically beaming with maternal pride. She makes her way toward the seating, strolling at a slower pace as Jiacomo leads her to a seat.

Esoka scans the crowd before the festivities begin, waving to Calaudrin when she spots him. She idly smooths her surcoat, tightens her gauntlets, and toys with the angle of her helm again. Is she nervous? Perhaps a little. But the smile on her face is bright and eager as well.

Saedrus looks aside to see Aleksei ride in, and guiding the steed towards him. Ashen brows lift and the Whisper tips his chin to the Archlector, with a delicate backwards step. Nice horsey. "Quite," Saedrus nods, drawing both the robe and the slit of his robe aside of one leg to easily remove the gold link chain about his thigh. "Your sword arm, or the other?" he asks letting fabric fall back to pale skin.

With the arrival of all the spectators, Calista Fidante makes her way through the throngs of people. The chill of Winter is met with the warmest, thickest black fur cloak that gently brushes the ground with her graceful steps. As usual, her hair, attire, and makeup is perfect. Not a single strand out of place. Not a single wrinkle in the silk. The shadowed emerald of her gaze settles upon Eleyna first and she makes her way towards the Velenosa Princess. "Your Highness. I am so happy to see you. Would you like a bit of company at the benches?"

Talen accepts the handkerchief and lashes it to his attire, the diresnake skins and rubicund plating a mix of southern and western preference. There's a bow of his head for Eleyna, then he's off and down into the field, where it's noted he has words with Preston - if tersely - as they wait for the brackets to be announced.

Serenity arrives, following Khanne.

Kael, Khanne arrive, following Reigna.

Gawain has joined the Field.

Valencia stops on the stairs and turns back to smile back at her beautiful cousin. "I cannot wait. I am sure he is so very brilliant and beautiful, like his mother and father," she smiles gently before turning up the stairs again.

Aleksei watches Saedrus part his robe with a moment's sudden surprise, and then he bursts out laughing. "Well, that's personal," he says, sounding pleased nevertheless. He considers for a moment, then slides off the horse and sets himself between it and Saedrus. "Well, I won't be using a sword, but best to favor that arm," he says with lower warmth, offering his right arm for it.

Serenity have been dismissed.

Aureth laughs a little with a huff of breath past his teeth as Saedrus pulls that particular favor out of that particular place. "Lovely," he says. He shifts seats, winding his way around several other people so that he can claim a seat closer to the Whisper. He says, "Hey," to Saedrus, and then gives Aleksei a big thumbs up as he drops into a drapey lounge on the bench. "Knock 'em dead, Lucky," he says, like he thinks it's funny. "With your big long," a beat's pause, "stick."

Calaudrin files into the stands, sitting back to take a seat after waving to Esoka down below. He hasn't arrived with anyone and appears content to sit quietly there and watch the matches.

"I really do hope it is his stick he's using," comments Tristan dryly from his spot on the field. "The alternative would be painful."

Katarina has left the High Booth.

Katarina has joined the Field.

Reigna has joined the General Seating.

Jael has joined the Field.

Khanne has joined the General Seating.

As Calista addresses her, Eleyna's lips curve into a smile and she nods, murmuring something to Jiacomo, likely instructing him to find a pair of seat now. She glances at the Duchess of Tor and murmurs with a grin, "I can't think of better company. I'm here to watch Talen joust. And hope he doesn't kill someone's horse." She pauses and clears her throat. "Accidentally, of course."

Kael has joined the General Seating.

"It is incredibly important to me, actually," Saedrus quips, sidelining about the horse to push on his toes and link the chain about Aleksei's sword arm. "It was the first item of jewellery I ever bought myself after becoming a courtier." So there. A look is passed up at Aleksei when Saed finishes fastening the piece, brushing a light kiss to the man's knuckles before he steps back. Way back. Way way back from the horse and Aleksei. "Ride hard," he chortles, head turned to smile to Aureth, "with his big, long stick."

Horses in Crimson Blades kit ride up to the the tourney grounds bearing Tobias and his bodyguards, and they are tied off to the resting grounds. Tobias and his retinue are clad in their usual tunic and chainmail, though with the addition of winter fur cloaks. Taking a moment to look around, the bald man sweeps his gaze around, before walking over and taking a seat in the general seating. The Mercenary General sits in front, while the six bodyguards take up seating behind him, his left hand idling on the sword hilt at his waist.

Valencia has joined the General Seating.

Eleyna has joined the High Booth.

Aureth returns Saedrus a grin for his smile, and then gives Tristan a big thumbs up across the distance between them.

As people trickle in the Prince of Sanctum Rises from his seat in the Judges Stand, "Thank you all for coming to the finals of the Jousting, for this, the Tournament of Roses! I will keep my greetings to you brief so we can watch some of the finest riders and knights and warriors in all of Arvum show us what the do best! Remember to give out your favors and remember your cheers!" Edain holds up a hand, "Blood makes the Grass Grow!" as he he belts out his favorite cheer!

He then clears his throat, slightly chagrinned and looks to his guests in the booth and says, "Everyone please welcome our guests of honor today, His Majest, King Alaric Grayson IV, and the Palace Seraph Ailith, Seraph Ailith, as the Tournament of Roses is an anchient event that also honors Limerance, would you honors us with a few words and maybe a blessing?"

Calista has joined the High Booth.

With a tight embrace to Caelis, Katarina slips from the high booths to make the painstaking journey down unto the fields. Before she gets there, the young princess moves aside to the Keaton couple, curtsying deeply before the Countess and Count before dipping in to give a hushed word.

Esoka retrieves a little charm coin from her pocket and holds it up in Calaudrin's direction. Engaging in some obnoxious waving of it. Before it's tucked with care in a little pouch she's arranged on her saddle. She then resumes waiting respectfully, giving her attention to Edain. And Alaric, when the king is pointed out. A little bow toward him, from where she sits astride the horse.

white-tailed eagle arrives, following Mia.

Preston looks up from the lists towards the judges box, and spying the Seraph a bow is given up to her and to the others in the box before he turns to take his helmet from one of the Templar squires and slides it up onto his head. A nod is given again across to Aleksei "For the Faith, Blessed. May Gloria be pleased with our efforts."

Arriving just a teensy bit late are the Keaton contingent, the Count and Countess, bundled up in wool scarves and mittens, long cloaks and with a Lady Khanne with them. Reigna has a clay long john tucked in her arms, dressed in a crocheted cosy. As Katarina passes, Reigna waves brightly to the Valardin Princess as she makes her way, husband in tow, towards the general seating to find a place to sit.

Talen may not have heard Eleyna, yet he's nevertheless on his best behaviour. Look at him, a picture of princedom. Sat on a horse, straight backed, knees bent and reigns over his lap. The horse doesn't even have black eyes. Of course, it's darkly furred, so it might. Who knows.

reins*

Caelis watches Katrina leave the high booths where the two were sitting and talking quietly. She smiles and waves to her before looking about at the others present, letting her gaze linger here and there as she tries to ignore the chill. She listens to Edain's announcement, looking to the others in his booth.

6 Thrax Guards arrives, following Fatima.

Alaric stands up to wave at Edain's acknowledgment, smiling brightly to everyone gathered, then sits back down to applaud for Ailith and give her his attention.

From the Judge's Box, the Palace Seraph rises and steps into the light which causes the embroidery of her formal robes to glisten and sparkle, highlighting the sigils of the Pantheon. The blessing begins with an irenic tone that projects with the practiced intonation of a priest skilled at addressing at a crowd from long distances.

"O Limerance, Lord of Fidelity,
We gather here today at the Tournament of Roses to honor you,
for our faithfulness, sovereignty, and adherence in our commitments,
for our dedication and perseverance to remain true to our promises.
May we humbly live up to your graces.

O Gloria, Goddess of Chivalry,
These worthy warriors stand before you,
And seek to honor you with a grand tournament.
We beseech you to turn your shining face
Upon this combat and find it pleasing.

May these festivities serve to demonstrate
Fidelity to Limerance and each other,
And to exemplify honorable combat to Gloria,
We pray our love will grow deeper as you both continue
to bless us with courtly virtues and glory.

In your names, we praise.
"

Khanne smirks as she walks to the general seating area with Kael and Reigna, overhearing Saedrus' words towards Aleksei. Clearing her throat, she takes a seat, then looks up to Edain making his announcements. She stands when King Alaric himself is announced and dips her head doing a fairly clumsy attempt at a curtsy, using her cloak instead of a dress. She then straightens and applauds with a smile.

Fatima has joined the High Booth.

As Calista joins Eleyna at the seats, she glances over to take notice of Caelis. A soft, warm smile brushes across her lush lips, reaching over to lightly touch the young Malvici's arm in greeting. "Lady Caelis, it is very nice to see you again. How have you been?" Her sweet, melodic voice is hushed while Edain welcomes the contestants and the guests. She offers a delicate applause for His Majesty, King Alaric IV and Seraph Ailith.

The gray steed curvets with excitement; Jael keeps her seat with no trouble and applauds her gloved hands enthusiastically as the beginning of the joust is announced and the prayers conclude.

Aleksei's expression softens a bit when Saedrus explains the favor, and he catches at him a moment before he can step back to pull him in for a quite direct and overt kiss. Okay, /now/ you can scurry away from the horse, Saedrus. He grins a bit easier to Aureth now. "Do my best," he says. "I'm not nearly so good a jouster as I am a swordsman, but oh well." He mounts his horse again, walking it over to the field. "Oh, I'm sure she will be," he offers with a certain wry humor to Preston. He turns his attention to Edain as he speaks, and then to Ailith as she offers her blessing, which he keeps his head respectfully inclined during.

Aleksei has joined the Field.

Tarrant echoes from the saddle, with head bowed, "In your names, we praise," bringing the wooden pendant around his neck to his lips briefly. Squaring his shoulders and turning his eyes over the stands, the knight gives a tight smile, and long dip of his lance upon spying the Keaton pair make their entrance.

Silas already wears his favor! Though it might be difficult for others to tell it's from a specific person: he has a vibrant green ribbon tied to his bicep. He casually observes the competitors milling about on the field, but seems disinclined to socialize for some reason. His blue eyes alight upon Edain with interest when the prince begins to speak, then he frowns when he realizes he needs to come up with a cheer. He listens to Ailith's blessing and offers applause at it's conclusion, then decides to make sure his helmet is on correctly...

Alexis brings her free hand up to clench her fist at her chest, bowing her head and murmuring along with the prayer from the Seraph. Then she salutes the judges once more, and, scanning the crowd, raises her lance to a certain Southern princess.

Saedrus comes away from the kiss with bright cheeks and yes, scurried away from the horse soon after. He catches the clearing of Khanne's throat and looks about to the Redrain Lady with a chuckle. "It is a very impressive stick," he tells Khanne with a small grin, stepping up into the general seating to take a seat by Aureth -- he might agree with the sentiment. Who knows.

Flame sidesteps a little, neck arched, ears pricked. Tristan, head bowed for the prayer, calms him with a stroke of his hand.

Princess Fatima Thrax arrives with her retinue of Thraxian guardsmen. As the only Thrax to come to the event and show support, she begins to slowly make her way to the High Booth. A smile and a wave is given to Princess Katarina and the Lord Commander Silas. Finding her seat in the area, she quietly slips into a seat and crosses her legs with hands folded and held in her lap. This should be interesting, it had been ages since she had seen a good joust.

"Duchess Calista, it's very nice to see you. I'm well, and you?" She asks with a warm smile. "Not too cold I hope? I still am not used to the winters here honestly." She confides cheerfully and tucks her hands into the folds of her skirt again.

"Thank you Seraph Ailith! It was a beautiful blessing and one that reminds us all of what is very important to us!" Edain says with a smile, "Riders, ride with honor and with grace and with all your skill! Just as the Tourney's of old this is single elmination, so leave it all on field! Show us your skill grace in victory, and your courage even if in defeat! May the gods ride alongside you all this day!"

Edain clears his throat then and calls out, "Master Tristan, Lord Dante Fidante! You shall both ride first! Please mount up and take your places!"

Saedrus bows his head to Ailith's words, smiling when he rises again and looks towards the judging booth.

Sitting atop a large Palomino colored horse with white rose inspired tack upon it, Dante has the visor of his helm pinned up and out of the way as he waits for the joust to begin. As the King is named the guest of honor, Dante looks to the man and raises a gauntleted fist in a salute of greeting before glancing aside to Talen. "This is Calista's horse, if you get ideas..." Dante winks and hears his name, moving to drop his visor and pin it into place. "Here we go." Comes the tinny sound of his voice, reachign for his lance from his servant.

Ailith smiles jovially to the High Lord, murmuring softly to him, before taking her seat.

Aureth claps for the public display of affection like a truly obnoxious friend. "For Limerance," he says, "and Gloria, amen to that." Leaning forward, he braces his arms across his lap.

With a perfumed kerchief won from Countess Reigna as her token, Katarina withdraws from the couple with a dimpled smile, her delight palpable, with one last wave offered toward them both, Fatima, and Caelis, before she scurries off into the field to mount her steed.

Felicia doesn't say word. She bows her head politelyuduring the prayer and then turns again, studying the field once it is over. The redhead reaches up and briefly fiddls with the long ,neat braid she is wearing. A nervous gesture, certainly. She pauses for a moment and then toes the ground in front of her lightly.

Kael escorts his wife toward the general seating, conversing with her and Khanne as they travel. It's just idle chit-chat however, nothing of true worth. Oh it's crowded, and no, it isn't too chilly (that, to his wife). When Katarina approaches him, Kael is bowing his head in humble manner, though whatever exchange transpires there inspires a surprised look, followed by a swift grin and a deeper nod of his head. He travels on and, spying Sir Tarrant, he inclines his head deeply toward the man as well as offer an encouraging look.

Tristan has no servant, and no roses. He selects a lance, and sets it in place, and adjusts his shield. He inclines his head as he passes by the judges' booth, acknowledging those present, and turns toward the field.

Esoka closes her eyes as the seraph prays. She murmurs something low to herself, in the tongue of the Crownlands shavs, as it finishes. It sounds vaguely like a prayer in kind. Then, eyes open, deep breath. She surveys the field. Perhaps attempting to make some sort of strategic plan. For riding very fast at another person with a large stick.

Esoka says in Crownlands shav, "Limerance keep my heart strong, Gloria make my aim true."

Tristan checked dexterity + medium wpn at difficulty 15, rolling 76 higher.

Tristan checked dexterity + ride at difficulty 24, rolling 41 higher.

Khanne saves seats for Kael and Reigna to join her once they have wished Katarina well. She gives reverence to Ailith's words of faith and prayer, only after everyone has let the words sink in does she address Saedrus. "I am sure it is..." She is still grinning slyly at him, perhaps keeping other thoughts quiet.

Calista casts a proud wave to Dante as his name is called out. Before the jousting begins, she glances back to Caelis with a grin. "I am also not used to the Winters here. It is why I invest in furs. Furs and handsome men."

The other eurusi princess rises and cheers for Katarina in a show of solidarity. Pressing her hands to her lips and gesturing her way, several affectionate kisses blown to her.

Dante checked dexterity + medium wpn at difficulty 15, rolling 24 higher.

Reigna spies Tarrant and offers a bright smile and a wave to the Moore Knight as she walks on her husband's arm. Once they are seated, she is uncorking that bundled clay jar and producing tin mugs, starts pouring hot chocolate into the cups and passing one to her husband, looking to Khanne, she asks, "Would you like a cup of hot chocolate, my lady? It is a treat from the Wyrmguard lands."

The little vixen's eyes watch the proceedings below, but it is not the fighters that seem to have caught her interest but their steeds. A soft smile find Valencia's lips as she watches as the thundering of hooves and the clash of wood and steel echo across the grounds. "There is no poetry on earth like that of a horse in full gallop I think," she muses to no one in particular.

Tristan checked dexterity + medium wpn at difficulty 15, rolling 44 higher.

Dante checked dexterity + medium wpn at difficulty 15, rolling 38 higher.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Katarina before departing.

Tristan checked dexterity + ride at difficulty 28, rolling 25 higher.

Felicia has joined the Judges Booth.

Dante checked dexterity + ride at difficulty 28, rolling 6 higher.

It was unlike the Countess to arrive late to any function, but late Mia Riven was. As she entered the tournament grounds, she scanned the high seating and the field alike, seeking out familiar faces as best she could. One hand lifted to shield her eyes from the day's sun and its reflection on the snow. So many had gathered and it seemed that every last one she recognized was... well, on the field. The corners of her mouth twitched at that.

Alaric leans slightly over the edge of the booth as Felicia strides over and ties a silk ribbon of Grayson green and Crown yellow to her arm, grinning as he says something to her quietly.

Felicia approaches the Judge's booth now, her expression much like a small child about to be trampled beneath the wheels of a wagon. She flushes briefly when the silk ribbon is tied to her arm and leans in to listen to Alaric speak, eyes wide. "Thank you, Your Majesty." Then follows a bow, and the proper salute of one of the King's Own. With emblems proudly on display the Knight quickly hurries off to retrieve her mount.

Tristan and his chestnut trot up to the lists--and the small chestnut suddenly breaks into a gallop at no apparent signal from his rider. At first glance, the lightly armoured stablemaster and his lighter-built horse might seem to be at a disadvantage against the armoured knights, but he and his horse seem almost to be of one mind, and it makes a difference. The agile chestnut shifts just enough at the point of impact to allow the other knight's lance to break off Tristan's shield.

Khanne looks to Reigna and her eyebrows lift along with the corners of her lips. "Chocolate? It is a weakness.. I would love some, thank you." Taking the cup she lifts it towards the field and says, "to the tournament! Send some splinters flying!" She takes a sip from her cup then, looking along the seating area and greeting the others nearby.

On a horse borrowed from his cousin, Dante makes his way to his end of the tilting grounds. Raising his lance in salute to Tristan, Dante kicks his horse into action, it bares up onto its hind legs momentarily and takes off, the ground thundering with its heavy hooves bounding down the grounds. Dante levels off his lance as he nears Tristan, his seating of the lance and horsemanship may not be to point with Tristan, but the Sword of Tor manages to connect with the other man, and still manages to keep seated on his horse. "Gods..." comes a tinny curse from inside his helm as he tosses his broken lance to the ground. Dante manages a similar outcome twice more with Edain before easing himself from the saddle at the end, having not been unhorsed. He is favoring his left shoulder from having been hit three solid times. "Well met" He bellows to Tristan."

Silas's squire, Arron, emerges from somewhere in the crowd with a wooden lance in hand. He was totally there. There's a slight frown when it's revealed his first opponent will be his fellow countrywoman and knight, but he finishes his last adjustments to his armor and rides up alongside to take the lance. Esoka is given a salute from across the way once they have both taken their positions...

Felicia has left the Judges Booth.

Felicia has joined the Field.

Preston claps his hands together as the third pass ends, with Tristan claiming all three. The clap is deadened somewhat by the heavy leather gloves worn under the gauntlets, but still, he is smiling under his helm "Gloria will be pleased - an honourable bout." The Templar turns back to the other jousters gathered by the lists and nods to Prince Talen "You may well be right about our chances, your highness. There seems to be a great deal of skill on display today."

"And our very first bout is one of amazing precision and technique! Lord Dante was unyeilding and though he broke 3 lances, He refused to be knocked form his saddle! Honor to all!" Edain calls out with clarion confidence, "Now next, the great Dame Esoka and our own Lord COmmander Silas shall face off! Riders at the ready!"

Tristan turns Flame, the ruddy stallion's hooves pounding against th turf, and raises his lance in salute to Dante. "Well ridden," the stablemaster calls back, and rides to the edge of the field, slowing the stallion to a walk.

Esoka is sitting atop her horse in her appointed spot on the field, ready to ride. And so she does, when it's her turn. She gets her lance, fixes it, Silas is offered a salute, and she takes her place.

Ailith spiritedly joins in the applause from the crowd for the first match - Tristan and Dante. She leans back to retort to those at the judges booth.

Silas checked dexterity + ride at difficulty 31, rolling 4 higher.

"You can do nothing but respect those from the Oathlands with their talents in jousting," Talen confirms again, for Preston now, with a tilt of his head. "It's a shame about the rest of their preoccupations. Tea and scones, it's really not very exciting, is it," drawls individual once dubbed the 'dark knight'. Under him, his horse grows restless, which results in a mild growl from the prince. "Stay still," he orders his angsty steed.

Aureth calls, "Oi, stablemaster, nice ride!" from the stands like a brat.

Naturally the first match of Esoka's would be against Silas. Calaudrin looks rather torn on who he should be cheering for and instead just does a lot of clapping because he can't possibly get in trouble for that by anyone.

Talen is overheard praising Silas for: No... don't go.... /s

Tristan calls back to Aureth, "I choose to believe that's not a double entendre at all."

Servant having helped him out of his shield and helm, Dante cradles his left arm against his armored chest, Tristan managed some pretty stout hits. He watches the next tilt and see's Silas dropped, he claps his right hand against his right thigh. "Well done."

Talen checked strength + medium wpn at difficulty 15, rolling 31 higher.

Jael checked dexterity + medium wpn at difficulty 15, rolling 16 higher.

Aureth leans on his elbow and props his chin on his fist, glint of humor bright in his pale eyes, and neither confirms nor denies that, turning his gaze to the Knight versus Baron battle going on currently ahorse instead.

Esoka isn't a flashy rider, but she's competent and knows her horse well by this point. She's also strong as an ox, which comes in handy when bracing yourself to //stay// on said horse. And when shoving lances at other people. Her first two passes at Silas end in dramatic lance breaking. The last, it looks like she will almost collide with him. But she manages to steady herself, get her horse on a non-crashing path, and smack her opponent's shield but good. The results make her grin. "Perhaps this thing Calaudrin Estardes gave me is lucky! I was skeptical." But, working so far.

Fatima has left the High Booth.

6 Thrax Guards leaves, following Fatima.

"An Amazing bout! Lord COmmander Silas, Dame Esoka, you both rode with great honor!" He looks down at his lists, "Prince Talen, Lady Jael! You are both next! Riders at the ready!"

Silas remains in his saddle during the first two passes, but it's clear his opponent is the better horsewoman. The third pass is particularly brutal, and Silas is sent sprawling into the dirt. Thankfully, he's in his rubicund armor, and thus manages to survive. After a long moment he gets back to his feet, amongst all the splintered lances he wrought, and offers Esoka yet another salute before he ambles off.

Talen checked dexterity + ride at difficulty 23, rolling 21 higher.

Saedrus chortles from his place by Aureth and shakes his head. Evergreens widen a little as Silas is dehorsed and the Whisper winces. It's fine. He's not panicking.

Jael has rolled a critical success!
Jael checked dexterity + ride at difficulty 26, rolling 75 higher.

Reigna watches as Lady Jael takes the field and launches to her feet, tins of hot chocolate set abruptly down, as she cups her hands to either side of her mouth and yells, "LADY JAEL! You can do it!!" The slight Keaton Countess is bouncing with her enthusiasm. Her next cheers are wordless whoops of support for the Laurent Lady.

It was ironic, really, that it was the two competitors that she had most wanted to see that faced off against one another first. Mia climbed the stairs to the stands, looking back over her shoulder again, and once more, as Silas and Esoka took the field. Every few steps she paused until they were riding towards one another, at which point she simply slipped off to one side to avoid blocking the path and stood, frozen, as she watched the Sword of the Twainfort ride against the Baron of Hawkhold. It was hard for her to keep from wincing with each shattered lance and when Silas was knocked from his she gasps -- audibly. One hand flies to her mouth to cover her alarm, but it isn't until the man rises and offers his salute that she remembered to breathe again.

Kael is, much like his wife, making no qualms about being loud. He cups his mouth, rises from his seat, and calls forth in his rather booming voice, "Lady Jael Laurent!"

Eleyna leans forward in her seat, even going so far as to cheer out loud for the Velenosan prince, calling his name over the din of the crowd. She winces when she sees the lance break and mutters something under her breath that sounds, vaguely like "Don't you dare..."

Khanne is in general conversation in the seats until a loud crack from the field grasps her attention. Eyes wide, her lips pucker with an "ooooh..." before she stands up and applauds loudly!

As Talen manages to stay ahorse against his /female/ opponent, Dante claps for the other southern Sword, but he also gives a respectful nod toward Jael as she had bested him. Dante moves to grab himself a drink, rolling his left arm slowly as the feeling returns to it.

"Today is going to be my best. Day. Ever." Edain proclaims, clearly quite happy with the amazing displays of riding, "Lady Jael advances, in a close match! Prince Talen you're becoming quite the tilter!" As the riders yield the field, he calls for the next pair. "Dame Felicia and Archlector Aleksei are next! Rider's to the ready!"

When she's called forward, Jael settles her brother's borrowed helm on her head and accepts a lance from a Laurent servant, trotting grey Waldorf past the judges box and waving her lance to the King, then takes the field against Talen. The first charge ends in a crash of splintering wood as not only does her opponent's lance shatter, but she splits Talen's shield with her own. "Oh shit, I'm sorry," she hisses to the man as she wheels past unscathed, seeming to actually mean it. Then another lance broken, a stalemate, and in the final run she deflects Talen once more. "I promise I'll buy you a new one of those," she promises, but then? She kicked ass. So she raises her lance and lets out a yowl of triumph, letting her grey rear up a little so it looks EXTRA cool.

Alaric is overheard praising Felicia for: Ride well! Good luck!

Aleksei straightens to attention when his name is called, offering a quick smile and trotting his horse around to his end of the field. He takes up his lance, glancing over to the stands with a warmer smile, and then calls down the field to Felicia: "Good luck!"

Talen exits his area with a pinch of his heels, the clawed sollerets sending the horse lurching forward along the line of the the runway. With his shield tucked close to his torso-- covered by leather as he is-- he provides the perfect target for his opponent. The House Velenosa shield is backed by wooden boards, providing him enough of a barrier between being unhorsed despite the solid horsemanship dispalyed by the Laurent noblewoman. There's a glean in his steely hued eyes as he obliterates his first lance, his shield cracked and sundered, shards of wood scattered around the field. Nothing is said to her apology. On the second pass, he manages to catch up and put them on neutral ground, yet it's all for vain. By the end, Jael takes the day and shakes his head, throwing the remains of his shield off. "Think nothing of it." With that, he heads back to his corner, for the second round to come.

Jael's dark eyebrows arch a little when Talen flings his shield bits, but she merely nods and then curves Waldorf back to the edge of the field, waving her lance at her cheering section in the stands. Pulling up near the other riders, "Refreshing, no?" she says happily to whoever might be nearby.

"An amazing pass by two obviously peerless warriors, but Dame Felicia has shown the strength of of the King's Own this day! Amazing riding, both of you!" Edain compliments the pair, "Now Sir Tarrant and Sir Preston are next! Riders at the Ready!"

Tarrant guides his charger to the opposite end of the field from the Templar, setting his shield with the Keaton blazon worked in green and black and drawing a breath to voice evenly, "Sir Preston, I am most glad to find you my opponent; it is my true honor to face the first defender of the Dominus, this day. In honor of the fair Lady Charlaine Blanchard, whose favor I bear: may you ride well, sir." Completing the words with a bow in the saddle, he sets his lance and prepares to ride.

Aleksei has a solid seat on a horse, but he doesn't ride with the same easy, extravagant grace that he swordfights with. That first pass sees his lance snapping, and he shakes the feeling out of his hand as he rounds for the next pass, grabbing up a lance offered him as he goes. And then the next pass has Felicia's lance catching and throwing him bodily off his horse. He lays there a moment on the field, blinking up at the sky, the wind knocked out of him. And eventually he huffs a voiceless laugh and manages to drag himself back up, grabbing his horse's reins and making his way a bit stumblish off the field to make room for the next bout.

"That he is, Dame Esoka." Felicia waves a hand flashes the woman a bright smile before taking off across the field. Soon enough the knight returns astride a large dark destrier. Wrecking Ball, no doubt. The woman's red hair is no longer visible thanks to her helm but she is smiling brilliantly as she rides out. SOmewhere beneath the nerves. They are actually so bad that gfor a second Felicia's hand trembles. She clutches the lance more firmly as she takes her place.

Then come the formal salutes. Felicia greets Aleksei appropriately and then they are off, riding one another down. Felicia scarcely remembers to breath until the first clash is done. She takes a second to stretch her arm. It stung, even when all she did was clash with her opponent briefly. Then they are at one another once more. Felicia leans into the saddle. "Come on, Wrecking Ball... Right down the center. Right... ANd..." She takes a huge breath.

THen's the clash and Aleksei's unhorsed - and Felicia's coughing, hard. That was a mistake to avoid for next time. Still, she's flushed with success.

Alaric is overheard praising Felicia for: Wonderful riding!

Tarrant checked dexterity + ride at difficulty 28, rolling 39 higher.

"Go Sir Moore!!" Reigna's voice sings out again, cheering on the knight wearing the colors of her house. She bounces happily, or in an attempt to keep warm. Likely both! She's got a huge smile on her face and taps Kael pointing to the knight as if he could possibly miss Tarrant's riding.

Saedrus is probably holding onto the rail of the seating area to just make sure he isn't running down there because /he knew terrible things happen around horses/!

Kael rises when Tarrant takes the field and he looks as though he is going to applaud -- but he awaits the knight's words. When they are spoken he is applauding in full, calling forth, "Sir Tarrant Moore!" The tap from his wife, yes, is unnecessary. He's glancing to her to grin however, before focusing in on the match.

Preston leads his own warhorse across to the end of the lists and gets ready to tilt. He raises his lance back across to Tarrant "Sir Tarrant. May Gloria shine on us. And do not knock me off too hard, please Sir." There is a smile before he nods "I fight with the favor of the Seraph Ailith, Seraph of the Palace and in her honour. May Gloria bless us."

Alexis lets out a sharp whistle of appreciation for Felicia's bout, applauding with a gauntleted hand against her lance for Her and Aleksei. Turning her attention to the next pair, shifting perhaps a tad nervously in her saddle.

"Another amazing match! I could watch this all day! Also there is fresh maple bacon for everyone but our brave riders get the first helping this day!" And of course at this point Edain waves some attendants to come forward with plates of maple bacon to take around for everyone to get some if they would like, "Next we have Lord Gawain and Princess Katarina!"

Tristan gives his share of the maple bacon to Patches. The little dog expresses his joy by licking everything and everyone within range.

Preston spurs his horse, wheeling it round to charge down the side of the tilt barrier, couching his lance for the final pass. Though he manages to hold onto his horse, he watches his lance shatter against the shield at the same time as feeling the hefty impact of Tarrant's charge transferred straight through his shield. Preston is knocked back in the saddle, but quickly there is a pained chuckle and he struggles back upright, holding up a hand to the judges booth to show he is well, reaching up to open his helm and give Tarrant as much of a bow as he can on horse back "Sir Tarrant. I thank you for the kindness of not putting me on my rear. Gloria smiles on you - and the Faith is grateful you fight with and not against us."

Tarrant guides his chesnut courser hard into each pass, settled firmly in the saddle. In the third pass when his lance splinters, he tosses the broken haft aside, and receives a fresh lance. Raising it in salute to his opponent, he once more stands firm against the templar, his newly painted shield marred now by multiple impacts. After the final pass, he looks over his shoulder, before guiding his horse around, and rising in the stirrups to offer a full bow to Sir Preston, and the call of, "Well ridden, Sir! It was your own fortitude, and no kindness of mine, I assure you." With a final salute to the stands, the Moore knight clears the field for the next competitors.

Kael applauds for both riders, of course, though he is calling forth, "Well done, Sir Tarrant! Well done!" He does not even have time to sit down before the next pair of riders are coming forth, and, without missing a beat -- or any hint of his voice dwindling, he is calling forth, "Princess Katarina!"

Bacon! Khanne might be a bit hungry. It takes a lot of energy to watch.. and cheer. When a plate of bacon comes her way, she certainly takes some, dipping it into her hot chocolate before taking a bite. "Oathlands is the best for surprise Bacon treats," she mumbles, still chewing. When he's called to compete, Gawain afixs his helmet atop his head and guides his horse out onto the field. After giving a salute to both the judges stand and his much smaller oppoente, the knight fixes his lance and charges! One does get the sense that that he'lls pulling back a little, or perhaps Princess Katarina's dimmunitve size is a challenge for him, as he manages to miss the sweet spot on his first two passes, breaking his lance both times.

"In an amazing display of Oathland's Skill, Lord Gawain comes back from being down 2 lances to 0 with a well struck blow and an unhorsing! Well Ridden both of you!" Edain proclaims!

The last two bouts of this round are somewhat brief. Dame Alexis shows that while smol she will still fite as she defeats Sir Dudebro of the Pride Hall Brodudes! meanwhile in the final match, much to everyone's surprise, young Herald Steve manages to win 2 lances to 3 and advanges and finds himself looking nervously at Dame Esoka.

"An amazing Round of jousting! So we are now into the Quarter Finals! The first bout will be Master Tristan against Dame Alexis! Riders at the Ready!"

Despite Katarina getting unseated, the Keaton Count is nonetheless cheering toward her, "Well done, your highness!" So too does he applaud the victor -- or perhaps just the pair of them in general. He is momentarily distracted by the offering of bacon from his wife, but, bacon held triumphantly in hand he cheers, "Dame Alexis!"

Esoka cheers for Alexis' efforts on the field. Slightly less for the Dudebro, but he gave it a try. There's plenty of whistling for both Alexis and Tristan both when they're up. Steve is flashed a big, toothy smile, when the lots determine they'll go against each other. She waves a big, gauntleted fist at him. It's probably not that reassuring to the lad.

Alexis looks downright rueful, but raises her lance in salute in her victory, muttering something about beginner's luck.

Caelis is cheering for Katarina as she jousts. She calls out her support for the princess and claps.

Leading Brier on a short rein, Leola makes her way to the Tourney field. Not the field itself, but close enough to watch eagerly. She pets the mare's neck and nose as she watches the jousting, smiling - and cheering for those taking part

With a bit of a limp from being unseated from her horse in her last pass, Katarina proceeds into the stands quickly to get a good view of the pending match between the next contendors. Leaning over, her handkerchief is returned to its rightful owner with a grateful smile to Reigna and Kael both. "I believe your favor was my good luck charm, my lady and lord! I usually can never hold the lance and steer a horse at the same time," she jokes in soft humor, bringing her hand up in warm wave to the familiar faces in the general seating before returning to her old stomping grounds in the high booth, with new guests? Caelis, no!

When Katarina comes to return the favor, she is given a hug by Reigna, delicate, taking care with the likely sore Princess. "You did so well. I am very proud of you. "And Sir Tristan shows why is the master of the Royal Stables! And Dame Alexis shows why she is among the toughest of the Oathlands for that cannot keep her down!" Edain calls out as he cheers for both, "Now Dame Esoka shall face off against young Herald Steve of Sanctum!"

Reigna looks over as Valencia gets up and she rises to her feet, trying to snag the Princess for a brief hug before she leaves, whispering something to her before she goes and waving her off.

Well, Steve does all right for one pass. At least, Esoka's lance breaks against his shield, while he's desperately hiding behind it. On the second though, she knocks him down but good. She brings her horse around, to make sure he can scurry off the field under his own power (he can). She nods, plucking her pouch off her saddle and holding it up as she rides back to her place. "My charm is entirely lucky!"

"Yes!" Calaudrin calls out from his seat when Esoka wins another round. His lucky charm is /indeed/ lucky. Hopefully. Maybe. At least it is for now!

"You did very well Herald Steve! It was the most valiant of attempts!" Edain calls out, encouragingly.

Meanwhile, after being knocked into the dirt, young Herald Steve pulls himself up to his feet and manages to stand with the help of Squire Serad who was attenting him for this. "It is my honor to announce that Dame Esoka Greenblood, Sword of Twainfort, Mighty as a Grey Forest Oak, has most honorably kicked my butt!"

"This has been an amazing day of riding.. but we are nearing the end! It is time to begin the semi finals. Crownlands and Oathlands will both squire off to see who will represent their respective homelands in the finals! First up, Master Tristan vs. Dame Esoka! Riders at the Ready!"

Tarrant charges his chesnut steed hard at the larger knight of Blanchard, the green shield with the Keaton blazon absorbs a strong hit from his opponent, but the Moore lands a more telling blow in turn. Reaching the end of the lists, he turns his horse to face the overthrown Gawain, one more rising in the stirrups to offer his opponent a bow. Settling back to the saddle, he raises his intact lance in salute to the Keatons, and returns to await the next round.

Reigna is in the middle of speaking to Alarie when Tarrant scores a solid strike against Gawain and turns her words into a bellowed "SIR MOOOOOOORE!" She cheers wildly for the knight with the Keaton shield.

Preston claps his hand against the barrier at the side of the lists again in celebration of Tarrant's victory "Well, good. It always looks better if the man that beat you goes on to do even better." Preston decides before calling over to the knight "Well struck, Sir Tarrant!"

Kael is not to be outdone by the cheering of his wife. Oh no, he was right on the heels of her cheering on for Lady Joel. When Tarrant takes the field, he is calling forth, "Sir Tarrant!" and his cheers only grow all the more at the outcome.

Not so well as she did her first couple times out. She's a fair horsewoman, but fair isn't good enough today, and off she goes when his lance strikes her shield. She lays there for a moment, winded, then gets to her feet with a grunt. "There is no shame to fall to the finest horseman in Arx!" A bow, and she exits the field.

"A brilliant run Si..." Edain stops himself, "Master Tristan! You will go into the finals and ride to represent the Crownlands! Let us cheer for Dame Esoka Greenblood! She showed us all today why she is one of the finest knights that roams the Grey Forest!"

Edain lets the cheers swell for her before calling forward the next semi-final, "Lady Jael Laurent, Sir Tarrant Moore! You are next! Riders at the REady!"

Kael, for the moment, looks confused on who to cheer for. In the end he is calling forth, "Sir Tarrant! Lady Jael!" He offers forth a few swift words to Reigna and, then, begins to shout, "Sir Tarrant!" His wife, she's taking on the shouts of, "Lady Jael!" A House divided!

Khanne glances towards Kael and Reigna and chuckles. "Go Valardin Fealty!"

Having long-since found her seat, Mia watched with bright, alert eyes as Esoka rode out again. She was far more calm this time than the first bout, having quickly become accustomed to the crashing sounds that accompanied each round of the joust. In fact, she was even casually eyeing the refreshments every now and again, with a look of consideration on her face. At least until Esoka was unhorsed, anyway. The moment the Prodigal knight was launched from her saddle, the Countess was on her feet, craning her neck to see what had happened. It wasn't curiosity in her eyes -- it was concern, at least until Esoka offered up her salutes. This was not, perhaps, the sport for Countess to take an interest in.

Esoka bows to Tristan as he wrangles her horse for her. She gets the courser settled at a hitching post on the field, stroking his nose and giving him a soft pep talk. He did good! He is a good horse! He is the best horse! She also gives him a cube of sugar, which he seems to take far more solace in than the speech. She gives him a parting pat on the nose and leaves him in the care of a handy page, making her way toward the stands.

Reignareaches out to grab Kael's hand, eyes rivetted on the match. Reigna is gripping her husband's arm as she watches the match, clearly on the edge of her seat, watching intently. Her expression is torn and she cheers madly for both competitors, simply shouting, "FOR VALARDIN!"

Alaric rises to his feet as Tarrant completes his clutch comeback, applauding with an unrestrained smile and a cheer.

Alaric is overheard praising Jael for: Brilliant riding!

Ryder the falcon arrives, delivering a message to Mia before departing.

Reigna is overheard praising Jael for: Outstanding show at the joust!

Reigna is overheard praising Tarrant for: Way to represent Keaton! Well ridden!!

Ailith rises to join in the resounding cheers for a nail biter of a match. Truly Gloria is smiling on such a display!

The joust is a masterful one. Lady Jael's lancework and horsemanship are marvelous, taking both of the first two passes. Yet the match flies on, as Tarrant does not falter, landing a blow in the fourth that splits Jael's shield, knocking firmly into the Laurent rider's helm, in a moment that likely draws gasps of dread, but the Lady is well, and handed a fresh shield, the two charge at one another once again. The fifth and final pass sees Jael break her lance. With a broad smile, Tarrant hands off his intact one, and calls to Jael, "Lady, my utmost respects for your magnificent work, this day."

Esoka scans the crowd for Mia. And for Calaudrin. And their proximity to each other in said crowd, perhaps. It's Mia she spots first, and she strides over to the countess. She walks a touch stiffly, but it just //beaming//. She's carrying the little pouch she had tied to her saddle, now looped on her wrist. "Countess! Isn't this bracing? It's a fine competition. That last ride was astounding. Though my eye is still on Master Tristan to win the lot."

Jael pulls down her visor and offers a little salute to her opponent with her lance. There might be the tiniest little smirk on her lips before her face is out of view, going head to head with one of her own, and then trots Waldorf to the starting area. It is a /hard/ match, all force and little panache, as the two make their runs. Her shield splits, she cracks one of Tarrant's lances like an arrow shooting another arrow but in the end the Moore knight takes it. For the first time since the start of the joust Jael looks winded, and is rubbing at her shoulder and wincing. She shouldn't have smirked. But she cracks into a wide bright grin as they leave the field. "Fucking brilliant riding, Sir Tarrant!"

The Prince of Sanctum actually needs a moment to compose himself after that match. He grabs some pine needle tea that has grown cold sittig on the arm of his chair and splahes it in his face. There is probably some 'collateral splashing' for those with him at the Judge's both, "Ok that is the kind of bout that made me thank the gods, they let me be hear to see it! Not only a hard fought match, but a hard fought comeback! I have never been more proud to call myself the High Lord of the Oathlands than I have after watching that!" A deep breath is drawn and composure is regained, "But it is time to see who will claim the title of champion today! Master Tristan, Sir Tarrant! It is time for you to both ride as you have never ridden before! Riders at the Ready!"

Jiacomo arrives, delivering a message to Talen before departing.

Khanne is overheard praising Edain.

"GO TRISTAN!" Silas calls out from his spot on the field. Grayson represent. Even if he just rooted against him.

"GO TRISTAN!!" Aleksei adds to Silas's yell.

Tristan watches the previous match with an expression set and composed. As Prince Edain calls for the final match, he pets Flame's neck, and turns the stallion toward the lists. He dips his lance, briefly, to acknowledge those cheering for him, and another dip for his king.

Jael lifts a lance...where'd she get a fresh lance? and waves it enthusiastically. "GO SIR TARRANT! I FORGIVE YOU FOR KICKING MY ASS!" She rears Waldorf again, and encourages him to give a mighty neigh.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Edain before departing.

Tarrant laughs to Jael's retort, bowing in the saddle to the lady and summoning a fresh lance, which he dips in deference once toward the judges stand, and again toward the stands at large. He faces Tristan from across the field, shoulders high and heaving with either exertion or excitement. With a long drawn breath, he intones, "Master Tristan, it is right that the Royal master of horse ought be of the very greatest skill and reputation, which your deeds this day have well earned. I salute you, good master."

"Bracing is certainly one way of putting it," Mia replied mildly, both of her brows lifting in a purposeful march up towards her hairline. Perhaps they were making some sort of tactical retreat, given their surroundings. "A great show of skill, certainly. Incredibly impressive. And incredibly violent. I'm pleased to see that you and Baron Whitehawk have both managed to keep your heads attached to your shoulders." One hand stretched out to Esoka; once again, bracing was the word to be used here. In this particular case, she was offering the knight something to steady herself for a moment, if need be, given the stiffness of her gait.

Squee, the Flying Squirrel arrives, delivering a message to Talen before departing.

Sir Pupsalot, a polite tri-color corgi puppy arrives, following Tessa.

Reigna cheers for Sir Tarrant, her voice already cracking from use, but there is a decided lack of care. The Countess roars her support for her vassal, "Go Sir MOOOOOORE!" She looks to Jael and shouts, "We love you Lady Jael! GO SIR MOOOOORE! FOR VALARDIN!"

Esoka takes Mia's arm. She seems steady enough on her feet, though she uses the opportunity to clap the countess' shoulder companionably. "A pity one of us couldn't take it all the way for Riven. But if I had to fall, I'm glad it was to Master Tristan. There's no finer horseman in Grayson. Watch! This will be something to see. That Valardin knight rides like the legends they tell of the Oathlanders."

Kael takes a deep, deep breath, already expanding his massive chest. That's when the shouting begins, "Sir Tarrant! Sir Tarrant Moore!" That cheering is unlikely to end any time soon.

Gloved hands squeezed Esoka's lightly, as much in warm greeting as in support. Obligingly, Mia turned her eyes back towards the field. "I feel like a sack of potatoes in the saddle just watching him, in truth. But the other man...," her head canted to one side. "Something Moore? I haven't so much as heard his name before, and he's been riding brilliantly. I imagine everyone in the city will know of him by night's end," she mused. "Win or lose."

Khanne has at some point gained a refill of hot chocolate, spiking it anew with her flask. Her knees bounce up and down as her feet cannot stay still with all the excitement. She sips from her cup, eyes bright and wide as she watches Tristan and Tarrant, occasionally making calls of "ooh! Oh!" and winces when a hit seems exceptionally hard.

Mia is overheard praising Edain for: I cannot imagine that it needs to be said, but the joust was a brilliant display -- both on the part of Valardin's riders and the efforts of their Prince.

Preston is overheard praising Tristan for: A fine win on the field of the tourney - a series of bouts with honour, and in so they honour Gloria and Limerance.

Alaric rises up to his feet again and applauds enthusiastically. "What a performance!" he declares.

Preston is overheard praising Tarrant for: A bold runner up - a fine knight.

Alaric is overheard praising Tarrant for: An impressive debut and a fine way to introduce yourself to the people of Arx, Sir Tarrant!

Silas is jubilant when Tristan manages to pull off another event victory. "Wonderful jousting! And a well-deserved win, Master Tristan." He pets the mane of his bored-looking stallion. "Next time, boy." The horse couldn't care less.

Both remaining riders favor sleek, chesnut chargers, with Tristan in his leathers and Tarrant in his maile and brown surcoat. The first two passes again go against the Moore, as Tarrant twice discards broken hafts at the end of the lists, before finding success in the third pass. Resetting his shield again, the knight dashes once more across the field. Though he rocks in the saddle with the impact of Tristan's lance, it is only when he feels his own lance shiver and snap that Tarrant's head and shoulders slump briefly in the saddle, knowing he has lost. Discarding the ruined lance, he rises in the stirrups for the final time that day and bows at the waist toward the victor. "Expertly ridden, good master," he bids.

Esoka beats her big, metal-clad hands together in thunderous applause, raising her voice to shout, "Well done, Tristan! Finest horseman in Arx! What a competition! Honors to Sir Moore! Gloria and Limerance must be pleased this day!"

Aureth cheers and applauds from his place in the stands, putting two fingers to his lips to give Tristan and Tarrant a good solid whistle.

Saedrus lifts to his feet to applaud the final tilt. "An excellent victory, Master Tristan. And too, very well ridden Sir Moore."

Alexis gives a cheer, settled as she is by the tents. "Well fought! Well ridden! Glory to Tristran! Honours to Sir Moore," She echoes Esoka.

Reigna gets to her feet and cheers for her vassal, "Well done Sir Moore!! Well ridden! Well done Master Tristran!"

As the last lances break, Preston hands his helmet off to one of the squires and makes his way across to the judge's box, bowing first to Alaric and then to Edain before he unties and returns the ribbon to Ailith with a bow of his head "I am sorry your favour did not get more honour today, Seraph. Hopefully in the future you will permit me the honour of wearing it again. It is good for the faith to support one another."

Cheering for the final two jousters, Caelis is on her feet, admiring the skill of both riders. She claps loudly for them and smiles brightly.

Tristan is, as he likes, to claim, no knight. Nor is he prone to flowery language. He lines his stallion up for the first tilt, and inclines his head in acknowledgment of Tarrant's words. "You ride well," is all he says. He murmurs something soothing and articulate to his mount, who is ready for action, sidestepping nervously, nostrils flare. Tristan makes a small clucking noise with his tongue, and the horse explodes forward, streaking across the ground like a tongue of leaping flame, hooves thundering on the hard ground. The first tilt...Tarrant's lance splinters against Tristan's shield. The second...the same result. The third, and it's Tristan's lance that splinters. The fourth...Tristan hesitates for a moment, his and Flame's gaze fixed on the path of the lists. Nothing exists but that well-trodden ground and the shield of the other rider. The stallion bursts into a gallop one last time--and Tarrant's shield cracks beneath Tristan's blow.

The stablemaster exhales sharply, and turns his horse, "Well ridden, sir," he calls to the knight, and looks to the booth. In cue to a small nudge of Tristan's heel, the stallion himself stretches out into a bow, head against his leg, to the judges and the king.

Darren rises to his feet, letting out a whoop of a cheer for the riders. "Well done, well done!" he shouts out, putting his hands together in applause.

Kael is overheard praising Tarrant for: The dark horse who rode out into the limelight! Impressive jousting!

Aleksei's gaze suddenly finds Preston near the Judge's Booth as he unfastens his favor and hands it back to Ailith. "Hah!" he says in sudden, victorious understanding. What a weirdo.

"Oh /blast/," Jael says, hopping down from Waldorf's saddle and wincing slightly when her joints complain. A groom approaches to lead the grey off for well deserved rest and pampering. She gathers up her long skirts, which are much more dramatic-looking on horseback, and makes her way close enough to Tarrant to tell him, "Don't worry, Tristan has trounced me as well. Perhaps next time pretend he's me."

Saedrus lightly smacks Aleksei-- for being a weirdo.

Ailith applauds approvingly as she rises to her feet, releasing a single pronounced whistle. "Honor to our Champions. Gods be praised." The approach by the Templar is noticed. The Palace Seraph accepts the ribbon, clutching it, before leaning forward to murmur quietly to him.

[023"Sir Tarrant, after such an amazing run, I feel confident Sir Arugula will abandon me and start following you around hoping to gain a new rider!" Edain proclaims. Pride in how all his dragon's rode today is clear and strong in his voice. "And Sir Tristan, and I apologize for the wrong title, but anyone that rides that well is surely a knight in spirit if not in title, and so I will say Sir Tristan, It has been my greatest honor to officiate this tourney to see you ride not just for love of competition, not just for your home, but for all of use that are part of the compact, and for exemplifying what we can all aspire too." He claps loudly and lets it feed to the applaus that rings out for both been.

After a few moments he looks to the King and says, "Your Majesty, It would be the greastest of honors if you would bestow the prize upon the champion." And that said, Edain walks don the steps of the stand, and makes way for the King Alaric IV to come down when he is ready and kneels like a dutiful knight.

Brier, a dappled grey mare leaves, following Leola.

Eleyna is overheard praising Edain.

Tristan is overheard praising Edain for: A brilliant tournament!

Darren is overheard praising Edain.

Caelis is overheard praising Edain.

Tarrant manages a small smile aside to Jael, with a dip of his head. Inspecting his cracked shield, the knight hears the cheers for victor and vanquished, and holds his arm to one side in adding a flourish to his bow, a hand raised toward the stands, before going still to watch the prize being given to the chamnpion.

Talen totes praises Edain but there's a limit for common-born princes!

Alaric steps down from the box, smiling widely to all as he makes his way up on the stand. "My subjects, thank you all for attending, and most especially my thanks to all our valiant participants for entering. Our Tournament of Roses is one of the Compact's most venerated traditions, and it's displays of martial skill and expert horsemanship like we've seen today that renew our appreciation for it every time it's held. I can think of no more fitting event to hold to bring the year 1007 of the Compact to an auspicious beginning than this one. I'd like to thank Prince Edain for his tireless effort in leading the organizing committee that made this tournament such a success. One more cheer for Prince Edain and all our riders today, please," he announces in his clear and strong public speaking voice. He leads another round of cheers and applause, and waits for it to begin to die out before motioning it to a halt. "And now, it is an immense honor and my deepest pleasure to be able to grant this champion's trophy and royal boon to Royal Stablemaster Tristan Crucible, jousting champion of the 1007 Tournament of Roses!"

Darren is overheard praising Tristan.

Eleyna is overheard praising Tristan.

Caelis is overheard praising Tristan.

Reigna cheers loudly for Edain when the king calls for it. She's already starting to croak a little, but she seems all the more determined to cheer for her High Lord. Her hands clap loudly and she shouts his name as she bounces in place up in the stands.

Rising from his kneeling position as the King presents the trophy and the boon to the Royal Stablemaster, "Make sure to display that proudly! It is some of the Master Eithne Thornburn's finest work and I believe it turned out more glorious than I could have hoped!"

Stableboy, of all things. This has Alarie even standing to cheer with the others, putting down that cup and balancing bacon across the top and waiting to hear the reply after the king offers his prizes.

Kael rises to his feet once more, staying silent as the King takes the stand. He listens with a keen amount of interest and, when there is mention made that there should be applause, he does so. He actually does so without using that booming voice of is. Still, he's trying to get his clapping as loud as can be for Edain, the victor Tristan, and all of the participants. By the end, he's back to cheering and calling this and that name.

white-tailed eagle have been dismissed.

Jael murmurs something to Tarrant, then applauds heartily as Tristan accepts his prize. And for Edain, a bonafide Laurent victory whoop.

Tristan dismounts as Alaric approaches, his reins in one hand. Now that the part he's good at--the riding--is done, the stablemaster looks a little awkward, even embarrassed with all the attention on him, a faint flush in his cheeks. He bows low before he accepts the prize.

Khanne remains quiet during Edain's then Alaric's speeches. After, she joins in with a large number of people, standing up and cheering for Tristan! When his fanfare dies down a little, she then cheers for all those who competed with a shouted, "Splinters flew and no one lost a limb! I call that excellent riding everyone!"

Silas hoots and hollers when called upon, because why not? It was a grand show and he enjoyed spectating in spite of his early loss.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Caelis before departing.

Alexis has left the Field.

Preston claps loudly for Tristan - though no holloring for him. That would be very unTemplar-ish. Untemplar-like? Untemplarian? Whatever it is, it would be un that. Still, he takes a few steps to the side of the box to give space and he smiles at the gathering and the King's words. "Gloria would be happy at the honour shown today, Seraph." Preston says across to her "And for your kind words at the start of the contest. Perhaps if His Majesty tires of you, we might yet make a Templar of you." Preston's tone becomes light, almost teasing.

Thankfully on her feet, Caelis curtsies to Eleyna and Katarina before looking to King Alaric and Tristan, then Edain. "Drat. I need to go. Give my best to your brother, Princess Katarina?" She asks all focus and business.

Caelis has left the High Booth.

Rohm the Blackguard leaves, following Caelis.

"Master Tristan, you bond with your horse on that field shone favorably of Petrichor. Your feats, worthy of Limerance's and Gloria's honor. Congratulations." The Palace Seraph extends the favor from the Faith to the Champion. Ailith steps back, clapping.

Esoka does some final cheering, face still flushed with excitement. "You will excuse me, Countess. I must attend to me horse. I'll see you back at Heron Hall. In the morning, perhaps. I need to locate First Office Estardes and thank him for his charm." And off she goes, to do that.

Alarie's smilpping off, she's had her time of freedom from her threaded shackles and with a smile for the winner, she's slinking out of the benches.

Sir Pupsalot, a polite tri-color corgi puppy have been dismissed.

Mia pursed her lips at Esoka. Though her eyes brightened with a knowing spark, she nodded and offered no complaint. "My thanks to him as well, as it surely brought you luck."

Aureth has left the General Seating.

Binky, an asshole crow, Gregory, an unassuming disciple leave, following Aureth.

Shanidin, a young warhorse leaves, following Esoka.

The roar is thunderous for all the riders, but for Master Tristan in particular, and Edain reconizes all to well the discomfort of being the center of attention. "You're riding was masterful! Thank you all that came to share this day with us! Thank you to all that rode, thank you to all that gave your favor, and those that cheered. Thank you to our King for coming back to us! But most importantly thank you to Limerance for the virtues of Love and Fidelity that you brought to us and that the Tournament of Roses is meant to honor! May the gods walk with you all on all your adventures from here on out!"

Saedrus has left the General Seating.

Aleksei has left the General Seating.
