Lord Gawain Blanchard
How about ... watch THIS!
Description: Black hair kept clipped short but for the artful fall of a long forelock into his eyes, Gawain cuts a figure whose real allure is his dynamism. His eyes are a vivid green like sun on the sea, beneath long eyelashes and fine, dark eyebrows. His lips are soft and full, his teeth white, his smiles swift and engaging. But while his whippet lean frame, angular good looks and expressive mouth are enough to draw the eye, it is his energy and athlete's grace that have the potential to rivet it.
Personality: Gawain expects the most from life. Good-humored and ingenuous, there's a degree to which is vanity and arrogance are charming just because they are so innocent. It's not that he puts himself forward; he expects to already be forward, and is puppyishly hurt on those occasions when he is not. His natural charisma is a not insignificant force, and he has the raw potential to be a good leader someday maybe ... if he can overcome a few of those hardships, like trying to be all things to all men and women, showboating until he falls off the boat, and being fundamentally incapable of refusing a dare ("--what do you mean you don't think I can drink five shots and still hit the target?").
Background: Gawain never expected a knighthood. He never expected to be Count'sVoice. He never expected to be in line for the Countship. He expected to run amok in the fields with the other younger sons, become a horse trainer, become a soldier, and live a quiet life, marry somebody, have kids, settle down, et cetera. What stood in his way, of course, is Gawain. He was just too awesome to be held back. He had a natural knack with the horses, a ready athleticism as a boy that had him winning most of the races, and then there was the whole deal where the main line seemed not to be producing any likely heirs, which just seemed to bring greatness trippingly into his path. His brother died in a Shav'arvani raid, and Gawain earned a knighthood rescuing other Wyrmguard vassals from a great fire -- which he ran inside a burning building to do, not because he wasn't afraid of fire but because somebody had to do it and by gods, he was the fastest, what was he going to do, let people die?
Gawain was toying with a religious bent, as a lay devotee of Gloria, in his youth, but when his brother died, the young knight had to step up to the plate, taking on a role as heir presumptive to his uncle, Count Blanchard. If anything, the new attention only made him want to shine harder and brighter. His uncle is super boring and he's super awesome and hilarious. His real ambition may be to social climb with a glorious princess -- duchess? who knows, who cares -- but he also has hopes of proving himself in war, and maybe rounding out the trifecta by becoming ... no, he hasn't figured that out yet!
|Ardee||I'm fairly certain he doesn't need the spear in order to split someone in half. Yet for someone so powerful, he is surprisingly sweet.|
|Armani||He swims well and he's got a streak of mischief in him from what I saw!|
|Braith||*laugh* I still have not seen our rematch. Bring it on.|
|Dante||Good company at a pool party, the measure of any man!|
|Evangeline||A wonderful surprise to come across the Sword of Chevalle at a duel. He is every bit the chivalrous gentleman the Oathlands are known for and I look forward to working with him in the future.|
|Fiora||Today, an oathlander chided me for not congratulating him for talking about honor in the hall of heroes. It was perfect. This will be a story told in the Lyceum for /years/!|
|Ian||Is he the one who was yelling about life choices mid-battle?|
|Iliana||I think he's touched in the head. But he fights well and looks at home on a battlefield. I like that!|
|Imi||Lord Gawain is not the most mature example of nobility, but he's certainly one with potential. If he manages to keep his exuberance after a few real tests, he'll be counted among the Champions of the Compact, for sure. He just needs to learn that you don't shove someone to break tension.|
|Kedehern||A fine rider, who knows how to use his mount to make an impact in battle. Literally.|
|Lilia||A very brave young man. He harbors an impetuous spark that I hope will light his way for many years to come.|
|Lucita||A newcomer to Arx who is a good sport, not minding if one loses as long as they put forth their best effort. Polite, forgiving, fun in gatherings. I look forward to more time spent with him.|
|Marisol||The Sword of Blanchard is perceptive and thoughtful. I know he will lead his House to do great things. I count him as a dear friend and am only too glad that our paths have crossed. May they continue to cross always.|
|Martino||Natural charm and boyish good looks. His words, not mine! Although I would - not - disagree with his assessment there|
|Miranda||Fun fellow. House Blanchard! Newly minted Sword, too. Or Spear. He should be fun to get to know.|
|Monique||I get the feeling that there is very little this Oathlands Lord wouldn't be game for. That's a very attractive quality. So, too, is the fact that he's generous with his purse. I sense many a shared drink in our future.|
|Norwood||A more then competent soldier. He followed orders well, and was not hesitant to save the life of another man. May he continue to serve well.|
|Petal||Very tall, a knight, loves food and is cheerful and friendly and talks to common people.|
|Reese||A impish man at contests, seems like a fun person to be around.|
