Relationship Note on Fiachra
Fiachra taught me about archery - he is certainly a good shot, which I guess is why I heard he took gold in the archery competition. I must admit to finding myself often more at peace in the Valardin and Grayson wards with people like Fiachra, but then I have no responsibilities there.

So, I have now trained in understanding the animals with Prince Aiden, in archery with Prince Fiachra and on survival with Lord Gaston. And Princess Reese has agreed to a meeting about this idea - perhaps it will all work out. Perhaps.

I hurt myself a lot at the Gauntlet, but it was still an amazing time. It was probably one of the best times I have had in the city. Today was a good day overall. I found a new buddy too. I think the only negatives is that I might have an odd new nickname, and I made a fool of myself talking to a person that I might need to speak to on a regular basis. It is still has been a fun day.

It seems I am attending Alexis at a ball. We are starting to look more and more like a couple. It isn't a bad look, though I've always considered myself a servant of Gloria, then the Faith, and a lover... Well, not at all really. I've kept precious few if truth be told though it does seem to be the case that if I were to try it would not be difficult to rectify this oversight.
Really, people bemuse me at best. I prefer to turn my energy toward constructive things. Now what on earth while I wear...? It's white tie formal, white and gold. What is more formal than my robes? This might be a terrible idea...

Clover got to watch me get annihilated by the giant, Agnarr, in a duel today. Strangely, I'm fine with this - it earned me a tutor and I got to get in a few good swings... Losing isn't so bad. It's how you learn.

Whatever the outcome of the dueling tournament tomorrow, I would like to say that I'm extremely proud of my fealty. From members of House Valardin proper all the way down to one of its counties, we've made a fine showing of the skills of the Oathlands. But it's not just the competitors, it's every person that came to support us. It makes a heart feel good.

Attending the pentathlon competitions has become a regular thing for me. It's not the same as being out in the woods, exploring, but it does offer a bit of excitement and adventure to watch other people competing. I expect, before long, I might mingle among the competitors, but for now I enjoy watching them.
I have been able to establish a few connections during these events, as well, and have been invited to several dinners, and at least one social event. I know I do not typically do well during such events, but... I have determined that perhaps, just maybe, I can use them as a way to further Society business. I should talk to Aislin about this sometime, and likely meet with her to get brought up to date on a great many thing.

A great person to get together with for some good easy going company and drinks from Tor, which she always has in store. Along with this, Joslyn takes all of my teasing and throws it back at me. When I need good company, she is usually at the top of the list of people.

I like archery, it is one of my favorite events to do for competition. I am not the best at it, but it is the one thing that I really like to do as a competitive sport!

Once loosed, there are a thousand things that can influence the trajectory of a shot that you have absolutely no control over. You can only attempt to predict and plan for these things before you let go. And you can only predict and plan for so long before your arm gives out against the weight of the draw. That's in an ideal situation, of course, like practice. In a hunt, or combat, you won't be given even that long, so you'd best draw back the arrow, take aim, throw all your calculations at the wind, and let fly.
In other words, archery is a life or death godsdamned guessing game and it's the ones that are either best at guessing or who are fucking lucky who make it out the other side.
It's my favorite form of gambling, but I won't pretend I'm favored in it.
