So my next duel for the tournament will be me against Bliss Whisper... Having watched her fight a few times now I can't say that it'll be such a terrible way to get knocked out of the tournament. I look forward to seeing who the champion of the Champions will be.

The idea of an enemy of Solace in the Lowers is terrifying. That all those knights and a well trained knight with a diamondplate sword was killed so easily... Care must be taken before the order has taken too many losses. But it's still our duty to guide, protect and help the people of the Compact.

The Empyrean nears completion!

While our doors are open a bit to let people have a sneak peek, it's not entirely complete. It is happening though!

We are set to launch soon and I have arranged my first two events:

An Open House, which is largely an informal affair, where the normally members only areas are going to be open to the public.

and!

A Singles Soiree. I have sent messengers to all Heads of Houses and their Voices to make my intentions clear: I want to facilitate House ties by putting all single-and-looking people into one space and providing a fun atmosphere for them to get to know each other.

However, in the interest of providing a productive evening for you and your Houses, I encourage communication!

If you intend on coming to the Soiree, please speak to your Head of House, Voice, or whomever might be responsible for arranging treaties and marriages to talk to each other. Marriages are ultimately, a by product of treaties between Houses and things that might be up for consideration are:
*What House (or Houses) is your House looking to work more closely with? Are they interested in ties with Duchies? Marches? Counties? Baronies?
*What House (or Houses) is your House specifically looking to avoid at all costs?
*Are you able to marry out? Is your House looking specifically to marry someone in? Is this completely negotiable?
*What kind of a person does your House need - someone who is good with diplomacy? Strategy? Warfare? Agriculture?

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a messenger or come and meet with me.

As for 'spectators', the doors will not be open for you at the Singles Soiree. All who attend are expected to participate - but will never be forced to participate with someone that they refuse to.

RSVPs are appreciated, but not strictly necessary. I would like to ensure that I have enough gifts for you to take home.

Updates and details on further events to be coming soon!

I never thought I'd have my dreams and aspirations shattered to this level; to this degree. Recently I arrived upon the training grounds meaning to drop yet another donkey wagon worth of questions upon that scholar I met a day prior, Rinel. Sadly we didn't get to speak much, but that's not the point of this little hinting into my relatively sullen existence. A man of the Inquisition had a brief exchange of words with the local nobility, and the disrespect given to him was beyond belief. The way they chewed and stomped on him as if he was nothing more than a mere squire brought me down to disbelief. Its saddening, in a way, to see a structurized organization disrespect to that degree. Hopefully I'll be able to meet the burnt man; the Inquisitor, how did she call him.. I can't recall, I can't bloody remember. You've got problems, Barik. What was it, Jared? Gareth? Hell. I'll ask her again next time I see her.

Relationship Note on Mae

She told me to wear a helmet. And to avoid the clocktower. I will promise, for now, to avoid the clocktower. I think I will try and rig a device that will better allow me to study it from affair. (The word is crossed out, heavily, and corrected.) AFAR. I'll need to visit a glazier with my specific requirements. Or, I could just cut the glass myself. I certainly don't see anything going wrong with that.

Relationship Note on Cullen

He offered me a bit of excellent advice. On his say-so, I will avoid getting stabbed in the chest with a sword. IF I do, I am to immediately seek the attention of his sister, Lady Margret Greemarch for medical care. Although, I wonder how mobile someone would be IF they were run through with a sword. I suppose it would entirely depend on the depth of the wound, and where, and how it happened.

Dear Mom,

I'm going to send you an edited copy of this letter, because if I detail all of the things that happened on the trip from Leaholdt, you might have me plunked onto the next carriage headed out of the city. Suffice to say: it's totally not my fault that I attempted to make the ride smoother by attempting to improve the spring suspension system of the undercarriage. A semi-elliptical leaf spring just seems so outdated. I thought maybe if we took some of that lighter, better steel -- like Oathlands steel, we could --

(oh, sorry, Scholar. You can't keep up with me. Well, cut out this part.)

-- so, see, I cannot be blamed for the entire party (with those hired guards) winding up in the ditch. Thankfully, I did manage to make a rather on the spot poultice of cold mud and mixed herbs to bring down the inflammation on the driver's head. Yes, it did take some convincing to try and get him to trust me with slapping mud (I think - I swear it was mud) on his bald spot. Poor sir. I'll need to write him a smart apology letter following this entry.

Suffice to say that Tomwell saw me well settled into my new room (oak - a greatly dense hardwood) and it's perfectly lovely. A clean slate to build my workshop in. I already have ideas and sketches drawn up on how the maximize the layout to create an efficient laboratory-slash-working space. Like I promised, I DID join the Scholars of Vellichor. I am ALSO a member of the Apothecary College. AND another thing that I am apprentice of but I don't think I look very good in scarlet. Would hair ribbons be all right?

(Scholar? You look a little pale. Is your hand cramping?! I'm sorry.)

I need to stop now. I'll write soon.

Always,

Elly.

In the 1008th year after the reckoning on a crisp Autumn day that I, Brother Driskell Stillwater, enter the city of Arx through the Seawatch Gate past the shadow of Shaivassa. I note that I have been significantly delayed returning from the war. Imbalance has brought me back.

I have returned, but have I returned at the right time?

My experiment on limited windows for commissions has proved interesting. Of the three, two have been taken.

That means there's one slot left. If you'd like a commission, send me a missive. First one in gets the slot.

Marie's recipes are so good that even /I/ can't stop eating what I bake. I'm getting so well-padded around the hips that I'm almost on the verge of having to lie down just to pull my trousers on.

I also feel like Marie needs to find employment outside of Keaton Hall, or I'm going to be five times as big as I am already by the time winter rolls in. At least I'll have enough fat on me to survive, I guess.

Does it have a name yet? y/n

What color is it?
Is it fluffy?

I find Scholar Sina to be an excellent character, of a well established courtesy and brilliant mind. She came to my estate earlier today, and I found myself learning just as much as I was teaching. If not, perhaps more. It is my hope that she will continue to be a colleague of mine.

I'm very thankful to all the friends and family who have been with me during this fucked up six months. Half a damn year and I've lost three people who I cared for most in the world.

I don't know where I'd be right now if not for you, your support, and this damn baby. Someday this poor kid is going to look up mommy's journals and cry because I didn't love them enough or some shit. Or they better not. Any kid of mine is going to learn you don't cry when people can see you.

And that's why I've been spending lots of time alone lately.
