This has been a miserable week. A very exciting, exhilarating, nerve-wracking, occasionally on fire week. But miserable, all the same.

Relationship Note on Silas

Don't think I didn't see what was going on, Baron. We still need to have a talk. You better hope it's a day where you win the match, Lord Commander Sir Baron Whitehawk.

Relationship Note on Tikva

If this is supposed to be historic and a chronicle...

When I first met Lady Tikva Riven I became infatuated with and what I thought she was. Her personality crashed hard against me my own and... I could very well love who she really is. Now that I have begun to see past the first brushes, past the outward layers. I'm beyond infatuation now to true respect and adoration.

Relationship Note on Charlaine

I had the pleasure of hosting the auction for charity with Lady Charlaine and I am so glad for it. The entire evening was her brain child and I was so honored to have been a part of it. Throughout the evening she was attentive and available and very comfortable with setting the tone of the evening and keeping things moving forward. She was an excellent co-host and I would be flattered and happy to work with her again.

Honestly it's quite gross and adorable. Like the world's cutest kitten with the most horrible gas. The kind of gas that melts diamondplate.

I'm sure your children will be equally gross and adorable.

Those poor dogs. It's a good thing that whole business didn't seem to scare cats so much. Meowlarice was a bit antsy but I think that's because of all the dogs going crazy. We were visiting my folk, as I don't think the dogs got crazy all the way in the Uppers, but maybe some did. But it's like I said to Lord Silas, animals know things. Some of them aren't so smart, but they can sniff things. Like cats and elves, for example.

"Little Thief". It has been such a long time since anyone has called me that.
I don't know if it's better or worse that it's in my dreams.

Much bustle about the celebrations.

Are we celebrating the looming toll of death, or that we remain alive?

I can find little cause to celebrate either.

No word from the steward of the Lament for a fortnight.

He must have died somehow.

Else he may wish it when I find out what's caused the laxity.

I attended my first ball, and felt all out of sorts even with all the recent training in etiquette. I only stayed for a short time but the Party Prince made good on his promise of a dance, and later found me in the Redrain grounds. We shared a nice dance, under the stars, to the sound of birds and frogs, and a Bard whom happened to be singing just for us.

I do have to thank Prince Kieran for a wondrous time.

I've already received some of the first plants from people extremely eager to contribute. I have no idea what I'm going to do with them while we get things ready for the king. I'm suddenly aware I didn't think out this inbetween step of storing plants very well at all.

I have had a day with as many ups and downs as the great dunes of sand around Ahj'on. I thank those that have have written or spoke their support of my feelings. I did not anticipate such interest in my humble writing upon these pages. Please know that what I share next is not meant to shame anyone and I have no desire to make enemies of any of the wonderful people of this great city.

I feel very strongly about this subject, and slavery is not an easy subject for honest discussion. A smarter person than I pointed out to me today that the First Choice chose *our* city.. I say 'our' because I consider myself an Arxian as much as the next. I have come to call it home. Therefore, if the First Choice chose this to be his place of new beginnings, then we must pay him the respect he deserves and try to better ourselves towards greater freedoms.

It is the smallest grain of sand that contributes to the most devastating of sand storms. I doubt the grains of sand intended to cause damage or hurt others, yet they do.

I understand that the residents of Arx do not see what I see. How can they? It may seem I am nitpicking ... semantics? Perhaps. I cannot control the fear in my heart. Perhaps that is my failing. There are many dark things in this world that begin with 'willing' participants. I know of too many of them, and I have seen what it can become...

Lastly, I do not presume to speak for any thralls on this matter, but I do wonder what their feelings are about such great sums of money being spent on a willing auction when their own lives are still in bondage.

Standing on the ramparts today I looked out at the land devastated by the siege. For miles around the city and that high of a vantage you could see the rack and ruin of the land where forests once stood and were turned into instruments of war. Where fields that once might have held crops are now rolled up because portions of an army camped there. And then the demon blight that will remain.

If only silver and good intentions could fix the land as well, so those displaced could return to rebuild their homes and lives.

Today I danced with two princesses.

Two.

Whole.

Princesses.

And I didn't even accidentally bodyslam either of them. It's a lot easier when your room isn't rockin' back and forth, that's for damn sure.

The Iron Guard recruitment seems to be going well for the Lord Commander. It looks like Arx is well on the path of recovery, but it is still quite a road ahead. Many people won't truly forget what happened, but I think it's nice that there are charities, fundraisers, as well as many other things, to relieve their minds of the siege for a while. I know it has helped me a bit.
