Relationship Note on Gideon

Welcome home.

Do I get to call you Uncle now?

To my nameless daughter:

When you are older you may wonder why? It is a question I wonder of my own parent's actions often enough myself but they are gone along with their journals and I will never have a resolution to those questions of my own.

I leave this for you though in the event your father and I are not able to satisfy you curiosity in your older years - the answer is always: for you, the future and our people.

I have submitted my best ten puns to the priests to see if they would laugh at any of them. Unfortunately no pun in ten did.

Relationship Note on Alexis

I trust Alexis enough to have her make my personal armour. A greater compliment from me it is hard to find.

Relationship Note on Ferrando

I met Ferrando today. There's a fellow I would not have expected to see in an Armourer's Shop. Indeed, he was just there to chat with Dame Alexis. To what purpose, I've no idea whatsoever save that he was apparently 'networking'. Perhaps we will run into one another in a more appropriate climate soon. Perhaps somewhere warm.

I watched a man beat on a slab of beef last night to no effect. And then he lost his head about it. With no spectacle or grand how-to-do, justice was served and an execution was done.

The processes were fascinating to watch.

Relationship Note on Victus

It was a gift and tribute to the all mighty Lilybelle, your grace.

She deserves to be wreathed in flowers that never wilt.

Quit leaving your fucking flower crowns in my house. We get it, you smell better than the rest of us. Stop rubbing it in.

I am going to undertake a vow, to Limerance, that I hope will help lift the weight of shame of some of the things I have done and also failed to do in my life as I work to fulfill my promise. I met with Archlector Ilvin to discuss my penance, and to ask questions about situations where different duties, different loves pull you in many directions. How do you resolve the internal conflict? How do you best honor your vows? It was an interesting discussion, over these little cookies he has for supplicants.

Though it will take time to internalize the advice I was given, and to compose the vow with the right words, I hope that the gods, and maybe my papa in Elysium will know that though imperfect, I am trying harder to become who they, and I too, want to be.

I have spent the last week or so under the weather and recuperating at home. I am glad to return to the Barracks and do my turn in annoying an Inquisitor. Additionally, I will be insisting the kitchen serve iced tea to help us deal with the sweltering summer heat. It will be sufficiently sweetened.

The courtesan will be handling a dinner hosted by House Blackwood for House Thrax guests. She has been working with Victus for a while now and we hope to see her how this event goes. I like to do my business with food so if all goes well I can see house Thrax hiring her services again.

always a shame when a man of the law damns himself to pun-jail.

Also, as a side note, after a long talk with Gisele, I am feeling both incredibly light on my feet, far more well-informed, and of the feeling I will be watching the quality of my journals more closely in the future...

Sorry about that, Vellichor.

In my experience, a prisoner's favorite punctuation mark is the period. It marks the end of their sentence.

Punishment for bad puns would be simple: Pun jail. What is pun jail? The place where all of the badly punning people go. Stick them all in one cell together, and check in every decade to see if they're still at it.

A special award will be left for the last man/woman/person punning. We'll ask the Deathlector to check if the dead ones have given up or not.

Relationship Note on Juliet

I know I'm one of many that has had the privilege of kissing Juliet, as much as I'm sure I'm not the only one that has scented a rose that bloomed so gloriously. While I never did more than kiss the lovely creature, I did speak to her now and then. Hard, brazen, and still as soft as velvet petals. I hope Death keeps you, spins you on to the next life without a fuss.

[A very detailed recipe on what can only be called 'tripe pot pie'.]

We're short on recipes in these archives, scholar, and just in case Gods don't eat what we mortals can, I want to make sure I'm doing my best to share with Them as best I'm amble.

I would recommend to anyone that does not enjoy what another person writes in their white journal...perhaps don't read it. Do not take it off of the shelf, open it up, look at the pages. There are so many people in this city, each with their own journal, it should not be difficult to entertain yourself for the hour you have devoted to such things by reading journals that do not offend. It puzzles me, to realize that so many people actively go out of their way to offend themselves. If there is someone whose pages or penmanship irritates you, do not select it to read, again.

If it hurts, if it is unpleasant, I recommend against doing it if it is not a necessary thing. It is advice that can apply to many more things than reading journals.

Relationship Note on Juliet

There have been an astounding amount of new faces, almost all southern, that I've met coming down from our Homeland and to this city. In a lot of ways I expected it to be worse. Absolutely there have been some growing pains, but the people I've met are very well worth it.

I was shocked how well I got along with Juliet, I tracked her down fucking proper one might say to answer a burning question about these southerners. There answer is six by the way. And getting the answer turned out to be a great deal of fun.

I never thought I would enjoy gossip about women and drinking wine, it was the most southern thing I've ever experienced, no lady has ever been more southern, and I was a fan and certainly so was Gustaf. I'll miss those meetings, and it's a shame our last conversation was a tense one. I'll give Gustaf some milk in your honor, but I'm not drawing shit on my sword.

Please note that the scholars may take some time preparing your journal for others to read.
