There are a lot of things that I am good at, but there are probably more things that I'm not good at. In fact, I would say that I am bad at them. Very bad. Someone willing to help with those very bad things is a boon, and it helps that they repay drank rum with replacement rum.

It seems as though I was not successful about writing more this week. About collecting my thoughts, which I still find that I have many but none I'd deem of both interest or importance to write down. I've met a number of people this week, new people, and I've had a number of offers made to aid me in preparation for a trip in the spring. Which, I believe that I may take them up on it, at least in parts.
I'll be honest, I do not think that I have ever been more excited and impatient for a season change than I am for both my first winter with snow....and then the end of that winter, for spring and the promises that it holds. I can wait until spring, I can. I will not lie, though, and say that it is going to be very easy, but I at least have the excitement of snow and winter festivities to distract me.
Then there is always work. Work is, as always, a distraction which I do love. It has been a fairly slow week, which has been nice, it has allowed me to finalize some research, and to get some reading done, make some plans.

I climbed a tree in the Shrine of the First Choice the other evening. It was a surprisingly pleasant experience. I realize that I've spent so much of my life just trying to keep my head above water, I forget to just /do/ things because they might be worth doing.

Relationship Note on Reese
Princess Reese Grayson is someone Archeron has respected from afar - as minister of war for the Grayson, he knew of her in his time with the rangers out of Ashford. He had the chance to meet her in the city and she was most cordial, but more importantly seemed happy to welcome him on excursions and patrols into the woods. This is a useful link that Archeron will have to pursue.

Lady Erika is someone Archeron ran into on his first night in the city. And what a relief she is - she knows the woods and is happy to show Archeron the places near the city he can get his feet into the soil and forget the business of the city. She is loud, but no where near as rough and tumble as the Thrax so she is also a good acclimatiser for the new Tyde Lord .

It is imperative, I think, that one should now and then take a step back and think about that which they present to the world around them. Too often, the very nature of being who we are, we fail to realize that that which we present and project outward, does not always succeed nor is in fact, what we are projecting. We are, after all, only human. What others see is coloured by their own minds, thoughts as well as their own perceptions. After all, what one thinks is a treasure, is not necessarily so to someone else.
I am not perfect and at times, even I fail when it comes to relaying that what I wish others to see, as opposed to what I do not. One can be too subtle. The same as one can be extremely overt. It took a conversation with another to realize this. It provided for me a means and avenue to go about rectifying it and working to better that part of me. Clarity, is not always granted, nor so easy to come by. But i strive and will strive, to have more of it.

I'd lie if I said I love that Ribbons is fighting this duel rather than me. Even a friendly duel, there's always that small risk of something going wrong, and Vic's a beast. Still, she's one of the absolute best I know with a blade and she'll be bearing my best rubicund and my heart along with hers, so we'll face him together in that sense. She'll do both me and her House proud, I'm absolutely sure of that.

The Dragon's Hearth seems to be coming along well. I've recently finished one comission I was rather proud of. Already I find myself with offers of more comissions, and I can only hope that I can keep to the standard I've set for myself.
The forge still holds a peace for me, where I can lose myself in the heat and the rhythm, and let the world melt away. It is physically exerting, yes, but there's less of the extreme and the hints of agony that come with testing oneself to the limit, and more a... A meditation and a constant pressure.
Maybe one day I'll be able to express it as well as the lady in the poetry collection Lord Percephon lent me.

Whitehold Ale and good company can ease a troubled mind. I know that is an obvious statement, but I don't care. I am happy with the company I kept today. These all the days I shall look upon fondly when I am old and grey. These are entries that people will read in my journal and wonder what made them so amazing. I hope in elderly state of mind I can still recall why these days filled me with such joy and excitement. There are times when a person believes everything is beautiful and filled hope. It does not matter if it really true. Sometimes a fable can still bring upon happiness.

I find it quite interesting that people are asking others en masse what scents they enjoy, but I suppose I can join in on the trend this once. I happen to enjoy these scents:
Vanilla.
Campfires.
Saltwater.
Lemon.
Cedarwood.
Most flowers.
