Relationship Note on Shae

Shae, there is actually another dog that I wish for you and Lorien to help assist in selecting and acquiring. Our first joint training venture.

I've recently returned home from another sojourn at the hunting cabin. There's nothing like life out in the wilderness to help ground you, especially after everything that's happened in Arx. It was nice to be out amount the trees, hunting the beasts, and enjoying a few evenings under the stars.

However, it was equally good to be back. I didn't know how much I missed Mason until I saw him in the library. He seemed troubled about something, and I admit I felt a bit guilty about leaving him behind. Perhaps next time I shall endeavor to take him along with me; I think he deserves a vacation as much as anyone else. He works so very hard.

He invited me to a see a collection of paintings for an art show that he is organizing. He was very quick to assure me that I didn't have to attend the art show itself, if I didn't want to. This is why I love him so very much. He gets me in ways that others do not, and knows I'd be miserable at such an event. Still, I want to support him, so I will endeavor to muster up what strength I can and attend this event. Sometimes, city life is a wilderness all unto its own. I can do this, I know I can. For him.

The world is changing. I am finding people less intolerable than I once did. Perhaps, I am far more broken than I thought I was. I still don't really like people but they are not as awful as I once thought.

Also. I was called a sandwich. That is an interesting notion.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

I am pleased to be calling the Guildmistress a dear friend of mine. She has welcomed me openly to the City of Arx, helped me establish my gallery, and has been a fine person to have conversations with. More recently, she gifted me with something truly incredible that is taking my breath away, and for this I am very thankful.

I wish there were more people in this world like her.

Many believe that inspiration is a gift from Jayus, akin to a present or a beautiful dream. This is not the case for me. Inspiration is something I have to hunt down, seduce, tie up, pin to the floor, feed, and then cut off in pieces to be consumed slowly or I'll burn out like a candle who's wick is too short and too weak to support a proper flame.

I'm pleased with the results, however, with a newly stocked shop and new designs. Very satisfying.

Scholar, I think that entry sounded a little too much like cannibalism.

Ah, damn. Leave it as is.

To say I've locked myself away to the throes of inspiration is an understatement. My assistants in the shop are busy selling and I'm sitting in my quarters scribbling madly away through my sketchbooks, designing and fiddling as I go.

Ever since I met Malik, one of our newer Crafters (and an amazing painter, for certain), I was reminded in one of his language lessons of a cuff I saw on the Lady Aislin. Wide, intricate, beautiful, I've made a few cuffs of my own inspired by it. The ones I've made are gold, with cooler-colored gems. The granulation isn't right but I can't hope to duplicate such intricate craftsmanship.

I'm going to put up my poor excuse of an attempt up for sale soon. Malik's lessons on Eurusi have also given me the option of engraving in said language as well, but I've no idea what to write!

Arx is certainly different to Ashford. The city is bustling, with very few retreats away from that. And while returning to the name I was born with is good, and I know my mother has the best intentions for it, it is also in need of adjustment. My new fealty brings with it a degree of loudness - not from cousin Margot, but from others within Thrax. I will have to adjust to that. Still. My bow has finally arrived from Ashford, so I can go hunting, and cousin Margot has been kind enough to set me up with a room and make me feel welcome. So, we shall see. Now, if dear sister would stand still so I can check she is OK, life would be complete.

Bats sound like a type of bird. I suppose that's close to what I was hoping to hear.

Death seems like a reasonable god, as far as gods go. Certainly, she makes more sense. She's familiar. I could see myself going to her shrine again some day, just to see what people say about it.

Maybe.

I'm definitely looking forward to getting to work on this social competition of Duchess Belladonna's. It seems like a great way to meet new people and make some connections! Or just to spend some time with my favorite armorsmith.

That reminds me, I need to harass my lawyer cousin to join our team. We have room for a fifth! And it involves writing things down, probably neatly. She'd be perfect.

Gailin's back at Stonehearth training, and Arianna continues to travel for business. We've just remodeled our old home in Arx and now it feels so empty. Still, my wife carries my heir and soon it will be full again I suppose.

Guess I'm expanding. Got a branch up at the Menagerie now, selling leather goods with an animal twist. Pretty little ears! Plushies! Who would have guessed? That Prince Aiden is good people though. Even if he's a silk.

Saw Princess Reese and High Lord Victus slug it out in their Rite of Gloria. Unfortunately for me, I was late to it, and missed most of the beginning and middle even. From all accounts it was a pretty severe and grueling match, back and forth until Victus got the last hardest hit in that had Reese submit.

I know from experience Princess Reese is a really tough out, so now I know I don't want to have to slug it out with High Lord Victus without a real good reason. Although I think I kinda knew that already anyway.

Archlector Aureth is readily available, but if anyone has questions about the Queen and Her worship, and he is not available, please, feel free to talk to me. I can't promise bad puns, or even good puns, but I'm working on that part.

Please specify whether you wish to speak to me as a Harlequin of Death or the Duchess of Gemecitta. I think if I get my roles confused, it might get very weird.

Note: Please be kind to your friendly neighbourhood spiders.

Relationship Note on Lianne

It was quite nice to catch up with Lianne... sorry, Marquessa Lianna... the other day. Since my arrival in Arx, she and I have often seemed to be stuck in an orbit that often brought us close to one another, then moved us apart once more. Each time we have spoken, whether in person or via messenger, we have found that we have many unlikely commonalities. Looking at us, one might not expect us to be similar at all... it is kind of amazing how often we can easily relate to one another.

I hope this time our orbits will remain closer a bit longer. I look forward to talking with her more.

It's nice to see the new Shrine of the Queen of Endings officially dedicated. (Or dead-icated, ha ha.) Apparently I'm not the only one glad to see it opened; I brought Octohopper and I think she's decided to spin a web and live there. I'll be a bit sad to see her go, although honestly it's probably a better place for a spider to live than the Whisper House. Plus it's not too far away from the Shrine of the First Choice, so it'll be easy to stop in and visit her there.

Once, you know, I find her. I mean, she's big for a spider but the Shrine isn't exactly tiny, either! I tend to assume nobody is really reading my journals but just in case, if you're by the shrine and you spot a spiderweb with a prismatic jumping spider in it, if you can send me a messenger with their approximate location in the shrine that would be very much appreciated.
