Relationship Note on Aislin

The Lady is a wonder. And she'd make an excellent thief. Not that I'd considered asking her to run away with me to the Greenmarch for a life of banditry together... Not more than all night, at least.

Relationship Note on Alaric

I have now seen, firsthand, exactly how commanding and inspiring our King can be. I am grateful for it.

Relationship Note on Ailith

It's rare I get along with anyone in the faith but the Serpah and I get along perfectly. She's logical and level headed and was a soldier before she went into service to the Crown.

Aaand there it is. That's why.

I'll be frank, I planned to attend the Grayson meeting and listen only. I had no intention to speak. I expected something far different than what happened. On the topic of the Abandoned, my expectations were, and have always been, far below what was suggested last night as far as action, let alone that there would already be a plan in the works along the lines of something like this. If I had known in advance about some of the major motivation behind those patrols before this meeting? I would have expected the worst. I'd have still attended, but I'd have shown up...angrier, certainly.

Obviously, words, even these kinds of words, are cheap. Actions are what matter. What happens when good intentions run up against resistance is what matters. What happens when all of this gets hard and they get pushback from their own people is what matters. But it's so different from everything I've seen and come to expect so far that I have to give credit where it's due. So I'll give them this, without reserve. My expectations have been shattered in the best way possible. That doesn't happen often, and never before when it comes to this. So, okay, Grayson. Now. Go, prove you mean it.

Relationship Note on Calarian

My cousin Calarian is quite amazing.

His way with words is powerful, but so is his wisdom, his fearlessness and his eagerness to act.

I am honored that he is helping me hold in the fundraise for the Thrax. I wouldn't have done this nearly so well without him.

I am glad that Prince Calarian is my cousin. I hope he never marries out of the family!

The Grayson Military Meeting was in my opinion a great success.

There was some passionate differences of opinion, but such is to be expected.

I don't want to silence the voices of any of our family, fealty, vassals and allies.

We fight against slavey and we are free, including free to speak our thoughts.

This lead to a loud and spirited meeting. I don't consider it a bad thing, especially since
these words will lead to action.

We will act.

The mock battle that I ran was not what I expected to run, but it worked none the less.

Princess Lou was very fierce and stood for a long time. I am proud to call her my sister.

Lady Monique made quite the fun damsel and put a lot of passion into her role.

Lord Wash, as the commander king, was great and had great ideas.

Master Sparte was his solid self, until he darted off, but that added to the feel of the battle.

Lord Ian had some bravery when he stepped in mid fight with Prince Luca and Prince Antonio still standing.

Prince Antonio sure can fight! I didn't realize how he good he is.

Prince Luca was great, of course, he always is. Great at combat and great at entertaining as well.
Sometimes it is frustrating though. I would have liked to have beat him. Next time!

Lord Corban got ganged up early on by are team. He stood up much longer than i would have thought, but also had grace and dignity about the entire game, even when he was such a target.

Was a bit surprised at the response to the meeting last night with everyone and it was a joy to be around everyone. Hopefully with all the back and forth talk, we can come to common ground and move forward with what we have to do on this new initiative.

Construction on the great hall at Domus Igniseri is completed. Finally. Now to plan the wine tasting that will the debut event within the hall. I've tasked Lucita with finding entertainment for the evening, and hope that she can find other talented people like herself to mingle and make friends with. I fear she's looking to this task as more a chore than anything else; but I have complete confidence in her abilities to complete it.

The days continue, and I still miss my brothers' quite fiercely....

I believe that sometimes having too many voices in one room tends to drown out the good ideas and we're left with the loudest ones, but that meeting was more productive than I hoped for. And I have confidence in the path laid before us.

Relationship Note on Clover

These last few weeks have been a whirlwind. I don't think I was expecting... I have no idea what I was expecting, really. All I know is I no longer come home roaring drunk. Clover would probably object if I did anyway. And we don't both need to be falling over at every given opportunity. Just some of the more memorable ones.

One of these days that girl will trip and we will both fall in front of an oncoming wagon and be trampled to death.

Went out into the world today to deal with some cultists with an unlikely group of companions. I learned three things. Blood slides are gross. Bodies make squelching sounds when you hit them hard enough. And begin stabbed still sucks.

Oh. Four things. Friendly fire isn't.

All I want is for people to get along, for no one to kill each other, for some kindness in the world. I am tired of the nightmares that seem to haunt me since the siege, watching the Shav'Arvani all slain. Pools of blood which flow so easy, and many lives that once were people. This is never what I wanted when I came to Arx. I came to be a Merchant. I thought protecting the city would be exciting, honorable, all I've found is nightmares, and solace in a flask of whiskey. I am sorry for those that I've upset with my words. I just wish I could change the world.

It has been days of intense sparring.

First, I participated in Princess Reese's "grand melee," which turned out to be very much like a game of defend the princess. I was paired with Prince Luca and Prince Antonio, and I played my traditional role of front-line combatant. That meant I was first to fall, but it was all in service of a victory over a far-numerically-superior force on the other side. I also think we may have been Evil Pirates in this scenario, but I never quite caught onto the roleplaying.

Second, I sparred with the Marquessa Dominique Wyrmguard. We were an equal match for one another, and a perhaps-misguided attempt to press her attack opened her up to my blows and allowed me to secure victory. Nonetheless, she appears as honorable a warrior as they come, and I look forward to speaking with her in the future.

Relationship Note on Eleyna

She remains one of my truest friends, although I see her not nearly often enough. It was my pleasure to have a glass of wine with her, recently, and catch up on how each of us was doing since the last time we saw one another. Which, again, has been far too long. How easy it is to get so caught up in what must be done that you forget to do the things you enjoy, including time with those whose company you most enjoy.

I should be better about this in the future.

It's been some time since I've written, the trip south took far longer than expected as well as the issues which struck house Darkwater and it simply is impossible to write when one is floating from a wrecked ship for days. Transferring from ship to ship at the various isles until I reached Arx and then I went up the streets to enter the halls of Darkwater Reach.
The tides rise and fall and while the ships dip down the horizon into the deep, new lands and adventures await. I wonder where my ship will land, now that I'm in new waters. Do I seek out my High Lord? The new Countess of Darkwater? Become Godsworn? Heat up my skillet and make a really good roasted pulled chicken meal with rice?
    ...I wonder.
