Relationship Note on Gaston

I will not add to the voices that pointing out how shocked they are that you have done something so self-destructive and I will just wish you all luck in being able to find a way out of your predicament.

I hope you don't mind if my hunting falcon Roland continues to follow you around while you are resolving this. Apparently he enjoys ambushing the animals that like to harangue you as your about the city.

These little bobbing boats in the Hart...all I can think about is the crack of timbers and screaming of sailors.

Relationship Note on Gaston

I have found Gaston to be a good friend, a fierce fighter and someone you want having your back and not facing you across a battlefield. I know I have few that are very close to me but Gaston is one such friend.

That being said.. I can't believe you did what you did Gaston. I swear to the Gods and Spirits. I now know what it was like for Fia to have to raise me! I would kick your ass but I am pretty sure everyone else is going to do that for me.

I like it when people help each other understand better instead of squabbling. It's a good look.

Relationship Note on Dominic

Prince Dominic.

A warrior and master of the Thrax kennels.

We fought together on the battlements against the Silence, and have sailed together against the Gyre.

His loss is keenly felt.

May the Sentinel guide his passage beyond the mirror.

I found a doll I made once from some old rags. It's a soldier, it's got a little hat and a sword. I make dolls like that sometimes, usually just to give away to children from the Lowers. It was outside, just in past Merchant's Gate.

I wonder how it got lost. This one I made for charity. I hope maybe someone just had it and thought they should put them out on the street for children to grab. It still looks fine, no reason to throw it away. Maybe whoever had it just lost it, children have a way of losing things. I hope they liked it. It's not very good, but I made a hat for it and everything, and it's got a sword, like I wrote. I might give it away to one of these babies being born, but I think maybe it's a bit dangerous for a baby. I just hope it's not because a little one died and someone got rid of it because it was too sad to have it around afterwards.

I spoke to Mistress Hana Grayhope, and we discussed, among other things, smithing techniques. She was kind enough to show me a treatise on the various metals, and I have reached a new understanding about diamondplate, I think.

It's very gratifying to speak to a fellow smith - someone who understands the coaxing of the metals. Sometimes, it is not you who shapes the metal, so much as the metal that tells you what it wishes to be.

Maybe not literally. But, yes. Sometimes there's little use going against the flow.

I can only hope it won't be an issue when I work comissions.

A few days ago, I agreed to spar with Mistress Paladin Leola Allenatore's horse. I didn't realise she'd be seated upon Dame Brier, nor that her arrows - blunted for the training pitch they may be - would be quite as hard to dodge.

The two are formidable together. Though Mistress Leola was pleased I was able to bring Dame Brier to her knees.

How do you make friends with a horse after sparring? Do I find some good oats and share stories of other knights that have bested me?

I find myself ever grateful to live in a world as wondrous as this. To hear about the many gifts bestowed by the gods, old and new. To learn of my fellow people and the way of things. I admit, it sometimes seems like every new answer brings a number of questions, but... Well. Perhaps that is Vellichor's charge for us. To ever keep searching. Ever keep learning?

I am no scholar. But I can appreciate seeing a mystery unravel, just a little.

A date's been set. Even as excited as I am, there is still work to be done outside of marriage. Now I have tomes and tomes to read. Who would have thought being an admiral requires so much reading and study?

May your hopes find safe harbors.

Well, that was an interesting boon that Prince Talen asked on Audric's behalf. I admit it caught me by surprise to hear. But still, it's a good boon. I know Audric and his men fought valiantly during the Silent War, possibly in more fights than people generally realize, and gods know valiant defenders deserve rewards.

I'm still not entirely certain whether I should offer him my congratulations or my condolences, however.

Relationship Note on Alis

I've met Princess Alis once before, but alas it was in passing before a battle. Today though, I had the greatest pleasure of meeting and truly speaking with the Princess.

We talked on many things, including how each of us respected the other's house and why such Houses were worthy of respect and admiration. She is another prime example to me of why Valardin is a house of kindness and honor, a primary reason of why I think we get along so splendidly. Can't wait to call her as my family.

She also showed me around the manor...which is possibly the shiniest I've ever seen.

Especially the dining room.

Into each twilight I go, seeking the faint hints of light in the darkness, following the spider's web to its heart and what might be found there, and yet each search seems fruitless. Only strand after strand, a silken skein with no end and no beginning, littered with the coccoons of the past.

Pockets full of lovely lucky stars. So many more than I thought there would be. But they make such a charming sound and sparkle so prettily.

I hope they are well received and enjoyed at tonight's event. More importantly, I hope they do what they are intended to do.

The more luck we have, the better I think.

Relationship Note on Artorius

Though we had met briefly before, prior to the attack on the River Column of Bringers... I believe this was the first time that Lord Artorius and I have had the time to sit and get to know one another. He is a Knight, and reminds me very much of a Valardin one - which is a compliment, for those who are wondering. Being a Valardin Knight does not mean being stuffy, since I know that is often the stereotype. No, he is kind-hearted and chivalrous and noble. I have promised to help show him and Caelis around Sanctum once we all arrive for the wedding; he will be a most welcome addition to the family.

Relationship Note on Sophie

On Flammas, I admitted this and now commit to my journal. Three years ago, I met Princess Sophie when I was most vulnerable. She greeted me with such warmth and offered to guide and help me through my adjustment to Arx. I honestly do not know how I'd have done so without her. So I thank Lagoma for blessing me with her Mother Mercy helping me through this change but also having her friendship. My life has changed for the better through her friendship and mentoring.

The past several weeks have passed like a few mere days worth of time. This could be due to my recovery, perhaps, though it was swift and sure due to the tending of my wife. I think it is the season, perhaps, for Spring is mercifully right around the corner. Much has happened and I find it difficult to pull my thoughts together. My recovery, being able to feel the movement of our little Squall in my wife's belly, the return of the flagship pair of hounds due to the efforts of my brave household and the Moore's -- not to mention the Blackram, Gaston. So too is there the fact that we were able to host the King for one of our dinners. So much, in so little time. May Limerance continue to shine upon us.

Seraph Ailith visited me at the Lodge today. We spent much time discussing our pasts, and I now have to find an appropriate companion for her and the palace chapel. I have some ideas, but I must see who is available and of an appropriate temperament. Hopefully, those who visit will soon find themselves greeted by snuffling noses and intense interest; and not just from the disciples there.

Please let me advise the city. Should you find artefacts of non-human make which, when touched, irritate the skin and make animals uncomfortable around you, wearing said artefact may not be the best of choices you can make.

In other words, please don't just poke everything you see.

Thank you.
