Relationship Note on Calypso

My wife is correct, Lady Eirene's talents are varied and many. From healing, to cursing, I applaud her. Duchess Calypso, won't you consider releasing her to my family, we'll promise we'll let you see her on weekends.

The ant thinks it is covering new territory never explored as it winds through the mountains and valleys it runs across. Little does it realize that it is simply crossing a field that was plowed by man, a creature the ant can't even fathom much less actually sense or see.

Man thinks they are able to cross horizons and that they are agents of change, but they don't realize that they can't understand which can't be seen by them. And could we even possibly begin to try and contemplate what exists beyond what that which can't be seen?

The wheel turns again. It always turns and continues to grind.

Lady Eirene Malvici's ability to curse is inspirational.

To the crafter or crafters who made the statue of Mangata that is now placed stalwartly upon the beach.

You may remain anonymous to us, may Jayus bless your shops and craft.

Sometimes I feel like things are things which happen to other people and I'm the one cleaning up the mess or left going what the flying fish-fry fuck just happened?!

*A charcoal and watercolor sketch; a comfortable looking daybed sheltered underneath the sleepy branches of a willow tree. A pair of platemail boots rest before the day bed, but there is no sign of the owner. The only color in the piece is a wash of pale green water color over the willow branches, and the grass the daybed rests upon.*

I am soon to deploy in support of Princess Reese's mission into the Gray Forest. It is satisfying, in a way, to be once more on campaign. It was my life before I came to Arx, and there is a rhythm of being with a mission that is not duplicated in city life.

This campaign different from many others, however. Rather than an army of conquest, we are envoys of peace. My role is to be primarily defensive and reactive, not offensive. Nonetheless, it is an honorable assignment, and I look forward to carrying it out well.

I hate most people.
That is all.

Unrelated topic: The Gods
While I love Mangata for her beverages and brews, and the smell of the sea reminds me of home, I'm not really her girl.

Nor am I Gloria's, for all I am a warrior.

I'm Lagoma's through and through. The fire which can heal or harm depending on use.

---------

Strike that prior part. It's better put in a black.

Back to my earlier topic: I hate people.

Relationship Note on Donella

Princess Donella Redrain. Princess of the Farhaven.

... Nah, doesn't sound as good.

Let me know when you're ready to come down from the blistering cold. I'll keep the rum warm.

Relationship Note on Alarissa

There was a time when me marrying the regent of the Compact was one of the most poorly kept secrets this side of Arvum. That shit fell through quicker than I would have liked, but it's deep enough in the past and dramatics that who really cares anymore?

Still, now it seems I'm coming close to a wedding with a woman who was once slated to be queen. Weird how I keep falling in with all of these exceptional royals, but they always seem to produce the most tolerable ones of their ilk as well. This one though, she's prettier than most I've met and she's pretty damn good company too. Wouldn't have expected that from a Grayson blooded lady who went straight through Valardin nobility either. Those are two houses that Thrax and definitely myself have not had a spotless history with.

But here we are now. I'm ready to commit to this long lasting connection. I don't know if I really believe all the hype about 'love', but I can believe in a good companion for some years to come.

So here's to the future. Anyone who stands in your way stands in mine, 'till death and all of that shit.

Relationship Note on Petal

The gloves are ready and every bit as magnificent as I knew they would be--more so, even! Mistress Petal, you and your hands are magic, to do what they have done with this steelsilk. I know its recipient will be pleased beyond all measure, just as I am. You have my deepest thanks, and my gratitude for your skill and talent.

And I meant what I said before. Every last dress. You just let me know.

Relationship Note on Victus

That was an unexpected revelation. And certainly an unexpected conversation. It sets into perspective some odd feelings I've had, and apparently some dreams you've had, and well - let's say I'm curious to see how this works. It worked before, right? So it can work again, or we'll go out in a blaze of glory, one. But here's something I haven't said before - I believe you'll do this. You have a plan. You have some goals. And you certainly have the strength and the will to move forward. I believe in you, and that's something I never thought I'd say.

Her Highness, my cousin Tikva Grayson, is quite the wise woman and I would advice anyone who comes to me for counsel to make her latest white journal entry canon for those engaged in the politics of the Compact.

I am a priest of the Faith, and as such, am expected to be able to speak knowledgeably about all of our gods. But in day to day practice it is inevitable that some receive more focus than others. Gloria, Limerance, Gild. I have had little experience with Mangata, though I believe I have felt her presence during the times I joined my cousin on his cargo runs. In recent days though, I have helped clean her shrine, carve her insignia into ships, marveled at the statue on the beach.

It's nice to meet you, Mangata.

Margot surprised me at the Mangata event, wading out into the water as she did. She certainly isn't shy or weak in anyway - always impressive. We have a good leader for our reborn house.

Princess Reese, Prince Calarian and anyone else involved in the planning and execution of the fundraiser. Thank you kindly. It was a smashing success and I thoroughly enjoyed the people and the ambiance. On a side note, I noticed my siblings didn't make it. Which makes me kind of sad but everyone is busy beyond belief, so I will have to send their portion of the Stonewood donations before I retire...damn. I'm never finished with a day's work when I think I'm finished. I am sure right about now everyone else kind of feels the same. Which is why it's so necessary to have these moments, they give me hope. I delayed my trip back to Stonehearth for this wonderful evening and I am glad that I did.

Many thanks to my seamstresses of the night. I wore Mistress Penrose and Mistress Alarie. Dear Gods I love those two. Amazing artistry...anywho I've written my piece for the day. If I manage to get away in the morning well praise be to Gild. May she guide me safely to the ancestral lands of my people. Or something like that. I really need to read that prayerbook, I guess I can do that on the way. As my mind drifts back to the fundraiser for the close of my entry I wanted to say thank you to you Baron Stormbreak! That recommendation was perfection. In the future if I ever need culinary advice I would like to think I can rely on you once more. No pressure if you read this. Just a thought.

One of the principal risks, since time immemorial, when one is writing a journal about persons unnamed, is that of course no one will actually know against whom the slight is directed, and one may find that one has stung a number of people who suspect themselves in every sentence, while the target against whom one has aimed one's barb simply carries on in complete ignorance, cheerfully going about their day with no knowledge that you have sharpened your wit upon them.

But you know, we have always used the White Journals like this. It has been the case for centuries! With a team of researchers, I have been able to unearth the oldest such vague journal in living memory within the Archive of Vellichor, and I provide it now, with citations, in my own white journal, as an aid to memory and object lesson. Its text, entirely, is thus:

"Few things are as sad as how far some people go to get the last word." - King of the Compact Tyrval Ael'Noctis, Consort of Alarice the Great.

Food for thought!

Please note that the scholars may take some time preparing your journal for others to read.
