Relationship Note on Edain
My mother is visiting this month. She hustled off this morning, she was excited to visit and read all of the white journals that she'd missed while in Artshall. She came back rather flustered after reading an entry of yours and told me "now don't you dare go talking like Prince Edain, I can't believe that young man putting that down in the journals for all to see!!!!!!!!!!"
Yes, all those exclamation points were necessary.

Relationship Note on Edain
The High Lord is right. He and I have been at each other's throats since I came to this city, years of rivalry and plenty of nasty shit has been sent flying at each other over the littlest things. I ain't much of a man for honor and fancy suits of armor, the Oathlands are fucking foreign as could be to me. But I don't consider myself a close-minded man nonetheless. Used to. Not anymore.
For what it's worth, I buried all of my troubles with Edain the day he asked me to duel in our final Rite to Gloria. He offered to bury the hatchet then and I've obliged. He is a Prince, he is my ally in the Compact and soon our family's will be connected as well. Whatever else comes between us I'm willing to face forward perhaps not as a friend, but as a man with respect for his equal.

As I consider these colorful journals, I am reminded of a day. The sun had yet to pierce the night sky. I left the safety of the Rectory, journeying to the beach to watch that shadowed unknown horizon. The waves lapped at my ankles while thoughts wandered to the threats of here and now. A chill set to my bones. And then it happened as though answering the prayer held at my throat.
Sunlight split the sky -- a welcome beacon of renewal from the Gods. Awed as I was by this wonder, I bathed in its vibrancy of pinks, reds, purples, and blues. My eyes widened in solemn joy to see ships set off to the seas baring colorful banners of all Houses.
To those of the Isles, see our glorious banners waving high and know the Compact comes. You are not alone in this fight. Witness the holiness of the Gods' gifts and clasp it close as a strengthening light to this darkness.
To our enemies, quiver to see we come. We will hold and push the line. It is not us who should fear but you.

Last night, I dreamed that the moonlight was stolen from me. A hole opened up inside of me, but a man, radiant like a king, caught my hand before I fell. He tried to pull me up, but the light was gone, and I was dying... I was too heavy to lift. I begged him to let me go before he was drawn in by the dark, but his eyes blazed with resolve and his fingers were bands of iron.
And then other hands reached out, and I saw smiling faces that blazed with light. Was it my light? I wasn't falling down anymore. I was falling in another direction, because the world had been turned on its side. The people were gone. The king was gone. I was alone on a blasted landscape, and the hole had become a tunnel that yawned wide.
I didn't have the courage to go inside. Not alone.
And then other hands reached out, and I saw smiling faces that blazed with light. Was it my light? I wasn't falling down anymore. I feel it is foolish of me to rip the bandage off a sore topic. That of the topic of the color pink. It is always going to be a contentious issue but I would like to share an old Oathland proverb that sums up how many, including myself feel about the color pink.

It's no secret that High Lord Victus and I don't like each other very much. Despite our attempts to bury the hatchet that is not likely to change. I will take ownership of the fact that I am the one far less willing to compromise than he is. But that dislike has never extended to the people of the Mourning Isles.
That is why I look to the east and see the spread of the Darkwater Deeps and I feel like I am sitting here in Arx useless.
I have helped how I think I best can. I have sent ships, I wait to hear back from people that are dear to me if thier missions were successful. I trust people to do what I can't. Command a ship, navigate perilous waters and be an asset where I might be a liability if I were with them because of my inexperience in such a battlefield.
So instead of sitting here feeling useless, I am going to try and do something of value. I have long had a standing agreement to offer training and instruction to those that sought entrance into the Knights of Solace. I extend that offer to anyone that wishes to go and help combat the crisis in the Mourning Isles.
I do not know if what I have to impart will help you, but if you think it will you have but to ask. I can train in the use of sword and spear. Of mounted combat and how to fight back against a mounted foe. I can teach you the trail craft to keep yourself health on a long march or conflict, or to survive if you are separated from your comrades. I can even offer some drills to help you prepare to fight through pain of injury and stand fast.
If you think this knowledge can help you, you have only to ask me for instruction.

The Duchess of Roses is a fine patron. I am grateful to serve under her as a protege and also to call her a friend in some sense. She has been there to provide for my projects and to support me when she's able. I am hopeful that Tor will flourish with the Duchess' rule.
