Relationship Note on Viviana

Lady Viviana surprised me when I first met her. Sure, she'd be what you'd expect as far as matching her words to back up her blade -- or perhaps it's the other way around? But it's oddly rare to find that gorgeous woman who skillfully plays the demeanor and politics game as flawlessly as if she was breathing, and it proved to be an enjoyable thing to witness. She strikes me as dangerous, in more ways than one, yet delightfully interesting. I feel like I could learn a thing or two from her, yet that it would come with both cost and risk.

Relationship Note on Jaenelle

Growing up amongst the Thrax, Jaenelle was always a font of kindness and joy and it warms my heart to know that despite everything that has happened - being sent off to Lyceum, loosing her husband - that she has maintained her sweetness. I shall have to make an effort tosee her regularly.

Relationship Note on Brianna

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. No good fucking deed goes unpunished, like doing this wild little Halfshav the favor of her fucking life. She's a storm, alright. The sort any man might be tempted to ride into just to test how strong her winds might blow. How about kicking off the habit of calling me the Bastard Lord, though, eh? It makes me want to rip her fucking throat out. Other than that I genuinely started to appreciate her company.

Relationship Note on Jaenelle

My cousin and Valerius' sister. I like her, to the extent that I like people. She makes me feel like family, I suppose. It helps that I have no expectations of her, that she has no expectations of me. With expectations come the failure to live up to them. Every fucking time.

I think she'll do alright with the Lycene nobles. She's pretty, she's sociable, she isn't entirely fucking stupid. She has a Thrax heart, so I figure if anyone is going to do the poisoning and the stabbing, she'll be the first one to draw blood.

If shit goes bad, she can always come home.

Relationship Note on Isolde

A very strange young woman, condescending, but then what else can you expect of a princess? Certainly not stupid but I wonder if she's as much smarter than everyone else as she likes to think she is.

Relationship Note on Gareth

A man who has suffered a great deal and makes a great show of well justified bitterness. He strikes me as far more honest to himself than most though, with a genuine love of his house and wish to do them proud.

Seeing Alacarite in action for the first time was a shock, while I have found myself officiating over Rites of Gloria not infrequently since taking up my new position, I have not seen one conclusively resolved in so little time before outside of when shrinking couriers tentatively tap each other to first blood.

Sadly the combatants were rather perfunctory when it came to honouring the gods but I cannot deny they fought well.

Relationship Note on Valencia

Oh, cousing Valencia, sent away to the North and managing to flourish despite the... north. She actually seems fond of it, so it might actually be worth exploring a bit more, instead of writing off. I'm glad we have reconnected. She will be a good confidant in my dealings with others, and a gateway into connections there.

I shall bow deeply to the kindest generosity of this princess! If all customers were like her, none would suffer from economic misfortunes.

Relationship Note on Viviana

As the Sword of Setarco, Viviana Pravus exemplified the traits of a true Lycene woman - beautiful, witty and most important of all, dangerous. It's perhaps because of this, then, that Talen took care not to give slight to the lady without first given due reason. While their personalities perhaps clashed, as Swords of their respective houses it was expected they would often interact.

Relationship Note on Hadrian

Duke Malvici is quite possibly my sworn enemy. Not necessarily because of anything he personally did. It's circumstantial. Were he Duke Hadrian 'Buen'vici from some other place other than the gods forsaken Southport, I might actually consider putting him on my list of potential romances. He's tall, dark, and handsome, even if he does favor a more slender frame; I could work with it! Alas, it's not meant for us. We did dance at the UnKindness and I was very impressed by how smooth he was on the dance floor. That dip! I might have swooned. I won't outwardly admit it, but I'll note it here. He would make for the perfect accomplice if I wanted to really give Leo gray hairs.

Relationship Note on Victus

Lord Victus Thrax... Behemoth, Brash, Beast. A man who literally has no fucks to give, pardon my language! He was romancing a woman from the Lyceum, Baroness Alessandra Gilden, but she has since disappeared. No, I don't believe he is responsible. Lord Victus Thrax may be many things, but I do not believe in my heart he is capable of murdering his former betrothed. He does however have an amazing beard. I do wonder who his stylist is...

Relationship Note on Fergus

Prince Fergus Redrain was quite brash and gruff the first time I met him but I suppose I can't fault him. He is actually quite a nice man once you peel away most of his rough exterior layers. I inquired about his scars and was quickly turned down from story time. Seems there is a lot about Fergus' past he is not willing to share. This sounds like a challenge to me!

Relationship Note on Isolde

Princess Isolde Velenosa, the Charming Mirrormask disciple of Lenosia, is someone I would consider to be a close friend. Though we've only met since my arrival to Arx, we have a certain understanding. I'm not sure what sort of relationships or friendships she has with others, but she has been exceptionally courteous and honest with me. We can chatter all day and night about most anything! It's most fun when we gossip about particular Princes but shhh, that's supposed to be a secret. So many secrets between us.

Relationship Note on Valerius

Prince Valerius Thrax is a most enjoyable conversation partner. He seems to have a common touch, interacting easily and affably with many in the Thrax Ward's tavern, where we met. He projects a manner of hands-off indolence rather well, but he is cleverer than his reputation led me to suspect.

I think we will have fun entertaining each other and the rest of Arx.

A man who is thoughtful, knows how to enjoy himself, and can fit in in multiple levels of society is after my heart.

Got around to testing myself some these past days. Lady Kima Saik managed to surprise me. Wasn't ready for her first strike at all, stupid of me, and I was on the backfoot for the rest of the bout. No excuse for letting it happen, and I lost fair and square. Was a good lesson that I apparently needed, though, and I'm grateful it came at a time where the only thing permanently wounded was my pride. Can't dismiss these Compact Nobles just because they sometimes make me want to roll my eyes. I'd say trounce them and /then/ dismiss them, but I've heard too many stories about daggers in the dark and poisoned wine. Don't dismiss them.

A few days later, a slightly more serious bout with Lady Viviana Pravus proved rather thrilling. There's a certain...thrill, in wielding Oathbinder. And no small amount of emotion. It reminds me of Valen. And it reminds me of how he died. Still, the feel of that draconic, bejewelled hilt in my grip just brings something to life. It makes me feel like I could take down a dozen men. Or, just one pretty, dark-haired master swordswoman from the Silk Isles. The Sword of Setarco is fast. Quite possibly the quickest I've seen. Anyone unarmored and not as quick as she or myself would likely find themselves run through before they realized what was happening. With that Alaricite sword, I suspect even plate might not save her opponents. I managed to keep up, in large part due to having two swords to her one and being no slowpoke myself. There is no doubt in mind that if it ever came down to a true fight, it could very easily go in her favor rather than in mine like our little exhibition did.

Relationship Note on Eira

A common sellsword I happened to meet in the training grounds after she finished a couple of bouts. I say common only because she has no title. She seemed to be well above your usual soldier in terms of skill with the blade. No telling if she's truly seen battle or not, though. While a deft hand on the practice grounds doesn't necessarily a great warrior make, I doubt this particular mercenary will be looking for a patron for long before she finds herself employed by a Duke or something of the sort.

Relationship Note on Viviana

The Sword of Setarco. Truth be told, not certain I understand that title. My knowledge of the Compact outside of Sanctum is pretty limited though, so I'm sure there's an explanation, and I just don't have it. Somewhere along the line, I'd come to think the whole 'Sword' business was something only the great Houses did. And the Lyceum House is the Velenosa? Eh. Anyways. These Lyceum women certainly seem to be of a type. All about having a good time and enjoying themselves. Viviana and Kima'd probably get on like sisters. Or stab each other in the heart for being competition. The Lady Pravus strikes the balance just a tad better though, I think. I couldn't mistake Viviana for anything but a swordswoman when we first met, and that was before I'd any idea who she was, or that she had an alaricite blade. Good to know all the Compact's noblewomen aren't soft damsels.
