Relationship Note on Eira

Eira had proven herself to Talen as not only a capable sellsword, but a valued instructor. Known to have trained with her on more than one occasion, the Sword had even invited her to the manor of the Great House Velenosa to take audience with them as prospective employers. It was clear he intended to watch her progress in Arx and having the Crownsworn woman in retained service for the family appeared mutually beneficial.

Wood for Setarco, and pike and sling to see them safely on their way. It is good to see that our reputation as warriors has extended beyond Telmar and Valardin, though such contracts should probably be treated with great scrutiny lest we be thought of as mercenaries. Still, there is benefit in deriving both coin and reputation for discipline. Leave gallantry to our lieges: we will pelt the enemy with stones until he flees or until he throws himself on our pikes. Its not flashy, not particularly glorious, but it works. And apparently people will pay for that. Will wonders never cease.

I watched Viviana utterly destroy Talen in a Rite of Gloria. Most of that I expect is that she's simply that much fucking better than him. She danced around him, hardly got hit at all. She looks right fucking good when she's got a sword in her hand, going for blood. I'm less impressed by the theatrics she puts on every time she gets into the fucking ring. It was laughable against Marian, and it was fucking laughable today.

It doesn't hurt how nice those leathers make her ass look.

Dagon of course had to put his fucking knight on. Yeah, Talen flicked some dirt in the girl's eyes, but who wouldn't when getting cut into ribbons? Some people are born big - like me - some people are born crafty - unlike me - and some assholes are born pretty and some are born rich and some are born quick. You bring all of that into a duel. Use what advantages you've got, I say.

Sometimes I wonder if the reason we so rarely come down from the hills aside from matters of urgency is that everyone wants to fight you, as if by virtue of your brow being just a bit closer to the sky. Yet by this virtue of height and size I am consistently assumed to be some manner of mountain to be conquered. Must investigate if this is strictly a Velenosan phenomena or if all other houses are similarly drawn to making bouts of challenge based on ones vertical stature. Much simpler in the hills, where you can just kill people who want to stick a sword in you.

Also remember to send for Teagan and whatever relic may be hiding in our vaults. If honorable combat is to be the standard entertainment of choice, a simple shav cleaver won't do.

Relationship Note on Eithne

A very pleasant young woman I shared a meal with on one of my trips to the Ward of the Compact. Saw her in the tavern and noticed some soot on her sleeves and the smell of the forge about her, and turned out she was in fact a smith, an armorsmith to be exact. Discussed a potential commission, but need to speak with her again. Thinking I might like to try trading some of my leather in for steel, the smaller pieces like vambraces and gauntlets anyways.

Relationship Note on Morrighan

A young woman I met in the Traders Tavern. Fiery, and a bit wild, I was unsurprised to learn she was born and raised amongst Abandoned. Up north a ways from the Green March, near the Redrain lands and not the Valardin, but not so far away in the grand scheme of things. I don't know her story, but it seems she found her way into working for the Redrains, and now she's here in the capital with them, so I suspect she's found herself a good place. It'd be good to talk to her again sometime, and we even mentioned the possibility of a friendly little brawl in the future.

Relationship Note on Alis

Little Alis, while I'd not call her that, it's hard to think of Valen's baby sister as anything else. Size isn't all that important, and Alis has a courageous heart as big as her brother's. No longer a girl, she's a woman grown now, even if still a young one. We're sharing a room in the Valardin estate here in the capital, something uncommon amongst nobles, I hear. But it warms my heart to be able to stay this close to a living, breathing piece of Valen. Not only will I do my best to protect his family, I will do everything I can to help them become what they are meant to be. Much was stolen from us, but I trust the family is in good hands with Edain and Alis.

Relationship Note on Audric

A flamboyant man of morals relative to the size of his coin purse, he seems to be the lowest of the low, but particularly charming about himself and his sellswords.

Relationship Note on Acacia

Definitely a girl to watch! She's pretty fucking nasty with a short blade, fast as a demon, seems to know all sorts of very rich, powerful people despite being a lower boroughs welp like me. Guess she knows all sorts of merchant types as well, best to stick with anyone that well connected.

Relationship Note on Issac

Only met the guy once, need to speak with him again. Not so fucking keen on the idea of being recruited for a gang though, I mean yeesh, left the boroughs years ago. That shit leads to an early grave and empty coin purse.

Relationship Note on Niccolo

Saw him beating the shit out of Talan in the training centre, barely took a mark on him. Damn! Must have been a terror when he was younger and is pretty formidable now. Got to respect that but why the hell would a duke spend that much time training to use a sword? He has how many thousands he commands? Then again maybe he's better at that, reputation suggests he might be.

Relationship Note on Talen

He can fight, seems a decent guy, is pretty blind to the fact he is basically a noble. I mean a duke says he is like a son to him, probably more privileged than most nobles even if he seems proud he is not even a knight. Also why in Tehom's name is he not a knight? Would have thought it was a pretty natural thing there.

Relationship Note on Edain

Prince Edain is an enigma, so many nobles, especially from the Great Houses, assume their superiority and privileged. Perhaps Edain does as well but he retains a degree of humility and seems to be genuinely doing his best to do good in the world. What more can be asked of anyone?

Relationship Note on Gareth

I am uncertain what to make of Prince Gareth right now. Our conversation was, I think, productive. We both shared concerns for the state of the city and I think that is a good place to work from. At the very least, he is the first Grayson I've really had the chance to speak with and open up the doors of diplomacy to. That alone made the meeting valuable.

Relationship Note on Alis

I find myself rather excited. Princess Alis accepted my challenge to meet on the field to fight in a Rite to Gloria. I have seen Edain fight and I have seen Marian cross swords with others. I am curious to see Alis in action. My suspicion is that she will be quick, and I shall have to make sure I see to my defenses. Still, win or lose, I know she will fight with honor and it will be a pleasant experience to cross blades with her.

Relationship Note on Isolde

I am quite glad that the Princess was pleased with my gift. I had to put some thougt into it, and it was a new experience. Perhaps it will help me in the future. For now I will simply be happy that she liked it... Master Enzo did quite a remarkable job on that bracelet.

Relationship Note on Victus

He speaks bluntly and in a manner that would perfectly fit the Lower Boroughs. He enjoys bawdy songs and has quite the lascivious spirit. I would be surprised if anyone in all of Arvum could defeat him in single combat, as he wields the legendary heirloom of House Tyde and earned legitimacy in war.

Relationship Note on Gareth

Saw him aimlessly wandering around the Training Center one day. Apparently, he wants to learn how to use the sword. I can't fault his tenacity, but he'll be lucky to do more than hold the weapon aloft.

Relationship Note on Edain

I don't know much about this Valardin High Lord, but from what I've seen, he carries himself with both confidence and presence of character few other nobles ever manage to achieve.
