The best way is to forget that you should keep your door locked while organizing your shop. Mind your business, have no expectation and live your day. When you least expect, you will forget to even opening your shop, yet you will already have more orders than you would expect yourself to have during that entire week!
And like this, I am again, postponing the opening of my shop.
Thank you, all of my patrons for allowing me to spread my dear fragrances through the city, and hopefully bring out smiles even in times as hard as these.

It's actually quite cute even if he keeps trying to eat his bow. Not as cute as a certain trio of bunnies though.
My to-do list is now as follows;
-Finish cleaning up the garden and planting the necessary seeds.
-Teach Miss Juliana Bennett how to make incense sticks and cones.
-Work on a sitting room for the shop.
-Charity/donation event?
-Swordfighting!
At least my mine is off of the Gyre.

Family's a funny thing. Thinking about what defines it, because I know it isn't blood, and for commoners like us, it isn't oaths either. Nothing like. It's something else. But it's real.
And it grows, when you nurture it. Twisting up out of the earth like vines from deep roots. . .
I can't really remember a time when he wasn't a Grayhope. Wasn't like my little brother but taller. Or like my little cousin but sassier.
He's sick as a dog just at this moment, so I'm sure he won't read this to see me being mushy about him in public. Best time to say I love you, when nobody can hear it and catch you out.
Better take care of yourself, you stupid bastard.

Raven saw this, and decided that he could not only do what Eagle had done, but he could do it better. Why settle for the lamb when there was more impressive prey on the hill. The next day, when the shepherd took his lunch, Raven took flight from his tree to swoop down on the flock of sheep.
Raven descended on the back of a wooly ram, but when he tried to rise again, he found his claws had become tangled in the wool. He flapped feverishly to try and take flight, but he was thoroughly stuck. The ram scarcely noticed that he was there. The shepherd, however, took notice and came to see. He untangled Raven's claws, but not without first clipping his wings.
That evening, the shepherd gave Raven to his son. 'What a funny bird,' he laughed. 'What do you call it?'
'That is a raven, my son, but if you asked him, he would say he is an eagle.'

Liars seem to believe that all other men are also liars. The mind of an honest man stands wholly beyond their ken.
Habits of deception mark one as pitiable, but also dangerous.

My greatest fear is for my son. I have lived my whole life in a state of more or less war with all the raiding parties and the threat of the Shav'Arvani, the enemy tribes upon our borders, in our woods . . . but never before did I fear to walk about the city streets with my child because of what we might come across.
I slew the seeming of a child that was a Bringer, who threatened the catacombs by trickery. My heart has been uneasy since then.
It is not that it is a bad lesson to learn, to question the evidence of my own eyes and ears. But it is a hard one.

I miss the stars and the swallows. I miss the songs and the stories. I miss the winding roads and the clifftop vistas. I miss the particular rhythm of Setarcan life, the lull when the sun is highest, the peak as it sets. I miss the people, my people, so sharp and bright and vital.
But I no longer ache. I no longer pine for the Silken City that I so love. I no longer spend my nights staring up at artificial stars to feel a little closer to home. I do not need to. I have found home here. I have found purpose and joy and a strange and satisfying cadence which keeps me grounded.
Trapped as we are, I should want to escape, to flee the besieged city for the safety of my beloved island, but I am home, and I am happy, and I mean to stay.

1. Promise whiskey if they listen.
2. Talk of Tehom while they drink.
3. Offer a whiskey bottle to go.
You would think by now Southerners would have realized any kind of worthwhile conversation is always had with whiskey in hand.

Even now, years after this, when the wounds I leave heal.
Even after sleep with fierce eyes closed
and if her heart
is broken, it is as least still.
You would also be falcon and go free.
You would tread her wrist and wear the hood,
set high, no limits, strike and draw blood.
