Long overdue, but I've finally settled the matter of the invitation extended to me by the Most Radiant Selene Whisper. It will be a pleasure to serve as a patron of Whisper House as a whole, and I fully intend to enjoy the company of as many as possible of their fantastic courtesans. There's something to be said for the security in paying for the finest company that Arvum and Arx has to offer.

Now that I have been ennobled, I have been making arrangements to have my shop handed over to another carpenter. Once he is properly trained, it will be renamed and he will be given ownership. Some of my designs and my wood notes will remain.
I will remain in the Crafters Guild, but once that day comes I will no longer be using my carpentry skills for profit.

I run an inn and I work as a businessman. These are things that I plan to give up, when I step forward into the Faith; hand of the deed to the bar, hand of the papers for the business, and devote myself truly to the gods, say true. But for most of my life, I haven't been too far from Gild's auspices.
Yet it's easy to become jaded, isn't it? To know the works of charity that must be done and to suspect the perfidy in the hearts of humans. Because we do all have a choice, don't we? To do as we should, as we ought, or as we ... want. Haven't we all seen it, all too often?
If the Sentinel watches the injustice we work, what must Gild feel when she sees what so many of us do with our coin?
This is my prayer to Gild, Goddess of Fellowship, may I never forget the Boroughs, the hard-hearted and the downtrodden. Let my works do good for more than just myself and my goddess and those I love. Let me work in service of the common good. And may my fellows not forget what all that charity is supposed to be for.

My mother was the foremost seamstress in Arx. The finest designer, the height of taste. Anyone who was anyone was dressed by Myrinda. Her work was art, the aesthetic married to the functional, and she'd never let you forget it. She used to craft things specifically to leave for Jayus and rail against whoever stole them.
I have never underestimated the value of art in life. Of course, Fortunato will tell you I don't know what art is. But ... the ability to express, to create, to work whole upon the world something that fired your imagination, the power of the mind behind that, it's always astounded me.
Yet he was always my mother's god, not mine.
I was always certain of that, even as a boy, even when my first vision touched me and I first spoke of it to a trusted friend. "But seers are the realm of Jayus, aren't they?" No. Not this one. Even then, I knew. I didn't know why, but I knew.
Yet that doesn't mean I don't have a sense of my own, a sense of art, a knowing of beauty. I don't myself create much. But maybe that's not so either, anymore. When Sylvie spoke to me of her vision for the Temple that I am to create, I could see it in my mind's eye. . .
This is my prayer to Jayus. May I never forsake my inspirations. And hey ... keep an eye out for my little brother, will you?

Paperwork. Documents. Now we have to clear the name of every random citizen accused of being a Bringer, and in addition to that, launch other investigations that don't seem related. While we quelled a riot from beginning, it does not help that we were unable to persuade just about everyone that their neighbors aren't Bringers. This is going to make people's lives difficult, even when we are victorious in the siege. It'll take a lot for our people and Arx to recover.

I keep waking up with this horrible pain in the back of my head. The city has been so loud, I can hardly keep to myself half the time. People keep coming and going, but most of them are nice. I like having friends on land. It's a different kind of people here. Not what I'm used to, but still good. My nose got cracked yesterday by some magicians attacking my lord. That was the most exciting thing yet besides all the pretty people who seem to like me.
Things here are not so bad. Could be better. Could be worse. I like it, I hope I can find others that do too.

I couldn't believe it. He used my suggestion for his heraldry. I am humbled. I am honored. I am awed. I couldn't be happier to have been there for him when he got the keys to his manor house. I was so excited for him! There are plans for decorating! This will be so much fun. He also agreed to let me drag him to get his first portrait as Baron Silas Whitehawk, I recommended Brother Branan! We'll see if he he as the time.
Silas is a friend I know I'll have for life, as he values my thoughts and opinions. I would be lost in Arx without him!

After we beat the insects at the gates, and their slug that leads them, I look forward to seeing how the conversations turn. It's an exciting time.

I spend more and more of my free time in the shrine to Mangata. Perhaps I ought to socialize more but I find that time is often better spent or perhaps it is only the company I have been keeping. I suspect the siege is leaving me a little stir crazy, I miss sailing merely for the joy of the wind on my face and the salt spray when the waves break under our feet. If there is a feeling more akin to flying I do not know it.
I have taken a certain interest in teas as a remedy in herbalism, perhaps I will try my hand at preparing a few.
As shocking as it is, I look forward to my next visit with Semiramis. Her mane may be darker than mine, but I truly enjoy the company.
