You truly are the best seamstress in Arx when I am ready you shall be commissioned for my wedding gown.

I enjoy the ocean. It respects no tidals and is always tidey.

This is the best I can do, Aureth. Can't we do pictures instead.

I wish people would scale down all the fish and sea puns. It's getting harder and harder to tuna them out.

Don't want to appear to be hooking anyone into a debait, but I feel I must say something, though it seems that I'm floundering with my words.

I suppose one must reel in the judgement on such things, though I hope it fin-ishes soon.

Did you hear about those ocean puns that were taking over the Journals? No? They were Abyssmal.

Two sailors went walking on the beach one night, all alone, and as they chatted by a tidal pool, the first sailor drew a knife and stabbed the other fellow straight off.

"What the bloody hell d'ya stab me for? I thought you were my friend!"

"Nah, mate, I'm no friend," replied the first, "I'm anemone."

Life is all about fish. And the ocean. But fish.

Tide goes in, tide goes out.

I went down to the beach to observe the waves. To see how they come and how they go. As a Harlequin of Death, that is one of the messages we preach. Beginnings, endings, a cycle, never stopping.

The beach itself works just as well for a metaphor, and as a focus for contemplation. Find a stick, write your name in the sand. Set aside a few hours and build a beautiful castle. Leave your work overnight and return the next day, and you'll see the sea has washed it all away. It's a clean slate, once again. The most regal structures, the most elaborate drawings, all return to what they were. Sand.

The cycle never stops. Around and around we go. Sometimes we are great castles. Sometimes we're a child's name. Each time we're wiped clean - still made of the same stuff, but wiped clean - and we start again. Each time we have a chance to build a new. Each time we have the chance to define ourselves.

And I believe that, good people of Arx, is the porpoise of humanatee.

I've decided not to cut my hair after all. It had been a hot point of contention after I found my braid was getting so long I might have to change the style of helmet I wear to keep it. Clover convinced me... And I'd hate to cut it anyway. I'll make do with what I have.

In other words when I take off my helmet I can garrote someone with my red hair. There's an image that will stick with you for a lifetime!

Once, as a little girl in the Lyceum, I went swimming and ended up in the middle of a pod of dolphins.

Not by accident. It was completely on porpoise.

Sigh. I turned my back for one moment. Well, maybe more than one, but still! And those little beasties that Vincere and Pietro left to me destroyed my entire wardrobe. How they possibly got into it, knocked it down and tore everything apart, I can't imagine. But, they did.

They are all I have left of my brothers, so what's a sister to do? I'm going to continue to care for them, of course, but I think I might invest in a lock for the wardrobe next time. And be cross with them for awhile. It's hard to be mad at them when they gave me such pitying looks when they realized how mad I was after their bout of fun.

I guess this now gives me a good reason to buy new clothes - not that I really needed one to begin with. I was able to procure some replacements pretty readily, and make a new order. Thank the Gods for that seamstress Petal Penrose for having things on hand!

To the person who insists to everyone else that I be called Princess, in spite of my wishes to be just called Lou, and is going around correcting people and insisting otherwise against my wishes -- //My name is Lou!// That's what I want to be called. It shouldn't insult //you// that's what I've asked other people to call me. It's not about you. Stop getting offended. It's not yours to get offended about. There's a time and place for titles, and if I've told someone they can address me informally, well, that's my decision. Not yours. If you want to discuss the situation, you come to me. Don't reprimand them.

To my family, please don't let me find out that any of you are going around doing this. I might find a snake to put in someone's bed. Or, something worse I find from the woods. Don't make me do this.

Seriously angry,
Lou

My husband, Prince Nimble, is a champion out of legends. To go undefeated in the duel tournament against fighters like us, well that is wonderous.

I didn't do very well in the joust as those watching might be aware of. Not very well, is really an understatement. I went dramatically flying at the first pass and lost complete control of poor Peaches. That won't keep me from competing in the final joust tournament, if I am able. I might make the final eight event though by default as there was only eight of us. I believe that Gloria likes to see warriors who are defeated get back up and keep going. I think she likes to see warriors compete in contests that are not in their strongest area of expertise. In short, I think there is honor in me competing again, if I qualify.

I think that my cheeks were very pink, but luckily Princess Sophie was there to tend to my strained ankle and my even more deeply bruised pride. It should be noted that Mercies can help with injuries beyond those of the body.

I do have to say that High Lord Edain, Master Tristain and Lord Gawain are amazing jousters. This gives me joy as it is them on their horses who will be helping to defend Compact if needed.

I did well in the Iron Guard Contests.

I placed third in the duel. I would have liked to place higher of course, but placing third among that level of fighters was quite good. I have been reading the journals about these contests and I agree that real war and battle are different. Every single warrior in that duel contest is a great warrior. There was a good amount of skill and some luck. Just because I beat someone that night, doesn't mean I would the next. I would be proud to fight besides any of of those warriors in battle.
