To whoever left the figurine of Edain Valardin embracing my own figurine in the Thrax Estate's library...

I will find you.

Congratulations on your new position as Admiral of the Malvici Fleet.

My sister tends to be wise in professional decisions, so I'll put my faith in her decision -and- your skill at sailing.

Do your best!

The date is set and in a matter of weeks I travel to Sanctum. I have always been a woman of faith, but to be in Sanctum in a holy ceremony will be something else entirely. I truly look forward to it as much as I have been warned it will prove tiring. Doubtless there will be moments for well timed naps before returning to Arx for the reception and back to work. Soon my best friend will be ever at my side, and that is a thing to feel blessed for.

May your hopes find safe harbors.

Relationship Note on Estaban

Congratulations Lord Admiral Estaban. You have earned this many times over. I will miss Riptide, but I trust the blade is in good hands as is my fleet. I look forward to seeing how you work with the other admirals of Arx and I know like I did in my time serving at Duchess Calypso's side, you will learn many things. Of course, I suppose the sailors will be a little sad. If you find any drawings in your inspections of the ships, I suggest burning them.

The only thing I have to say ... When do we go celebrate?

Working title: // Expedition - Soar North //

Day 2. Embarking Arx, Morning Of.

The expedition has begun. All are on aboard. There are more who came than I anticipated but they understand the grave nature of why we travel and willingly face the wrath of the Northern storms to go. They all understand the need to succeed here. The more that come with us, the better the chance one of us will make it back with the information we go to find.

When I came to the pier, it was with Silas at my side and Estaban not long behind us. Then I began to see the familiar faces of those whom I asked to risk their lives for this journey; for a risk it will be, if I can believe Duke Asger and Lady Khanne's continued warnings about travel by sea at this time of year. We have to go this way, we voted to travel this way, by this route. If we had more time, if we could wait... then we would travel by land by horse in the summer. But time my friends, is not with us.

So we embark, with prayers to Mangata enlightening our way. I recall the sound of my boots upon the gangplank as I was burdened with the supplies I brought for this journey. It was a heavy sound and it reminded me of the duty I bear. And I bear it willingly, for Arx, for Arvum, for all those I love.

Unloading the gear upon the Unsullied, I looked to her captain and stood with confidence as Princess Katarina was behind the helm. I believe in her abilities, I have no reason to doubt it, though some upon the ship did doubt it, at which I pointed out they could leave before we departed if they discounted her abilities. None did.

The arguement was at an end and so our ship pushed away from the Bay. The oars struck the water in union, the sails were unfurled. It was a sight I will never forget, looking back upon the City I have come to appreciate since my first day stepping through her gates before the siege of our enemies. I put my arm around Silas and said a prayer that we could return to see her again.

I stood upon the decks, watching the sight of Arx fading into the distance and remained there, until I couldn't see the towers or strong walls any longer. Only then, did I set my eyes North.

(OOC: IC Timing is a little off due to RL scheduling and this PRP extending over a few RL weeks -- the date of this journal does not mean the date of the expedition!)

Princess Reese and Prince Calarian will soon be leading an expedition out into the Gray Forest; a mission to negotiate with, not simply subjugate and breed resentment in, the Abandoned within. I suppose this is simply another in the long procession of recent white journals praising their intentions, but I am proud to know House Grayson is served well by righteous and honourable people and that in turn I stand at the head of a righteous and honourable House.

I do hope no one believes that the tale I transcribed is referring to them. It's merely a Bryce Cartillia tale of the variety sold in Magpie Grayhope's shop (though some wise ass left it on a shelf in the Ambassador Salon). All resemblance to sensational bacon and predatory girls, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

I dislike the jumblingly confusing feast white journals may become at times. This trend is not to be confused with a personal dislike for rhetoric and the intricacy of its nature and wording. The distinction appears when we compare a brawl with a duel. In a brawl, there is nothing but two parties aiming to hurt each other for nothing but unpolished pride. On the other hand, the pageantry and nature of a duel turns it into a beautiful sight to take, something for great admiration.

We must not, then, confuse the brawl for the duel. Rhetoric has a clear foundation in the beauty of words and the fencing of two mentally adept parties aiming for educated discussion, and double-tongued phrases on a journal do nothing but render the author as one who has lost all hope in their own virtues.

I hope I can be forgiven for my brusque wording tonight.

Oh Gods, watching so many talented swordsmen and swordswomen go at it was just a pleasure one can't put into words. Prince Valerion, you fought valiantly and your skill is admirable. Princess Ribbons, as always you never disappoint and you fight with the strength of five men. Easily. Now, Lord Ashford. I truly didn't know what to expect from you, mind you the bar was set high because Paladin of Ideals or something. When you were fighting I realized that even though I set the bar head and shoulders above the rest, it was not enough. You are exemplary and while I could say more, the point is made. I was slightly disappointed I didn't see Sparte or Leta in action but in due time I'm sure.

As if the company was not delightful enough at the Training Center, I greatly enjoyed the evening. Duchess Nightgold, as always my love you are so gracious and an extraordinary host. I've always loved the Nightgold's ambiance and joie de vivre but if you feel a change is in order then by all means I fully support this decision. Princess Reese, Lord Killian. Duchess. All very good people whom I greatly enjoy spending time with. I hope everyone has sweet dreams tonight and I look forward to brunch! Or was it dinner? Oh well, either way I sense the Great Prank Wars in the future, Jayus lend me your creativity for this divine purpose.

Arianna brought Reese and Killian over to enjoy the baths. It's occurred to me a little re-arranging of the space may be in order. Everyone seems to love the heated, mineral waters. Especially after all these events and tournaments lately.

Since we're all sharing stories with morals, I thought I'd offer this one:

The Murder Of Crows Story
A Psychological Novel
by Bryce Cartillia

What would you do if you knew there were predatory girls with shocking habits near the ones you love?

The night of the accident changes everything for Una Malkovich, an 18-year-old barmaid from The Murder of Crows.

One moment, she is discussing sausages with her sympathetic lover, Prince Phillip Grayson; the next, watching with horror as predatory girls devour each other.

She knows these girls came from Grayson Mansion but she can't prove it - at least not without some sensational bacon.

The grateful, helpful woman knows that her happy life is over. She acquires some sensational bacon and is reborn as the hero who will save the world from predatory girls.

However, Una finds herself troubled by her happy ideals and becomes overwhelmed with moral questions. Will her conscience allow her to do whatever is needed to stop the predatory girls?
