Bingo, you win. Tied down is most effective.

Mydas, you lose. You owe me 10,000 silver, Nightgold.

Mauls, wood axes, and tool hammers have a lot of heft to them, but are too short and slow for fighting.

A warhammer or mace is better. Course, if they're tied down, suppose it doesn't matter.

I've stopped recording my dreams. I know that I shouldn't. Everything gets all fuzzy around the edges when I can't sort out whether something happened on the far side of sleep. But they're so often the same lately. There's a man holding a scepter and chained to a throne. He offers me a cup of sorrows, and when I drink, it's seawater.

I can barely remember what it's like to dream about anything else.

This is why one should always wear their armor at all times. Yes, all times. You're a Velenosa, I'm sure you can figure a way to pull it off.

Smith's hammers are really heavy and break a lot of bones very easily. Almost no effort at all, actually. Thank you for this lesson, father.

You're a real role model.

I’ve been in touch with several Solace agents across Arvum who report that-

Gods damn it, Scholar, stop humming that fucking Corban song.

For my List of Things:

* Try Setarco Fire. *check mark*
(The above was not originally on the List of Things, but as it has been completed thanks to a rather charming courtesan of House Pravus, Deacon Pateris, I thought its inclusion necessary. It was accomplished during an exceptionally wonderful crossing of a few paths at the Ambassador Salon that words hardly could do justice.)

* Sit in the hot springs of Giant's Reach.
* See the Aerie of Storms in Stormwall.

There are more, but these were ones added this last week and, thus, require recording.

Relationship Note on Apollis

It's such a blessing to have my brother return to the city. Part of me wants to believe it's because he had heard that we're all here and he missed us so much, but he'd probably never say that! So, Apollis, please don't be too upset when you read this - And make sure you take good care of Mara and Raea now that you're back!

The preparations have been made and everything is accounted for. My return to Tor is set and while I truly look forward to going home and spending time with my people there, I will miss the home I have made in Arx. It is temporary but necessary. Winters in Tor are milder than in the city of Arx and I cannot imagine not being able to enjoy the beautiful fragrant gardens of my home with my child in my arms. It is there he or she will be born and be the living bridge of love, faith, and family between Tor and Southport.

Being hit with pastries is not an exercise routine I've tried before. Surprisingly enjoyable. Though I think I might have put any weight I sweated off back on in the eating of them afterward. I came in second in the race, just ahead of Sir Daemon of the Knights of Solace, who put in a very fine showing. If I have to place behind anyone, I've no shame that it's Princess Reese, with her hare-like speed in armor. A fun time, and I hope it raised funds that will do some good in the Lowers.

So many demands in so many directions - we may gather the largest force assembled in some time, only to have a thousand demands nibble its numbers down to nothing if we are not careful. I would tend to rather win one or two battles on the terms I set out than lose in a hundred places. Now was not a good time for the Legate of Arts to leave us - we could have needed his guidance, and it will be missed. His was always a clarion voice in council, simple and direct, and speaking up for the needs of the Orthodoxy.

Ah! I could not give you an alternative without knowing how Darkwater wants to present itself! The old motto is brutal, warlike without care for the lives of opponents or, hm, human obstacles. If this is still true, then mercy is indeed not a virtue the house recognizes. If it is not true, what is true?

Relationship Note on Aislin

I feel as if a quiet has settled over Ward Grayson. It is not a good kind of quiet. It the quiet that used to be filled with the voices of those who are missing.

I haven't wrote on Aislin Ashford yet, partly because I hold out hope that she is out there on another adventure and might return to us soon. Without knowing the truth, I try not to assume anything. I don't where she is, what has happened and if she will return to us.

She was quite woman, meaning she didn't often raise her voice and she didn't often try to draw the focus to herself and yet as many know she had a great many things to say. When Aislin talks it is always worth listening to her. We hope to hear her voice again.

And right now it is quiet, too quiet. I know I am not alone in missing her. Her presence was a rock.
