-I will not stop sending you messengers asking you to clean stuff when I find you've had time to post classifieds about spiderwebs and wood.
-Checking the kitchen to see if you made food.
-Hassling you needlessly.
-Being proud of you.

I still can't quite get over how different the responses have been to my joining Thrax. Some people call me brave, other people act like I just caught the plague, others gave me grief for not picking their fealty. Which was an odd sort of flattery. I think the ones whose first response was to worry for my safety were my real friends, though. They get that I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't important, and nothing important to me is safe.

Not that I want to be a prince. This is a selfless sacrifice for the good of the Compact.
After all, they appear to have run out of noblemen to marry, and it would be a terrible shame if not all royal branches were given the opportunity to flourish until all high lords and ladies had little twenty-second cousins running around just in case first through twenty-first cousins perished in an unfortunate gazebo incident.
I will refrain from sharing my observations of beneficial results from the crossing of unlike types, as gained from a lifetime's experience with the breeding of horses.
Messengers may find me at the royal stables. Please note they are in serious danger of being slobbered to death by my ferocious guard dog.

Wow, people do read this! I got some messengers responding to my last two journal entries. I guess everyone has their own way to pass the time. Anyway, onto the important bits.
I attended a meeting about the oncoming fleet. Scary shit. I got some vague ideas what I should be doing about it. I'll probably inquire to some people I know and see what they are doing and what I can do to help. Though I realize as a beginner duelist I do not have much I can do - yet. I suppose as I grow in fame and talent I will have more resources and skills to work with. Until then all I can do is do what I can until it comes time to defend The Mourning Isles.
Champion by day, lover by night,
Caspian
P.S. I've been advised not to use a mask and was given solid reasoning.

I wish that some words had been given more time and more weight, but the opportunity for such is not lost. At big meetings such as this one, it is often the smaller conversations held afterwards that truly help shape a strategy.

Arx is..different than I thought it would be. It certainly is larger, with all of the people of the compact represented. So lively and so much to do. So many artisans, so much beauty, ingenuity. I look forward to seeking people out and delving into so many different new things. My mind reels at the realization of truly how much there is to do. I seem to arrive when there is a possible invasion coming from the east? Perhaps I could lend talents to a defense effort if the need may be, though my talent would lend heavier to repair than actual battle. Not being particular hardy of body not spirit I've never really swung a sword, a spear. I dont know if I could even string a bow properly. I wish I could do more to help and for all of my intellect I fear I would just be in the way of even the most common soldier. Still, I will do what I can to help the effort to protect woman and man.

Truthful though, I am glad to be involved in such a worthy cause. People of the Lyceum, in particular, please seek me out if you would like to participate in adding your prayers to our fleet.

May the gods hear our efforts and may we come together to pool the resources we need, to try and keep the lights on for Lady Aislin... if not go out there and find her.

There were so many attending I could barely see the race from my place with all the pastries. Marie outdid herself with the baking -- they were both delicious and deliciously satisfying to fling, apparently. The runners looked like they had fun, and some even earned new nicknames -- I'm looking at you, Princess BerryBum! All in all we raised over a hundred and thirty thousand silver for the Lower Burroughs! It fills my heart to see what we can do when we all come together.
Thank you to Duke Cristoph Laurent, for the inspiration and drive. Thank you to Lord Corban Telmar for your spirit and energy and positivity. An thank you to my most wonderful husband, Count Kael Keaton -- thank you for everything.

Relationship Note on Kael
I do hope I did not put too much pressure on dear Kael to wed so soon upon his investiture. Hearing him so lovingly describe his competitors at the Armor Run last night, it leaves me to worry that perhaps he ought to have been left to woo and romp for a bit longer. I fear that I may have deprived the world of years worth of love sonnets, romantic poems, and the like. I suppose he shall have to heap them upon his wife instead! Better fortune for us that he is so dotingly fond of her.

Watched both a duel between two outstanding warriors, and after? a simple armored race between a few of my family members and others representing their fealties. Oh what a good time.
I wonder if there are any archery competitions about......

Hi! You must have a lot of free time on your hands. That or for some weird reason you are a fan of what I write. Or maybe you like keeping up on current events? Well, let me fill you in. So the Rite to Gloria was a smashing success. In that people liked it. Not that I won. I lost. Joslyn is just too damn fast! I only got one strike on her, and she got a few good hits on me. I tried to dodge her long as I can but I couldn't manage it. I enjoyed it, I should probably do one again next year. Maybe put a bit more effort into it. I'm thinking I should do more events where people can fight, especially newer duelists show off their skills. Could I make that into a thing? An series of exhibition matchs? Or a tournament? Someone had suggested doing such and encouraging people to give money and prizes to their favorite fighters. Feel free to steal that idea, though I will try to do it some time soon myself.
The Champion of Your Heart,
Caspian
P.S. Should I wear a mask when I fight? I can't figure out if it would be stylish or silly. Will think this over.
