Never have I seen such a big city. I don't remember my way through it, or even from the docks to where the Harthall carriage was waiting. My head is still a little foggy. I recall voices outside .. so many, too many. It's so loud here. I hear that'll pass too like the fluttering in my belly at the thought of food. Thankfully the curtains were drawn so even the little bit of torchlight were blotted out. Fire is a painful memory.

A few weeks of solitude and devotion to Gloria is what I needed to get my head back on straight. I still can't place what was wrong with me before, but I felt like a different man. Now I can return to my daily activities without fear or conflict.

I have learned much, and yet so little, these past few days. I'm regaining my bearings, for one. The city has changed so much, but I find myself discovering old, familiar places--like friends once thought lost.

Seems like only four days have passed since I was back home. Only four. Logically, it has to have been more then that. The boat here takes far longer. My only memory of that trip, though, is being tossed about like a ball of yarn between the paws of a kitten. My stomach is still a little weak, but they say that'll cure itself in a couple of days.

It is with due sobriety that I thank the Faith of the Pantheon, particularly both the Seraph of Sanctum and the Legate of Concepts, for their review of a matter personal and political; the holy annulment of my marriage to Princess Katarina Valardin. My time within House Valardin has been nothing short of hospitable, though the time comes to acknowledge when a match is not in the best interests of all parties involved.
I further extend my thanks to his grace, Prince Edain, his Voice and sister, Princess Alis, and of course Princess Katarina herself for all they have given in my time amongst them as family. While the union is unmade, it is done so amicably and without ill will. Both our families will separate under good terms, of that I have no doubt. We will go our separate ways, and we will each be stronger for it.
I shall no longer be a prince of House Valardin in the Oathlands, and I shall no longer be a lord of House Grayward within the Crownlands, choosing instead to take my oaths directly to the Crown in my capacities serving the King without bias. I will resume my role amongst the commons as a courtier and dedicate myself as Crownworn to His Majesty, King Alaric IV, the Sovereign of Arx.

Ran across Lord Kaldur Seliki yesterday, having some sort of street adventure. Jumping. Looked quite dangerous. I can't really explain it. Thank all the gods he didn't get killed doing it, whatever it was. Hoping to have a drink with him soon to get him to explain it!

i have been told, by more than one in the city, that I need to have a knight to squire for, in order to begin my knightly training! The very prospect of looking for someone to take on such a common man as myself as their squire? It is a daunting one. Normally I have about as much trouble talking to people about my goals as I do breathing, but this...This might take some doing!

I've been terrible about recording my thoughts....my experiences. One probably can imagine why, right? Well, fair scholar, a lot of why is because I have been busier than I ever have before. Well, no, that's a lie. I've been busy previously, but just not this kind of busy I suppose.

My sister is one of my best teachers. She taught me to say much with little. Every word is worth something and if you are not careful, you will fall into a debt you can not get out of. I wouldn't call her a schemer because that would entitle that you know something about what she was doing. Secretive perhaps, or resourceful. Her daughter, Vanora, perhaps is the same. I would not know. I have kept my distance to spare me from two Caroles in the same room but I hear that she is very proud of my niece.

Nothing I have ever asked of her ever seems to daunt her. I could ask for the moon and she would follow up by asking if I'd like a couple stars to go with it. It's not just her loyalty that I admire, but her unflappable courage. Her sense of adventure. In return, there is nothing I wouldn't do to protect and support her. Loyalty begets loyalty. She might as well be family at this point.

Can't say much about the man other than while I do not appreciate how he has to have a comment about everything, I do appreciate that the times he has spoken to me, it was directly and with professionalism. Understanding the importance of my situation and promptly getting to work on resolving it. If he is anything like his father, I would like to offer him what I couldn't offer his father, a place in my court but I hope he does not mind me, testing him first. Actions speak louder than words.

It has been a long time since I took on a squire and with all this talk about knights and schools, perhaps I should look into finding an appropriate candidate. Ms Mateline Savatier has proven to be instrumental in the recent success of house Blanchard. Our quartermasters ensure me that we have come ahead of the expected shortages and as a result I have more time to pursue other equally important matters. House Moore is lucky to have the Savatier, I see our business flourishing.

What a gala! I would have been incensed at the profligacy, were it not going to a most noble cause. The orphans of Arx deserve better than what Wynna faced. No one should grow up in cases for.
