With the onset of winter comes reasons to stay home, warm and cuddle babies. And then I get all stircrazy and have to go out, to the archives, to the Hall of Heroes, to the Cathedral, to the coffee shop, to whatever party is going on.
I should probably go out more regularly, but I do find myself charmed by every day life.

I managed to stop by Alexio's shop tonight, though I didn't manage it until he was already out. I was lucky enough to get to preview the space before it opened - truly lovely, sure to satisfy anyone who enjoys comfort and a little splendor - likelier to truly please those of the Lyceum, which only makes it well-placed. I very much look forward to seeing what all he manages to stock, and - selfishly - I hope having a proper place to ply his trade means he'll be about the city more.
His staff are perfectly lovely, but I still regret missing him.

My training in small weapons has begun and I am so overwhelmed by the response I have received seeking instructors. I've started with one and will speak with another soon. I am far too excited to hear what the other instructors offer. It reminds me of my training in Setarco; Every teacher had their own spin. I found it most riveting. I am as giddy as a school girl!

So many birds falling from the sky lately. Sad and odd and concerning. I'll be keeping my crow indoors for a while. I'm no expert on avian diseases, but I can't disregard the possibility that she might catch something deadly outside if she's allowed to fly free.

I find myself once again happily indebted to a cousin, with Valentina having been kind enough to assist the furtherance of my education. Though I have spent most of my life in close company of assorted books and scrolls, there are still a great many areas about which I know all too little - especially fields of a more practical kind. Valentina has been able to set my feet on one path to remedying that failing, and I gratefully anticipate further opportunities to reap the fruits of her learning... though I still need to find tutors to help me rectify other areas of ignorance.

We welcomed more brothers and sisters into the Templars here in Arx today. It replenishes our strength, replacing some of those losses suffered at Fournier Pickets, in the campaign into Blackram against the Malardin tribes and The Reaper, in our efforts towards Grayreeve and Beaucage.
So many places our troops have been in the last year or so. But we endure, we grow stronger. And we even have a navy now.
It is sad then to hear as well of two prospective Godsworns who died in the upper boroughs. The Godsworn are inviolate, they must be for the work we must perform. People say what harm is it for the faith to look away, that those who breach our rules, our tenets of faith, do so of ignorance and mean no harm. Their crime is small. That may be true, each small blasphemous utterance. Each small heretical thought. Each profane misuse of the shrines or holy ground. They are each small. But they risk something else. They risk others misunderstanding, thinking that the Faith no longer cares, or worse that the people no longer care about the Faith.
I do not know if that is what happened in this case, but it is something that worries me. The Faith is the light against the dark. It must burn bright, and never so much as flicker. For in that flicker's moment of darkness? Horrors lurk.
