Relationship Note on Sparte

Putting out word to all young, eligible beauties. If you see this strapping young Guardsman at the pub or party, drag his ass to the dancefloor. Ignore his protests and discomfort. It's all just playing hard to get.

What a truly brilliant night our last Sunday spar turned out to be. I do not think I have had such fun in some time. Gods, I am so grateful to those who came to make this night a delight.

The matches were outstanding. Dame Esoka Greenblood vs. Lord Ansgar Blackram; Lady Joslyn Stonewood vs. Marquis Cirroch Sanna; Lord Corban Telmar vs. Lord Darrow Darkwater; Lord Luis Igniseri vs. Master Waldemai Isenhu and Lord Luis Igniseri vs. Baron Estaban Saik displayed the most remarkable skills in some of the best matches I have seen in some time.

Lord Graham Stonewood as always was a delight and so very helpful seeing that guests were well welcomed. I delighted in the company of so many beautiful and wonderful people. I was beyond thrilled to see Lady Lucita Ignisere, Count Thesarin Riven, Count Kael Keaton, Lord Ian Kennex, Princess Sasha Valardin, Master Zerric Memphit, Missere Aksel Nygard and the newly arrived Lord Marcos Saik as well.

I cannot wait for our next events! They keep getting better and better.

Relationship Note on Tessa

I had a lovely time with the Lady Tessa Moore. She is a bright light, and more thoughtful than I think some give her credit for. And now I am intrigued by the idea of a Concept of Legates, although I would certainly agree that I am not one. Perhaps it should be a statue series? Concept of Disciples, Concept of Godsworn, Concept of Seraphs, Concept of Archlectors, Concept of Legates, Concept of Dominus.

It might be intriguing to see who would be the model for each one, hmm?

Relationship Note on Ferrando

I love my brother with every fiber of my being, but sometimes it is hard to be an older sister. You spend your days wondering why he doesn't send you messengers any more. Or why he's not telling you the latest gossip. Or why HE wasn't the one to show you the Whisper House. I would never say that that this is to try to get my brother to keep in touch, buuuuuut... I miss when one doesn't offer to have me over for dinner.

Rando -- Did you forget you had a sister that you love so very much?

When I imagined becoming Duchess of Tyde in my girlhood, I never imagined I would spend so much time discussing marriages.

Relationship Note on Orazio

Darling readers and adoring fans,

I had tea with the Concept of Legates today.... nope Legate of Concepts. To be honest I thought that he would be TERRIBLY dull but I have never been so thrilled and delighted to be wrong! He was wonderful company, a delightful conversationalist AND I must, between you and me dear readers, admit he was VERY handsome. He told me to call him Father and I admit I was tempted to call him Daddy at least once!

I know! Scandal! But I managed to for once in my entire existence, restrain myself and be very proper as one should with a holy man. Admittedly, it was VERY difficult.

Still, what a day. What a wonderful and lovely day!

Now I have been instructed to locate a steward. Someone to do the boring things for me.

I hope all of you have had as wonderful days as I have!

Splendiferously,
Lady Tessa Moore

Trying times bring out the best in people. The outpouring of love and devotion to cleanse Mangata of this latest attack has been reassuring. Faith in our people, faith in our Gods. This is how we will be victorious in our ongoing conflict. Faith that our forefathers left us the tools we'll need and faith that the Gods will guide us to them. I have nothing but confidence in our people and our allies.

I have suspects. All of them are people (or things) I will happily spit in the eye of. They made the pre-emptive strike. As a military commander I have to appreciate it. Nothing says 'Fuck you, Malvici' more than making us look like incompetents.

I will find a way to fuck back, oh believe me. Harder. With spikes on it.

"We can evolve given the space and time to grow."

I suffered, I learned, I changed. Never has such a statement been more true. May the lessons that I've learned in the depths of the mind guide me ever further toward a deeper connection with Him and through Him all things. The truths I've gleaned during the silent retreat suffuse my very soul.

And here I was worried I would share a birthday with our next child. Two full weeks before mine, thankfully. The birthday cake will remain spaced out. Cara and I met our son in the early hours of this morning, one Arber Grayson, named after His Majesty and in honor of Berthold Ruger, a man I was blessed to know in life.

The coffers are empty, save for thirteen coins which I'm certain are not symbolic in any way.

What an interesting economic challenge. In truth, forgive me, I am a little excited to try my hand at it. But I hope it won't be too taxing.

I have been told to speak to the Thrax. How does one do that? Do I just show up and say hey, you, let's talk about that water thing? Or better yet, how ya doin'? How's the lightning?

Maybe I should learn etiquette.

Clothes don't care about your manners though.

Although, one should not try to hug Lark. She looks completely huggable, but it upsets her. Something about not knowing a person and touching and .. you know stuff and things.

Anyways, if anyone wants to talk about things, just send me a message.

Relationship Note on Hadrian

There are those among us that do not lift a weapon made of steel to fight, but instead use their words. Some hold lofty titles as nobles, diplomats, courtiers; while others, just as skilled, claim only to be merchants, tavern keepers, or conmen. Just as anyone, regardless of social strata, might pick up a sword and use it, so can words be wielded with great effect by the high and low alike. In my experience, these wordy warriors fall into similar categories as their martial counterpoints.

Some wield blunt weapons, seeking to use the force of their impact to achieve their goals. They will bludgeon and batter you with their views until you yield or fall beneath the press of their onslaught.

Others will arm themselves as a knight, protecting their thoughts in layers of padding and hardened edges before wading into battle.

And then there are those that can use their conversations like a proper duelist. Quick, sharp rapiers their tongues become, dazzling to behold. Each responds is a honed riposte, each counter-argument a parry, and the space between filled with the flash of cloak or the dance of feet. These are the men and women that understand a conversation can be entertainment; that conversation does not have to drive straight to the end, nor does it have to be something dreaded. You can talk to another person for the thrill of it.

Marquis Hadrian is a duelist. I spoke with him to no real point, yet I was entertained the entire time.

When I took up the role of Voice of Bastion, I told myself that I needed to learn politics and the ways of polite society's etiquette better. In doing so, however, I think I have become less straight forward. I have found myself not being honest at times where I wish I were. But no longer. I will from this moment forward attempt to be as straight-forward and as honest, but as kind, as I can be in my opinions and dealings with people.

Every new beginning is a new hope, waking with the dawn.

I know that there are those who doubt the love of the gods, and I forgive them their doubt -- of course I do -- but I cannot share it. I have no doubts. Not about that.

The love of Death is as certain as the morning and the evening, one after the other, as sure as the Wheel. I know it to be true, and I can only say thank you.
