Disappointments happen, and things can grow dark and terrible. But then, you wake up the next day and realize that it is not the end of the world. That there are still things. Life is there, people are there.
Seriously, disappointment is a bad look for me. I'm not letting the entire thing get me down! I will study more, and I will take the trials again. If I do not make it into the Society at that point, then I may need to rethink my entire life choice at that point. I could be come one of those ladies that has a bunch of adorable kittens. I like kittens, they are fuzzy and cuddly.

I attended an Evening of Bliss in Whisper House and...
Words grow poor. Truly. The Lady of the Evening was a delight. I met old friends and was introduced to new acquaintances. I've now met Prince Tyrval of the Nox'alfar. Who was also the very first Nox'alfar I met.
It was a night that set the head spinning, from stepping inside, to watching the dramatic tale spun - quite literally - by Bliss Whisper and her companion Alberto (I think that was the name - please forgive me, master Whisper, I did not get the time to speak to you)
Softest Whisper Saedrus, and whispers Nisaa and Jhond likewise ensured that every guest had everything they could dream of. It was radiant.
Stories of love and loss were shared, in keeping with the theme of the evening. We fed each other food. We... Relaxed. For one night, everything was perfect.
Thank you, Bliss. I needed that.

I do not quite know what I was expecting when I would finally have a one on one chat with the King. Perhaps I assumed someone a bit stuffier, perhaps regal, but King Alaric is honestly quite pleasant to be around.

At least it has no new damage, just some sand stuck to it, maybe a little wine stain here and there, some seaweed mushed into one corner, but perhaps it will never be noticed.

It seems I'll have a busy week coming up, and this week has been emotionally tiring in unexpected ways. I enjoyed going out and watching the Deepwood falconry event, at least, and I'm contemplating trying my hand at falconry once more. I sort of gave up on it as a squire, when the bird I was given seemed to be a winged demon who hated me.
But maybe I was just as frightening to the bird.

I can attest to the fact that I did turn over my victory to Miss Mae. So indeed, it does make The Thing hers. I should probably be grateful she choose it, sparing the rest of us. Though it did not spare me this bear mask... (which I have put in a place of honor above my work desk).

The outtings to the Gray Forest have been a constant source of surprises. The situation out there doesn't seem to be something that can be improved without concerted and continuing effort, but I see a lot of good people out there volunteering time and effort to do just that. It makes me happy to see so many volunteering to raise arms for a dangerous task, and mostly, out of a desire for helping others.

The Carlotta has been named and blessed. It's a strange thing to see a vision given form in reality. She is just as beautiful as I had imagined. I'm not sure if my aunt would have ever aspired to have a ship named for her, but perhaps -this- ship would be acceptable. A ship like none other in the Compact, just as she was like none other in the Compact.

Wife got a dog at the party. I did all the work, she just had to spear the rings. Way I see it, the mutt is at least half mine and I helped name him, too. Besides, that ugly creature needs all the friends he can get. Mice and rats beware, the Scourge will be upon them.
