Today my vows were brought into question.
Not in disbelieve, but literally questioned.
As if there were not a knight in the realm
who did not take his oath seriously. I will
not sully my chastity outside of marriage.

I've discovered that it's -impossible- to work when you have the end of the world flapping around your head, like a flying rodent that pelts you with stinging nettles.

It has been a bit strange not spending so much time around the tower, but then again I also feel very separated as well. I have never been one to gossip and to listen to rumors, I have always been the straight forward kind. Maybe this is why I feel disconnected, I don't know. But I will keep on my path and know that Gloria will guide me on my new adventure.

Soup stones are catching on with the Guard, but I just found some fool who'd plucked a mossy rock out of the dirt and stuck it straight in a stew. I managed not to lose my temper, barely. Lost a cousin today to the Faith... but we all gained a brother, I suppose. Aureth's scared me over the last few months that I've been back in the city, but now that I'm starting to understand some of what's going on around him, I suppose I feel lucky to be close to someone doing such incredible things.

The city is..strange. It's an adjustment. The people are not what I expected, but then I suppose I was not sure what to expect. The Redrain have been hospitable and kind, for the most part, and I am glad to see Petal striving and her business taking off. But, I do worry that we have fled from danger to danger. I have pledged myself to stand upon the wall and provide what aid I can as a volunteer for Redrains troops.

I wonder, how many days it will be before they push. How long before we must stand and fight, or fall, and this will all be decided. The waiting is the hardest part, and it tests each moment our resolve to persevere in the face of what is to come.

I've watched a fair amount of sparring matches over the past few weeks and months. It puts into good relief what I am giving up, what I am, and what mistakes I made. Watching others train as I so casually did months ago makes me think about my oath to my house. The reflection is good, the itch to be back to where I was before is good too. I think its all needed.

I find Duke Asger Crovane to be an interesting and humourous man with a good head on his shoulders. I've greatly enjoyed the friendship we have created and look forward to stronger bonds between Redrain and Crovane as time marches on.
