It pleases me to see so many White Journals indicating others take pleasure in visiting the Menagerie. It is one of my favorite places in the city. Animals have always fascinated me, from the things that crawl and climb to the things that slither and fly. I wonder if life had not led me on the road I walk now, if I might have been some kind of naturalist, learning about all the animals of the world.
I wonder if some kind of society could be formed who are interested in such matters; not explorers per se, but rather naturalists who find flora and fauna fascinating, whether they are mere dilettantes such as myself, or those with greater expertise.

When not drilling unskilled swordsmen from the Lowers, or taking them on patrol, I have spent more time in the siege reading than I would care to admit or ever though likely. That Aislin has a tome for nearly anything I've been looking for has helped considerably, and reading while soaking in a hot bath is a luxury I never imagined before. Though, as a side note, I do need to replace 'Scholar Archibald's History of Sanctum.' I'll have to see if anyone has a copy...Nyx startled me, and... well, I'm sure you can see where this goes.
I have been reading mostly about the knightly orders that have existed in the past in Arvum. The Order I'm creating will be a militant one and I believe I've found a model that will work for organization. We will have three branches organized beneath the Grand Master, each represented on an advisory council for the Order itself, and each with an important part to play in in our mission.
There will be the Knights. Men and women from around the Compact who hold a Knighthood from their liege will form the core of the militant order. These will be heavy horse that we will see well trained, exemplars of virtue and honor.
There will be the Sergeants. Men and women who are trained in battle but not knighted. Armsmen and specialists who will help oversee our efforts to seek out the evils of the world and eradicate them.
Then there will be the Sages, men and women learned and kept out of combat, who will help not only research our foe and chronicle our history but also tend to our intellectual and spiritual needs.
