Relationship Note on Regla
Lady Regla Navegant is an interesting woman. I don't quite know what I expected of a Thrax warrior woman. She was not it. And I mean that in a good way. She seems to have a reasonable amount of confidence - and good tastes. And I look forward to figuring something out for her.
Plus, I was able to point her in mistress Manicelli's direction as well. Which surely accounts for something.

The Duke Telmar spoke to me. He finds me youthful and idealistic, I think. Maybe too much of both.

Dame Greenblood is a fine knight. I've been talking to her about the Gold Order, and about Guardsman Fatchforth's initiative and about other things. She's an interesting woman. A fine knight. And I think we have more in common than not. Such as almost unreasonably large shoes to fill.

I have spent my first week as Count. In that time, I have realized I have to look over both the military and the running of a house. For a long time I only had to deal with one. Now, it's two very large jobs I had to take care of. With no training or preparation, it's far more intimidating than I had thought.
Regla is adjusting well, she's taken up to being Voice of Navegant and Sword better than I had expected. I'm proud of her progress, though I have yet to tell her that personally.
Speaking of, Regla brought in a man of the Salt, named Skapti. A solid man it looks like, one that I can rely upon. With any luck, once I see his measure upon a boat, I would be inclined to offer him a Captainship within the fleet.
And lastly, a cousin of mine showed up upon my doorstep, Lady Skye Blackshore. She may be the last of her line, unless she finds her father, which I have no idea of, but plan to help her as I can. I've made her a Ward of Navegant until she finds her footing or her family. However, I share a private hope that maybe she'll want to stay with us.
A week of ups and downs, but I'd like to think I scored more successes than loses.

Yet another surprise from House Thrax. The daughter of a thrall who became a Whisper and then became the wife of a lord and sea captain. That she is now Voice of House Darkwater, yet no longer married to that lord speaks to her resilience and acumen. All the more strange that we met when she was walking the beach because of a broken heart. Some things are bigger than we are.

I have only met Marquis Rymarr Deepwood briefly. He seems to wear formality like armor and I found that it both made him feel distant and comforting at the same time. I hope he might become a friend in time, but for now, there is something reassuring about the heft of his title and the gravitas of his welcome, some measuring stick for the growth of trust and the rewards of service.

Relationship Note on Dominic
Though he has been supportive at times in the past, I cannot readily ignore Dominic's misplaced intentions in challenging me for the Sword. It was foolish for many reasons, and hopefully in defeat he sees that. I would prefer to mend our relationship, though clearly there is a rift. He justified himself with many of my past actions, and now, in turn, this event will color my perception of him. It would be good if we came to an understanding, but it remains to be seen if such a thing will be possible.

I had another vision! Oh, it was my best set of paintings thus far, a triptych sold to Lady Carita Darkwater. I'm not sure why everyone kept complaining about the content. I made a small sculpture for Princess Alis as well, and two paintings for Marquis Ford. People know me now! And they ask for my paintings!

Calling Duarte Amedeo a friend is probably a little presumptuous of me. But as far as conversations go, I've probably spoken with him by now the most other than my brothers and sisters in the King's Own. He's smart, witty, and sports a beard that while it'll never be as great as mine, comes close, I suppose. He's been helping me with a few things, and really he has no reason to. So there's that.

The Mistress Whisper was as charming as the whole lot of them tend to be. Pretty too, which made paying attention to her rather easy. But really, she was more than that if I'm honest to myself, which often I am. The lass was intriguing, very much so. And the fact that she found me as she did, adds to that intrigue. I might be getting old, but I still love me some intrigue, and a pretty girl. Maybe I'll get a chance to get to know her better.

Relationship Note on Rymarr
The former Lord Commander of the King's Own is now a Marquis. The lad's done well for himself. I met him, and he was rather helpful. And yet, I couldn't help but wonder. Is he happy? Does he feel fulfilled? It's a silly thing to wonder, truth be told, and none of my damned business really. At least he has the sense to treat his horse right. That should keep him from going around getting himself stupidly broken up.
