Relationship Note on Jeremiah

He likes laughing into his drinks. Does it a lot. Even when wine tastes like piss. It's a little weird.

But to each their own.

Relationship Note on Samantha

Ran into her at the Trader's. Stare at her a lot, which might have been a little creepy, but in my defense I was looking for potential coin.

She knows my name, if she wants to throw coin my way, she'll find me.

Relationship Note on Nadia

Now this one ain't a princess, but apparently likes going around saving princesses from seedy drinking places. Which is fine, because I wasn't getting paid crap for keeping that princess safe.

She came in, took her princess with her, and left. Easy on the eyes, but , what is with Silks just dropping into the Murder these days?

Fearless or crazy, I ain't sure which one is it yet. 'Highness walks into the Murder of Crows, like it's the Silks drinking hole. You could seen everyone's eyes just lighting up.

She ain't wearing that much too, which well, didn't help. So there I was, being a great hero, the kind that would make the Captain General proud if I was paid for, that is, and dragged her to a table to save her from the mugging that was certainly incoming.

Gods, these Silks. She was fine looking, but, these Silks. Anyway, her friend goes and shows up and takes her away, after that spitfire blacksmith gave her a piece of her mind.

Oh Arx, how I missed you.

Praying calmer seas or at least safe harbour. What started out as a lovely day with fine wine and good company had turned into a rather awful mess. Though I will gladly admit there were a few silver stars in an otherwise gloomy sky. I am grateful to those few lights. My ship would be lost without them. Though still at this rate all may be lost in this storm.

By the thirteen, what for the love of all is wrong with me?

Shall try again tomorrow.

I saw a sloth for the first time.

I do not understand their purpose. Nor how they've survived this long. They do not provide meat or any other noteworthy product.

Perhaps some Abandoned tribes use their claws as weapons? Positively fearsome, no doubt.

I will have to inquire further with appropriate parties to determine if they have any military applications. Perhaps they can be used to guard the palace alongside the King's Own, should the Lady Regent deem them suitable.

I love Gemecittan quartz. It's a soft stone but also inexpensive, has a variety of colors in a single specimen, and easy to shape and polish.

It's a veritable palette to work from, with a thousand colors and often, I never get the same combination of hues twice. It makes for some interesting designs.

I do hope you come see it. I'm planning on making the same fine, high quality designs in less-expensive metals, so that anyone can afford them.

Oh? You like these? They're a part of a s-

It seems my family's actions has reached me despite my departure. I don't know what Cassius did or did not do, but I find Her Highness Serafine's letter to be exceedingly amusing. Let it be known there shall not be war, unless my cousin Nadia wishes it, while Cassius and Serafine work out their differences. Hopefully this letter will reach them at a time when they've come to their senses.

You want my opinion? At the end of the day, I punch out like every single one of you. I inspect my fields, insure lines are running properly, and that my investors and clients are content. I applied myself and that is all that matters. The crown knows what I am about, they know about my interest in serving the city I was born and raised in. That they did not choose me as minister, alright stings a little, but I would not have been a proud loyalist if I disagree with the crown's wisdom. If anything it means I have to work harder or that politics is not my thing and perhaps I should stick to being a merchant. I am sure my investors would also appreciate that I concentrate on their business after all.

Apparently, the key to treating successfully with elves is to be liberal in the application of both sarcasm and alcohol.

How do you put to word one of the most extraordinary moments of your life?

With the birth of your children, describing it (at least for me) has always been easy. It is like taking your heart and putting it into the tiny, wailing person they've just placed into your arms. Nothing is ever the same and you know you'd give your life in a blink of an eye to save theirs.

Being knighted? Holy shit. I'm a knight. I can still say 'shit' right? I knelt in The Vow and swore my oaths. /The Vow/ of House Valardin. How many knelt there before me? Do I deserve to count myself among them? I will hope I can prove so. I would truly rather die than fail His Grace, Prince Edain.

The badge His Grace gifted me with - I know it is Guildmaster Joscelin's work as well as she would know mine. That she is a piece of this somehow means a lot. The manor near Sanctum, with a forge... That this was shared before members of House Valardin and Greenmarch only makes me feel more blessed and grateful. Words truly fail me when I try to describe how honored and humbled I am by His Grace's faith in me, in bestowing this unimaginable honor.

Dame Ida Ferron, Hammer of the West. That's me. It still feels so new on my tongue.

Also, the bruise that is quickly blooming on my jaw? Never let it be said that His Grace can not punch nearly as well as I. A story for another time, that.

[From an entry describing the positions and duties of a man employed as a clerk in Whitehold, and his attempts to scrimp and save for travel south to Arx. The entry is written in a precise, flowing, almost delicate hand, and the beginning of it follows:]

My exit from the orphan at fourteen led me into harsher conditions, but at least these were mostly self-imposed. I knew I must head south into Arx, for my chances as even an unemployed pauper would be better than my chances as the head of all clerks in Whitehold. Each week, I would set aside...
