Relationship Note on Sorrel

Attended a concert hosted by Princess Sorrel Thrax. Unfortunately I didn't arrive in time for the song, but I was able to at least enjoy the informative aspects of the gathering.

One question in particular caused me to think about some aspects of the world. With all the time in the world, I imagine one would take up a hobby such as doilies and all of that. Makes sense to me.

I gathered that the next concert regarding the Metallics will be about one called Silver. I hope that I won't fuss over what to wear before the next concert so that I can be punctual with my arrival.

The three questions I immediately have for all prospective candidates for the Commoner's Council:

1. Which projects are nearest and dearest to your heart, that you hope to see organized and realized through this board?
2. When you run into intransigent opposition - furious Peers, someone stonewalling you for their own political gain, injustices committed against you - how will you attempt to resolve these matters?
3. What is it about you that should make us select you to represent our concerns over any of the other candidates?

If one door closes another must be opened somewhere. I must redouble my efforts to find a stage to perform on. Cousin Kaia has talked about perhaps holding an event for the house and I'd be glad to help and perhaps get my name out and about more.

I am very pleased by the response to the military discussion. I am very much looking forward to this event.

Relationship Note on Kaldur

I am excited to see what this new transport network can bring - and whether we can connect to the waterways as we hope. There are certainly risks - attacks on the crews or traffic on the route - but you do what you can. If it fails, we try something else. We find another way.

Who operates the Swirl of Silk? Gasp. They have this one item that stands out of black seasilk and gold embroidery that simply is perfect and I wished more stores carried items in those colors.

Relationship Note on Sparte

An interesting musing from Disciple Sparte. I must admit, I had not given too much thought to it. Penance cannot always make up for the failing that requires it - sometimes it can only show contrition, a request for forgiveness, a willingness to humble yourself. It does not wipe away the act. And sometimes penance is also the end - the difference then between that and punishment is that the act of penance that puts one in the danger that takes your life is one you walk to on your feet. As opposed to crawling on your knees to the headman's block.

With the help of some funding from the Order, I started a broker business this week. I believe it's going quite well, a large number of people have approached my representative to trade their assets for silver at a fixed rate saving them the time and effort involved in finding a better deal. I hope with Gilds favor I'll find a good use for the margin.

I have been enjoying having a child. Aileyna's little smile takes the edge off of me. I want the world to be a better place for my little girl, so that when she takes over my seat as duchess, she has it easier than I ever did. I love her dearly.

She looks like her father, which only serves to endear him further to me. She is a sweet thing, even when she is upset. So curious, so new, so little.

I hope she grows up to be as great a woman as her namesake.

It feels as though the number of mercenaries around doubles with each passing day. I know scholar, a fit of hyperbole - but there are more, or so it seems. A sign of the time perhaps. Especially after the losses many houses and the Faith took in the war with the Gyre. In light of the continued losses. I do not ever pretend to understand the mercenary life - but I suppose that is one of the many reasons I am not one, and they are. Yet, they are also some of the few who seem to understand that the enemy is tearing at our throat, his fingers held just out of reach of their target by a chain that is ever slackening. Perhaps one more push - one more heave - and that chain will slip that final inch.

It was a great pleasure performing my Ode to Copper. She is loved, and she needs to know that she is loved. It was wonderful hearing the whole audience sing for her.

I have some stories that I'd like to share about her that I didn't have time to share previously. People should get together with me if they're interested in hearing more.

I've really enjoyed this concert series and I will be sad when it is finally done, but in a proud sort of way.

Relationship Note on Kedehern

My forced bed rest has seemed to affect Mal a bit, he has been rather grumpy and a huge brat as of late. Acting out, he recently took hair clasp of mine, that was given to me by a dear friend. Thankfully the person he decided to "give" it to, was a kind and honorable. Thank you again, Lord Kedehern, for the return of the hair clasp.

I am excited to increase my collection of books and figures!. I just found how to get figurines of Whispers. Whisper Juniper makes them. That was good news. I also got three of Master Jyri's pantings. Some who shall not be named got me a blue gown. I might wear it one day, we will see.

It is good to be returned to Arx again. It isn't that I dislike the north, but the snow I've already heard people complain about here felt more like the Autumn there.

When I assumed the responsibilities of minister of productivity for Setarco, I was given a title by the Duchess. She named me her Silken Wolf. My duties before that appointment were as Admiral of House Pravus' fleet and beyond serving our Iron Kraken fighting our enemies abroad, I was task with safeguarding its harbors and the trade routes of our silk merchants. When my position as minister became official, that same fervor and pride me and my crew showed at sea, we mirrored in land and to this day, it is with our efforts that the city produces like clockwork, like a warship at sea. I see to every other ministers' needs to insure that they have the tools they require to see to the needs of the people but more importantly, I provide them with a voice. A voice with a difficult reputation but one that has the ears of the silks, one that is no longer afraid to stand up, and one that can back up its bite. I have cultivated a respect with my peers and those above me, and I have shown them that I can get shit done. I do not offer promises to the commoner's council, what I offer is a track record that shows that I will fight for you here in Arx with the same fervor and pride as back home in Setarco but to see this done, we need to have a good team and the following people I believe are perfect for the job: Stygia Ulbran, Theodoric Ulbran, Aleksei Morgan, and Captain Evaristo. My ship, the Bullshark of Setarco, calls the docks at the Lower Boroughs its home and while it is a bit treacherous stairs down to the slip where our skiff stands, our doors are open but I am more than happy to see you and speak with you where you wish (with exception of the Thrax ward for reasons that you are better off asking their officials than me). Thraxians commoners, we are blood and if you wish for me to represent you, you know full well that I will and any difficulty with Thraxian nobility will not impede this but if conflict can be avoided, we will do all that we can to accomodate a meeting somewhere else. If that is not an option then the others I have mention, have my full confidence to see to your issues. Thank you for this attention.

I cannot quite believe just how much money I have been able to make in so little time. I sit here in my newly furnished quarters and I ask myself why it is I waited so long to come to Arx. This place is a gold mine. I have been burning through commissions until my fingers ache. I have not sewn this much since I was a young apprentice listening to Esme criticize my uneven hems. That woman, how I cursed her name when she kept me up, night after night stitching the same bit of cloth over and over until I would bet that I could sew with my eyes closed. Never make that bet. No matter how good you might be, trust me. It is a stupendously bad idea. Still. Her persistence has forged me into the artist I might never have otherwise been.
