Thank yous go out to all those who hosted the Tournament of Thorns this week. After a Bronze thorn, Silver thorn, and Steel thorn; I showed up alongside my fellow Whitehawks -- Baron Silas and Lady Evonleigh -- before then going down the Path of the Wise Potential Ruler. I did not do too poorly as runner up against Princess Zara Valardin, who ended up taking 1st place, doing so in that preliminary piece as well as 1st place over the whole tournament as the Queen Zara of Aildorich. Well Done! Princess Denica Thrax took 2nd overall, while Count Athaur Rivenshari took 3rd overall, too. Quite the occasion!

I had a dream recently, one that was frightening. I knew it would be going into this. But what happened in it was unexpected. Now I need to find out if someone will teach me Sylv'alfar. And to perhaps starting trying to do some research into them, more then what I already know about them that is.

I understand that our Cardian guests were invited to discuss a number of subjects at the Academy, ranging in subject from ancient history to recent history, to of course, their outspoken contempt for the Faith of the Pantheon versus whatever outlandish sky worship they appear to follow instead.

I sincerely hope that those who listened to, or who now read, the words spoken at such an event remember the context in which they are given. As any Scholar would tell you, primary sources are an excellent source of study, but any material must be taken with a keen understanding of the nature of its source.

Study and learn; ignore no knowledge, for that would not serve either Vellichor nor your own understanding; but do remember your principles.

Ah! The glorious scents of the Pridehall gardens in full bloom beckon me home.
How wonderful!~
I'm so thrilled to be here during the most pleasant of times;
but, I do admit, I miss my sweetheart.

Although busy, mother and father seem quite glad to see me; and,
odd enough, they have been making sure to spend more time with me.
Surely, they must suspect we won't be doing this as much once I am officially
to move to my new residence in Southport with my beloved Martino.

The Tournament of Thorns went amazingly well! So many people vying to be the King or Queen of a country we made up. Princess Zara Valardin took first, followed by Princess Denica Thrax in second. Count Athaur Rivenshari took third and won the astounding ring.

I do not envy Princess Zara's prize.

Blue sky of mine, I shall always be your sunshine.

Thank you for always making me smile, even when times are troubling. And the gown is gorgeous. You know me too well, better than I know myself.

Relationship Note on Ida

Dame Ida Ferron has outdone herself so many times before, it doesn't seem possible to keep doing it, and yet she does. Her selection of hairpins adorned by skulls and spiders to honor the Queen of Endings and Beginnings for the upcoming Festival of Death are just so delightful and charming. I would never have thought myself to be pleased to wear a spider or skull in my hair, but I will do so happily, for they are so adorable. And as some of the proceeds are being donated to the Harlequins as well, she is generous as well as talented.

I'm told that Baron Norwood's gardens have finally recovered from the disaster. We'll see how long they last this time.

The strangest thing of having been gone for so long is to remember the names, but not the faces. Many I knew thirteen years ago as children have since become men and women in full. Time moves ever forward, but it is not since my arrival in Arx that I've come to realize the wisdom of that particular saying.

Are researchers and bookworms in fashion once again? Of late, it has seemed so: in recent weeks I have had more calls upon my time and requests for aid than has been the case for a long time. I would be truly delighted to share many of my tales and fragments; unfortunately, most of those requested in recent times indicate serious concerns about the future. That people desire to learn more, to better judge how to proceed, is certainly to be welcomed, however. I hope that I have been able to provide at least a little insight.

On a whim I decided to try to gather some thorns, and ended up with them all. While I did not win in my category to go on to the final, I was thrilled to be a spectator and even more so that my patron Zara took the "crown."

Congratulations to the winners, and a thank you to all of the committee members who put on the challenging and fun tournament.

One of my students whom I decidedly failed to turn into a bookworm. Instead, she has grown up dashing, bold, and well-suited to her role as Sword of Setarco. To her further credit, she is keen to seek assistance from those who possess skills she doesn't when she thinks that such things are needed.

I cannot and will not speak for others but I am so proud of you sister for everything you have accomplished in these months since you completed your Physician training.

The day you manage to properly knock me down in the ring will make me even more so.

I will not make such a thing easy though.

What kind of plans have I been looking at, lately, cause of you? An aerie. Sounds real neat -- and while I don't have a mind for building or these overly technical drawings -- I'm going to do my best to support you and see this come to be. Graypeak's going to have an aerie.

First -- yeah, I got to figure out what an aerie _is_.

Things change. I got to work harder to remember that. While I might miss what used to be: all those lost opportunities, those conversations that won't happen, the friends I can't make -- all that's pretty thinking, but it's that's all it is. Thoughts. Thoughts pass. Things change.

The play! The play!

It was a resounding success! Lady Evonleigh Whitehawk's amazing play was a resounding success. With yours truly in the lead role and all the others who added their amazing talents to it.

When's the next one?
