As hunts go the recent one organised by Princess Zara seemed to be a success. I was a little irked when I was discovered the post hunt feast wasn't to be held at the Lodge to Petrichor, mainly due to the fact that I'd been waiting there patiently for them to return.
However when I managed to track down the feasters I recieved a warm welcome and a plateful of food. It's heartwarming to see that Petrichor hss seen fit to reinvigorate the forest again so we can partake of it's bounty.

It feels so good to be back in front of paper and books. To say whatever ideas spring to mind and refine them bit by bit, shaping them into new forms. I have found a spirit missing long ago. What awoke in Stormwall lands? What urges such tides of creativity?

Princess Zara and Princess Tikva hosted a lavish hunt, although I'm afraid I missed the chase since I arrived at the feast late. I managed to secure a plate of food, catch up with some old friends and even make some new ones. Overall, I enjoyed the evening greatly. It reminds me to be more social.

It is a curious, precarious thing to open one's heart after guarding it for so long. The sheer terror it induces is second only to the terror that comes with being on the cusp of actually achieving something you have wanted desperately for one's entire adult life. Daydreams are safer. Daydreams can't hate you.

However, if we do not have the luxury to live in our daydreams. We must stand strong, with courage, as is right for someone who deserves such things.

A while back I made note that Houndmouth'd found his way back to Arx, and I am real glad now to say that he has taken a break from the singing to start spilling ink across pages once again.

I'd never discourage a soul from doing whatever it is they love, but he was always a better writer than he was a singer. They don't call him Houndmouth the Bard for nothing, now.

No offense to Sir Floppington or any of them fine Keaton folk's nice animals.

It might be that seeing him get back to the good work like that will put some fire beneath Strongtall and Half-Mast even. Half didn't even count none of his silver from our last haul, I think he is feeling a little under the weather as of late.

Since the Great Patronage Fair, keeping in touch with the good Lady Darkwater and pleased she sees me as a patron now.

Where you wish to grow, I promise to open those doors for you and your husband as well. Along with hopefully remind you of your Lyceum roots.

The Great Patronage Fair was a superb event, well planned and excellently hosted. What was also good was coming away having met some incredibly interesting people along with a new protege.

Relationship Note on Rukhnis

My sigil is not an unburied skull,
laughing,
but a newborn's head,

crowning.
I am the queen of furrows.

The ditch that
embraces
a body
exhausted from life
and
the channel from which life,
refreshed,
gasps to breath

again.
I am a mother first.

You enter the city through Fontanel Gate, which is guarded by red wardens who cast oblique glances at your bundles. You pass beneath an archway and find yourself within a tunnel; its compact fullness surrounds you; carved in its walls is a pattern of shattered diamonds that tell the tale of Skald's inevitable victory over Fate.

You advance for hours and it is not clear to you whether you are already in the city's midst or still outside it. Every now and then at the edges of the street, a cluster of black spires seems to indicate that from there the city's texture will thicken. However, you find instead other vague spaces: a neighborhood of metallic workshops, warehouses packed with bijous, a reflecting pool surrounded by scrawny shrines.

If you ask the people you meet, 'Where is the city?' they make a broad gesture which may mean 'Here,' or 'Farther on, or 'All around you,' or even 'In the opposite direction.'

Finally you reach a gate guarded by red wardens who cast oblique glances at your bundles. Stepping into a tunnel carved with the tale of Fate's decision to defeat Skald, you realize that this city is only ever the outskirts of itself.

I have been considering getting out of town for a bit. I love Arx and the people within, but I feel as if I am slowly burning out.

There is so much to do here and I have the energy for it all, but I find I have little downtime.

I know downtime is good and usually, for me, it's not good to have too much of it. But downtime with a purpose will be good.

Maybe a pilgrimage, which I've been invited to join. Maybe just some solitude to get my bearings, reaquaint myself with the Gods and my purpose in life.

It's still just a thought.

Relationship Note on Domonico

From the Journal of Brenlin, Aide-de-Camp to Lady Miranda Rubino, Commander of the Gryfalcon Infantry, Lady, Knight, Voice, and Sword of Gemecitta...

Well, this Duck Platter Thief blew it. I'm in the doghouse.

I let my overzealous concerns get the better of me and not only did I upset my Lady, a crime for which she may forgive me but I won't forgive myself, I upset Admiral Domonico Malvici.

Apologies were made... but still...

I'd better start learning to sleep with one eye open, if I sleep at all.

What was I thinking?!

Princess Zara and Princess Tikva were very fine hosts at the recent hunt. It has been so long since I've been able to go hunting in the woods and feel as if it were entirely a safe and pure thing, and that is what it felt. People were happy, enjoying themselves, the woods were what I felt they were when I first came to Arx again. Perhaps even better.

The coughing made me angry, mostly at myself. I tried to ignore it. I've heard it a lot, haven't I? But there's just something really sad about it this time. I thought about it for a long while afterwards. Maybe Nyce is right about the world. Everywhere I step is crap, but if I stop walking there's just too much time to mope.

I'm very familiar with the kinds of profit one can make spinning vaguely plausible but occultish-sounding nonsense for the credulous, but as a word of advice, from someone who has been there: pick your targets wisely.

To invite them indiscriminately can lead to unpleasantness, even if you're absolutely certain you're either harmless or correct.

I am blessed to have triumphed in the great hunt hosted by Princess Zara and Princess Tikva.
Their feast was wonderful and a great time. I haven't enjoyed myself so much in a while.
I am thankful to Petrichor for his bounty and Gloria for her guidance. And to those who kept me
company there. The time, stories and words they granted means more than the victory.
