Olivia stops briefly to eye the horses skeptically before making her way swiftly past them and to the seats. She offers a warm smile to each face she passes. Taking a seat, her eyes move to the line.. she cannot fathom why anyone would want to be atop one of those beasts for sport, but its interesting to watch nonetheless.

It has been a LONG TIME since Norwood got to escort Margerie to an Arx event. It shows how correctly he wants to do this reintroduction that he has polished his armor, and has a fresh hankerchief tucked in. He leads Steadfast on the other hand, with his arm through Margerie's. "and last time," continuing a conversation, "Duke Cristoph even stayed on his horse."

"Those are the spicy leaves! Spicy leaves for a spicy beast!" Tikva gives Kicky a light slap on the flank and smiles towards Alis. "We'll have to try it."

Deva stares at Alis like she has NO idea what the high lord is talking about, so she's just going to sit over there.

Aleksei Morgan may be known mostly as a Champion on his feet, but it's not the /first/ joust he's been seen at. And when he arrives on horseback, he does so with a straight back and a comfortable seat indicating a certain amount of ease and familiarity there. He offers a bright smile to a few in particular mingling about both with the competitors and spectators, most particularly Tikva, Deva, and Cristoph. "Wait, what's a /spicy/ leaf?"

Tesha arrives quietly and with her dogs at her sides. The Telmar is dressed in the crimson that she usually wears today, the hood of her cloak pulled up over her head to keep some of the chill at bay. She looks to be in a good move given the Joust is her favorite thing. She moves to where she can look over some of the horses and to see who is participating in todays festivities.

Ryhalt arrives with the slow, careful walk of someone who's either inform or aged. His face is closer to the color of snow than it ought to be, but he takes a seat in the spectator area when he reaches it. He sits with a certain stiffness, no riding and falling off horses for him today.

Keely gets a sweet seasilk favor of tender blossoms from scribe's leather satchel.

"I didn't know leaves could be spicy either!" Deva shrugs cluelessly at Aleksei. "Don't fall off!" she adds cheerfully, giving the champion two big thumbs up.

"I bet she'll like it." Alis replies, waving with exaggerated cheerfulness at Deva when she does to sit over there. Wherever there is. Her expression quickly slides back towards neutral though, attention given to her horse whom she leans against.

"LADY PATTERN YOU LOOK LOVELY" Ripley calls out from where he's taken up residence, fireweave covered hands cupped around his mouth as he bellows in Tyche's direction.

There were a few whinnies from Veronica's horse, Leoithne, before she goes to pat the horse's mane moving to give her a little scritch under her chin. Then the other hand comes up with an apple biscuit. "Not too many or were gonna have a bad time." Veronica would grin before putting the tack along the mare. Everything looked exceptionally immaculate and in good shape. Polished, most likely because she knew she was competing and wanted her mare and herself to look there best.

Blue eyes would drift to all those that arrived and the ones already finding themselves in the benches. She'd wave to Caspian, "Glad you could make it!" she grins.

Margerie Clement arrives absolutely dressed for the cold. The hood of her fur lined emerald cloak is flipped up over her head and her hands have matching gloves in the same green color. As she walks close to Norwood, she waggles her fingers in greeting to several familiar faces already present and then turns to address her husband, buffing a SPOT from his armor. "Well, this time, /you/ worry about staying in the saddle!" she teases him and then gives him a quick kiss. "Good luck, I'll be watching from over there!" Then off she goes to find a good seat to spectate and wave and CHEER.

The Laurent Estate is decked out for a nice early winter joust, because what else are you going to do with your copious amounts of free time? Productive things?! There's a station for tea, coffee, and hot chocolate and plenty of extra blankets being passed around for those that might still be even chillier than they expected! Cristoph is moving amongst the crowd, making with his greetings, fully armored up and preparing to compete. His horse is being brought to the field to compete, meaning he's likely in some of the earliest rounds. When Tyche approaches him, Cristoph smiles wide and approaches her. "My apologies, Marquessa Inverno. I'll schedule the next one for the summer."

Violeta Emili, a Ravashari smuggler dressed as the wind, 2 Rivenshari Clan Guardsman arrive, following Mattheu.

Mattheu has joined the a set of chairs and benches.

Still speaking softly with Artorius near the list, Keely retrieves a delicate pink ribbon of seasilk from her satchel, embroidered exquisitely with knotwork and blossoms. She lifts it a little, reaching to tie it onto his upper arm as deftly as her gloves will allow.

Ripley has joined the line.

3 First Legion Centurions, 3 Setarcan Royal Shields arrive, following Patrizio.

"That does seem an easier solution than casting the snow away in the winter," Tyche's lips curve as Cristoph joins her fully and speaks to the next event. She hears not her name being shouted, but the nickname from the jeweler, and her head tilts to laugh in his direction, "Thank you, Master Ripley. I hope you joust today, so I might cheer you on!" Her voice softens as she returns her attention to the Laurent, lips moving but the words only travel between herself and Cristoph. At one point, she extends her hand, inviting him to take it (or something from it?) as she speaks.

"Arugula, it's like a spicy ... plant," Tikva explains to Aleksei with a lot of accompanying mime work. She then moves to check the tack and reins on her hinny.

Amari is here, not far from where Prince Alantir is sitting as still and silent as the Sentinel. In contrast, she's got her helmet tucked under her arm as she busily gives her dapple grey gelding a final fancying up. Never mind that he couldn't look much better in his green and black caparison, over black painted barding, with his tail neatly braided. While checking straps, the baroness spares a few curious looks at the crowd gathering in the snow and waves to those she knows.

Amari has joined the line.

Veronica immediately recognizes her cousin, Amari. She gives her an excited wave, one hand still on her mares reigns.

"I always stay in the saddle." Norwood replies, an undercurrent of pride in his voice. "Steadfast wouldn't allow for anything else." Steadfast is handed off to a servant as they wade into the people. To Margerie, "Is there anyone you are dying to say hello to?"

Edris watches as the lineup forms with interest, relaxing a little more as he listens. "The Sword of Oakhaven," he replies quietly to Deva's words. "Though it's been quite some time since I've seen her ride. And who do you favor this evening, your highness?" he asks Deva, with a hint of playful curiousity to his tone.

"Do my best!" Aleksei calls back to Deva with a playful little salute. He seems no less edified on the nature of spicy leaves, despite several responses on the matter. "That doesn't sound right," he says with a furrowed brow to Tikva.

Mattheu has left the a set of chairs and benches.

Violeta Emili, a Ravashari smuggler dressed as the wind, 2 Rivenshari Clan Guardsman leave, following Mattheu.

Artorius reaches to squeeze Keely's arm and give her a kiss on the cheek after she ties the pink ribbon onto his upper arm. "Thank you, Princess Keely," his voice can be heard speaking, "for the honor of riding with your favor this day." He looks over toward the other riders and toward where a squire holds his mount, "I should get astride Trident, thank you for him as well." The coal black destrier stands rather peacefully among all the noise. "I'll see you after," he slips in a hug before he goes to gather his new ride.

Violeta Emili, a Ravashari smuggler dressed as the wind, 2 Rivenshari Clan Guardsman arrive, following Mattheu.

Mattheu has joined the a set of chairs and benches.

Caspian takes a long drink from the stands, and looks around, noticing Veronica looking toward him. he flashes a warm smile, "Well i could hardly miss it! alas, i have no skill on the horse. but i did feel obligated to do my part" he jumped up on the bench and looked around, "This crowd seems far to quiet..." he immediately burst out into a loud song.

"Together we gather, Our eye full of wonder

With gloom and darkness, looming just Yonder!

but today is no time to sit and be glum,

For the joust is now here, the time has now come!

So pass the drink around, and give a loud cheer!

For the Glory, for the honor, and that we're all here!!

So Drink up my friends! grab your seat, Find your friends!

For the Time is now here to see who ascends!

Will it be a brave knight, Armor polished and shining

Or a pauper or commoner, his destiny now defining!

I know not the future, not the outcome today,

But huzzah for the brave, and to all a HOORAY!!

So pass the drink around, and give a loud cheer!

For the Glory, for the honor, and that we're all here!!"

While Cristoph manages some conversation before the jousting begins, a man begins to go around shouting things. He's really the person in charge. The Shouting Man announces: "WILL ALL JOUSTERS GET DOWN TO REGISTRATION." This means, get on the +line, in meta terms.

Meanwhile, Cristoph is stepping closer to Tyche and accepting something from her hand, or at least he's about to. He leans in, "A favor?" And whatever passes between them then is quiet and private.

Jingling of bells precedes the brightly dressed Rivenshari, a small step missing from Mattheu's usual bounce.

Perhaps an homage to one of his cousins, Patrizio Pravus is distinctly /late/ to the joust, at least in the sense that he's perhaps been tarrying to avoid the snow as it and the Abyssal winter have come to find the city. Accompanied by his familiar sextet of soldiers, he's arriving just in time for Caspain's song, and a chuckle as he's shaking his head, joining the masses. And calling out to the good champion, "Messere, I fear that you've been far too influenced by the good Lord Savio, it seems, in your combat with him." And with /that/ pronounced, the prince moves to find himself somewhere to settle, to watch.

"Ooh, an excellent choice," Deva nods between Edris and Veronica with a delighted gleam in her eyes. "I will be rooting for Princess Tikva, but I will be almost as pleased if Champion Aleksei wins. -Almost.-" She gives her head a a dramatic little toss to shake the snow off. A hand lifts to welcome Patrizio to the benches.

Tikva shouts from nearby, "Yeah get your butts over here so I can knock you off your horse!"

Margerie fusses over Norwood's armor like she knows what she's doing. "Of /course/ you do, I was simply /teasing/ you." She beams a smile at him. "I'd love to see Amari and Veronica and Cristoph... but, I'll find them after the joust." Meanwhile, she waves at them if they happen to see her!

Caspian looked to Patrizio and flashed a warm smile and a gave a flourishing bow "I will take that as a fine compliment your highness!" he dropped back to the bench, a grin on his face as he watched the knights prepare

Patrizio has joined the a set of chairs and benches.

Keely returns Artorius' embrace snugly, her eyes pressing closed briefly before she withdraws and lifts fond, dark eyes to his face. "Remember to enjoy yourself above all," she murmurs softly, a warm smile curving her lips. "I am going to go tie Tikva up in my other favor, to spread the luck more evenly. See you after." She pops to her toes to press a gentle peck to his cheek before turning to dash in Tikva's direction. "Tikva!" she calls as well as her soft voice will allow "Tikva, will you wear my other favor for luck?"

Edris has joined the a set of chairs and benches.

"Ah well, I believe the others," looking to try to make eye contact with Amari or Veronica, "are both jousting. But perhaps..." Norwood pins a look on another person, "Marquess Tyche!" He calls out, and points Margerie in Tyche's direction as a person to meet.

"If a lance shatters and severs one of my arteries," Alantir says, tone muffled behind helm, "you are welcome to my sword and horse." These words, and darkened sense of humor, were likely directed toward Amari -- the rider nearest him. He cants his visor in the baroness' direction and offers a polite dip of his chin. "Good luck to you, my lady."

"Of course!" Tikva shoves Kicky's head out of the way, ducking under her to squeeze Keely's hand with a bright smile. "I'm gonna make an ass of myself, it'll be great, but in your honor, I'll try not to be /too/ silly."

Keely gets a playful seasilk favor of winking griffins from scribe's leather satchel.

Tyche takes Cristoph's hand for a moment, exchanging quiet words that speak to the favor he questioned. Whatever is exchanged, her attention is stolen by Norwood's familiar voice and she tears her eyes from Cristoph to smile wide at him. "Baron Norwood. Do you joust tonight? We get to see again how your teachings play out on the field."

Tesha gives a nod of greeting to those that she knows, her gaze goes to some of the horses and there is a soft smile as she sees a few of those that are jousting. She settles in, standing comfortably at the sides so that she can watch. What could possibly go wrong in these times?!

Patrizio dips his head to Deva when he notices the wave, though there's a beaming smile for Caspian and the inclination of his head to the man as well, as he's making himself as... well, as comfortable as a southern prince /can/ be in the cold. A brief nod for Cristoph, Tyche, and Norwood as well, before the cloak's pulled in more firmly about him. And then out comes his flask, because if he cannot be warm from without...

Veronica easily hops up on her mare, Leoithne, setting her feet inside the stirrups and pulling at the reigns to lead her horse towards and near the starting place that the other jousters have lined up. She gives a sharp whistle, and Thunderboy, her bloodhound comes running up on que. "Go see Auntie Em." Veronica would say pointing towards Margerie. The Keaton bloodhound wasted no time running in full towards Margerie as he finally skidded to a stop, wagging his tail and following her along while Veronica would joust.

She'd wave and then idly pat the mare's neck.

Artorius watches Keely go with some fond amusement before he returns to the registration area, the squire still holding onto his horse as he waits to see who enters the lists in what order. It puts him near Veronica, to which he looks over and up at her and wonders, "Are we supposed to be up on our horses now or?" He totally was distracted back there.

"I would be offended if you were not your entire, authentic self in my honor," Keely informs Tikva with an affectionate smile as she reaches to tie a Grayson green ribbon with winning griffins all over it onto the woman's upper arm. "And here... we... are. Perfect. Don't you look a vision?" She gives her fellow Grayson's hand a gentle squeeze and utters a soft, "Have fun, Tikva!" before she turns to bustle over to the benches. She lifts a little wave to Deva on her way to climb onto a bench somewhere between Mattheu and Patrizio with bright smiles for each.

Time to get down to registration. Off goes Ripley, happily ambling that way and checking out competitors and horses along the way as he goes.

Veronica says, "I've already registered and put my name on the list. Just waiting to be called out now." Veronica would say softly to Alantir."

"Always do," Tikva says with a bright wink. Then she turns to soothe Kicky over her neck, controlling the mulish beast's attempt to follow Keely right out of her stall. "Not our turn yet, dummy. Knock it off!"

Norwood will walk Margerie to Tyche before heading down, smiling to her. "I believe I have only taught a few of those who are putting themselves forward. This is my wife, Margerie," because Norwood wants them to be FRIENDS.

"I'll see them returned safely to your family, Your Highness." Amari replies quite seriously as tugs on the corner of one of the lame panels comprising the armor covering her horse's neck. "I'm not one to loot corpses." She makes it sound so beneath her, but there's a hint of a smile when she says it. Done with the grooming, she spies Norwood and Margerie, and lifts a hand to both. Veronica gets the same treatment, before she says, more to Alantir than not, "It's a good turn out."

The first pair of jousters are called to the line: "PRINCESS TIKVA GRAYSON VS LADY LUCIE LAURENT!" The Shouting Guy is very loud.

"I am very hungry!" Deva tells Keely openly, shrugging with palms upturned. "I think a warm dinner after this will be necessary. I should see what Inga made today..." And then she gestures her poor assistant over to go find out. "How are you?" she adds brightly, attention shifting to the field as the joust begins. "Goooo ladies!"

"Oop, it is our turn. Come on, girl." Tikva hauls herself up in an easy leap onto Kicky's saddle and urges the dappled grey mare forward. She swishes her favor on her arm and then waves to the crowd, playing herself up with way too much energy as they ride to the starting line.

Margerie is happy to puppy-sit during the joust and so she gives plenty of scritches to Thunderboy's ears just after he trots up to her. "Good boy! Say good luck to uncle Norwood before we go find a place to watch--" She grins and then waves to Veronica, indicating that she'll take care of the dog. She's then ushered toward Tyche soon after. "Marquessa, how /are/ you? Lovely to see you tonight!" A wave to Amari and then a quick kiss to Norwood before he takes his place. "Good luck, love you!" Now she needs to find a place to watch.

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Tikva is successful.
Lucie marginally fails.

"If you move quickly enough, I could formally gift them to you before I perish," the Oathlander retorts, bringing gauntlets to rest evenly near his stallion's reins. At her mentioning of the crowd, his attention is promptly directed toward the risers. "A good turn out, indeed," he repeats, helm then turning again in the direction of the neighboring lanes.

"As have I," Artorius notes to Veronica, sizing her up a bit, "Before you put my face in the dirt," he extends a competitive greeting, "I'm Count Artorius Magnotta. A lady of Keaton?" He is guesses from the signet rings and the pendant, and the dogs, his question silenced by the first name on the list, by the shouting guy, then back to Veronica, "If we don't match up in the joust, Lady Keaton, maybe later we could speak? Keaton's hounds have always been an interest."

Caspian hops down a few benches and plops down unceremoniously next to Mattheu, likely jingling a few of the man's bells as he did "hello again my lord! staying warm i hope?" he nodded to the lists, "So, who are you pulling for?"

"Oh, here, your highness," chirps Keely, bringing her trusty satchel into her lap and retrieving from it a pair of carefully-wrapped tiny muffins to offer over to Deva with a bright smile. When the first contestants are called, she looks up and gives a soft cheer. "Hooray Tikva and Lucie! Hooray horses!" She seems in high spirits.

"A pleasure, Baroness Margerie," Tyche's smile is warm for Margerie even as her cheeks are flushed pink from the cold. "Your husband is very intent on us becoming friends, so we cannot disappoint him, can we?" She looks back to Cristoph, a quickly spoken, "Good luck, Duke Laurent," before she's clearly won over by the newest introduction. "The Baron rides so well. It may have been the last where Lady Adalyn was victorious after his lessons?" She's trying to recall, because in her friendship with the Laurents, she's been to far too many jousts. She moves then to find a space to watch those riding, bundling up further in her cloak.

Lucie is amongst the first up, paired off with Tikva. It's a relatively quick ride, and while the Laurent gives a good CHARGE, she's evidently facing off against a really well-trained rider. Tikva is the faster one, and unseats her with a good strike. "AUGH," may be heard on the way off the large-ish steed.

Veronica chuckles at Thunderboy, he clearly seemed to distracted by Aunt Margerie's love and scritches to care about Veronica anymore. She gives a way back and then looks to Artorius. An eyebrow is raised and she grins, "Perhaps, who knows maybe you'll get lucky and be the winner if we do." there was a tone of modesty in her voice and sly smirk, that led on to the woman jesting. "Aye, Lady Veronica Keaton. Sword of Oakhaven and Inquisitor." she gives a light nod, "Of course, I'd be happy to talk about our dogs. There loyal, well." her blue eyed gaze looking back to Thunderboy, "He's a pup, so still learning." a chuckle there.

Clamping tight to Kicky, Tikva hoists her lance, hunkers low to the beast's center of gravity and charges to the tilt. The surge of hooves and lance comes with the impact that drives into her opponent and sends her skewed off the saddle. Her "WHOO!" is not the most sportsmanlike noise she has ever made.

Olivia is doing what she can to keep warm while offering smiles to those that are still walking around and taking seats nearby. She spots the smile from Keely and flashes a bright one back at her before her gaze moves back to the massive maned beasts.

Tesha is without favors today and well...she didn't think she needed to pass out any. Maybe she'd start carrying them again. She does catch sight of familiar armor though and there is a moment she gives a look over the rest of the field and then back to where Alantir is seated on his horse, "Good luck in your match, Prince Alantir." the woman states with a dip of her head.

The joust starts and Ripley's attention goes to Tikva and the Lucie, studying the pair. When Tikva comes out the clear winner, Ripley's clapping though it seems that the clap is for both the rider still on their horse and the unseated Lucie.

Ryhalt claps for Tikva as she wins her pass.

Tikva and Lucie square off on the field, their lances raised and then pointed. With Tikva landing a solid blow on Lucie, the Shouting Guy calls the first joust: "PRINCESS TIKVA MOVES TO THE NEXT ROUND! UP NEXT IS LADY VERONICA KEATON VS DUKE CRISTOPH LAURENT!"

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Veronica is successful.
Cristoph is marginally successful.

Veronica marginally fails.

Artorius shrugs his shoulders and dusts off some snow from the coat he has on, "Baron Norwood did give me some lessons, although the lectures made me feel but a boy again. He's a hard task master that one." He wanders over toward the squire holding his mount, climbing up onto the destrier, "My old boy Ezekiel is getting up in age, my shepherd. I've been thinking of acquiring another canine to keep him company." He watches the pup of a dog, leaning forward to get some of the saddle and reins adjusted, rolling his shoulders as he looks toward the jousting arena, "Best of luck Lady Keaton."

Keely cheers delightedly as Tikva is declared the winner of her round, and then even more when Cristoph's name is called. "Hooray Honeycomb!" she cheers... for his horse, before returning to her conversations at the benches.

Having left his wife with Tyche Norwood heads towards to the place where the people are. There is much reserved cheering - until Cristoph and Veronica face off. Then he closes his eyes. Not watching!

"I'm afraid once my husband gets an notion in his head, it /stays/ so from this moment forward we are friends, Marquessa Tyche." Margerie says with a grin. "If I am not mistaken, he has trained atleast a handful of the competitors in line--" A nod follows after she thinks about Adalyn in a previous joust. "While I was away at Duskshire, he wrote to me of our Adalyn's success, so I do believe you're right!" When the next round commences, though, her attention turns toward Cristoph and Veronica as they collide. "Oh...!"

Patrizio cheers aloud as well, that grin on his features when there's the thundering of hooves and the clash there before them all, though it might be well missed for how quickly his flask finds his lips once more. Indeed, the Pravusi prince is clearly not yet warm enough.

Tikva urges Kicky back to the lists to prepare for the next round, clicking and cooing over her as the hinny stamps and shakes her mane.

Tikva is overheard praising Lucie: Well ridden, just bad luck!

Alantir returns Tesha's greeting with a simple raising and waving of his right gauntlet, followed be an equally polite bow of armet. He flinches when the first and second pairs of riders connect on the field, the sounds of wood splintering and bodies crashing against the earth distinct enough to trigger visceral memories of past tournaments.

"You have an admirer in attendance. You can't die now, it would be terribly embarrassing." Amari says up to Alantir while giving a nod and friendly wave to Tesha. With that, she mounts to watch the first rounds, Tikva and Lucie, then Veronica and Cristoph. All the while she rolls her left shoulder slowly as if working out a bad kink. "If I die, feel free to heap appropriate scorn. I should really be at home resting."

Caspian gives a cheer as Veronica takes the field, "KNOCK EM DOWN LADY VERONICA!" he looks back to Mattheu, "layers and i hope something warming to drink" he smiles, "nothing like a hot drink on a cold day mm?"

Veronica started at the line, a soft sigh when pitted against her liege. Better to lose to him. Her horse reared up on it's hind legs before taking charge as the joust starts. Her lance is lined up steadily, a firm grip on it. Unfortunately, she was a bit rusty. It had been a bit since she'd last jousted. Duke Cristoph's lance landed on her armor with a large THWACK against metal and knocked her off her mare. She gets up quickly and catches her breath, clearly having the wind knocked out of her. Hands on her knees, a single hand raises, "I'm good."

Alis watches the proceedings from her spot in the lineup, clapping for those who remain seated at each pass. And, wincing in sympathy for those who are either crunched or unseated entirely. "Ouch."

A shower of bells erupts from the seats as Mattheu moves about and bows while still sitting, looking to Caspian with a curl of his lip, "Warmth of drink and sought after warmths within a yurt are two wildly different aspects. Though I have found a good whiskey can settle one."

Lucie has taken to the stands to observe the next match. She makes a bit of a grunt of disappointment as she creaks down in her armor, but it's mostly good-humored as she settles in to watch. She recovers enough to roar her approval as Cristoph succeeds and clap generally for both competitors. "GOOD FIGHT!" she booms. Maybe she's better today at this loud cheering thing??

Tesha gives a smile at the returned greeting from Alantir before she gives a wave to Amari, "Good luck, Baroness!" she calls to her with a warm smile. She then makes her way to find a seat off to the sides where she won't end up with a random splinter from a shattered lance should it happen.

"I may ask him to teach me to ride someday," Tyche muses, and then quickly adds, "Not to joust, no. But just to be able to keep up with the Duke on horseback." And speaking of the man, he is up, so all of her attention is on the field. Her lips part, and she goes so far as to lean forward in case the small bit of distance difference will help her see it all more clearly.

Lucie is overheard praising Tikva: Did anyone see that /blur/ that came at me, by the way??

Keely appears to be watching only the beginnings and very endings of the bouts, looking away before anyone gets hit or knocked down and then cheering for the victor. "Hooo," she calls in a soft, vague sound of congratulations for Cristoph, a bright smile on her young face.

Veronica and Cristoph meet on the field. For this one particular exchange, Honeycomb does not mutiny and throw his rider onto the ground. To the relief of all. "Well ridden, Lady Veronica!" Cristoph calls to her.

The announcer cups his hands to his mouth and calls out: "DUKE LAURENT ADVANCES. NEXT MATCH IS COUNT ARTORIUS MAGNOTTA VERSUS MASTER RIPLEY THORNBURN!"

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Critical Success! Ripley is spectacularly successful.
Artorius is successful.

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Ripley is successful.
Artorius marginally fails.

Ryhalt chuckles as Cristoph doesn't fall off and break his arm this time. Whew?! He claps for Cristoph's win.

Keely looks about to say something to Patrizio and Mattheu with suddenly very rosy cheeks, but the next bout is announced and suddenly she is paying very close attention, shifting a bit to the edge of the bench and gripping it lightly with her fingers.

Tikva cheers amiably for Cristoph and then makes a gesture slapping lightly at the pommel of her saddle and then pointing at him. Like, she's coming for him, except it's very possible that she's not because they might not even be in the same match. It's very silly.

Count Artorius nudges the coal black destrier forward, the pairing a new one as it's easy to read on the flicking ears of the black mount. Helm down, jousting lance tucked up into the bracket on his armor, the Magnotta gives the animal a swift heel and the animal does wheel upward for a span of a moment before thundering down the arena, lances shattering as initially both score with Ripley's aim being nearly enough to unseat the Count in the first pass. The man lobs down the remains of the shattered lance and picks up another from the squires, heeling again and this time with more speed than necessarily allowed him to aim. He's off the saddle in a quick strike, but no dangerously so, more of a slow lean with a failing whirling grab for the reins before boop, he's thudding quite as he promised into the dirt. He picks himself up quickly to suggest no serious injury, dusting himself off.

Margerie is relieved when Veronica gets up and then glances down at her niece's puppy at her feet. To Tyche, she nods and agrees about the riding lessons. "He is an excellent instructor and has much patience--" She speaks from experience having had a few lessons via horseback as well! When the next round begins she watches Artorius and Ripley compete, and then looks over where Norwood is still in line.

Oh! Ripley's jumping up when he hears his name called out, tearing his gaze away from the successful joust of Cristoph, a sympathy wince for Veronica and soon enough the man's on the horse that he brought from the Thornburns own stables. This mismatched armor young man with the mop of red hair that's quickly squished under a helmet. There's a wave to Artorius and then he clambers onto the horse, at least two tries and then holding the lance -just- so. "FOR TOAD!" The jeweler yells out, spurring the horse on and looking like he might be barely hanging on by his knee's, ankles and thighs. Beginners luck maybe, possibly, sheer determination? Sunlight glinting off the shiny chestpiece or the flapping tails of the steelsilk nightdress that have worked loose in the back. Who knows, but he closes his eyes and cringes at the first pass that leaves both on their horses and Ripley a little breathless. It's the second pass as he hunkers down and holds tight and cracks his eyes open a crack even as there's the crack and Ripley pulls his horse up short to nearly turn around in his seat as he's still on his and Artorius is down. Up goes a fist even as down goes a lance. "FOR MY CAPRICE!"

Veronica is along the fields for now, having led her mare to the stables to rest after her turn. She looks to Duke Cristoph, "Good joust Duke Cristoph." Veronica would call out before wincing at Ripley's and Artorius' collision. That's gonna hurt. "Good ride Count Artorius," Her gaze shifted to the crowd finding Margerie. "Hello Aunt Em." she smiles. Thunderboy finally joining back on her heels again. The blonde bends down and rubs at his head roughly, "Were you a good boy for Auntie?"

When Cristoph is victorious, Tyche emits a small cheer, catching his eye when he removes his helmet to give a little encouraging nod. She tilts her head to Margerie briefly when she speaks of her husband, pointing out, "He'll need much patience with me as his student." And then Ripley is up! She turns her attention back to the field, not nearly as rapt as she was when the Laurent took to it, but interested in these results all the same!

"MASTER RIPLEY THORNBURN ADVANCES," the Shouting Guy calls out. The crowd is at first a little confused by the first call out, but soon kids and other people are also shouting 'FOR TOAD!'. Once they clear the field, "MASTER ALEKSEI MORGAN VS PRINCE ALANTIR VALARDIN!"

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Aleksei is marginally successful.
Alantir marginally fails.

Amari applauds Cristoph and Veronica, but watches the latter with concern until she proves ambulatory and able to lead her horse away. "Very nearly, cousin." She calls over encouragingly, but there's yet more jousting to observe as she waits for her name to be called. There's another round of clacky gauntleted applause for Ripley and Artorius, then a solemn nod for Alantir when it's his turn. "Good luck."

Mild horror is on Keely's features as she forces herself to watch this round and witnesses the strike to Artorius. She swiftly covers her face with both hands just as he begins to slide out of the saddle, making a soft sound of distress that muffles against them. It is a while before she allows them to come away again, after which she looks around for where he might have got to.

Tesha watches the matches that are going and she seems to be watching intently to see who is scoring the best. She enjoyed the joust, even if she couldn't handle a lance. When there is the announcement that Aleksei and Alantir are matches up she sits up in her seat a bit straighter to watch the two of them.

Artorius rolls his one arm back and forth, nodding toward Veronica, "You as well, Lady Keaton." He frowns a little then removes the ribbon off his arm, making his way toward the benches since he's out. He lets one of the squires deal with the horse as he makes his way, "Where's the whiskey...!" He gestures to Mattheu, "What have you there? Lend me a sip!" He looks to try to spot where Keely was in the crowd, looking back over toward the arena.

Artorius has joined the a set of chairs and benches.

In hearing a familiar voice yell to him, Mattheu lookis to Artorius with a soft grin holding the brightly colored bottle up in the air and heading over towards the count.

"I could always scold you for signing up to joust with an unhealed injury," the prince muses, now concerned that Amari was concealing a wound from both her competitors and the crowd of spectators. "But I doubt you would listen, even if my speculations were founded." He returns his gauntlets to rest atop the lusitano's saddle. "Rest assured, Baroness Redire, that I would keep those opinions to myself -- regardless of scorn," the Oathlander continues, muttering his thanks before marching the horse out into the appropriate lane. Aleksei, opposite, is offered a wave and dip of helm in greeting. When flags are waved, his stallion charges forward. Unfortunately, Alantir miscalculates his aim, is struck in turn, and is violently dismounted. Though it takes him a moment to recover, he stands, gives Aleksei a formal bow, and exits the field in the direction of the risers.

"He was such a good boy." Margerie says to Veronica with a grin. "And that was an /excellent/ round, my sweet! I'm so very proud of you. Will you stay with Marquessa Tyche and I while we watch the next rounds? I'm waiting for your uncle Norwood's turn and Baroness Amari's--" There are so many people to cheer for! Then to Tyche, "The Duke is advancing, too, how exciting! I need to invite myself over to see him more often." A side note to self, that.

"Huh?" So distracted has Aleksei become, that he almost misses the call of his name to compete. He brightens then, nudging at his horse's flank with his boot to stir him forward. "Your highness," he greets Alantir cheerfully. He looks out at the crowd, offering up the sort of boyishly charming -- just shy of rakish -- smile that likely punctuates a good deal of his Champion duels. And then he clicks his tongue to his horse and spurs him down the lane to one end.

In all honesty, it's probably luck that wins out more than anything else. He goes thundering down the lane and ends up swaying just a /touch/ in his saddle to avoid losing his seat as well. His breath comes in a bright gasp of relief when he comes through unscathed, and he actually circles back around to make sure Alantir doesn't need a hand up. "Good ride, your highness," he tells him earnestly before leading his horse back to wait for his next ride.

Ryhalt claps for Ripley and Aleksei as they win they respective jousts.

As a Champion rides against a Prince of House Valardin, there's a great deal of cheering for both side and ultimately even more when the ride is decided. "MASTER ALEKSEI MORGAN ADVANCES. WILL HIGH LORD ALIS VALARDIN AND BARON NORWOOD CLEMENT COME TO THE FIELD." The crowd is full of restless energy at the idea of the High Lord going up against the accomplished rider of House Clement.

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Norwood is successful.
Botch! Alis fails badly.

Veronica looks to Amari, "Thanks cousin. I'm sure your far ahead of me and my skill. You'll do great." she then looks to Margerie and Tyche. "Aye, of course I will." she says softly, "I hope your both faring well especially with the snow 'bout." she says before her Uncle Norwood's name was called. "Well I'm betting on Uncle." there was a devious grin, "He's far too skilled to even compete. /IF/ anything he'll break someone's arm."

The matches seem to be sweeping by more quickly than Tyche's distracted attention can take, because she keeps letting her gaze drift. But she sees Aleksei's win, and claps for the victory, and then turns to find Alis and Norwood up next. A gasp escapes her, and then a laugh at the dilemma. "I do not know who to cheer on," she admits to the woman now next to her, turning to introduce herself more formally. "A pleasure to meet you, Lady Veronica. You road well."

Tesha gives a wince when Alantir gets unseated from his horse and lands on the ground. That had to hurt. The redhead gives a look back to the field when the next names are called, but she gets distracted with something. She then rises to head towards where the Valardin Prince was heading, "Your highness are you alright?" she asks him.

Has she really been focused since arriving? No, not really. But when her name is called, Alis rides out onto the field atop her steed, looking her very stately short self with lance at the ready! She expects no quarter from the Baron of course - otherwise, it would be an insult! So she gives her competitor a fierce nod and once the signal is given charges ahead! Charge, charge... *CRUNCH!* Wait, what did she hit? Did she even get Norwood's shield? What just happened? Why is she flyiiiiiiiing *CRUNCH* That second one was her arm. But instead of screaming in pain after that loud snap, she just passes right out. What is Norwood going to do!?

Confessor Imori have been dismissed.

5 Armed Confessors have been dismissed.

Kicky, a dappled hinny have been dismissed.

Confessor Warren have been dismissed.

"Did you just kill her....?" Ripley's looking on in horror when Alis goes down with an unhealthy crunch.

Norwood is riding to IMPRESS today, because his wife is out there in the audience. So he checks everything twice, and breathes deeply before setting his lance and narrowing in on Alis. Too narrowed. Too focused. WHATWHATWHAT?! He snaps out of his focus the second she screams. Steadfast goes from a gallop to a walk and then Norwood is OFF HIS BACK and running for Alis. "Alis? ALIS." Norwood forgets her title in the moment of panic. "WE NEED A HEALER."

It's fair to say that the stands erupts when a High Lord is thrown from her horse. It seems like the physicians on call are running out onto the field before Alis has even hit the ground. When she does, she's rushed by people who are quick to get her out of the way of stomping horses feet and to a clear spot where she can be tended to.

When Alis is thrown from her horse, Tyche is at her feet, rushing forward the distance to any barrier that divides the spectators from the riders.

Keely offers a little grin to Mattheu, murmuring, "I do like cookies..." But then chaos as Alis is flung through the air, drawing her attention and bringing her to her feet. "Oh my," she breathes out, watching the scene unfold.

Norwood white from his workman's tan can only hover as Alis is carted away. He looks a little bit like he just kicked a puppy on accident and is VERY VERY SORRY.

Ryhalt grimaces in sympathy as he witnesses Alis' nasty fall. To applaud Norwood for that or not, decisions. Poor guy is probably beating himself as it is. He scratches at his sidewhisker, uncomfortable.

Patrizio purses his lips, leaning forward slightly with a distinct look of something on his features that's unfamiliar to most - concern.

Veronica says, "Umm. Perhaps I spoke /too/ soon." she says, eyes going wide as her Uncle knocks Alis off her horse and sends her flying. Her gaze drifts from that whole debacle and looks to Margerie, "Perhaps he needs to be banned completely from jousting. Clearly he needs to find other avenues for his focus, perhaps hobbies." she nods, agreeing with herself and then looks to Tyche, "A pleasure to meet you Marquessa Tyche. And thank you, I... do /not/ take after my Uncle Norwood. So that's a good thing." she jests."

Amari is so polite that she doesn't heap even a smidge of scorn on Alantir when he's knocked out of the competition, nor does she confirm or deny his suspicions. She does lift a hand to him as he strides off the field and with a small, pensive frown growing, she uses that same hand to humble wave Veronica's prediction aside. "Nothing's ever certain at these tournaments." And as if to prove her point, Norwood and Alis meet, and the High Lady of Valardin is badly dismounted. The frown of hers becomes a wince that lingers.

Margerie's attention is immediately drawn to the next round when Alis and Norwood are up next. Her pulse quickens and she holds her breath as their mounts race toward one another and then... there's the crash. She lets out a sharp breath at the sight of impact and lifts gloved fingertips to her mouth in a bit of shock when Alis is knocked from the saddle. "Oh!" she gasps and can practically hear that snap of bone from where she stands. Norwood /running/ toward the High Lord has her heart racing even more and she joins Tyche at the nearest barrier to see.

Olivia widens her eyes and lets out a small gasp as she watches Alis fly off her horse. She jumps up and rushes passed the seats to offer help if possible. "I'm a healer! I can try to help!"

For the record, Alis does not believe she can fly. The few seconds that she's out are broken by the gasp of air she takes upon waking and then the unfortunate whimper that she cuts off when she feels her arm. With the healers swarming around her, all she can do is look dazed. "I didn't even stick the landing." is groused, struggling to sit up and bat at the hands of whoever is trying to help her up despite the pronounced sway of her movements. "Oh shit, is Norwood okay!? I don't.." She doesn't even remember what happened. Maybe for the best, given how humiliating an unseating like that could be.

"I am. I think," Alantir mutters, glancing downward to survey his platemail. Dirt, but no blood. And then the tournament's spectators leap to their feet in a horrified frenzy. He glances over his shoulder to witness Alis dismounted and motionless atop the earth. The Oathlander immediately begins to jog across the field in her direction, trailing several seconds behind the physicians and those who had moved to lift her unconscious frame from the snow. He follows them, maintaining a respectful distance, trusting in their expertise and prepared to assist if called upon directly.

HE IS RIGHT HERE ALIS. Reaching a hand out and kneeling down beside her. "I am fine, I appologize - profusely. It was not my intention to injure you."

The announcer is a little more somber when he announces: "BARON NORWOOD ADVANCES." And then a second later he calls out, "BARONESS AMARI REDIRE VERSUS MASTER CASPIAN WILD-- did he sign himself up? Did someone sign him up?" There's a little confusion and the man reiterates, "MASTER CASPIAN WILD."

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Caspian is successful.
Amari marginally fails.

Tesha gives a nod to Alantir, "I just wanted to check your Highness." she tells him. Then her attention is drawn to Alis and Norwood and she winces again, "Oh Gods." she whispers. She watches Alantir head that way, but she stays where she is, not wanting to get in the way of the physicians and others.

Oh, OH! There he is. "Ow, f... ugh. Fudge. That's right, I was going to say fudge." Alis arm is being splinted, hence the sudden need to swear as the bone is snapped back into place. "I know, I know. Of course you didn't mean to. I wasn't prepared. It was my fault." she assures him, shoving her good arm towards him so he can help her up the rest of the way. See? She trusts you! Alantir's appearance nearby earns him a faint smile and nod of thanks. "I'm good, I'm fine. Just need some nice painkiller. Go have fun." is encouraged. "One of you just help me into the stands? I'll sit with Marquessa Inverno."

Caspian looks as the two collide, the smile freezing on his face as the woman flew off off the horse, hit the ground hard and didn't move. He bounded down the benches to the edge of the grounds, scooting over the barrier to move to help. Fortunately many other hands, especially those trained, were already moving toward the downed woman. At the cry from Olivia, he spins and smiles, "I think they have her well in hand.. but what a hit.." Then the sound of his name hits his ears. Wait.. had he signed up? he must have.. but when? oh gods.. that night.. that drunken night. he glanced at his lighjtly armored self and swallowed. he looked to olivia, "Um.. keep those bandages close for me please.." he rushed to lists, struggling up ontop of the horse. he clung to it, more for deer life then with any skill and grabbed the lance. "the uh.. pointy end goes into the other person right" he looked at the shield, then at Amari, then at the shield, "maybe give me a bigger shield?" he swallowed and readied himself, trying not to think of what had just occured. Then they were off, hurtling toward eachother. Well, there was no going back now, so he grit his teeth forced a smile. and with a stroke of luck that would make any gambler envious, managed to HIT the opponents shield!!

Alis is alive, and Tyche's relief is instantaneous. She exhales, stepping back from the railing, a small laugh shared with Margerie at how quickly they both surged forward. "Maybe riding isn't all it is cut out to be?" she remarks. Veronica had said something to her before she flew forward, and now she must apologize, "Sorry, Lady Veronica. These events are never dull."

Amari looks a little stiffer than usual, and she doesn't quite stick the timing, nor score a particularly great hit on Caspian. Tis but a scratch, for real. The side of her lance baps his shoulder harmlessly while she finds herself on the receiving end of a hit that cracks against her shield. That's enough jousting for one day. She dips her head to Caspian as she turns her horse about, and with shield arm limp, she rides off the field.

Once it becomes apparent that there isn't /actually/ a death on the field, Tikva has relaxed significantly. She cheers and claps in relief and then downs a long swallow of water from her canteen.

Norwood is white as Alis reassures him and then a walks away. Is he allowed to insist she leaves after being the person to crunch her u? No? Well, ah, he'll just go... stand beside Cristoph.

Veronica says, "No apologies needed Marquessa Tyche. And they really aren't. I've been practicing since I was smaller and even now it's every bit of scary as it was when I was younger." Veronica says with a nod and sigh of relief to see Alis up.. well talking at least. "When your horse rears, your either ready or your not, and hope for the best. Just gotta hold the lance steady." she chuckles that, rubbing at her breastplate where Cristoph's lance definitely left a bruise on impact."

Olivia is thankful that several others were already rushing and assisting with Alis' injuries. She stood near the seats looking over everything to make sure to be ready if more help was needed. Glancing over to Caspian as he spoke, she smiled softly at him and tried to reassure him... though in her opinion, he was slightly out of his mind for /willingly/ riding a horse with another's weapon pointed at him for -fun-... "Im sure you will do just fine." and luckily, she was right. Thankfully the other rider got out of it without injury as well.

There are whispers and cheers of well entertained guests when another Champion advances in the ranks. There are talks of hiring such people for duels in the future! It's been a long time since a duel was fought via jousting the people are intrigued. "MASTER CASPIAN WILD ADVANCES. NEXT: PRINCESS TIKVA GRAYSON VS DUKE CRISTOPH LAURENT." Cristoph murmurs to Norwood, "You're safe for one more round at the very least."

No death indeed. Ripley looks relieved and sits back down as he waits his turn again, watching the High lord eased off the field with no small amount of concern.

"I will assist you, your grace," the Oathlander prince tells the high lord, offering to help her to her feet and escort her to the risers. "For whatever it's worth, saying what you'd intended wouldn't have dulled the pain," Alantir mutters, these words likely intended to be private. Which he did suspect her to be feeling, regardless of the treatment received.

"I'm going to see about finding a flask..." Margerie says as her gloved fingertips touch her clavicle in relief. She gives Tyche's arm a gentle squeeze to let her know she'll be right back, then goes to find her Clement assistant across the way. As she does, she glances at Norwood and hurries along.

Norwood starts to go white because he's holding his breath as Cristoph sets off against Tikva. Someone should smack him to remind him to breathe.

Patrizio lets a sigh free to Margerie. "And this is why I carry one," he says aloud, even as he's shaking his head. "Because you never know when you're going to need a good pull from one."

2 Clement trained guards, Pearl, a trusted Clement assistant leave, following Margerie.

Tikva gives Cristoph a brazen grin at their first tilt, and charges. They both impact against each other in a rain of splinters and she whoops like a maniac. The next tilt, they both acquit themselves well again, Tikva riding hard into Kicky's charge. And then the third, and this time, she manages to throw her weight into the force of her lance and skew his otherwise very fine seat. She teeters a little and then swings her lance up in the air, throwing up her arm in a clatter of armor as she whoops. Then she circles the prancing, obnoxious hinny back so she can check on her fallen friend, because after Alis and Norwood's little adventure, it's easy to remember how dangerous this is. Her eyes are overbright with intensity. "I told you I was coming for your seat, my lord! Are you okay?"

"No, it wouldn't have. You're quite right, Alantir." Alis looks like she's about to say more, but instead just gives her cousin a grateful nod and allows herself to be led towards that seating. "Some whiskey on the other hand? That will definitely dull the pain. I'm cracking open a really good bottle later." is murmured as she's settles in, and then turns towards Tyche. "I swear I wasn't planning on being the tournament's entertainment."

Tesha looks around and there's a particular look given to Norwood as he goes to stand by Cristoph before the Duke gets called to the field. She heads his way and offers a smile, "Baron Norwood." she greets him. "Taking a deep breath after an experience like that has always helped me. I'm not sure if it does others." she tells him quietly with a bit of a smile.

It's a very nice joust that Tikva and Cristoph engage in, one with several passes before the Duke is unhorsed and lands on his back on the field. When she passes him again to check his status, he's laughing. "And you were serious! Nicely rode!" he calls out to her and struggles up to his feet again. He appears to be all in one piece and not hurt at all.

The crowd cheers, satisfied with a winning Graysin princess and a Duke that isn't broken into twenty pieces. "PRINCESS TIKVA ADVANCES. NEXT: MASTER ALEKSEI MORGAN VERSUS MASTER RIPLEY THORNBURN!"

"There was nothing entertaining in that," Tyche calls to Alis, but there is a wealth of fondness to her words, and a touch of fingers to her heart. Cristoph is riding again, however, and her attention must shift to watch him take the field a second time. This bout is so evenly matched, that when he does fall, she cannot even be that upset. And his fall isn't nearly as rough as his High Lord's, soooo. She claps, craning to see him stand.

Ryhalt eases as Alis returns to watch. He applauds Capsian and Tikva as they win their rounds. He chuckles at the banter between Tikva and Cristoph.

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Critical Success! Aleksei is spectacularly successful.
Ripley fails.

Breathe - right. Breathe. Norwood takes Tyche's advice and goes in. Oh and thank goodness - Cristoph is out. Well, not goodness. "I'm glad he isn't hurt - I refuse to joust against another one of my Lord's tonight." That is to Tyche.

Keely is in the process of rising from the stands with Artorius, murmuring quiet farewells as they go. She pauses by Tyche, leaning down to murmur with a smile before continuing on. A glance toward the list area also sees her hand rising to wave to Tikva, a quick and excited smile to see she is still in the running.

Caspian makes his way to the edge of the seats as the next riders face off. the Man still seems very shock that he isnt laying face down in the snow after the first pass. he looks around and then takes a long drink from his flask, giving a slight shudder as the cold nips at him.

Tikva gives Cristoph two big thumbs up, pleased and relieved at how well he holds up. "It has been known to happen," she says of her seriousness, although reasonable persons could disagree. She turns Kicky back to await the next round, sliding from her saddle to check the girth and make sure the saucy mare is ready to go again. She even gives her a honey-drizzled cookie. Bribery! She straightens Keely's favor on her arm and gives her another thumbs-up. Only one, though, Cristoph got two because she put him on the ground.

Mattheu stands up in an awkward state of near silence and steps away from the chairs as Artorius says something quietly to him

Edris has left the a set of chairs and benches.

Deva has left the a set of chairs and benches.

Deva leaves, following Edris.

An Unremarkable Associate arrives, delivering a message to Patrizio before departing.

Alis can't really clap, but she can watch! And so she does, but without standing up because no thank you. "I feel pretty lucky that I had no idea how fast the ground was coming at me. I was just flying..." Whoops, too close to Norwood. "Honestly, Norwood. It's /fine/." Maybe that's why she remained in the stands, to reassure everyone that it isn't that bad, really! Mostly.

Olivia smiles as Caspian heads for the seats "Im glad you made it and didnt end up in need of a healer, you seemed to do very well for someone who looked to have no idea what they were doing out there."

Keely has left the a set of chairs and benches.

Artorius has left the a set of chairs and benches.

Veronica says, "Good joust." Veronica calls out to Caspian. She gives Thunderboy another good rough pat on his head. The pup's tail thumped along the snow, and let out a deep bark towards the man. "Seems Thunderboy wishes you a good ride as well." a chuckle under her breath."

An Unremarkable Associate arrives, delivering a message to Patrizio before departing.

He's up. Ripley's bounding off from where he was seated and with immense energy, ready for another round! There's no 'for toad' this time, or Caprice. Just the jeweler intent on getting onto his horse and giving it another go. And there's a go, then another round, another round... Despite that the man seems to tuck his head down, tails of the steelsilk flapping in the breeze behind him and that horse he's on, the jeweler remains seated, and seated, seated, on and on. A handful of rounds until finally there's a clashing and the jewler for once doesn't end up in his seat but unceremoniously on the ground and gasping like a fish, blinking up at the winter sky.

Caspian turned to Olivia and flashed a wide smile, "i only LOOKED like i had no idea what i was doing? Well thats actually quite remarkable! Considering i HAVE no idea what im doing out there, i consider it a compliment!" he flashes a broad grin and looks to Veronica. "Thank you! if i can make iut across the field without falling off the horse i consider it a good ride!"

Tesha gives a dip of her head to Norwood, "Completely understandable, Baron." she tells him. She then moves to retake her seat and watch the rest of the match ups with a bit more of an intent look given all the falls so far this evening.

A breath, as there's a flurry of messengers who do indeed find him, though a smile finds Patrizio's lips at the latest one to find his hand, and he's slowly rising from his place, a gesture that draws his soldiers at some distance to do the same. "If you'll all excuse me," voices he. "Apparently, more pressing matters await me abroad."

And he's back! Aleksei's stallion trots forward to the end of the lane, the rider raking a restless hand through his hair even as he slants a crooked smile back over to the stands. It's a hard few passes that follow: once, twice, three times, he and Ripley both reach the other end of their lane without either of them being unseated, and with the both of them quite evenly matched in their efforts. By the third pass, Aleksei's grin has widened, flashing a touch more wolfishly with the rising challenge of the match. And then the next pass, everything simply seems to go -- perfectly. His balance in the saddle is just right, his lance is in the precisely perfect angle, and he reaches the other end with a triumphant laugh as he feels the rush of athletic performance. He's circling back on his horse soon enough, drawing up alongside Ripley and leaning over to offer the man a hand up, should he wish it. "Well-ridden!" he declares.

Patrizio has left the a set of chairs and benches.

3 First Legion Centurions, 3 Setarcan Royal Shields leave, following Patrizio.

With Alis situated, Alantir steps aside to grant the high lord and marquessa their privacy. Given the Oathlander's crippling sense of duty and general concern for the princess' well-being, the knight straightens his back, rests one gauntlet against the hilt of sheathed longsword, and opts to spend what would likely be the remainder of his evening as an attentive sentinel on the woman's behalf. It's a fitting look, certainly -- all of that ornate platemail and unflinching rigidity contributing significantly to an aura of learned, dispassionate austerity.

"First time!" Ripley gasps, taking the hank up and popping up with a bit of a wobble. "Don't really ride horses... fuck me this is hard.." But he seems okay. Little bruised. "Toad had my back" Literally. The dog's embossed on the back of his chestplate. "I hope you win!" He offers to Aleksei before wobbling off to go lick his bruises and wince on a bench somewhere.

Removing himself from the field, someone takes Cristoph's horse from him. He departs and moves to the stands, finding a particular Marquessa to sit next to comfortably, his helmet set somewhere on the ground near his feet. He leans in closely to her to whisper something. Ripley and Aleksei's match concludes just as he's getting comfortable and he finds time to clap loudly for the pair of them.

"FOR TOAD," the people in the stands cheer as Ripley remains on his horse for quite a while there. The crowds are pretty excited for him, even if he loses to Aleksei in the end. And of course, they're very enthused as the Champion moves forward again. "MASTER MORGAN ADVANCES! BARON NORWOOD CLEMENT VERSUS MASTER CASPIAN WILD!"

Botch! Caspian fails completely.

Caspian looks at Norwood across the field and runs his tongue against his lips. No way the man would down two people in on day. thats like being struck by lightning. he would be fine!! a bit more confident, he clambered up onto the horse with the help of the nearest page, grabbing the shield and his lance. he settled himself, nodded and prepared. then the ground rumbled as the horse charged. Was it always so bumpy?! Jarred around, Caspian struggled to hold onto the lance.. and then realized that he truly did have NO idea what he was doing. he could drop the lance or drop the shield.. a look to the oncoming storm that was norwood told him the shield was much more important. eyes going wide he dropped the lance, huddling behind the shield as the battering ram of norwood's lance sent him careening off the horse. hitting the ground and barreling along the ground. Grunts and a very startled and pained cry echoed out as the man lay on the ground, the shield rest on his arm, his arm looking oddly like it shouldn't bend that way. but the ground.. it was so comfy.. yes. maybe just a nap.. a quick nap

Norwood was being CAREFUL this time! He was even more //gentle// then he would typically be. Except it's not enough when the other person isn't where Norwood expects them to be. So when his lance smashes into the other rider there's literally nothing the more experienced knight can do as Caspian goes flying. At that point it's up to the gods.... and Norwood wilts as he hears the crack of bones. Excuse him, he's just... going to go see if his opponent is okay. "Healers? Please?!" Again. AGAIN WHY IS GLORIA DOING THIS TO HIM?!

Alis isn't going to fault the protective nature of her family, since she's just as bad. Plus, now that Cristoph and Tyche are all wrapped up in each other and paying her NO attention, she can turn look back at Alantir. "Did someone else just break their arm too? I can't see. Tell me what's going onnnn!" Pause "And it's against Norwood? I think we should check to make sure the Baron hasn't turned to granite or something."

Aleksei looks considerably alarmed when Caspian takes such a hard fall, leaning forward in his seat to try and get a better look. And then he glances at Norwood with a /hint/ of trepidation.

Tesha gives a look over to where Alis is seated and to Alantir that's standing there beside her. Her stormy gaze doesn't stay there for long though as it is not polite to stare. She turns her attention back to the field, where Caspian and Norwood are about to do their passes. Shouldn't be too....OH GODS NORWOOD?! "Let's hope this is not continued in the next match up." the woman states to no one in particular.

"Did... Did you kill him? Why are you trying to kill people?" Ripley calls out from the bench, looking horrified at Caspian's arm fromw here he sits.

Veronica walks up to her Uncle Norwood, "Perhaps we ought to call it a day, hmm~?" Veronica tries to keep her composure, "Before the children around the grounds start calling you... well.. We won't say it, might be cursed."

"Yes, that'd be about why I'm not jousting right now." Ryhalt nods to himself as he winces again with Caspian's fall. Norwood again? Awkward.

"My gods, what a fall." Tikva looks round-eyed over Kicky's shoulder towards the tilt.

Tikva is overheard praising Norwood: The Iron Lance of Duskshire Keep, why, it's as hard as his jawline!

Alis is overheard praising Tikva: Official nicknamer of jousters!

Caspian checks composure at hard. Caspian fails.

Tyche and Cristoph aren't all wrapped up in each other! But the Marquessa is certainly paying Alis little attention now that the Laurent is beside her, because they carry on a quiet conversation, standing very close for the warmth of it, probably. Her gaze moves to the field as the bouts continue.

"I suspect a fracture, your grace," the prince replies, gesturing briefly to an arm. "Extremities do not naturally bend in such a manner. And yes, Master Caspian was dismounted by Baron Norwood. Regardless of injury, the display was certainly impressive," Alantir concludes, happy to narrate.

Caspian awakens from his nap as snow begins to pile up on the man's nose. he blinked a few times, wondering why the world was so.. woozy. the cold helped to dull the pain for a moment. Caspian moved to sit up, then froze as the pain lanced through his arm. he inhaled sharply through his teeth then failed and cried out, "OWW!BY THE GODS THAT HURTS!!!" he quickly stopped himself and offered a salute through a strained smile, "Well struck m'lord..." he slides the shield under him, and using his legs, scoots himself off the side of the grounds, deciding this was far safer then walking.

NORWOOD FEELS TERRIBLE ABOUT THIS OKAY.

Just as with Alis, a team of physicians rush out to attend to Caspian when he's unhorsed like that. They'll help him off the field and attend to any injuries that he might have. The crowd is wild for Norwood! But now there are whispers about the man's intense riding skill and what it might mean for the next person!

And that person is... Tikva. "PRINCESS TIKVA GRAYSON VERSUS BARON NORWOOD CLEMENT!"

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
TIE: Norwood is successful. Tikva is successful.

Olivia watches Caspian and Norwood get ready to go at each other, maybe there will be a bit of luck for the one who doesn't know how to hold the lance. She leans forward to watch but then... Caspian drops the lance, and before she could blink he is sent flying off his horse. She flinches back at the sound of his body rag-dolling across the field and once he stops she rushes over to him to try to help him in any way she is able to.

Tikva marginally fails.

It's quite a clean set of tilts, this time, as Tikva faces the man she has given the erstwhile nickname. She salutes him, and then charges forward like a woman wrought wreckless by life. It's probably reassuring to the onlookers when both stay in their saddles for the next round, each charging on their noble steeds with might and finesse both. And when Norwood's impact cleanly hoists Tikva from her girth and the Grayson rider goes flying, she hits the ground - but she falls reasonably well, and comes up kneeling, panting, and grinning like a maniac. "Whoo!" she hollers. "I'll feel that in the morning, Iron Lance!"

Alis glances at her own arm with Alantir's narrative; a sympathetic flinch given. "Yes, very impressive." she agrees wryly, amusement finally showing in her expression when Tikva is heard hollering and bestowing Norwood with a new nickname. "I think, however, it is time I made my exit. Before everyone else is making an exit and there's jostling going on." Awful thing, that. "Let me know who wins?"

Norwood CLOSES HIS EYESbefore his lance hit this time. He doesn't want to see what happens. When the firs two go fine, he keeps them open for the third one - which is a mistake, because of COURSE that one works. It's with deep relief the elder knight hears Tikva is safe and UNINJURED. Beyond bruises which... duh.

Ryhalt applauds for Norwood, joining everyone's relief that there weren't any broken bones. This time.

Sir Rhys, a Valardin Knight, Laurene, a military adjutant, 10 Valardin Knights leave, following Alis.

Norwood is overheard praising Alis: I AM SORRY

"Of course, your grace. I will write promptly, and wish you a quick and uncomplicated recovery," the prince replies, stepping aside and offering the wounded a polite dip of armet. If not for the small contingent of retainers and guards that were likely stationed somewhere near the stand's foundation, he would likely have offered to escort his cousin home. Alas, he knows she will be left in more than capable hands -- and far from the tyrannical reach of Norwood's lance.

Norwood is overheard praising Caspian: SERIOUSLY I DID NOT MEAN IT

With Tikva being unhorsed by Norwood, that leaves just Aleksei left to face off against the Baron of Duskshire. The crowd cheers as they're left with the final match of the event. "FOR THE LAST TIME, WOULD BARON NORWOOD CLEMENT COME TO THE FIELD! HE WILL FACE OFF AGAINST MASTER ALEKSEI MORGAN."

Cristoph has called for a check of strength and ride at normal.
Aleksei is successful.
Norwood is successful.

Aleksei marginally fails.

Ripley looks a little relieved that Aleksi won, because it means it's him against Norwood and not himself. "Put him on his ass Aleksei!"

Tesha watches the next passes and silently prays to Gloria that the broken bones and unhorsing is over for the rest of the evening. She watches as Alis goes, a worried frown over her, but she knew she was tough and could handle things. She watches the final passes on the field as Aleksei and Norwood are called back to it.

Halcyon, an aureate stallion with a sterling mane have been dismissed.

Oh yes. Put him on his ass! Aleksei will definitely...do that. "Just remember, Baron Norwood," he calls down the lane, "I need my arms for my job!" The first pass seems them both coming through relatively unscathed, with Aleksei grinning wide at the rush of all of it. And then back for another pass, where Aleksei DIES!!!!

No, he doesn't. He doesn't die. He doesn't even break anything! But he does get knocked /right/ off his horse with a very emphatic /thump/.

And then he laughs. From the ground.

"I didn't MEAN to break their bones!" Norwood protests, because he didn't! At least he knows for sure that regardless of the outcome, the well known Aleksei can take a hit. So he shoulders his lance and goes with it, sending up a prayer to Gloria that this not be a fluke where another person gets hurt. After that second hit he slows Steadfast and turns around.... oh god, thank god, Aleksei is laughing. This is good. He walks his horse back and offers a hand. "That was well ridden."

When Norwood is triumphant, Tyche cheers for him by Cristoph's side, both hands lifting to clap and cup her mouth, "To the Baron!" She's grinning when they fall away, and tilting her head to look up at Cristoph. "Your teacher proves once more why he holds such a role. Well done tonight, Duke Laurent. You should be proud of this joust."

Much to Veronica's relief Norwood doesn't kill anyone AND he doesn't keep injuring people, there is a stop in that streak, that's good she nods. Veronica makes way to say her thanks to Duke Cristoph, "The joust was wonderful my lord." she says softly before then walking to her Uncle, "Great job Uncle Norwood. I'm glad I didn't joust against you." she chuckles under breath.

Olivia lets out a breathe as if she was holding it while watching Aleksei and Norwood pair up. She was happy that she did not have to witness... or hear... anymore crunches of bones again.. at least for the moment. She blames the other two injuries on the horses, unclear why no one else see's it but she just knows those beasts have it out for the riders, and anyone else that gets in their way!

Amari has been watching from the sidelines, still sitting atop her horse since it affords her a better view of the matches. Helmet and shield having long been given over to a concerned squire with prodigal tattoos, but even with her left hand unburdened she leaves it resting in her lap. No applause is attempted. She instead clackity taps her rubicund plated knuckles to her tassets to illicit an approving sound, especially when Norwood proves victorious. After a cheer she makes a slow escape with her retinue, no doubt to go ice her shoulder.

Aleksei is still laughing when he clasps Norwood's arm and allows him to help him up. "You too, my lord," he says with good cheer. "A well-deserved win, all told. I'm just relieved I wasn't one of your worse victims." His grin flashes a bit wider.

Lucie spectates the penultimate joust, sitting on the edge of her seat. There are some enthusiastic claps from her section and general approval calling before she picks her way down through the stands and towards the manse. It's not to ice a bruise or two. Really.

Ryhalt applauds loudly as Norwood wins the day with an impressive showing. Looking much like he's well past the point he needs a coffee infusion and bed, he unfolds himself from his seat and makes his ginger way home.

Marigold, a cheeky pygmy goat, Barf, the Bog Dog, Clerk Kant, a mild mannered assistant, 2 Redire Veilleurs, Bandit, a dapple gray Duskshire feral leave, following Amari.

Tesha gives a cheer when Norwood wins, "Well ridden!" she calls to the jousters. She does give a look over to Veronica and there's a nod of agreement to her words, "Glad I don't know how to now." she chuckles to the Keaton.

Tikva cheers and whistles, clapping her hands.

Aleksei is overheard praising Norwood: Well-ridden!

Aleksei is overheard praising Cristoph: Well-hosted!

"Well done, riders!" Cristoph calls out, bringing his hands to his mouth so that he can cup them and project his voice. He calls for Rupert to come over and discuss something with him. Then the assistant is moving through the crowds, speaking with Norwood and Aleksei before handing them off some pouches.

Tesha is overheard praising Cristoph.

Tyche is overheard praising Norwood: The finest rider of the night!

Veronica there is a grin given to Tesha, "Aye, best you probably don't, unless you like having broken bones or worse." she shrugs her shoulders.

Ripley is overheard praising Norwood.

Caspian returns to the field, left arm in a sling, and looking far less in pain. "Well done! well ridden! and well struck!! i'll be singing of Lord Norwood's Iron Lance for days!" he blinked then, frowning a moment, then shrugged. he looked to Olivia "Thank you for trying to help. i would have hoped i was a tad more graceful but... clearly not"

Tesha rises and chuckles, "I think I'll stick to fighting bugs." she tells Veronica. "Have a good evening all." she dips her head as she takes her crimson clad self back towards Telmar Tower.

Norwood bows to all the people praising him, but the best and most honorable way to accept praise is to do so //silently//. That's how he's doing it. He makes the rounds with lots of nods, and accepts Rupert's bag and it's five dawnstone graciously. "I'll have a ring made for Margerie."
