It was good. It was good seeing people gathered, telling stories. It was nice seeing these people gathered at a table and not on a hospital bed. I'm proud to call a great many of those from the Isles friends and I enjoyed them and myself. And the food.

There's nothing like the silence that follows after you've been truthful and communicated with someone.

Such a lovely meal and wonderful stories shared amid friends and allies at the Thrax Dinner last night. Princess Denica mentioned painting a mural featuring bits of those stories. I could imagine the inner sighs of relief from some there that none of the embarrassing or overly risque ones were told.

The trouble with a creative mind is stopping to actually create. Or maybe the problem is that you do not.
Procrastination is the worst.

It was called rutile quartz. That's what I want mine to be made of --

It was so clear: the clouds thin as small swords, the moon slicing bright through them. Caught up, again, in research. The stars in my eyes have shared sharp edges, I yearn to learn more folklore - hear more stories.

Clearly, I am reading too much on Lycene bladework treatises. They've gone to my head.

I watched an owl unfurl from a perch in a tree, so swift -- so silent -- it started me with how striking it was. It swept the grass, talons extended, and I saw nothing afterward but the grass shifting under the weight of its wings.

Beautiful.

Don't come in as a friend only to pull the rug from under your host's feet when they're at their most vulnerable and then bring some uninvited stranger from a far off place to appoint them as the landlord.

That just isn't what friends do.

I've received some sound advice on the matter of arms and armor, of which I am most appreciative. Naturally I could turn to our own people for such advice, but there are times when an outside opinion or perspective is of critical importance.

As a Duke-General! it's important that I am adequately prepared for the unpredictable nature of conflict, but also look the suitably inspiring part. There are standards and traditions which must be acknowledged!

When one discovers that he or she finds sleep difficult to achieve?

Turn to transcripts of the day's declarations. You will quickly champion your ailment and embrace sweet, sweet slumber.

This is my professional advice as a Duke-Physician.

There's always something to be said, or not said within the dome of the small winged creatures. I know that I've been told they are butterflies, though we've known them as colorful dancers upon the wind's edge for ever long. If you get a chance, I highly recommend taking a stroll through the Menagerie's gardens.

A reminder to myself:
Wearing a belt that can whip people when you turn is great!
Wearing that belt on a ship when it has so much steel on it, turns you into an anchor.
