I applaud the good foresight of the crown on ensuring that our ships in the harbor are that much safer.

Though I know some of my fellow captains will find being continuously searched and waylaid by inspections to be akin to getting a rudder jammed up their rear I encourage them to think of the greater good here. It would be far too risky to check for bringers at the gates leaving the harbor. Far better to get them at the source, on the ships themselves. Inconveniencing the ship captains that are risking their boats and their lives to get supplies in is a small price to pay to avoid some unpaid tariffs, after all.

I wonder if we'll get compensation for lost cargo that rots in the hold while we wait in line for our turn for our ships to be worked over like a silk in a shady alley.

Relationship Note on Aureth

I'm starting to worry that Aureth is taking to his new holy life too literally.

He also told me that the demon they faced was invisible. How are we supposed to fight things that can't be seen? I'm starting to rethink the poetry approach. Maybe we *can* bore them to death. What other options do we have?

I have never felt so angry, disappointed, and helpless in my entire life. Gods above. Where did I go wrong? It is time to turn my heart to stone. It is time to cut my heart from my chest. Love, apparently, can die.

It needs not be said, but there will be no banning of whiskey in the Redrain ward.

Drink up, everyone. We have a war to fight. Enjoy your vices while you can.

While Corsetina Wine is made from grapes (and hopefully soon /Setarcan/ grapes); I would, however, deeply interested in acquiring some whisky for sale in the Merchantile. If anyone is interested in trade!

Production, sale, and consumption of alcoholic drinks remains fully legal within the Crown wards and boroughs.

Last Will and Testament of Isolde, Princess of Velenosa
* As per request, the decorative mask goes to Darren.
* The Acolyte vestments and mask go to Vanora
* The rest of my things, both procured and inherited will be divided up by Talen and Eleyna, who shall fight to the death (of ego) to determine who will get final say. They will know those important to me, to allow for tokens of remembrance, if such things are desired.

So let it be written, and so it shall be.

What'd me and Cal say to Rando - huh, huh - oh yeah. That they were gonna TRY and pro-- (this word is crossed out multiple times) prevent the further production of alcohol in the city. (Thanks, Scholar, you're aces.) What they want from us. Try and get the booze turned back into grains? I mean, yeah, let's do that - let's make it a thing. A'right, everyone.

DRINK ALE. Totally grains an'better n'gruel. DRINK WHISKEY. Grains. Corn. Rye. Tastier than porridge. VODKA. Hold up, what's that fancy shit made of, Scholar? Oh, potatoes! RUM. Who the fuck drinks that? Oh, sorry. Them Thraxians do. Didn't mean that. DRINK RUM if you wanna. WINE. Grapes. CIDER Apples, tho. See. Healthy shit.

Whoever is in charge with keeping the Bringer infiltrators out of the city either needs to have their ass kicked or else needs a hearty thanks. I don't think I've had so much fun in a long time and who knew there were so many different creepy varieties of demonic things to cut the heads off of!

While I hate to take advantage of another's foolishness, in the event that a ban on grain sales for alcohol is actually worth bothering over, I am happy to remind the public that alcoholic beverages in the form of delicious Deepwood Cider are available for purchase from Mercier merchants.

I shall have to remember to send dear Tristan a case of it.

On the attempt to ban alcohol:

One - All alcohol worth drinking was brewed some time ago. Forbidding its sale is not going to magically reconstitute its grain.

Two - Alcohol is sacred to Mangata, you twit. Shall we reject a goddess's blessing even as we need divine goodwill?

Three - Morale, blah blah. There's a point here but I spent most of my eloquence on slaughtered civilians.

If anyone wants to raise a glass to honour the Lady of the Waves, I'll be in Traders tonight. Even when the darkness is at our throats we fight all the better for a moment's respite.
