Description: A young wisp of a girl, with silky auburn hair that falls in loose waves to the middle of her back. She typically wears her hair in a tight braid that crowns the top of her head when she is on patrol. Her luminous blue eyes, framed by delicate lashes, behold her surroundings with rapt focus and no small amount of curiosity. Her delicate face is composed of soft lines with high cheeks and rounded features. Her pert little nose is small and short, but somewhat upturned at the tip and dusted with a smattering of pale freckles.

Personality:     Harper is aware she doesn't look like a warrior, but she is content to let her enemies make the mistake of underestimating her. What she lacks in experience she makes up for in sheer will, and an outright refusal to give up on herself and those she cares about. She is far from stoic, but keeps a level head on her shoulders and does not usually exhibit reckless behavior. In many ways she is still discovering who she is, but she has a good idea of what she does not wish to be.

Background:     Harper Ashdown was born among the denizens of the Lower Boroughs, before being relinquished to the Tragedy upon the untimely deaths of her parents at the behest of a serial killer. She grew up close to the most impoverished in Arx and witnessed their oppression, their suffering, and their helplessness. Someone needed to stand up and protect them, and that someone would be Harper.

She made sense of the chaotic, disorderly world she grew up in by formulating her own code of ethics and behavior. It was almost knight-like, if it wasn't obvious she distrusted knights. After teaching herself how to wield a blade by befriending a retired soldier and convincing him to adopt her, she decided to join the weakened Iron Guard after the betrayal of their former Lord Commander, sensing her chance to change it for the better and protect the city she loves.

Recently, she married Magpie Grayhope and joined the Grayhope family as Harper Grayhope nee Ashdown.

  • Name Summary
Adora That's a weird way to pronounce Mae. Mayir's wife. Chipper. I don't like her.
Aethan Saved a child. That is quite an impression.
Ainsley Smart and seems to have her head grounded. We need that in the Guard.
Alessandro Iron Guardswoman, and apparently working on her pronunciation. I do not agree with Master Grayhope -- she is doing an admirable job.
Alexis Still Harper Ashdown - upbeat and cheerful and loyal and dedicated. Still not sure if she likes girls, tho'
Amantha This one is sharp, and unafraid to ask questions to get to the bottom of things. Fine qualities in a guardswoman.
Andry Not good with plants, has a nice blush, heart in the right place.
Aslaug (Sketched on a piece of parchment is what appears to be a representation of blowing winds. There are multiple, curving lines, all flowing in the same horizontal direction.)
Austen A very enthusiastic guardswoman. However, I feel safe with her. This could be the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Or not.
Berenice The Archduke's protege, it would seem! She gave Lord Aethan quite the run for his money in the sparring ring.
Carmen Perky and pleasant. My favorite Grayhope BY FAR.
Coraline I have nothing but the greatest respect for Harper. Everything she does is done with dedication and respect and I am honored to serve with her.
Delilah My sister's stalwart, trusty partner who has a brilliant sense of humour. She doesn't hesitate from offering a welcoming word and accepting a glass of wine. Kind and bright, her spirit shines out in the best of ways, and I find myself at ease in her company.
Edelma Friendly and easygoing, just the kind of person I'd like to spend my time with. No worries about any noble etiquette either.
Elora Smart and skilled. Excellent qualities in a member of the Iron Guard. I look forward to getting to know her better outside of an emergency situation.
Emmelline a very direct sort of woman. fun to converse with, and doesn't seem to beat about the bush.
Evaristo A good friend of Joscelin's - I will always be thankful to her and Magpie. She seems to be a kind and nice person.
Faye A brave woman and good traveling companion. Seems sensible. I like her.
Galen She is the counter socially to her partner in investigation - the two of them work well together.
Gilroy Magpie's wife and a touch of order in the Lowers, which is perfect for a law abiding citizen such as myself.
Harlex She's friendly enough. Member of the Iron Guard. Comes off respectable and level-headed.
Helia She's very likeable! Bright, cheerful and good conversation. Hopefully we can get drinks and chat again soon.
Ignacio Mistress Harper of the Iron Guard. She has a desire to give nicknames, but it seems to be a way to become more personable with people and she seems overall friendly. I would really like to have a chance to spar her sooner or later, every Iron Guard I have witnessed can hold their own very well.
Jaenelle Smart. Capable. Harper seems to be the type of woman that can remain clearheaded when all around her is falling apart and someone who would stand beside you through it all. She clearly is someone to be admired.
Jasher Good swordplay. A pity she's a woman.
Jeffeth Guardswoman and auxilary to Solace, she seems a good sort, may not be for all the fancy secrets but she's good for boots on the ground and attacking things from eye level.
Jordan Guard lady. Seems very nice, we've come across each other a couple of times in the past, and she's got some contacts with important and powerful people.
Joscelin Feisty and fast, short and powerful. Very impressed with how quickly she can go from conversational and casual to dangerous.
Jyri Jyri has always enjoyed Harper's steady company. He finds her level-headed, and her loyalty to the Iron Guard is unquestionable in his mind. That she also learned how to handle animals and assisted him with this before, putting up with his gruffness? That's earned his respect.
Kenna I have always adored Harper, and her competence as makes me so grateful to occasionally have her as a patrol partner. Such good sense!
Klaus A friend of the Princess Coraline, and with a wry sense of humor to match my own.
Laric An earnest young member of the Iron Guard. Respectful, if somewhat unpolished. We'll see what the future makes of her.
Leola His Highness Prince Talen's protege - again - and so very clearly, someone to keep a close eye on. She's a good enough humor, by her acceptance of his terms. I trust that innocent face as far as I could trace those freckles.
Lothar Curious as a crow, and all smiles. A friend of Jyri's, maybe?
Lou She has a very curious mind, and seems eager to learn things. This should be encouraged, but also tempered with the right tools so knowledge cannot also be used against her.
Luca Anyone Talen likes is already fine in my book. The way she lazes about her words is a bit charming, isn't it? I'll have to see her at the end of my own blade to really see what she's made of. My cousin was going just a touch too easy on her. I'm sure I'll see more of her around. Will that be a good thing for her? Time will well.
Lucilia She's a Guard, what more is there to say? Yet, she seems at least more competent than the rest.
Magpie Magpie met Harper when someone was trying to rob his cousin's store. Not only did she help him stop the robber, but she didn't make a fuss when he broke the thief's knee. *THEN*... she somehow weaseled her way into his heart. Is it all some Iron Guard conspiracy???
Marian Officer Harper isn't too bad. Seems to find amusement at our silliness. Being an Iron Guardsmen isn't easy either. Can be a thankless job at times. Glad to see her duty doesn't define her.
Mason Mason enjoyed meeting with Harper. She seems to have a genuine desire to help people, is passionate, and well-serves the city and it's people. Meeting one such as her gives the Eurusi man much hope for the future and the endless struggle against the darkness.
Melody I suppose it doesn't surprise me that those in the Iron Guard have a strong stomach, but /something/ -- NO IDEA WHAT -- Tells me that Harper is tougher than she looks.
Mercedes Iron Guard. Seems to be a good egg. Has a good head on her shoulders.
Miranda Extremely cheerful lady. Friendly enough. Might be nice to have around when one is in a poor mood!
Mydas Initially met as Talen's protege, the woman associated to the name has proven diligent, honest and dedicated. A good woman, and a useful one, which is some of the highest compliment I can give.
Niklas Guardswoman with a nickname for everyone. That probably makes it easier to tell Wynna and Wylla apart.
Norwood She seems a formidable woman, and friendly enough when not wielding her weapons.
Orelia Intriguing. She seems friendly and approachable, with some very charitable notions.
    Petal friendly Iron Guard member
Philippe Harper is an Iron Guard that comes with high regard from Thena. I am to work with them into investigating what happened to the Knights of Solace in the Lowers. If this happens to tie back to the Children of Malar, I hope I can count on her to put them down.
Reese eager to help and friendly
Rinel An honest and headstrong young woman--definitely from the Lowers. But I think she will be a true asset to the Guard. I bet she gives Sparte headaches.
Sabella My favorite cheering section! I did not get to talk to her as much as I would have liked at the beach party, but anyone who cheers for me is destined to become a good friend!
Seth This wisp of a young woman happens to be an Iron Guard. I met both she and a man named Tynan at the Empyrean one evening. While her associate didn't look as if he cared for my hound pup, she simply adored Cale. Pleasant enough.
Silas Harper joined the Iron Guard soon after he was appointed to the position of Lord Commander, and it has been a delight to watch her grow and ascend the ranks herself. She reminds him a bit of himself: focused and unapologetic for who she is and what she wants. Might not make for a great politician, but they're great traits for a guardsman and champion for the little guy.
Talen Harper's returned to the city, and she's back to speaking with him once more, and that'll likely mean she'll say things wrong, do things wrong, and ultimately be a pain in the ass. Luckily for everyone involved, Talen's not exactly got a track record of taking on people who are boring, so she's got that going for her.
Theodoric What is there to say about yet another Guardsman (woman), reasonable, protective, all the qualities you want in a guard though I prefer inattentive and lazy
Tynan The pretty lawgirl must be working too hard, she needs to learn to decompress and not take everything so seriously. I'll wear her down eventually.
Valarian Typical Iron Guard, all stodgy and stuck up, all about her duty and blah blah. Too bad, she's got a wonderful sense of humor and she's not bad looking. But! Iron Guard attitude, as you'd expect. No wonder I didn't join!
Zoey Spunky little thing. She was an even match for Aethan's practice axe, which is saying something. Apparently, she's also a friend of Master Magpie's.
