I'm looking at making sure there are more places of comfort for people to enjoy the Menagerie at (place items!), certainly upgrading the exhibit pens and enclosures (more place items), and opening up the area to include a center for training, for education, for gatherings (rooms!) and doing a face lift to the area in general (descriptions!)...
Marquessa Samantha, Lord Estaban, Malik Whisper, and a few others have already come forward expressing interest to help! I'm thankful that I'm not the only one who believes that our animals are important too. Thank you for your contributions so far!

Yet once oaths are made, once fealty is established, these very same Abandonned turned Prodigals are expected to follow the same laws as every citizen of the Compact. Our offer is for them to join the Compact as one of us, and every single one of us obeys the laws of the Compact. There are no privileges given that would take one individual higher than those laws, no matter where their origin, be they established nobility or new arrivals to the Compact.
If one makes light of the oaths that bound him or her to liege and crown, then they will be punished, again no matter their origin. We don't need to look very far in history to find exemples of such punishments applied to established citizens of the Compact. Such oaths, in accordance to the laws of Limerance, are sacred. They are not to be made, or broken, lightly.
Something else for all of us to consider, as we move to heal the damage done by Brand and his cohorts. Let the Compact be made stronger through unity, and through the sacred bounds that have unified lord and vassal for generations.

But those newly Prodigal still have a fear; that they will be regarded as no different than those who marched with Brand, and that the resentments for the enemy will be focused on them. We have lost so many, and for some, the anger and fear brought on by Brand and his followers will never be purged, though they will believe it is their right and their need to try. For such people, the target of their ire will not matter, so long as those who suffer at their hands are 'different' from them.
We cannot allow this to happen.
Just as there are both newly Prodigal as well as those who followed Brand, there were also Shav'arvani who chose to refuse to engage on either side, whether out of fear, or a strident desire for peace. It would be easy to dismiss them and to say by not raising their hands, they are the enemy, but if the success of the 30,000 has taught me one thing, it is this: to force someone's hand is to prevent them from making a willing and wholehearted choice. What won these new Prodigals to our side was not force or military strength, but the recognition of their existence as fellow human beings, deserving of respect, kindness, and decency.
No doubt there are Abandoned tribes who engage in foul practices such as blood sacrifice of the unwilling and cannibalism. But in majority, the tribes of the Abandoned are simply people who fear the stripping away of their identity and the worry that the all-encompassing Compact will swallow them up and destroy their cohesiveness. This is a belief that must be proven wrong.
I urge my fellow nobles to make strident effort to insure that peaceable Prodigals and unsworn Abandoned who have caused no harm be protected from harassment and assault. Those who bent knee are owed our protection as our vassals, and those who have not must be shown the value of doing so. They will not find such value in the misdirected anger of the people, but in the display of welcome and recognition that they are worthy of respect.

Also what illness plagued you that made you still a child when you were 16? Is the city truly so different that age is not manhood but still viewed as being a child?

That she was able to take more than one drink of that vodka is a testament of her stubbornness. Or her liver. Probably both.

Being honest, it looks an awful lot like chicken scratch, but who am I to judge the beauty of another language, written or otherwise, when I only know my own?
I suppose what I ought to do is stop scribbling here and track down an actual scholar to ask some deeper questions concerning the nature of White Journals and Black Reflections (if the author does not wish them for all to read them, why not post it to the Black, for example?), as well as whether or not Vellichor only cares that knowledge, any knowledge, is compiled regardless of who can or cannot read it. It is my assumption that if the author of such journals is simply unaware that if he or she were to dictate their journals aloud, they would be transcribed in Arvani, and then all and sundry could read them.
But that still begs the question - if they can speak Arvani, should they not also be able to write it?
I intend to find out!
Please note that the scholars may take some time preparing your journal for others to read.
