I had a rather productive day today. I met with Sameera, discussing a commission I asked her for, and some other things, that led to other opportunities which allowed me to meet Duke Harald Grimhall. A stern, straight to the point man... more people should be like that. Sometimes, it is good to just get right to the business at hand without a bunch of nonsense.
Come to think of it, I had a productive week. And yet, there is still so many people I have to catch up with... if you are reading this, I will talk to you soon! I swear.

Had the pleasure to witness Sir Roland begin his tenure as the Sword of Sanctum today. He'll do the position quite proud. I have to say it was a little bit concerning to me just how far Princess Marian fought before yielding, but I suppose even Oathlanders can be very competitive. Or maybe that's just the natural consequence of being used to having Princess Sophie around to see to injuries? Either way, it seems everybody will be fine in the end, so that's a relief.

Someone mentioned the way frost looks in winter.....and I realize....I'm going to get to see an actual winter. I'm both excited, and terrified to be honest. What if I hate it?

The more boisterous cousin. I am not sure I'm ready for the trouble you'll cause without Catalana here.

The king has woken and acknowledged my position, and I feel quite accomplished for that. There's no word on whether or not the Crown Court will become a Ministry of Justice, but for now, I'm relishing the knowledge that the King has accepted what we created. That is a victory in itself.

I hate that winter is coming, but I think I might like this winter better than the others.
May your hopes find safe harbors.

When I was serving my penance, the question was when I would get my blade at. Now that I have my blade back, the question has been when the wedding is. Once I get married, I wonder what the next question will be. I hope its not about when something is, being a living calendar can be draining.

You did good. Not too many could go toe to toe and blow for blow with Marian.
She picked right in next Sword of Sanctum.
The burden isn't always the best one to bear, you gotta have the shoulders for it. And not a lot of people really get what it takes to be Sword, so I'd call it an exclusive fucking club. But from what I've seen from you, you'll do fucking alright.

It's always perturbing to see such a lack of solidarity from one's own kinsmen. Did we not grow up under the same roof? Were we not both viewed as outcasts among our family? Did we not both strive for acceptance? Are you not named the Sword of Maelstrom? Yes, understandably, some things may not have gone your way. Though it is not in our ways to make petty jabs at one another. It does no one justice to see that you wish to stand apart so desperately that you would willingly jest about the relations that some of us have worked so hard to build. Your own sister has put blood, sweat and tears into Thrax. Do you not have a beautiful wife and a Duchy that was left in your care because we have faith in your ability to tend to the lands that our ancestors carved out from the inhospitable isles? Ours is most certainly a brusque, direct manner. No one will deny that, but the High Lord has made friends in every corner of Arvum. To speak about our willingness to corroborate with any other vassal of the Crown is disrespectful to the efforts of those who are putting their best foot forward. Set aside whatever differences you may have, imagined or otherwise. If you have issue, take it up with us. Do not air dirty laundry in white journals for sympathy.

Insult the Admiral of the Leviathan at your own risk
You'd best have deep faith in the Sentinel to keep you safe.
I stand for the Admiral as I stand for Thrax.

My loved ones are well and I've coin in my purse, enough to wear what I'd like to wear and drink and what I'd like to drink. And while there's strange things afoot there's nothing breathing down my neck. That the king's awake and that's likely good news for Arx. I've been asked if I was satisfied and I have to say I am well enough.
I have sent some money to the Faith and I spent some more in the old neighborhood in the Lowers. Now maybe some folk don't care for that, though I can't rightly understand why, but money's made for spending and that's how Gild likes it. Not that I'm a Godsworn, but that's how I was taught, there's no offense in giving charity and no shame in the taking it.

Are all the festivities here so grand? From the Laurent's festival to the beautiful celebration at the Hart, I am impressed.
I am suddenly concerned about my ability to be a good host and I have not yet discussed with my wife if this is a skill that she possesses.
To make matters worse, I appear to have invited a great deal of people over to supper when our home is complete. Perhaps I should choose a day of the week and hold a friends and family supper...
Actually, I rather like that.

Turo
Count Turo Navegant has already proven himself a good friend and member to the Society of Explorers; he came bearing charts and old sailing journals to contribute to the Society's records. Anyone who donates to the shelves has my respect and thanks.
Besides which, it's good to have a sailor in our ranks -- the majority of our members are of the land-locked sort, and it could well prove useful to have access to a ship for some expeditions. Diversity of skills is key to the Society being able to take on a variety of expeditions, after all.
Gods know, I'd never have made it along the coast of the Wastes, or out to that one island in the Mourning Isles, if I hadn't been able to take passage on a ship for a while. And I can only assume there will be a few expeditions that crop up in the Isles and the Saffron Chain -- or even one to venture into the Wastes, someday. Having a ship -- or at least a member with experience sailing one -- could prove vital to those.

Alexis
This Oathlander armorsmith turned up at the Society looking for me. She was another friend of Niamh's, and wanted to express her condolences -- and share memories. It was... oddly relaxing, in a way. Sad, yes, but... nice to have a conversation that was about little things Nia did, rather than about the fate of the world or some impending abyssal threat.
(Gods, some days my to-do list would seem unfathomably odd to the Aislin of five years ago.)

They've made a treaty with the elves. With what they did to us when we entered the forest, it seems unthinkable to allow such madmen inside the city or wed one of their kind to the King, but Aislin tells me their perspective is merely... different from ours. So I must be open-minded, or at least try to accept them.
The upside is that we were finally able to go into the forest to deal with the remnants of the devastation left by Brand's march. For that alone I am grateful, though I worry that our work is far from done.

I am absolutely thrilled that so many people had a good time at our Autumn Festival. Seeing everyone cornholing so joyously with one another on the lawn was truly a sight to behold.
We will certainly have to do it again sometime.
