Relationship Note on Edward

It has been fun getting to know the Baron. He is reserved, yet can be bold when he wishes to. He has been a good friend and I certainly recommend him as a confidant. He is strong of body, and of mind. I've enjoyed getting to know him, and he has advice that can cut right to the heart of the matter, yet be just as effective.

Relationship Note on Quenia

My darling sister has once again risen to the occasion and used her powers of persuasion, called in favors, or just used pure might to pull the Igniseri family together once again for a successful family dinner. It's always nice to get everyone together and we manage that no one loses an arm. The food was good, and..Bacon Muffins were donated by the good Lord Edain from Valardin. I hear the house primarily runs on bacon as fuel. I cannot say I am quite of the stomach for continual bacon, however they produce many stalwart knights and I am not so physically stalwart, so perhaps there is something to this bacon physique diet?

I got to say hello to most my family here, the lovely Echo whom is as fierce as she is beautifully petite. The lovely Ariella, whom starts out good company and I swear becomes even better so the more she drinks, though the bawdiness is equal to that of any seasoned sailor. And of course my sister, whom managed somehow to keep us all in line. Good show, sister of mine. To any reading know that the lovely Marquessa Quenia is not only intelligent, a good leader, and the true voice of our family, but she also happens to be single.

Inquisitor Laric Grayson came to the party. Invited, of course. Though perhaps he was lured in curiosity about the bacon muffins as I was? Bacon..in a muffin? Something about that seems blasphemous, perhaps he chose to investigate? Perhaps not. Either way I do hope he had a satisfying time and a equally satisfied belly.

To my family - I've missed you all so. It was good to see you all. I love you, and it is good to see you all well and around a table once more, even if I question the viability of what appears to be Ariella's choice of seating.

We should certainly do the family dinner again soon. Perhaps I will help my sister with it's planning..though probably not.

On the other hand, it's always better to snark about the obvious than it is to snark when you're glaringly wrong.

Mae! She must have been the host lady. It was a very nice hosting. I hope many coins were raised for much soup. How they made pastry wine I do not know. Well done you!

Relationship Note on Nierzen

You, actually. You're next in line. In order to prepare you, we're going to have to acclimate you to their environment. So please, come to Deepwood Manor within the next few days. I'll hold your head under water until we think you're prepared for your pending marriage.

I jest, of course. If you find yourself wishing to know more of the differing factions and their relation to one another during that period of time? I will gladly invite you to meet with me at House Deepwood's residence in the Ward of House Grayson. We'll discuss the topic and hopefully provide you with a mixture of history, tales, and information.

Oh, yes, the Marin'alfar and the Gyre, the strongest of alliances since the likes of the Nox'alfar and Tolamar Brand.

Good gods. They're definitely not _Brand's_ Nox elves. Brand wanted very, very much to murder the fuck out of the Nox'alfar. They were not fighting with him.

Relationship Note on Apollis

The other night I had the pleasure of running into Apollis after far too long, and under far too sad a circumstance.

I know what he is going through, to have lost his beloved so recently and find himself so lost about what comes next. I told him it gets easier.

It does. I just didn't tell him how long it takes.

Relationship Note on Braith

Light and life and tales and songs that make my heart smile, even in the darkest times.

I am not a woman given to whimsy, but dear Braith brings merrier spirits out in me.

I finally begin to feel more rooted in Arx. Even if my heart remains in Giant's Reach, I am surrounded by love and strength, and I know we shall do as we're called to and more in the days ahead. Mountains do not yield.

Relationship Note on Carita

My new patron. I am still learning about her, but so far she has impressed me. I've heard that she is a former Thrall, and that was probably the biggest factor for my decision. As a former thrall myself, how could I refuse the patronage of her? I hope our new relationship works well.

Too late.

Marchande popped the cork for me and swiftly ran off. It taste very good, with a splash in tea. Strong tea, but very good in tea. This might be an occasional treat.

One does wonder how it tastes with Kennex mango vodka...

We have sent out the call, as we should. And now begins some of the much less glamorous work that goes into a successful mustering of troops. The endless lists of supplies, the checking and re-checking of numbers. Planning out travel routes and supply routes and mustering points and advance scouting. Some of it will be done on the way of course, since it's impossible to predict everything in advance. But, things go so much smoother when you make a plan and try to anticipate the needs of a (hopefully) large force of armored individuals (and also warhorses!).

The part I enjoy will be addressing our troops and vassals directly, making sure they understand what's at stake and reminding them of the reasons we fight. And, why we win. When we are motivated and inspired we fight twice as hard. I pray I am up to the task.

Praise be to Gloria.
