Relationship Note on Felix

I have hired this man, Felix Meadson, to craft me a two weapons, one is a sword and the other is an ax for backup. The work in his shop was amazing to me, and my hand is quivers for the joy of practicing with my new blade and ax, my hand messes the feeling of something not made out of wood, or cheap iron. He says in a week I shall have it has been too long since my last one was lost at a battle at sea, and I await with bated breath for this to be mine.

It is odd the things that can happen when you put yourself outside of your comfort zone.

I am not good with meeting new people. It goes back to a few years ago when I met two Ladies and a Marquis. I was my usual self, and I admit that I can be flighty, pithy and sometimes too witty for my own good, but I heard them gossiping after. They called me vacuous and made my dramatics seem ..silly.

I know that I am silly sometimes, but when things are serious, I can be serious as well.

The time to be serious is coming very soon, and I hope that everything I've done and will do to help will make a difference.

No longer conflicted with the personal matter. I have made a very good friend. It's funny how life works, sometimes. Treat each individual as they show themselves to be to you. Always be loyal to your family, however. I received Allegiance yesterday. She was wrapped in black silk, and held very reverently by the assistant of my cousin, the Marquessa I serve. Some people may not understand why I gendered the sword in particular, but they name boats, they name their weapons as well. You hear captains referring to 'her' all the time; where 'she' is their ship. So it is with Allegiance. A part of me, a part of my family, and a reminder why I must never swerve from the path I've chosen.

Relationship Note on Fergus

Now I really regret our last interaction is me telling him to suck a donkey. I owe him a drink, someday.

God songs, continued:

Lagoma:
Circles go round themselves, time after time
So too the meter of songs as they rhyme
Renew the body to be in its prime
Every season a new paradigm

Limerance:
Honor your vows with great fidelity
Follow the laws true and set yourself free
Unbroken trust is the greatest of these
Love in your heart: the best reality

Mangata:
Breathe the air, drink water, be full of life
Take to the sea, though it may cause you strife
Forests and mountains where waters are rife
Goddess, sustain all us, husband or wife

Petrichor:
Green are the fields, the crops planted in loam
Sweet is the honey from each honeycomb
Lovely the land is where'er one should roam
Warm is the hearth of every dear home

If what the other servants are murmuring at the Villa is true...
Well, those are really bad news.
Scary ones.

Relationship Note on Fergus

It was late, and I was trying in vain to learn to use a dagger at the training center. Fergus arrived with his baby, Nia, saying she was fussy and he takes her for walks so Marian can sleep. I didn't know him well, but it seems proper to share a memory of the man, and this will stick with me as part of his character.

Speaking of reaching out to those that want to know - I have been tasked to research something on behalf of the Archscholar.

If you would like to donate some precious time to help me pour over some notes and books, I would be most grateful.

The clock tower is not only a marvel and a splendor to behold but I feel it represents something more. I wonder if we are to be reminded of our own mortality by it, to be reminded that our time is running out or perhaps the spirits or gods felt it necessary - but to what end?

Who knows anything about clocks? The History of Time? Send me a note should you have any information, I'd love to chat about the philosophical implications and perhaps learn a little bit more myself.

Some short songs for the gods. Not all of the gods yet. It takes time to write. But some of the gods. In alphabetical order, because that's as good a method as any, I suppose.

Aion:
Beautiful dreamer, create unto me
Teach and inspire with your mystery
A wonder fantastic for all to see
Light and true joy from our learned history

Gild:
Charity mothers civilization
Yet travel can cause so much frustration
Prosperity grant the population
Hospitality to every station

Gloria:
Guide always my hand when I go to fight
Grant me no warfare unless it is right
Keep me beside you always in the Light
Protect me always from unending night

Jayus:
A song, a song is ringing in my head
A dance, a dance, for energy must spread
A painting true or magical instead
The art, the art: I'll make it 'til I'm dead!

I have not written a proper journal entry in a while, not as such.

There's a war on the horizon, as folk say, this one being the horizon you see when you look out on the bay. I am not much of a boat person myself. I don't mind sailing in one, but I fight best with my feet planted solidly on a piece of earth I believe. But if I have to fight on a boat I can fight on a boat. Now the bad thing about a boat is if you fall into the water you might drown. If you fall off a wall you can break every bone in your body, but if you are on a field or on a street then it is not so bad. I think I would rather die on land. I know some folk say drowning is not so bad but I've a hard time believing it.

But I don't know where I'll be fighting, so there is time to worry when it's time to worry.

I came in fourth at the Gauntlet, which I reckon isn't too bad considering how many folk were there. Princess Marian won and it was quite a sight to see. I hurt my knee a little on the tall hurdles twice, but some things just got a grudge against folk for some reason.

I expect climbing ropes and over railings and such is something that happens when you're fighting on boats so maybe that's good practice. Also swinging from ropes, I imagine that happens as well. It's easier if you fight with one hand, I can't rightly see how I can fight and swing from a rope at the same time, but I reckon it's a matter of practice, as folk say.

Well, after hearing that all my siblings have made their way back to Arx, I think it's high time I've joined them! Well, that's right! Mama sis is coming to town! I'll make sure you're all staying out of trouble, rapscallions!

I've missed you all terribly. Now that I'm here, we need a proper reunion! Let us gather everybody. Apollis, Astraea and Amarantha, and of course my little Echo. Let's make sure all of Arx knows we're here! For it has been too long. We're going to need a bigger cask.

Relationship Note on Donaldo

"Where do we draw the line between worth reading, and worth keeping private?"

If you have to ask the question, err on the side of privacy.

But where did you travel from? If there's a story there, don't keep it squirreled away in the Archives: share with the rest of us.

A word of advice to the discerning reader:

* Do NOT engage in any contests for which you are woefully unprepared, unless you are potentially bribed to do so (make sure you are bribed well). This includes but not is limited to: throwing darts; obstacle courses. Battles of wits are left at the reader's discretion. However, it should be noted that those who think themselves clever are usually the first to fall in such contests, and that you shouldn't bring a proverbial dagger to a swordfight.

More to come!

There's a lot of lightness in between the moments of concern for the storm ahead. I am also very conflicted with a very personal matter. Still, I've been training every day to prepare for the war. When it comes to our doorstep, I hope to be ready. I have no doubt that I must honor my being chosen to wield Allegiance, and that I must bring glory to House Mazetti.
