In case anyone is reading who is very rich, when I said red is best, that is only if it's a lot of steelsilk that you are sending me. If you aren't sending me a lot of steelsilk, just a bit, maybe just raw is best, not dyed or nothing, so I can see if I can have it dyed to match the rest I get. My father is a dyer, not that he works with steelsilk or nothing like it, it's just mostly linen and plain colors, nothing fancy, but he does good work, so I figure I could find someone to dye it for me and that way I won't have different kinds of red.

If it was red and yellow or red and green or blue, that would be one thing and that would be fine, but I'd rather not have two different shades of red, most likely.

Anyway, I don't know anyone rich as a Duke who's reading this or not, as I've no idea who'd care. If it's about the songs, I'm working on another but that won't be for a while. But in case anyone feels like their purse is a bit too heavy for comfortable carrying all the way to the bank, here I am. And it'd be a good deed for the Compact too.

I had a good time at the fight up to a point. I nearly lasted right to the end, but there were too many folk hitting me and I arrived late so I wasn't able to make any deals with folk, which is useful in these things.

I find it's better practice than dueling, as you're almost never fighting one person alone on the battlefield. In sparring and I figure duels, though I don't duel myself, sometimes you just focus only on the person in front of you. Now a good helmet's likely to block some of my sight on the sides and such, so any reminders to keep an eye out are good reminders. You put two folk down that you've been fighting, and someone else hits you from the side and that's it. Usually on a battlefield you at least know who's likely to attack you and who isn't, but some folk might have reason to worry about treachery.

Also, I don't rightly understand what all the fuss is about, but if anyone cares to spoil me, I reckon I'd be proper spoiled by some steelsilk. You can send it to Leta Broadbent in the Uppers and I wouldn't mind any. Red is best.

Relationship Note on Alarie

What the fuck are you talking about? Who said I was offended? I was pointing out that if you're buying multiple ships you have a fuckload of coin. Which you worked for. Good for you. I'm not sure what my profession has to do with anything, unless it's not good enough for your tastes. Does it not qualify as hard work for you? Not generous enough? Not honorable enough? Not enough nights bleeding into the dirt for you, protecting ships like yours, caravans like yours, making sure people don't run off with your hard worked goods so you can actually spend that coin on pink painted ships and turn your noses up at people 'selling each swing of our swords'? That's cute. My poor tender feelings are so bruised now.

If you spent that long reading through my bullshit, you might take the time to actually read what I recently wrote. I said I wasn't mad at Reese. I'm not calling her horrible, I said calling her the 'least spoiled' was ridiculous. That implies that maybe, just maybe, she might be a little spoiled sometimes. Most nobles are, let alone one with that much to her name. But by all means, keep acting like someone lit her house on fire by suggesting she's not perfect.

Pretty sure those boats were boats with my own sweat and many nights sewing in my tiny shop in the Thrax ward on very little sleep. Sooooo sorry that my hard work and investing what coin I have into ensuring my son won't have to work through the night when he's as old as me offends your sell sword sensibilities. If that makes me as horrible as a pretty good woman, then i'll take that. Through and through.

Though going back through your whites, and yes, I took an hour to get out of the shop and go look, I get the feeling that when you're not selling each swing of your sword, you're picking through the archives to start a fight. Sure, there's gotta be something better? No? Probably not.

Today I had a wonderful lesson about spending too much time behind a desk, and getting old. I cannot quite match the Sword of Escuma blow for blow, but at least I didn't crumple easily.

How heartwarming that everyone is coming together to defend the honor of a poor, sad Princess and General of House Grayson, the ruling house of the Compact. Truly this is the person who needs our rallying cry.

I undoubtedly think it is an honor and a pleasure both to have met you, and I enjoy your sense of fun, as without you there would be no Donkey Knights, and the barbs you exchange with my cousin. I'm a year late, so I've been told, but welcome to the family, Marquis.

I missed out on the free-for-all, which is a shame.

I didn't miss out on the hubbub surrounding it, which isn't.

Her Highness, Princess Reese, has never acted as anything but the very model of grace, compassion, and courage while I have been around. And given that I'm a mere commoner knight, I don't think she'd feel the need to put on airs.

When an event meant to showcase the martial abilities of the people in the city is overshadowed by the 'afterparty', you know there are some things you'd rather have missed out on. But I won a bet, and that's what matters. Here's to more in the future.

Please provide your definition of spoiled in this case so we might better understand how you have deemed Princess Reese as such. As it stands I concur that she has a lot of wealth. What I can not agree with is an observation that she characteristically is obsessive of her wealth or requires a lot of personal attention for the sake of satisfaction.

Yes, I suppose the people who don't have the ability to buy enough things to keep an economy healthy (or multiple ships for that matter, for fuck's sake), just can't understand the largeness of a heart with enough money to constantly do things like that while still never wanting for anything in the world. Daring to point out just how much such a person has must clearly only come from an ass load of jealousy, and not the reality that most people happen to live in.

As for those worrying about unity? I think unity can handle an argument. If it can't, how can it handle a war?

I would note that in the figurine, Kima is wearing far more clothes than I think she'd want to for such an immortal display.

Did she ever show you the designs for the 'dress' that was basically one singular well-placed chain that hid literally -nothing- from sunlight?

Ah, Kima. I miss you.

I think being entitled or spoiled would mean being ignorant to one's high position, or, I don't know -- abusing privilege to one's own advantage --

Screw it. We're all spoiled. Comes with title. The brains can handle those kinds of philosophical thoughts.

(Overheard and added to the Journal entry 1.11.1008

Listen, Gus-Gus ruined a perfectly good nap to drag me out here. No, I am not going to go combing through the Journals. I have better things to do. Just hit me up with the highlights.

Oh, for good Gods sake. Fine, fine.)

I don't need to ride out to my lady-wife's defense. Save the sofa, Tal. She has armor, she has a sword, she has a white steed. She only seems quiet and gentle, but we all know perfectly well that she has her own voice to roar with. (Depends. Do griffins roar? Do badgers?) She can stand up for herself unless she asks me to. Only then, I'll be standing at her side -- or her back if that's a better defense -- but never in front of her unless it's to take the hit. She's worth it.

If she's good, well. You're welcome. I gave her the training. She came with the heart and grit. I can teach you too. Maybe.

All right. Headed back to bed.
