I had no idea the concept of becoming close to a person would be so...Complicated. Arxians continue to astound me with how complex they are as a people. for all that we are human, the rituals, looks, attitudes, and vast amount of opinions? An outsider might be forgiven for not thinking us all one race of creature!
But for all that this has been difficult, I am also happy. It makes no sense, really, but I am. She makes me so. Time will tell, I suppose.

So much has changed! Wow just a couple of weeks and one's life is hardly recognizable. Since Cat arrived and everything is so much busier I don't know what to do but I look forward to the furture.

Another week draws to a close and I look at the various stacks of research and things I've been doing and find myself surprised. A year ago all that would have sat before me on a desk was a dress I was working on or maybe a book. Now? I actually have a filing system and an assistant. While as a child I never saw myself as an Inquisitor, I certainly find myself enjoying the work. The only down side? The field trips. But at least I didn't fall on my face or anything like I feared. Also? I still do not care for pants.
That is to say, skirts are much more preferable to my person. Not that I don't wear anything below the waist. One must be specific in the Whites when in Arx, I've noticed.

A tradgety happened at The Spirits this afternoon. After receiving a stuffed goat Princess Elgana Redrain let out a girlish shriek of such magantude that it left all the patrons of the tavern deaf. I pray to Lagoma that our hearing will be restored.

History is important. I didn't use to think so, growing up. They were stories, rambled on by old people trying to relive their glory days. Now, I wish I had more of those stories. Trying to piece together our history, scattered in fragments, told and retold through generations is a puzzle without end. When it is finished, you cannot even be sure if it resembles the original truth or not, or has been distorted through the years to fit what the tellers want it to be.
With that in mind, I have decided to collect what of our history I can find. Not only ours, either, but that of all Prodigals. Their culture, their history, their stories and fairytales and songs. We cannot learn from what is forgotten. Let them all be remembered.

Princess Gwenna created a gorgeous painting for me. Despite all her protests that painting is a hobby for her, I believe her skill and creativity are exceptional, and the personal subject matter she chose was quite thoughtful, as well. She honors Jayus with her skill, and I am honored she thought of me for such a generous gift.

I like nicknames.
I think they indicate a warm affection that one has for another person, a comfort between two souls that allows for teasing familiarity. It can be affection shared between family, between friends, between lovers. Granted, there is a time and place to use them. Casual settings: yes. Formal occasions: no. Also, there comes a time when it is appropriate to retire childhood nicknames and upgrade to something more fitting.
So, as someone who has recently shed her nickname of youth, I will entertain suggestions of what nickname suits me now*.
*Don't be mean. Hurtful nicknames are the antithesis of sincere nicknames.

The Deepwood pub crawl was very fun! The parts of it I remember clearly, at least. There are some parts I cannot, quite, which usually means it was VERY fun. I arm-wrestled Marquis-Consort Rymarr, and I must say it's the most challenging bout of that I've had in ages. I thought I had it, but Lord Rymarr managed to best me in the end. Plainly this means we'll need to have another pub crawl soon, so we can have a rematch. My thanks to Lord Grady for putting it all on. It was an evening of merriment for the Deepwoods and friends, which was sorely needed.
There was definitely singing involved at one point. Can't recall if I took part in that or not. Much of my time lately has involved singing in strange situations. I'm not sure what this means. Perhaps I should spend more time praying to Jayus. I feel someone's trying to tell me something.

While Donato is seeing to House affairs at Caina and beyond, I have been named Voice for House Inverno. I am sad to report that our former keeper of books, a capable but aged man, has recently passed and will be greatly missed. Partly because I have no idea what to make of all these books. I think dear departed Tanash was also, perhaps, a hobbyist cryptographer.

While I have not been doing my duty to Vellichor recently in writing journals, I feel there has just been too much gone on to properly record and little time to record it... Between Lord Lysander's wedding and a pilgrimage undertaken for Vellichor, on top of returning to Crovane several times, and meeting my betrothed... my pen hasn't made any of what I've done justice thus far. I will... try, in coming days, to rectify that.

Gentle Readers,
We had quite the scare this morning from Marian, but I am happy to report that all is well. Mae gave her approval for Marian to be moved and we got her safely settled at Greenmarch Lodge. She will be staying with us for an extended time, until she has the babies and feels up to returning home. Though we all hope she stays as long as possible of course. I am certain Myrddin and Nia will enjoy the time together playing too!
I will have to think up some good strategies for keeping her settled so that she doesn't try overdoing it. I fully plan to enlist the entire family in this pursuit!
I should be returning home for now though.

You and your husband certainly know how to throw a party that has created memories -- and stories -- that will last for years to come. It delights me to have been a small part of it all, in providing the drink and an item for your raffle, and Ferric will have a special place in my heart, that paradoxical little goat. In retrospect, with such an ironically inclined goat, I should have known better than to try to tempt him with the expected -- a cloak of goat meat would have been more to his liking, I bet.

Dame Felicia, as a person who babysat a goat for some time, do know that they will eat anything so keep things up high if you wish to preserve them. Also, I do not think getting a pet is the same as going out to meet strangers!

The Keatons party was the epitome of a successful evening! It was put together beautifully, run smoothly, and exceptionally entertaining. They deserve all the praise I may heap upon them.
