You belong here. If you did not you would not have been summoned here. The House is pleased to have you.

It is quite something to read a criticism of another's etiquette when that criticism is surely lacking in the same.

Tend your own garden before you think to teach others how to maneuver high society. Presently you appear to require lessons in that area yourself.

Be better.

Harlan held a dinner this week, inviting family, vassals and a few others, which turned out to be quite the pleasant gathering. It was small enough to feel intimate, and I was able to catch up with some people I don't see enough of. There was also some delightful talk of helping Lord Tomwell - Marquis Leary's brother - with some gardens at his home. Nevermind all the conspiring over he and the lady he is courting, who seems lovely.

Well fought, friend. I didn't know you were a Champion at first, but I knew the moment I saw you start to move. I'm a blunt object, not a duelist, and I hope to train with you again soon, perhaps to remedy some of the bluntness.

Leandro, Only days old but your father and I are over the moon in love with you. You will not only make Fidante and Malvici proud but you are exactly what our people need to put the past behind them.

Leo would be such a proud uncle.

--the handprint of a small child, indeed, a very Aeryn sized infant, in ink --

You should know that one of your cousins has named me Aunt Superior of the Oathlands. I will make sure that this young lad gets in no greater trouble than leaving this little mark for you, so much as it is in my power. Though I cannot promise he may not leave a handprint or two in the house when we get home from the scholars.

Explorers have been asked to fill a library with our stories. I am no book writer, but I can do a little here in the archives even if is does not count for the Explorers.

I stayed the night ones in a farmhouse to escape the rain thanks to the generosity of some locals.

In the morning after eating, I offered to help mend some of the fences damaged by the storm while the hands were busy rounding up some horse who got out by jumping some of the low points in the broken fence.

I noticed that none of their diary cows had escaped, and wondered if they couldn't jump at all.

"They can." The farmer said, "Just not as well as the horses. Still, we need to mend these fences before they get any ideas."

Well we went along patching things up and would you guess that a young calf did get the idea and did decide to jump the fence. It was the most loving and affectionate animal on the farm, and responded very well to being rubbed and pet like you would a dog.

His mother, who was much larger, seemed to be inspired or jealous, I do not know which, but she came hustling to the same low point and jumped with all her might. To my great surprise her head cleared the fence, and her front hoofs after that but then...

Well, this is a long story and I am not a book writer, but suffice it to say that what happened next was a complete and udder disaster.

Perhaps one of the most proactive Swords I've ever come across, Lord Theron is quite the business man. Ostria and House Mazetti is lucky to have him.

This will be my first war where I will not be directly involved. This will be a relief to some. And an unfortunate affair to others.

To those men I wish to lead I will pray for your ferocity in the Salt and for good deaths should you come to them.

My path takes me elsewhere and it is time to look to things beyond the dictations of others.

You seem like the type who expects everyone to be impressed by what a dick you are.

But it’s so easy to be a dick. It’s hardly an accomplishment.

I typed up a long and exhausting entry and it seemed empty, no matter what I said.

Instead I'll simply say that I'm sorry. I wish things were better.

It has been too many nights since I have seen my siblings, I shall seek to remedy that, I need their presence, and their counsel, much is changing and many decisions are being made which I feel they should be privy to...Not to mention I simply miss them, one of my greatest joys in returning to Arx has been seeing them.

Though between my training, drinking, charity work and Sorrel, my own time has been limited...I will figure out how to combine all of those things into one!

It has been much lately, continuing to drill with the fleet, continuing to have meeting after meeting to discuss the coming battle. I can say firmly, one way or another I look forward to some true peace for a while once this is all over.

Much less time spent drinking with friends, much more time spent planning for war! But, should we make it back, there is a silver lining in my future, though, that is a story for another day.

I am leaving Arx today, for a few days. More heartwrenchingly, I am leaving Aeryn. It seems like it should be a small thing, I will not be gone long, but the idea of not seeing him. Of him not seeing me... it...

It is only a few days.

A few days.

Street vendor food is amazing, don't let anyone tell you different.

On the other? I find it vexing that when something like this is discussed it's nobles and commoners. Why not just let it rest on the person. If someone says or does something rude, put their name to it.

There are plenty of nobles and commoners who don't act in the way that most expect. Plenty have courtesy, respect and kindness to people, despite their station.

Those who don't, name them, and let them think about their misdeeds as a person, not their title.

Always disappointing to see nobility jump on commoners in the whites. I'm often astonished by /their/ lack of grace when dealing with the people they're
supposed to have the "burden" of protecting and caring for.

By the way, if you don't like street vendor food? Perhaps you're the one who should go!
