Tonight, we will have the second half of the contestants compete, the following pairs fighting first:
Princess Sorrel Thrax vs Countess Thea Wyvernheart
Lord Haakon Eswynd vs Princess Deva Redrain
Master Caspian Wild vs Lord Savio Amadeo
Sir Corban Telmar vs Lady Xanthe Igniseri
The winner of each fight will fight the winner of the next, and so on, until we have the a final champion for the final fight, soon to be scheduled after this half is complete!
OOC: Each fight is five @checks at hard. A botch is -5 points, fail is -1 points, marginal fail is 0, marginal success is 1 points, success is 2 points, spec crit is 10 points. Posing happens after the rolls are made and the winner is decided. There will probably be a scoring spreadsheet everyone can help me keep track with because my brain is STILL going to be porridge. <3 Note to self: Deva replaced Aksel.

1 Iron Guardsmen, 3 Black Fleet Reavers, Moonsilver, the pale-feathered raven arrive, following Raven.
There's a handful of glasses on Ian's table in the corner, enough for everyone sitting at the full table with a few to spare in case people drift in and out, and a bottle of whiskey, which is already cracked open, because Ian's filled a glass for himself. He slouches in his chair, glass in hand, his expression hard to read, but his intense blue eyes shaded and moody. He's not fighting tonight, and apparently he has decided that instead, he's going to drink. He might also watch some fighting, too, but mostly he's going to drink. He's approaching the drinking part with a certain amount of grim determination.
Drake has joined the ringside table.
Michael has joined the ringside table.
Drake is merely here to cheer on his wife this time, having only passed a round of the tournament before. But still, he seems to be in an all right mood. He walks over and has a ringside seat, looking out at the combat field with interest.
Amidst all the tumult and the crowd stands the figure of Patrizio Pravus, resplendent in his polished armour, hair entirely on point, as he's lingering to see what comes of the event of the evening. That he is not fighting - that he's already sparred and acquitted himself as best he can in the first round - has little to dim the fact that he's looking about eagerly to see who /does/ come out of this round for the grand finale. And as such, as something of a host for the evening beneath the auspices of the good Ambassador, he's making his way through the crowd, with appreciative greetings to those who've shown up, and more so to the more familiar figures to him amongst the crowd.
Bahiya has joined the Champions' table.
Savio has plopped down at the table near Ian, observing him with something thoughtful in his expression as he pours a glass for himself and raises it, cheers, then drinks and murmurs quietly to the table occupants.
The Golden Hart Arena has once again been decorated with an Eurusi flavor, blaziers burning, sheer fabrics draped artfully, the theme a desert in the evening, the sun just having set, a plum blush upon deep blue to mimic an expansive sky cooling after a hot day. Sand-colored cushions and swathes of fabric bely the cold temperatures outdoors.
At the Champions' table, Bahiya'al'Mathali moves to stand, the blind woman's eyes bound with a single narrow ribbon, her lids held closed. She raises her arms and lifts her voice to call out:
"To the generous people of all places and all roads: I bid you welcome once again to the Refugee Charity Tournament!"
One arm drops as she faces the room, the other held out to the side in the direction of the evening's combatants. Her actions are a perfect echo of the first tournament, like a dance memorized.
"Every fighter here has paid their fee, and others still have donated their coin to our goal. I thank you, all of you, for your generosity of money and spirit. What you compete for is the pride of your family, your people, and very rare trade goods." Bahiya gestures behind her to a table guarded, upon whose surface is stacked Pyran fireweave, ivory, and coveted steelsilk. "Only three will touch these delights, honored and favored in skill and luck." And then, her smile grows. "And each of the three will receive a special gift, designed by Eurusi and Arvani hands, and given form by your own Dame Ida Ferron."
She gestures to the room, arms out, fingers spread. "The first fight of this evening is between Princess Sorrel Thrax and Lord Ian Kennex. Before we begin, however, I invite those that wish to grant favor to do so now."

There was a usual entourage following Princess Sabella. However the woman wasn't her usual cheery and all over the place self. There's a pause when she enters, a deep breath and she moves towards a familiar face. She is wearing black for mourning, the gown is a beautiful choice despite the reason for wearing it. Between the guards surrounding her people observant enough could tell her face was puffy and reddened from crying. she finally sits down at the ringside table with her cousin, keely. A guard putting a bottle on the table and handing her a glass. It seems she's started earlier as the bottle is already half empty. However quiet she is, she's here and in attendance.
Hermeline, a russet vixen, 2 Valardin Knights arrive, following Terese.
Raven strides in and looks around for those in attendance. She spots a number of familiar faces and ambles that way until she realizes the one thijng she does NOT spot: an empty seat at said table. She pauses and surveys the available seating and then just heads towards a mostly empty table.
Tesha had arrived with just her guards this evening, giving the dogs the night off from being out in the cold. She found her way down to the ringside table, probably so she'd have a front row seat of the fighters. Or maybe she wanted to see if her cousin was going to get the stuffing beaten out of him. She gives a dip of her head to those that she knows in quiet greetings before she smoothes her skirts and takes a seat.
Corban makes his way into the Arena, having not been here for a fight night in some time. But this is not a fight night, but rather the Refugee Charity Tournament! The First Captain is in his diamondplate armor with his seasilk sash and pendant over it, looking in fine and fit condition for the battle. He makes his way near the sands, to prepare for the battle to come.
Raven has joined the raised seating.
A while before things commence, Keely arrives in snowy whites and iridescent blues and purples, on the arm of Duke Michael Bisland in his usual Bislandy attire. Their outerwear and retinue have been left in the main room, and they chat quietly with grins and muted laughter on the way to a table beside the ring. The princess settles into a seat beside her cousin, Sabella, giving her arm a gentle squeeze and then looking to her other side as her escort seats himself there.
Settling another cigarillo into her holder as drinks start to be served to the table, Mailys looks rather refreshed and cheerful for this hour of day. Conversation at the table is still rather quiet as seats fill with familiar faces to each other. The room allows for the discarding of her cloak, thankfully allowing her to forget the cold outside. "Betting against him is a form of motivation, is that right?" She asks of Giorgio, before casting a teasing look to Savio.
Alis was here for the last round, and certainly didn't want to miss this one. She's only truly noticeable due to the looming presence of guards, even if they don't follow her right to the raised seating that she seeks out right away. Honestly, she wants to /see/ the fighting this time. Polite nods suffice as her greeting for those she recognizes.
Oriana finds somewhere to sit and she smiles as she looks about, her eyes flicker back and forth a bit she moves to choose a seat.
Terese has joined the raised seating.
[Tehom don't hate me for the edit]

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Drake before departing.
The Hart's arena hums with a buzz that sings of the good cheer of the gathering crowd and the excitement to come. The Hart's staff directed to see every cup full and guest well cared for, the arena's mercies and master of the sands ready and standing by to see participants safe, all details seemingly well attended to. And, in the midst of it all, is Valencia, warmly offering a bright smile and cheerful words of welcome to all she meets as she seeks to ensure behind the scenes that all guests and participants are thrilled and delighted and that the event goes off without a hitch.
Viviana's got a drink -- and she finds a table. There appear to be familiar faces at the table. Perhaps. Princess Keely Grayson's familiar. The People's Princess, Sabella Grayson, is familiar. She squints a little at Michael, until it occurs to her, and she acknowledges with a deep bow of her head. "Duke Bisland."
Pasquale looks between the various faces before reaching for some of that whiskey which Ian has so kindly left nearby.
Sorrel is making every effort to cut a dashing figure, hands on her hips and a grin on her face. She bows her head politely to those here who are friends and relations, and then she slips closer to Princess Sabella Grayson briefly for a moment to whisper something to her, her smile being a bit more serious for a moment.
Oriana has joined the raised seating.
Thea is here. Absolutely! Early even! When her name is called, she lifts her helm over head and smiles a moment. "This is a great turnout,"she tells Bahiya,"waving a bit to the others.
Terese enters the Arena, scoping out the area with her keen blue eyes she makes her way to the raised stands in order to try and get the best seat to see all the action and fighting
Thea has joined the ring of valor.
A brilliant smile is flashed at Viviana as she approaches, and Keely lifts a pale hand to gesture toward a seat at the ringside table she and the other familiar faces occupy. "Please, join us, your highness," she murmurs warmly. "It is so nice to see you again so soon."
Stepping into the arena, Medeia looks around for her husband - who is competing - to wish him well before finding herself a seat somewhere with a good vantage point. There are a few friendly smiles and waves exchanged with people she knows, but the lady doesn't settle into a spot beside anyone in particular.
Avalanche, a fluffy mountain pup, Jasper, an unflappable scoundrel, 2 Redrain Guards, 1 Redrain Veteran Guards arrive, following Deva.
Sabella cants her head to the side patting Keely's arm in reassurance as she gave hers a squeeze. She's drinking now, glass already poured. A few sips in-between and she hears Sorrel's whisper. She nods her head and offers a thin lipped awfully faint smile. As best as she can of course. She clears her throat, tone of voice wavering, "Thank you sweetness." Sabella would say to Sorrel
"Thank you so very much for allowing us to host this here, your highness," Patrizio says to Valencia, when he manages /finally/ to make his way over to where the latter is seeing to the matter of how her host of attendants see to the guests in the arena. "I can't speak to how much this means to me, and gods grant that the cause is well-aided between these two spars, and the grand finale when it occurs." The jade eyes do turn, at Bahiya's announcement, to see how the first matches are about happen, with a draw of his breath.
Tesha has left the ringside great table.
Sorrel has joined the ring of valor.
Sorrel checks dexterity and medium wpn at hard. Critical Success! Sorrel is spectacularly successful.

Deva is late, which is unfortunately her style these days. Ponytail askew, she attempts to straighten it on her way in, with hands smoothing down leathers to adjust and straighten. "I'm excited for the show, Ambassador!" she calls out to Bahiya with a smile, before that expression shifts to regard Keely and her table with a fingerwiggle of greeting to punctuate.
A smile comes, warm and sweet as Patrizio finds her in the heavy churn of the exuberant crowd. "It is my pleasure, highness. A fine cause and excellent people, the honour and pleasure is ours," Valencia earnestly smiles, offering him a delicate hand in warm and fond welcome. A pause soon flows as Bahiya announces the event's start and a little ripple of pleasure seems to flow through her. "I adore this part. When an event starts. You will convey my thanks to the Ambassador and Prince Kenjay. I do not wish to distract. But I think with all the fine faces I see, this tourney is a very great success. I am thrilled for you and for those helped thanks to the generosity."
3 House Velenosa Guards, Matteo arrive, following Arman.
Thea has been training. Honest! She circles Sorrel, for the briefest of moments. Which may have been her downfall. Thea is fast for a time, but not fast enough at times. There's a brief smile at the woman, as she continues however, a look of determination on her face.
Alis attempts a smile when Deva arrives, ponytail askew, but at least manages a wave to her friend. And then a gesture down towards the ring with wide eyes. Look at the fight! So excite!
Michael Bisland, Duke Yadda Yadda, is plopped down in a seat beside Princess Keely Grayson. To her right hand side, like Bislands do to Graysons. He is in aeterna as if he wanted to disappear into the sudden snowstorm that has embroiled Arx like it always seems to do on the first days of winter. "Hm?" He might seem to say because he is a vapid boring man who has entirely missed conversation around him.
Raven nurses rum and watches, flanked by mostly unrecognized faces so there is little to pull her attention away, green eyes tracing the motions the combatants make one the sand.
Viviana has left the ringside table.
A scuffle has erupted at the corner table as Savio leans over to punch Giorgio in the arm, ungently.
Tesha has joined the ringside great table.
Haakon watches the swordplay with far more interest than whatever Savio is doing.
Jayne, Burly Sailor arrives, following Wash.
Mailys snickers as the brother exchange playful attacks upon one another, trying to keep the lit end of her cigarillo out of the way of Savio's movement.
A warm laugh slides from the throat of the Pravusi prince as he's taking up Valencia's hand, drawing it to his lips briefly. "I think that it would mean more to them for you to do so yourself, though I've yet to see his highness this evening in person. And I agree. It is the first moments of a spar, when there's hope eternal for positive outcomes, Gloria be favourable to one, and... I did lamentably little, I fear. Save for perhaps mildly comport myself well in the last round of matches."
Monique rises from her spot at the corner table, crossing to where her ex-husband lingers by the sands. There's a moment where her hand is empty and then it's not, a pendant resting there. She offers it to Corban, murmuring warmly, "I meant to send it earlier, to go along with my favor but I forgot. I hope they both bring you luck in this tournament."
Ian casually moves the bottle of whiskey out of the way of the scuffle, like a man who knows the things in life that are important.
Monique gets large geometrical gold pendant with emeralds from a silk bound large gift box.
Keely has cheerfully ignored how boring her companion is, turning to speak softly with Sabella. She does not -quite- turn her back to Michael, for that would be RUDE, but his vague hum of a question only receives an absent, light pat on the forearm from the Grayson's gentle hand.
Ian has left the corner table.

Giorgio has joined the ringside great table.
Raven has joined the corner table.
Terese claps for the two fighters. "Good fight," she cheers excitedly. The Valardin Princess seems excited to see the tournament
Tesha gives a look over to the other table and spies Duke Bisland, but he seems to be engaged at the moment. For now Telmar lady watches the first pairing and there's a clap given to both Thea and Sorrel at the performance. Then her eyes go to the corner table where someone got punched.
Raven has left the corner table.
1 Iron Guardsmen, 3 Black Fleet Reavers, Moonsilver, the pale-feathered raven leave, following Raven.
Monique has left the corner table.
Monique has joined the ringside great table.
1 Iron Guardsmen, 3 Black Fleet Reavers, Moonsilver, the pale-feathered raven arrive, following Raven.
Not entirely certain that Thea has been training, Sorrel glances over her sometimes student with a studious smile, far less aggressive in her introduction than the Countess. She dances a little as the other woman circles her, and she lets Thea promptly wear herself out by overextending her reach. The bard makes it all look like a lovely dance, a gentle flow of swordplay that possibly makes her opponent look better than she might have with a less graceful partner. Of course, not every move is perfect, and they both stumble a bit. Still, Sorrel does her best to make them both look like excellent swordswomen, even if she bests Thea in the end. And when they are done, she sweeps a bow to her opponent, the hostess, and then the room.
Raven has joined the ringside great table.
Sorrel has left the ring of valor.
Corban is watching the sands, ready to cheer on his good friend Sorrel, but turns when Monique approaches him. There is a soft, pleased smile when she offers him the pendant. "Thank you, Lady Monique," he says, moving to take it in his hand. "I shall hope for Gloria and Gild's favor in this display of skill."
Savio has left the corner table.
Savio has joined the ringside great table.
Drake claps a few times, watching the fight go down. He's cheering Thea on.... but doesn't want to distract her. It didn't seem like he did, but, Sorrel is a tough opponent. He scoots back and taps the seat next to him, offering her a spot to watch the rest.
Deva claims a chair somewhere near Keely, even if she has to screechy-scrape a chair across the floor to do it. She beams a smile at all those gathered at the Grayson's table, while nursing a whiskey in both hands that she grabbed from somewhere. "This should be good." What exactly? She doesn't specify.
Gunner, a lovable goof of a Mistward Labrador, Nara, an enthusiastic young sailor arrive, following Porter.
With a lift of her blade, the Wyvernheart is able to dodge a few of Sorrel's own hits. That is---until Sorrel hits her. Hard with either a blade or elbow. Or something.
Getting up and dusting the dirt from her pants, Thea squints. and dartas again. But you know--sometimes what looks in your head doesn't always come out great. Her ankle gives out. Because why wouldn't it? Old wounds and all. And she stumbles as she's ready to attack Sorrel again. A loud Fuck escapes her lips, just before she gains her footing again.
Thea steadies herself. Honest. Eyes narrow, as she tries from one more weak attempt, that is completely blocked.
Porter has joined the ringside great table.
Wash slips in and leans on the doorway, a drink in his hand already.
Pasquale has left the corner table.
Ian takes note of Wash's entrance, and the beginnings of amusement that he was starting to display at the scuffle between Savio and Giorgio fade. He excuses himself curtly and, pushing to his feet, threads his way around to meet him. "Wash."
The Ambassador hears her name called and she smiles but doesn't respond directly, raising her hand and waving. Prince Kenjay Redrain is not in attendance, but a young woman in Redrain livery is orating what's happening, and when the fighting begins, she goes quite still, excited, hanging on every descriptive word. When it ends, she's among the first to erupt from her seat, nearly toppling her drink with her fervor.
"WELL DONE!" she calls, cheeks flushed. "Wonderful, very well done. Congratulations, Princess Sorrel of House Thrax."
Bahiya gestures again. "Lord Haakon Eswynd now fights Master Aksel Nygard. Gentleman, if you would take your places when the sands are cleared."
Monique inclines her crimson head to Corban. "No doubt you shall have it. But if you win, you know I'll claim it's mine that won it for you," she teases lightly. "You're welcome to join us at the table until your match, if you like." And she turns to applaud Sorrel's victory before moving back to the table and the whiskey.
Sabella tries to be somewhat less boring company then Duke Bisland. Sorry Keely said it! A few murmurs between the two but no laughter from Princess Sabella. Just occasionally drinking, now from the bottle.
Savio applauds for the announcement of Haakon's name, and leaves off assaulting Giorgio so that he can watch with keen attention.
Thea has left the ring of valor.
Keely beams as Deva joins her table, but introductions will have to wait! Her focus is pulled to the ring, and she lifts both hands to applaud with a vague smile. She has no idea what is going on.
Pasquale murmurs "All things are possible." in response to Mailys' comment. A few moments later he adds an "Excuse me." and starts threading his way towards the exit.
Alberico, the Malespero aide, Louis, a Malespero Armsman, Mar, the Magpie leave, following Pasquale.
Wash returns Ian's nod and gestures to the ring. "You are fighting tonight, right?"
Tesha gives a look to Corban from where she's seated as Monique offers the pendant over. She then looks back to all of the people that have suddenly appeared where she was seated. Oh dear.
Thea wipes the sweat from her brow, and makes her way through the aisles. She gives a brief smile to Drake she steps toward Medeia for a moment. "Congratulations on that baby."
Sorrel pauses when she needs to find herself somewhere to sit, and she waves to Corban and Monique before blowing a kiss to Alis and then sitting nearby Sabella. Too many old friends here. Gotta socialize everywhere. Gotta start somewhere.
Sorrel has joined the ringside table.
Arman strides into the room, his cane leading the way with a gentle taptaptap. Clearly an accessory more than an ambulatory aid. His gaze sweeps over the room before he spots a particular Prince and a beautiful young woman on his arm. Arman approaches Patrizio and Valencia offering the former a gracious dip of the head, "Prince Patrizio," His gaze then moves to look to Valencia offering her a tight almost apologetic smile, "Dearest Valencia."
Raven blinnk-blink-blinks and points at Wash as if to go: Hey! it's THAT guy!. She flicks a look towards Ian and her eyebrows lift as she studies the pickled swordman, "Well. Tonight's not gonna be dull."
Alis whistles for Sorrel when her protege scores a win, "Well done!" is called to both women after their bout. And then, it seems, she prepares to make her way back out. She's done what she came to do!
Alis has left the raised seating.
Sir Rhys, a Valardin Knight, Laurene, a military adjutant, 10 Valardin Knights leave, following Alis.
Michael was paying attention to the fight, certainly, and it may even be his applause that prompts Keely to applaud as well. He'll nudge her elbow with his own and yammer into her ear for a moment.
Monique leans in to offer something quiet to Sorrel as she passes, her smile congratulatory.
Sabella manages to give Sorrel a sweet pat along her forearm and congratulates her.
"If the first match is any indication, your event shall be once again the highlight of the season," Valencia nods warmly, a warm nod for Ian and a sincerely surprised and equally delight look as Wash and then Porter arrive. She waves, though it is unlikely they would see it, but she does so with delight. To Michael there is a warm incline of head and a smile for Lady Media as she seems to be seeking someone. Thea, too gets a smile as does Raven and Deva. "Welcome. Welcome! It is wonderful to see you," she offers sincerely before turning to nod to Prince Patrizio. "I love to see people so happy in the name of charity. I must sound so silly."
Drake nods to Medeia, seconding what Thea said but at the same time, well, he always likes to watch a fight.
Haakon gives a shout of acclaim to the first duelists, and draws on his helm when his own name is called, taking sword and shield in hand, before looking about for his opponent. "...fuck," he mumbles when it seems his alotted foe isn't present
Haakon wields old-fashioned broadsword.
"You hardly sound silly. It's a beautiful thing to have people be happy in the spirit of giving, and to delight therein," Patrizio counters to Valencia, and seems about to say something further, when Arman's approaching and... there's a respectful dip of his head. "Your highness," he says, more seriously. "Be welcome, on this evening. I'd not expected to see you." His gaze, briefly, shifts to the ring while the next bout is being arranged, and then to Bahiya as if to see if there's need for him to come assist in those moments, but comes back presently enough to those closest by.
Rocco, the rascally assistant, Finn the large Northern hunting dog with icy blue eyes, Strawberry Pupcake, the Graypeak Mountain Dog leave, following Thea.
Valencia checks composure at hard. Critical Success! Valencia is spectacularly successful.
Ian steers Wash back to the table, and is surprised to find Porter already there. He switches seats in such a way that Kennex brothers and adopted brother can all be sitting in one three person line of Kennexes.
Wash has joined the ringside table.
Wash has left the ringside table.
Wash has joined the ringside great table.
This place is incredibly crowded and Porter almost doesn't make it in the doorway. He definitely misses the entirety of that first match and he seems like he's about to do a quick step and exit this place entirely as a faint look of concern crosses his face. But he stops himself and scans some of the tables until he spots Ian and Wash. He looks around at the crowds again and then moves through them, politely moving a person with his hands, and then taking up that seat near Ian.
Oriana has left the raised seating.
Nox, a kitten black as pitch with star-dappled fur leaves, following Oriana.
A messenger comes through the crowd, same as before, halting at Bahiya's side and whispering frantically in her ear. "Ah," she says, moving to stand.
"Friends! I am told Master Aksel is unable to attend, but we are quite fortunate! Princess Deva Redrain has offered to take his place against Lord Haakon." She smiles in the Arena's general direction. "Princess Deva, Lord Haakon. Take your places, please."
Mailys settles back down into her new chair besides Giorgio at the larger table invaded by their group moments before. Smoking and keeping an eye on the ringside groups, she also takes interest in the unknown faces at her table in turn but remains quiet as the action stirs ringside.
Keely speaks softly with Michael between bouts, lifting her glass for small sips here and there. When Deva's name is called, her face lights up a bit, and she sets her drink aside to applaud merrily. Her delight seems in conflict with a mild discomfort that lingers over her, and she casts frequent glances Sabella's way even whilst conversing.
Tesha gives a smile as folks settle in at the table and there is a dip of her head in greeting to those that she knows and that she doesn't know.

Haakon nods once as Deva is announced, helmed head tilting to a slight angle in scrutiny of the Redrain royal as she stands to face him
Sabella has left the ringside table.
6 Grayson House Guards, Maureen, an unflappable nanny, Clark, an exasperated guard leave, following Sabella.
"Watch this for me?" Deva requests of Keely with a hopeful smile, wiggling what's left of her whiskey around before resting it on the table. Then she hops up and reaches for her staff, tossing it between her palms as she strides her way to the arena. "Thanks Ambassador Bahiya! Lord Haakon, I look forward to learning some things today!" She approaches with a casualness to her steps and expression, and takes a moment to tighten her ponytail which only makes it messier. Her shoulders bounce in a shrug. Then she takes a readying stance, bending at the knees and rolling her neck from side to side in some last ditch effort to loosen up because she didn't stretch. And then, all of a sudden, she -fights-! She goes from chill to fierce in the blink of an eye, and her weapon management and speed is respectable. But it seems that she puts too much energy into the beginning, because her stamina sprint runs out and she leaves herself too open in her recklessness. But she's smiling in the end, breathless in defeat, and bows her head to Haakon in respect.
Arman is quickly spied. How could he not be noticed? The elder Velenosan prince and statesman always cuts a fine figure in any situation. Pausing from speaking with the Prince of Pravus, Valencia offers her uncle a graceful and respectful incline of head and then curtsies politely as he greets the. "Highness," she offers, her smile warm and gentle. "Please be so very welcome to my Hart. It is wonderful to see you join the merriment. Your presence brings such delight to many, I am sure. May I introduce the Prince Patrizio of Pravus," she warmly introduces before tuning to Patrizio in turn. "Highness, may I introduce you to the Prince Arman of Velenosa. Please, allow me to see drinks to you. One cannot possibly enjoy such an event without an excellent libation, yes?" she asks looking between the two.
Taking her duties Very Seriously, Keely shifts her posture forward a bit, guarding Deva's whiskey like a small dragon, her attention shifting only to quietly cheer on the fighting while avoiding actually watching it.
Haakon nods once as Deva is announced, helmed head tilting to a slight angle in scrutiny of the Redrain royal as she stands to face him. Broadsword raised vertically in salute before being rapped twice against the iron rim of his round shield. The reaver has often been noted at arms for his own aggression, and at first the match is fast a d furious, with Deva managing a small but clear lead in the early going. It's only when Haakon manages to pin Deva's larger weapon with a press of his shield that the prodigal lord manages to land a telling blow to end the match. "Well.. fucking fought," he growls to the princess in crass congratulation.
Terese applads the next set of fighters. "Well done," she cheers. She excitedly waits to see who is next up.
Medeia applauds politely - with perhaps a touch more oomph - when Haakon wins.
Another amazing fight! Bahiya is beside herself, listening to the oration from her quietly speaking aid. She's on her feet, applauding with the crowd.
"Well fucking-fought indeed!" says the Eurusi ambassador, likely unknowing; Arvani isn't her mother-tongue after all. The aid at her side tries very hard not to smile, covering her own mouth, eyes sparkling. "Congratulations Lord Haakon! Next, we have Master Caspian Wild verses Lord Savio Amadeo! Gentlemen, when you are ready and the sands are cleared, please take your places.
Raven lifts her bottle in salute to Deva "Well fought Princess Deva!"
Caspian bangs the table with a smile, "Shall we dance Lord Savio? i would consider it an honor!"
Caspian has left the ringside great table.
Caspian has joined the ring of valor.
Savio says, "Darling, I thought you'd never ask."
Savio has left the ringside great table.
Savio has joined the ring of valor.
There's something very sudden about the way Deva's face lights up as she laughs, looking between Haakon and Bahiya. "Thank you," she grins, giving her opponent a friendly elbow-bump as she excuses herself from teh arena to retake her seat and the whiskey Keely has so diligently been guarding. "Thank you."
Monique cheers for Haakon's win and even louder when Caspian and Savio are announced. "This is going to be a thing of beauty," the Minx says to the table at large. "Bets?"
Raven rises and squeeees! She fails her arms and waves her rum, "Go get 'im my lord Savio!!"
Corban applauds for Lord Haakon when he prevails in the ring against Princess Deva. He nods his head thoughtfully at the close fight, and then pivots his head to see the next fight. Almost up! Almost.
Valencia is overheard praising Sorrel: Elegant in movement and grace. An excellent fight indeed.
Despite having previously looked very much like someone who was Very Determined to drink, and sure maybe there's fighting, but mostly there's whiskey, Ian can't help it. Savio and Caspian getting in the ring together is enough that his interest is piqued, in spite of himself.

Ah yes, finally! The Precious Whisper high in the rafters glances up from the writing desk once Savio has been announced, paying rapt attention and showing him with cheers and catcalls from highest points of the arena. She calls down to him in their native tongue, sounding quite amused.
Valencia is overheard praising Thea: Always a thrill to watch upon the sand. Lycenes are some of the fieriest of fighters.
Caspian checks dexterity and small wpn at hard. Caspian fails.

Arman holds his smile as he looks between Valencia and Patrizio, a smile that slowly fades the longer Valencia speaks. He looks to Patrizio and says cooly, "Prince Patrizio and I are well aquainted." A gentle wrinkle of his nose, "As you well know." His jaw shifts thoughtfully at the offer of drinks and he gives a polite of the hand to decline, "It is a very busy night and for a good cause, you both have much to attend to and I will not distract from it. Lovely to see you both." A dip of the head to both and the elder Prince turns to find a place to watch the bouts.
Valencia is overheard praising Deva: Redrain fire in the ring is always so exciting to watch.
Maharet says in Arakkoan, "Take no losses. Nor bruises! Or I shall sew all your pant legs closed when you sleep!"
"His highness and I are acquainted, though indeed, one ought never assume and I appreciate the assurance," Patrizio says with a warm, genuine smile when Valencia's presenting him to Arman and vice versa. "We've actually had drinks, a while back, at the Velenosian estate. But...if both of your highnesses will excuse me for a moment, as I ought make myself known to some of those others who are here for the event..." He offers the sketch of a bow, even as there's the faintly weary expression of one who's not /quite/ comfortable with being the face of a thing, and yet there he is, as he moves off for a few moments, drawing over to Drake. "Your wife made a valiant effort, my lord," he offers. "She deserves much honour for her standing against the princess out there as she did."
Sorrel is watching the fights with interest, having gotten herself some sort of alcoholic beverage to enjoy while she relaxes between rounds. She looks thoughtfully at the crowd.
Raven checks 'recovery check' at normal. Raven is successful.
Valencia is overheard praising Haakon: A formidable force of nature in a fight. Never disappoints.
3 Last Watch Sentries, 2 Redrain Guards, Old Nan, a mostly harmless old woman arrive, following Donella.
Drake looks at Patrizio, and nods to him as he speaks up. "She did. I always appreciate watching her in action. We met the first time at a tournament, though, not quite like this one." He laughs a little at it. Then he looks back for a moment to watch the interchange between the two fighters out in the field. "By the way. Champions messages are of course nothing personal between you or I. I am after all just the messenger."
Deva fingerwiggles at Valencia with a big smile on her way back to the table nearby Keely. "You missed me losing, sis!" she tells Donella very abruptly.
Caspian strides onto the sand with a massive grin, drawing forth two daggers and offering salute to the Lord and a flourishing bow. "I'd quite like you to know that i consider the sound beating i am about receive and excellent learning moment!" he laughed and settled in, waiting for the signal to start. When the sign was given, he lept forward, eager to enter the fray and start the dance. his eagerness was met with a deft display of mastery that left him staggering back and hasping for air. not to be outdone, Caspian coiled up and vaulted forward, twisting and spiraling in the air to unleash a flurry of blows himself. The two churned the sands into a frenzy, but another misstep left him open to a punishing blow and it was with pained but well meaining laugh that Caspian yielded to the better fighter this night!
Keely perks up as she spies Donella's entry, lifting a little wave to summon her to the table before realizing Deva has done the same.
Arman has joined the upper rafters.
Raven turns her head say something at the table before she returns to cheering and waving her bottle like it's the Blackheart Banner in encouragement to cheer Savio on!
Savio has an unapologetic flair for the dramatic, and upon stepping out to the sands, raises both hands to invite those who are gathered,
"Sharp and deadly, eyes a-twinkle
And for the ladies, maybe single?
Renowned for legendary style
Make some noise for CASPIAN WILD!
Can't tell you who'll win this show
But this I ABSOLUTELY know
Don't just sit there tender and mild,
Make some damn noise for CASPIAN WILD!"
He tilts a broad grin toward his opponent, then bows to him and draws his weapon. He hasn't done a lot of rapier fighting lately, but tonight it has returned for this event. It's a good show and a fast fight; if one man slips up the other will be quick to press the advantage, and both of them are spectacularly successful in their maneuvers at various points in the fight. Ultimately the scales tip for Savio, only just slightly, and at the end he bows in acknowledgement of the match. "Damn good fight, Caspian, find me again anytime and you'll own the rematch -- I'm sure of it."
The match took her attention quickly as Savio's voice rang out to herald the start of the round. Cheers for both Caspian and Savio rang out in timing of each attack. Her expression followed the match's outcome, and she took a drink after Savio appearing to have won the match. Giorgio gets a knowing 'see it worked' look before she whispers something to him. But the Porter Kennex and that one lord Ian who keeps the cycle of threes going grab her attention at the table. "I wouldn't mind a double to do my tedious work. What would The Other Porter Kennex do?" A strange conversation pierces through to nearby tables.
Savio has left the ring of valor.
Caspian laughs with a broad smile, "I look forward to it! I'll be singing the praise of your blade and sporting the bruises for some time!" he spins to the corwd, "For lord Savio!" he claps and strolls off the sand
Caspian has left the ring of valor.
Caspian has joined the corner table.
Donella calls back with a slight smile as she approaches the table, "Apoloies, Deva. I could let you beat me up and you can say you won?" she inclines her head to Keely politely, and claps for Caspian and Savio as she sits.
Caspian has left the corner table.
Caspian has joined the ringside great table.
Donella has joined the ringside table.
Mailys is overheard praising Savio.
"No, I'll just beat up Darren instead," Deva beams, rising to squish Donella in a quick hug before settling back into her chair.
Wash pries his mug away from his hands long enough to properly applaud. "Well fought! Well fought."
Patrizio beaming when Drake says that, and his hand briefly alights on the man's shoulder as he's shaking his head. "I didn't take it as personal umbrage in your becoming the messenger. It /is/ the nature of things, and as a Champion myself, I do get it. But... for now, we're not opponents, but allies in the name of a good cause. So let us not fret about matters that are before us." There's a twinkle to his eyes as he's pronouncing this.
So far, the most exciting fight in either tournament! Twists! Spirals! Is that poetry or music? Or both? It's a flushed Ambassador that stands at the end, applauding, her grin bright.
"Amazing! -AMAZING-! What sportsmanship! Congratulations, Lord Savio of House Amadeo! Please, Sir Corban Telmar, Lady Xanthe Igniseri! Take your places when the sands are clear."
Terese cheers for Caspian and Lord Savio. She is excitedly watching the event, watching every technique used
Haakon watches the match between Savio and Caspian with interest but without surprise. When Savio prevails, the reaver rumbles in passing, "Fine fight. No idiocy. Who are you a d what have you done with the real Savio?"
Maharet is overheard praising Savio: You may keep your pant legs unsewn! Bravo!
Savio is overheard praising Caspian: All the rumors are true, damn good fighter.
Savio looks askance at Haakon, mock affronted. "What do you mean no idiocy?! I sang a whole song and everything."
And then his name is called! Sir Corban hops to his feet from where he is seated near the sands and comes out to the arena, drawing his alaricite sword from his sheathe. Raising it parallel to the sky, he salutes Lady Xanthe, welcoming her as a worthy foe. And then they fight.
Drake tosses a nod to Patrizio, half-smiling as he's in full agreement. The next winners are then announced. "Ah, spectatular bout." He hadn't seen Caspian in action in a while.
Savio has joined the ringside great table.
Tesha has left the ringside great table.
"Your pardon. It's been some time and I am clearly not remembering our last introductions. Please forgive me," Valencia notes with sincere apology. "And it is hardly a distraction, uncle. But you should know this," she chides gently. "I am glad that you came to support the Ambassador and Prince Kenjay and Prince Patrizio's efforts here tonight. Thank you for this. Please know that you are welcome, sir. Tonight and any day," Valencia offers back earnestly with a bow of her head, the polite but formal tone slipping softly. "Please, I do not not wish to keep you from enjoying such splendor and examples of the finest of martial arts. But should you need anything, ask and if it is my power to give, it is yours," she adds in parting as Arman turns his attention away again.
Raven laughs at Savio's indignation that someone accused him of taking something seriously.
Tesha rises from the table after excusing herself. She accepts the missive from her guard and waves him off for a moment so she can at least watch her cousin fight before leaving.

Monique looks up from the table as the next match is called, the redhead cheering on both combatants and settling in for an exciting bout.
Valencia is overheard praising Caspian: Always an excellent example of Arx's best showmanship and sportsmanship alike. Honoured to see this Champion return to the Hart to dance upon the sands.
Another smile to Drake, and then Patrizio's making his way over towards Haakon and Medeia, as he sketches a bow to each in turn. "My lord, an excellent bout. And, indeed, congratulations to you both - may your latest daughter bring you both all the joy that she can, and may she make you and yours proud."
The silent and not the most approachable Xanthe does glance up when her turn is announced. Her choice of weapon makes her smaller frame seem even smaller but she wields it well. She is good with it. It might not seem flashy but Xanthe is a Champion so the way she handles her weapon has a subtle flare to it. She might not smile and glitter but she does put on a show.
Sir Corban Telmar does not start off particularly strong, particularly in the face of the utter consistency of Lady Xanthe. His blade swings wide and he is put onto his back foot in the face of her assault, bringing his shield up to block. But he quickly gathers himself up and rallies, matching her blow for blow. Towards the end of the bout, he presses the attack, landing a strong blow against her chest, sending Xanthe staggering, before the fight is called. When the winner is announced, Corban bows his head to Xanthe. "Well done, my lady. A worthy challenger, and a substitute. Such incredible consistency with the blade!"
Caspian is overheard praising Savio: A true warrior! his sword sings as well as he does!
"Well fought." Tesha gives a smile as Corban is called as the winner. Then she has to skitter along her way given numbers don't add themselves!
A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Keely before departing.
Tesha is overheard praising Bahiya.
Tesha is overheard praising Patrizio.
Giorgio has left the ringside great table.
2 Telmarine Guards, Cale, the Highhill War Hound pup, Atramentous, The Highhill War Hound leave, following Tesha.
"Wonderful, wonderful!" Bahiya says, radiant. "Sir Corban, congratulations! And everyone ... that is the end of the first round! Princess Sorrel, Lord Haakon: after a brief respite, take to the sands and prepare for the next round!"
Valencia is overheard praising Xanthe: Razor focus and sharp elegance. Dangerous things come in small but lovely packages.
"Well good luck to you both," Drake says, sitting back now to watch this bout in action.
Bahiya is overheard praising Sorrel.

Haakon dips his head to Patrizio, "Kind words. My thanks," he notes briefly before being called back onto the sands.
Medeia gives Patrizio a bow of her head. "Thank you, Your Highness." Then she's bidding Haakon well in his next bout.
Valencia is overheard praising Corban: His talent is bold and remarkable, true. But his grace and honour as a combatant is sublime.
Keely lifts her eyes as Sorrel departs the table they share, lifting her hands in applause shortly after finishing her applause for Corban's victory.

Patrizio makes sure to get out of the way when Haakon's moving to face the next bout, and he's grinning to himself, watching for a moment before making his way closer to the ringside tables, with a dip of his head to the familiar faces there - nearly all of them, for once - before there's a low murmur to Caspian and Savio. "Quite a bout out there. I think both of you gave a better go of it than in my first match at the last of these events."
Savio smiles to Patrizio, and manages to dip his head respectfully after he's recovered from some nonsense that Monique is disabling him with, at their table. "Thank you for your kind words, your Highness."
Raven lifts her bottle and salutes then co-host Patrizio approvingly before leaning back and drinking deep.
Sorrel had her best performance earlier in the night, though she's perfectly happy to fight again. Her style is slightly more aggressive but perhaps a little too artistic to be fighting someone with Haakon's style, and she is not as familiar with his usual moves as she is some of the others. Still, she makes some nice moves and some missteps.
Haakon repeats his unhurried walk onto the sands, the upraised sword in salute to Sorrel, and the double rap of sword edge on shield rim at the outset. As before, the reaver uses his shield very aggressively; unlike the typically reactive method of shield use favored by many Arvani, the prodigal uses the shield more like a slowly eroding weapon for deflecting, pressing, and pinning his opponent's blade in a less advantageous position, before at last- after another close fought, back and forth match- Haakon is able to connect with a heavy blow, brute force only narrowly managing to edge out artistry.
Valencia is overheard praising Arman: Epitome of elegance, always. Honoured to have him in attendance at my Hart once more.
Can a woman smile any harder? Or applaud any more? Bahiya seems to be up to the challenge, breathless and delighted. "Congratulations, Lord Haakon! Please, Lord Savio, Sir Corban: take to the sands when you are ready."
Savio grins at his table mates, and gets up to join the sands!
Savio has left the ringside great table.
Savio has joined the ring of valor.
Raven says, "Go Lord Savio! Let your sword be the witty one on this one!"
A warm smile to Savio. "You do realize that as far as I reckon, if you can get past this next round, you'd be the Pravusi to be furthest in this matter. So it becomes a matter of face for our fealty. That said..." A soft sound from him again. "Be careful out there." He glances to Raven with her salute and grins, though he's holding but a glass for the moment and not a bottle himself as he's helping with the hosting.
Ian has filled his glass and adopted a VERY pointed air about drinking from it, for some reason.
And now it is time for Corban to head back out to the sands! Stepping out into the arena, he draws his blade once more and salutes Lord Savio across from him, the glinting silver metal parallel to the sky. Yes, everyone gets the same salute. But this is how it is done.

Maharet says in Arakkoan, "You are wearing skirts for a week, Savio!"
Valencia is overheard praising Kenjay: Brave and generous hearted. Grateful to see such a man who cares for those in need.
Medeia continues to watch the fights, seeming proud of Haakon for his second win. The match between Savio and Corban has her tense, moving to literally sit close to the edge of her seat as she watches the pair and awaits the result of the fight.
Savio returns to the sand, and you know he wouldn't be doing it without Entertainment:
"You saw what he's already shown
Captain Corban of the King's own!
Now I'm told of a pre-existing song
And all I can do is follow along:
Say it again! Who's that man among men?
And we'll say it once more! Who's that hero next store?
Who's that super success, don't you know can't you guess?
Ask his fans and his five hangers on.... There's just one guy in town who's got all of it DOWWWWWWWWWN.
And his name's C-O-R... C-O-R-B... C-O-R-B-A.....CORBANNN...!"
He is totally inviting everyone to sing along. This is a well known tune. And it is BACK the song is BACK. But then of course it IS time to fight. Savio grins broadly and sets to it once Corban is ready... it's a strong and well-fought match, but ultimately the greater skill belongs to Corban, and Savio steps back to bow to him! "Well fought, and well earned!"
Savio also laughs and yells something back at Maharet in Arakkoan!
Valencia is overheard praising Bahiya: Truly an accomplished and most lovely hostess and true and wonderful star of charity in our city. Thank you for bringing such fine things to our city and the Hart.
Caspian joins in the song, singing loudly and proudly from the side as he cheers Savio on!
Terese is focused intently on all the matches applading when approriate with cheers. She otherwise just watches excitedly
Savio says in Arakkoan, "You say that like I don't do that anyway!"
Haakon peers at Savio's efforts at cried participation, shaking his head slowly.
Raven's head tilts back and gales of laughter shake her in peels of honeyed-alto mirth, her frame quaking and her face turning flush.
Donella asks as she drinks a watered beer, "Do they always sing about themselves, or is that a novelty?"
Monique is wiping the tears from her eyes as she stands with *most* of the rest of her table, joining in Savio's refrain and looking for all the world like she's the happiest woman on the planet and she definitely didn't just teach them that long-forgotten song.
Laughing from the highest point of the arena, Maharet plucks a flower from her hair and throws it down to Savio for his performance, apparently unable to argue with his logic.
Valencia is overheard praising Patrizio: A gallant and noble champion of charity, honour and those in need. Grateful for his immeasurable kindness, generosity and prowess.
Savio has left the ring of valor.
This is, in many ways, a closer fight than Corban and Xanthe before it. For whereas Xanthe had her incredible consistency and Corban had his one lucky strike, the two of them ... oh that blasted song again. Shooting a look over to the stands at //someone//, the presence of //that song// that throws Corban off for just a moment seems to focus him at the final moment as he lands a strike on Savio that pulls him across the line to victory. But despite himself, he smiles, offering his hand to the other fellow. "Well fought, Lord Savio. And well sung. You should go see Herald Steve at the Valardin Manor and harmonize together."
Monique is overheard praising Savio: IT's back
Ian apparently was using the drinking as a means of avoiding having to sing, but by the end of it, he couldn't have joined in if he'd wanted to, because he's laughing hard enough that it's reduced him to a silent shaking of shoulders.
Mailys erupts with laughter again, as she had amid singing at their table before this last round. Savio's voice rings out and she joins in with the last repetitions of Sir Corban's name. Had they already been singing this at the table earlier? It seems a possibility now with the Corsetina joining in on a song she didn't previously know.
Donella is overheard praising Maharet: That was very courtly.
Monique is overheard praising Corban: Herald Steve will be thrilled.
Mailys is overheard praising Monique.
Raven is overheard praising Savio: Only gods know how many and how sorely those gathered here needed a laugh today
"C-o-R-B-O...A-N..Corbaaan!" Wash tries to pitch in helpfully.
MORE POETRY. Bahiya is going to be hoarse with all her cheering. "Sir Corban! Lord Haakon! The final fight of the night, to determine who will fight for the title of Tournament Champion, and who will place third to worthy praise and prize. Please, take your places!"
Savio has revived an ancient and worthy song from the distant past, a relic to grace the streets of Arx once more, and win or lose, he looks DELIGHTED.
Savio has joined the ringside great table.
Patrizio may not be one for singing, but the encouragement to merriment in all does spread the smile on the prince's face as he's making his way back along the arena. That attention of his does come back to the fighters again and again, while the bout is being waged, and he brings himself to a halt closer to where Bahiya's calling the matches, pausing there for a few moments as if to check for himself that she's being attended to, though he's relatively quiet when she's calling the match. And then more quietly, "Do you need anything, Your Excellency, while the outcome is awaited?"
Bahiya adds, "Archlector Porter Kennex will face the non-winner of this bout, as he is also contending for third place."

The calls and cheers, the gentle jests and roars of approval that fill the arena from sand to ceiling, bring a bright smile to Valencia's lips. Drawn back to watch the event ever-unfold, there is a warm serenity in the little vixen's observation, as though all is suddenly right with the world, her expression seeming to reflect a fond and deep affection for all who are present today.
Corban stops off to the side of the arena only to take a ladle of water from the attendant there. After all, no reason to leave the sands when he is in the next fight. He then returns to his place in the arena, nodding his head to Lord Haakon. His sword is drawn. The salute is given. They are off.
As it turns out, however, being put into back-to-back fights is difficult for even the First Captain. He stumbles forward towards Haakon, putting him off balance, and it makes it so he is never quite able to get his swing. Sure, he manages beyond the first strike, but he never quite manages to find his footing against his opponent after.
Savio is maybe tipsy and is definitely an idiot, but his cheering for Haakon at the next fight is SINCERE and LOUD!
Keely is overheard praising Bahiya: Such spectacular organizing of so many moving parts! I shall have to take notes for future events.
Mailys applauds Caspian's turn to sing for the table of very intoxicated people, and the fighters!
Wash, realizing that it is all over, and uncertain both of the result and how it was reached, he applauds with a little hesitation. Haakon?" He asks. "Congratulations Lord Esqynd!"

Haakon's shoulders are visibly rising and falling with deep breaths as he sets back out onto the sands to face the exalted knight. Salute, shield rap, and indeed: they are off. Both warriors are visibly wearied, the sword blows falling both slower and harder as Haakon begins to audibly shout with each thrown blow; veteran duelists will recognize it as a mechanism to force an exhale and thus remember to breath deep. It is a hard fight, and his shoulders are heaving with audible breaths by the time Corban is defeated in a match as much of endurance and luck as skill. "Fine match," he grunts to the knight. "Could you not have fallen over sooner?" is asked deadpan.
It's a hard fight, that much is clear, Bahiya holding her breath as she listens to the clash of metal and body, the events described by her aid. When the fight is called and the winner is made known, again she erupts to her feet and this time her wine does go flying.
"Lord Haakon! Stunning! Amazing! Sir Corban! Fantastic!" she calls, beaming. "Sir Corban, in the championships final, you will face Archlector Porter Kennex for the position of runner-up. Lord Haakon! You will have the honor of facing Lord Ian Kennex, for the title of Champion Supreme! Please, let me show you what prize the runner-up, second place, and Champion will receive."
She pulls from a wooden box on the prize table, a beautiful, amazingly crafted blade.
Patrizio is overheard praising Bahiya: A wonderful thought for raising funds for those far more needy. Let our blades more often be put to use in such a manner, for the common good rather than for defence.
