Comments and Log

Robyn, an artful archeress, 2 House Velenosa Guards arrive, following Ophelia.

Nunia the discreetest handmaid arrives, following Fiora.

Reedy, a King's Own aide arrives, following Corban.

It's the day of the Clearlake Archery Tourney that the House has enjoyed hosting previously. It would appear that the Baroness is going to make it a yearly thing. The grounds are a new addition to Clearlake Lodge and accessed via the Great Hall. Acantha had worked hard to get this place set up by their next round of events.

And now it's ready for all to enjoy!

The Baroness is off to the side as people enter, greeting everyone warmly as they come in with a bright smile. The long length of seasilk that is draped over her shoulder drifts in the cool breeze as she stands there.

Next to her is a map case that she's opened the top of, "If everyone would take a necklace from the map case before they depart this evening. They are little tokens of House Clearlake's appreciation." she states with a smile.

And of course Benny is at her side and checking out things. Making sure nothing is afoot.

Quintin gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Amari gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Ophelia gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

While not an archer of any repute, or even an archer at all, Gwenna enters the grounds to come support House Clearlake's archery endeavor despite that. Admiring the grounds as she passes farther in and toward where the event will be taking place, she offers a cheerfuly wave to Baroness before finding herself a place to sit.

Pharamond makes his way in, in good spirits so soon after the auction the other day, and so he's in good spirits as he picks up a necklace. He has a bow...which is a rarity for the House Sword but sometimes you need to branch out. It even appears to be worn across his back and strugn properly! Of course...no one says he did that part himself.

Quintin has come to watch the tournament. A quick smile and a nod for their host, Acantha. He brought apples, even! Finding a place to sit, he settles in and pulls out one of those apples, which he shines on his shirt, and then a knife.

Petal gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Gwenna is overheard praising Acantha: Clearlake Archery Tourney! And lovely gifts too!

Arcadia comes in, clearly excited. Her crossbow across her back. She smiles at Acantha as she collects a necklace and slips it around her neck. "Thank you for hosting Baroness." Then she hurries to the archery range, to stretch and prepare.

Arcadia has joined the archery grounds.

Samithel gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Amari strolls in, dogs and guards in tow, peculiar bow in hand but not yet strung. Upon hearing Acantha's welcome she gives a polite bow of her head and smile to the tournament's host. Then she catches sight of some Ashfords. Pharamond is waved to, but it's Quintin she approaches and sits beside with a soft clunk of rubicund plate. She looks at the apple he's shining, but says nothing.

Amari has joined the by the midnight black cala lily.

Cillian takes Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Merek makes his way to the archery tournament with his cloak adjusted about him, his diamondplate bow in hand while he looks for the place to settle in, picking up one of those necklaces as well also.

Crisp and cold. Not the breeze, but a woman who enters in with it. Icy gaze surveying the festival grounds, Fiora Malvici heads directly to the archery grounds with her bow slung over her shoulder. Quiver swaying on her hip with every step, she reaches out with her free hand to hold it still. Looking amongst those gathered, she starts greeting people and participating in small talk with a warm smile.

Just kidding. Fiora directly heads over to the archery grounds and moves to take her spot, not really giving a second glance to much of anyone.

Cillian wields high quality vine bow of the wilds.

Pharamond has joined the archery grounds.

Quintin raises his arm to wave over at Pharamond. With his apple hand, not his knife hand, because that's how people lose eyeballs. Not today, thank you. Not from a knife, anyway. This is an archery contest. He pares off a slice of apple and offers it to Amari. "Not competing?"

Princess Ophelia Velenosa arrives dressed in her cornflower blue silks with a matching archery bracer upon her right forearm. A bow is held in her left hand while a leather quiver of arrows rests at her hip. She smiles as she enters the immediate area and lifts her free hand to tuck some strays wisps of blonde hair that have escaped her braided chignon before nodding respectfully to Baroness Acantha. The Fox Princess is here to compete and spends a moment next to Sir Corban, her escort for the event. She then leans close to murmur something to the First Captain.

Cillian comes walking into the grounds looking around dressed in his leathers except for his shirt it is a white silk, he holds hands with petal who is walking with him he leans down to whisper something in her ear and smiles.

Pharamond makes his way towards the fields but smiles warmly to Amari, and gives a 'head nod' over to Quintin before grinning. "Listen up," he says. "I have come to win last place. Should any of you impede upon my quest...we may have to have words. And drinks. Many of those." The House Sword indeed is NOT the House Archer but it's worth trying to see how he does, clearly anticipating being a good sport and likely making the scrolls as an 'also ran' and not much better.

Arcadia glances over to Pharamond, a moment of surprise of him with a bow. She smiles at him, with an arched eyebrow. "Good luck today Pharamond." She of course doesn't remind him of the last time he saw her shoot. Doesn't need to psych him out yet.

Keski, a nervous disciple of Petrichor, Aletta, an even more nervous disciple of Petrichor, 1 Templar Knight guards, Oswald, the war pig, a lively Ostrian gelding arrive, following Brigida.

Petal arrives while adorned in her simple common clothing and while carrying her sewing basket. She is close to Cillian and murmurs something softly to him.

Sandor, the Tree Scout Captain, Nibbles, the Ashford Tree Squirrel arrive, following Rhiannon.

Slooowly looking over to some of the more vocal participants, the Malvici lets out a soft sigh before Fiora is going to plop down on a nearby rock and string her bow.

Acantha gives a smile to those arriving, dipping her head respectfully to those that greeting her, "Welcome to Clearlake." she tells them with a smile. She was proud of her little place. There's a dip of her head to Arcadia, "Countess, nice to see you." she states. She gives a wave to Gwenna and a smile, "Your Highness." she dips her head. Then there's a smile to the Ophelia and Corban, "Your Highness, Sir Corban," she states with a smile. So many people! She tries to greet everyone.

Benny thumps his tail against the back of her legs and then there's a chuckle, "Refreshments are also out for whoever would like to partake." she tells them. "If you'd like to be in the tourney we'll start lining up for that in a moment." she states.

Corban is walking next to Ophelia, clanking in his armor as he moves with with the Velensoian princess to the archery contest. He has a bandage wrapped around his hand for some reason, but smiles at her. "You are going to win tonight. But even if not, I will cheer for your every arrow."

"Undecided." Amari replies as she shakes off a gauntlet to accept the slice of apple Quintin's offered. "It's either compete, or curl up here and have a nap." Pharamond's announcement provokes a gentle laugh, but that soon turns into a yawn she has to cover with the back of her hand. It would be rude not to. "Are you not?" The question is a little distractedly posed as she watches everyone else file in and sort themselves into competitors and spectators.

Pharamond winks to Arcadia. "Hey, you saw me light the door on fire," he offers. "With an arrow." Of course, it was an oversized door and it was not from far away but people needn't know details. "I will consider it a victory if my arrows do not hit anyone." He turns, and looks back playfully towards QUintin, as if his words were meant for his family member before he spies Rhiannon, and he head-tilts to Cady, "She is the one you have to watch out for. I'm just the decoy."

Gwenna's brow arch a touch at the mention of refreshment. "Baroness Acantha, you are truly an exceptional hostess," the Redrain says with a polite dip of her head before making her way to grab a bit of something to drink. "The turnout has certainly brought some big names," is remarked, perhaps as much to herself as to the Clearlake leader, as she returns to her seat to watch.

Merek nods a bit, while he moves to wait for the line to form, as he bows to Acantha as well, then he shifts his cloak about him, hood up, while he checks his bow also.

Samithel quietly trails in behind the diverse peoples--archers and non-archers, beast and man--offers a bow and a polite smile to the baroness, takes one of the welcome gifts andÂ…stops, looking around.

Uncertainly, she heads towards Amari, then turns and instead heads towards what might be--what she hopes are the thickest concentration of archery weapons.

Samithel works in silence, checking the heads and paints on her arrows, bowstring and extra bowstring, the bow itselfÂ…the uncertainty is no longer there, only the kind of hyperfocus indicative of extreme nervousness.

Quintin throws his hand up to wave over at Rhiannon. Ashford represent! Again, his apple hand. Not his knife hand.

Arcadia grins at Pharamond's words, but doesn't share his secret. She gives a wave to Rhiannon as she joins. Her back however straightens a little more in respect of the scout.

Samithel has joined the archery grounds.

Calypso arrives after the initial rush of people, not be design just by slight tardiness. She offers a bwo of her head in greetings to Acantha. "Baroness Clearlake. Thank you for having us all on this fine Spring day. I look forwards to the competition." She moves on further in, flanked by guards and an attendant, walking around the grounds a little bit, her eyes moving over the crowd.

Cillian nods his head to Petal, "Remind me to later go speak with Master Felix about perhaps getting another bow made so I can let you keep this one." he smiles.

Rhiannon steps into the grounds and she looks around and she nods to her family. She moves over to see them. "Hello family. It was not too long ago that I saw you."

Rhiannon gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Petal looks over to Cillian. "Oh, it is alright. I can barely use a bow anyways. you can keep if you want, Master Cillian." She says. She seem to be in a cheerful mood and she waves over to Arcadia.

Rhiannon has joined the archery grounds.

Arik arrives looking as he normally does. Questionably snug trousers, House sword on the hip, formidable beard hanging on the face, frosty grey eyes. The only thing out of place on the Halfshav Lord is a suspiciously fancy brocaded silk top. "Baroness Acantha." Arik rumbles as he passes the arrow necklaces himself and dips his head to the young woman. "It's nice to finally be in the city when one of your festives are going on. I would participate, but I don't want to embarass my family especially as almost all of them can actually fire a bow."

Ophelia has joined the archery grounds.

Brigida makes her way into the grounds, her old knotted staff leading her way, threatening to swipe the shins of anyone too slow or stubborn to get out the way. "Oh stop twittering like a nervous bird Aletta. Of course no one is going to shoot you by accident. It'll be on purpose if it happens." Her words to her disciple does not help the young woman at all as the Archlector waggles a hand, "Keski. Go get some drinks. Try not to get shot."

Finn the youthful northern boy, with icy blue eyes arrives, following Thea.

Icy gaze settling on Calypso, Fiora lifts up her chin in the most sublte of greetings. Her eyes flick towards several others before Fiora goes to stand amongst the targets, drawing an arrow from her quiver.

Amari waves to Samithel when she notices her there, joining the pack of archers.

Ophelia prepares to join the rest of the competitors, but will say a few quick prayers before she does. Once she is finished, she rises upon tiptoes to place a kiss upon Corban's cheek and then strides toward the others to take her place upon the archery grounds. She smiles at those flanking her and then waits for further instruction.

Acantha gives a soft smile when she sees so many familiar faces and so many new ones. When Calypso speaks to her there's a dip of her head to her, "Duchess Malvici, it is wonderful to see you. I hope you enjoy the competition." she tells her with a smile. Then there's a moment the Baroness steps back when Brigida is coming in, giving her room so that her shins aren't whacked. "Archlector." she dips her head to her. Then there's a look to Arik and a chuckle, "It's just luck." she tells him. "How have you been? Is Lord Mirk coming with his bow?" she asks him.

Cillian nods his head to Petal leaning in to kiss her cheek and looks up and over hearing Ariks voice he watches the man for a long moment then moves to head to stand where the other archers are.

Gwenna straightens her posture a little bit when the famed Archlector Brigida arrives. It might be that the princess is still a little nervous after that whole getting caught eating candy at Astraea's Godsworn Ceremony. Not terribly perceptible, perhaps, she takes a few more sips of her wine. The Baroness' words tug her attention. "Is Lord Mirk an archer? I don't think I was aware, though it seems fitting, actually."

"Stay here, Finn,"Thea tells her usually hyper pup. That said, she steps silently over to with the spectors, more as support for her family and possibly friend. Spotting the Duchess, she makes her way that way instead, nodding to Fiora briefly. Totally counts as good luck.

Corban kisses Ophelia back on the cheek and smiles, moving off to the side to cheer for her from the edge of the spectators.

"I think Mirk might be sleeping, he's been endlessly preparing for the rites at the Stone Grove to end the withering." Arik explains with a brief look in the direction of the stone grove and then back to Acantha and Gwenna who gets a dip of his head. "Princess Gwenna, it's been quite some time since we last spoke. Mirk is an archer impart so he gets stabbed less frequently. For someone who is meant to be diplomatic, he has a nasty tendency of being stabbed in the back." and while he seems serious there is a fleeting grin. "If he doesn't arrive in time, I will shoot in his place if you like Baroness though your own standing may be lowered. All the city will wonder why an up and coming Baroness associates with a sloppy shooting Halfshav Lord."

Merek has joined the archery grounds.

Cillian has joined the archery grounds.

Was that someone telling her to stop or move or do something? Oh, Amari--Samithel returns the wave, a nonverbal 'hello Amari'. The post-wave glance, affixed to a characteristically neutral expression, might instead be 'Hello Amari; what did I do to be here and what is happening'?

Arcadia glances around at her competition and begins to jig from foot to foot. Maybe getting a touch nervous.

Gwenna returns Arik's nod with one of her own. "I imagine Lord Mirk must, indeed, be quite exhausted. I know Drea has been there almost ceaselessly herself as well." Then the princess can hardly help but snort at the latter remarks. "I can certainly relate a touch to the dangers of diplomacy and sharp objects in one's back, my lord. In any case, it has been some time and it is good to see you. Good luck should you compete."

Arik has joined the archery grounds.

2 House Mazetti Aspirants, Sirra, a very quiet maid arrive, following Alessia.

Acantha gives a smile to Gwenna, "What Lord Arik said, he'd taken up archery and seems to be doing pretty well at it." she tells her. Then there's a look over towards the range as people start to gather. "I'll need to get over there." she smiles. Then she's hurrying to get over to the range, Benny waddles after her with a huff. So much running!

Alessia Mazetti slips into the festival grounds, taking a seat beside the spectators.

Alessia has joined the by the midnight black cala lily.

"I'm looking forward to it. Thank you again Baroness." Calypso offers Acantha another dip of her head and a small smile as she moves past to clear the way for other guests to get inside. The Duchess does not miss the stare adn the chin lift from Fiora either, making her way through the crowd in the direction of her cousin and Voice. "Good afternoon Fiora." She remarks drawing close enough in passing to exchange a greeting at least, then she's on, moving around, speaking with others, exchanging greetings. And maybe a small wager or two.

Arik gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Arcadia smiles to Arik, only her eyes show the hint of nervousness "Lord Arik. I will try my hardest, but there are many well reknown archers here today. I think I will be happy to not make a fool of myself."

Puff, a dainty yellow-green canary arrives, delivering a message to Brigida before departing.

Benny climbs up onto one of the posts as Acantha gives a wave to the archers, "Thank you all for coming out on this lovely day. I do enjoy so much that our tourney draws so many ompetitors." she smiles to them. "Our first shot will be coming up as soon as everyone is ready. If everyone will take their places, we'll get started." she states. There's a look to Arcadia, "Countess Stalhben you will do well I am sure of it." she smiles to her. Then she's back to making sure the line is ready.

Thea catches Quintin distantly and gives him a brief nod and smile in greeting. Her eyes flick their their way to Arcadia. Thea gives her nod as well, whether of good luck or greeting, no one really knows. With that, she goes back and speaks to others

Samithel wields a rubicund and darkwood longbow with oak leaf designs.

Samithel checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 24 higher.

Pharamond wields Autumns Grip, an oathlands styled archer's bow.

Cillian checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 23 higher.

Arik draws back a simple practice bow, nothing fancy in the curve of its design, nor the strength of its string. The Sword of Whitehold at least seems capable of holding it as he draws down on the targets firing off an arrow with a whistle. It hits the target... Kind of to the right... Center... It's the edge, he hit the edge but solidly!

"Remember to stand behind the people pointing and shooting. Hopefully none of them are incompetant enough to shoot behind them." Brigida's quiet words of advice to Aletta are anything but quiet.

Reedy, a King's Own aide have been dismissed.

Arcadia dips her head gratefully at those who offered kind words. She then readies herself. She lets her arrow fly through the air until it thunks! into the target.

Thea has joined the by the midnight black cala lily.

Merek lifts up his bow to take a shot, hitting the target, while he nods a bit as well.

Ophelia is pleased when her arrow hits the target and smiles brightly soon afterward. She straightens and then casts her gaze down the row of competitors before preparing herself for the next round.

Brigida has joined the by the midnight black cala lily.

Rhiannon checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 41 higher.

Rhiannon lifts up her longbow and walks out into the area. She looks at the targets across the field and she focuses. There is considerable noise around her, but the Tree Scout Commander doesn't look away. Her eyes are solely on the target and she lets the arrow go in her time, when she's ready.

Pharamond lines up his shot as well, looking as he whispers to the bow, "Come on bow...let me do Dame Ida proud..." he says with a grin as he looks to the target, and he holds the arrow and takes a breath before releasing and it thunks solidly into the target. The sound of the many being released is impressive enough. He starts to say, "Look at that, House Sword and Arc....nevermind." The nevermind coming as he looks down the line at Rhiannon's aimed shot.

Samithel draws and shoots with no fanfare. Her stone-headed arrow, shaft stained with a spiraling pattern of blue paint, finds perches in a target.

Cillian brings his bow up looking at Petal and then looking to watch Arik let his arrow lose watching he nods brings his bow up waits a moment then lets his arrow lose not moving til it hits its mark. He brings the bow down and breaths, "Good hits." he says in his thick Nothern accent.

Acantha checks to make sure that everyone has shot and there's a smile at how well everyone does. "Excellent. Next shoot is about to begin." she states as there are men that move the targets back a touch. Then they all clear out quickly so they don't get shot!

Gwenna watches the various competitors take their shots and, once the first round is complete, sets her wine glass down to clap. Her brows arch a little as the targets are shuffled back a bit, obviously making the next round a bit harder for all.

Merek checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 14 higher.

Fiora checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 21 higher.

Pharamond checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 7 higher.

Ophelia checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 120 higher. Ophelia rolled a critical!

Arik checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 4 lower.

Rhiannon checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 34 higher.

Samithel checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 13 higher.

Arcadia checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 26 higher.

Corban is overheard praising Ophelia.

Putting down her next arrow, Fiora lets out a quiet sigh. Lowering her bow, she goes to draw another arrow before looking over to Pharamond once more. "Would you like some advice? On your shooting. I mean."

Stefano, an inconspicuous Lycene bodyguard, Carmela, a gleaming dusken-feathered crow, Ambra, a plain-faced Lycene scribe arrive, following Mirella.

Calypso raises a quick cheer for Fiora every time she hits a target. She has to cheer for her cousin after all. She also cheers for PHaramond as well, happy to promote competition. She leans back in her seat that she's found, relaxing, sipping from a glass of... something while relaxing and watching.

Arcadia seems to relax with Pharamond's bantering, as she let's off her next arrow giving a pleased nod as it takes hit.

Arik after declaring something about gambling and picking Cillian, the Halfshav Lord readies his bow. Aims down the line and with all the patience of a true warrior... Fires immediately, with a grunt, going painfully wide of the target. The arrow doesn't even stick in the back wall or the ground. It just hits, rolls, and lays flat on the ground. Disappointingly non-lethal.

Mirella arrives, so quiet. Maybe nobody will notice her, despite the jewel-toned seasilk she's wearing. Her footsteps are light as she moves into an inconspicuous place to watch the action.

Mirella checked dexterity + stealth at difficulty 15, rolling 17 higher.

Merek lifts up his bow to take another clean shot, which does well enough, but he does seem to be matched easily by others also.

Cillian checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 18 higher.

Thea lifts her eyebrow as Fiora goes to offer advice. Well that's nice of her. And good sportsmanship--cheers! Thea smiles at her a bit and continues to watch while she continues to converse with those in nearby.

Pharamond looks back to Fiora and he asks, playfully, "Is it...don't?" His smile is in good cheer but he nods. "I usually use a much more up close and in person weapon so if you have advice, I'm not too proud to take it," he says to the Malvici as he aims and he manages to hit the target again. " Oh hey, that's two fo--...." his words trail off as he looks to Princess Velenosa's shot. "Huh..." he says, not having known that someone could actually hit that dot in the center. That's new to him.

Brigida squints at the targets that suddenly sprouts arrows... apart from Arik's that is. "Now HE might accidentally shoot you. Remember his face Aletta!"

1 Rivenshari Clansman arrives, following Vano.

Arcadia checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 13 higher.

Merek checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 8 lower.

Samithel checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 20 higher.

Pharamond checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 6 higher.

Fiora checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 17 higher.

Ophelia checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 26 higher.

Arik checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 8 lower.

Arcadia shoots again. Quickly and quietly. Her focus becoming more centered on each target.

Mirella has joined the by the midnight black cala lily.

Ophelia lets another arrow fly and it hits the bullseye of the target, which then has her bouncing with delight! She's all smiles and there's a quick glance down the row of archers before her cheekbones tinge red -- now she must prep for the next round. It comes and goes and she manages to hit the third target. A long, slow breath is inhaled and exhaled slowly to center herself as she awaits the fourth round.

Cillian checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 14 higher.

There's a murmur from Khaavren to Gwenna - probably some message being passed along. The Redrain gives him a little nod and after a small sigh, finishes her wine while standing. Seems duty or business doth call.

Gwenna has left the by the white lily garden.

Khaavren, a dutiful assistant, 2 Redrain Guards leave, following Gwenna.

Samithel nocks, draws and looses her arrow. It strikes wood, slightly off center, but having found its mark.

Merek lifts up his bow to take a shot, but doesn't hit the target. He nods a bit also.

Vano eases himself into the festival grounds and sees the completition is well underway. Damn, late! He hangs back for a moment where he can look over the heads of folks that might be sitting down, scanning the competitors and the host's faces for a moment to check for ones he recognizes.

Arik takes another shot as he begins to leave the line only to be directed back. He seems perplexed but readies his aim once more... He draws and holds.... Hooooooooolds... Holds it even longer, really aiming. His arms begin to quiver, his face getting a bit red as he's been exhaling this whole time in 'proper' form... Then he looses and the arrow soars to the left, misses his target, the target to the left of it, and comes dangerously close to the sideline but thankfully no one is standing in front of the archery line. This time.

Rhiannon checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 23 higher.

Acantha was up near the archery grounds, judging. And Benny was judging with his judgy little eyes as well. But the woman takes note of Vano when he arrives and she gives a wave to him. Then she's back to watching the archers and the team to help scoot targets back.

"Use your wind for your focus." She states flatly. Taking in another slow breath before looking to the targets down the line and bringing up her bow for the next shot. Fiora then glances over to Pharamond with the lightest of smiles. "What I'm saying is: You're loud." And she lets loose her next shot.

Arcadia immediately snorts at Fiora's words. She too teases Pharamond, "You are ridiculously loud My lord."

Pharamond looks at Fiora and he starts to ask a question about the focus thing and then when she says that, his lips part, and he starts to say something, and then they just close again but his shoulders are shaking with mirth. "Fine then..." he says, pretending to be wounded but it's clear the comment actually amused him even more. "It's not like we're trying to sneak up on anyone...loud...if I had a coin for every time I've been called that...I could have outbid the King for that cologne."

Pause.

"Loud..."

Pharamond checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 4 lower.

Fiora checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 17 higher.

Arik checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 9 lower.

Ophelia checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 27 higher.

Arcadia checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 68 higher.

Cillian checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 12 higher.

Thea twitches a little at those words directed at Pharamond. To silence herself, she actually takes a large drink of--something.

Merek checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 0 higher.

Merek lifts up his bow to take another shot, which actually manages to hit, even if not that well. Still he looks to it with an amused soft chuckle also.

Arik looks around and is directed to fire again. He squints at the servant suspiciously before slowly drawing another arrow to nock. This time he says to himself but loud enough to carry, "Wind as focus... the wind... The Laughing Wind... Not the quietest spirit." after his monologue of introspection, he shrugs, draws and fires. He hits! Arcadia's target, from the side. It sticks out arkward for a few seconds before a gentle spring breeze causes it to fall out onto the ground.

Arcadia immediately fires off her shot. Thunk! Almost in the center. She exhales, a tad frustrated.

Rhiannon checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 51 higher.

Rhiannon checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 12 higher.

Ophelia is pleased with her result this round and gives a nod as her dark colored eyes remain on her target. She falls quiet to focus for a moment, regaining her breath and steadying her hand in preparation for the next arrow she retrieves from her leather quiver at her hip.

"Oh for the sake of... Why is he still trying to shoot? It's clear he's got as much aim as the average man trying to pass water in the privy without hitting the seat!" Brigida's voice carries a lot from her spot as she watches Arik miss... again.

Pharamond has to try to shoot now and he starts to say something...looks to Fiora...stops. One can almost see the pain in his features as he tries to play the silent game. His shot however fails, missing the target, going a bit short, as the man clearly is not accustomed to shooting at this sort of distance. Still, Pharaomnd looks to Arcadia as she makes a face and he looks over, his eyes bl-bl-blinking after her reactoina nd he loudly says, as quietly as he can, one of those harsh whispers, "Did you really just grump at that shot?"

Arcadia slowly slants her gaze over to Arik as he hits her target. A slow smile forms on her face as she remarks bemused to him. "Next time, aim a little more to the right."

Mirella checked composure at difficulty 15, rolling 5 higher.

Sitting in thereabouts the same area as Brigida, though thankfully not right next to her given the volume, Mirella watches the shooting without a giggle and folds her hands in her lap neatly. She might be chewing on the inside of her cheek, though.

Arik hollers back to the lone voice, evidently never having met the Archlector. "Listen here nanny, I'll have you know the average man can aim just fine. It's only stubborn women who find the privvy damp in the evening!" and with his declaration made he claims and arrow, turns to squint at the crowd seeking out the peanut gallery commentator.

Fiora slowly looks sidelong at Pharamond, her lips thin. Then back down the line at the targets. She then looks over to Arik and there is the briefest roll of her eyes. She just gives Pharamond a shrug of her slender shoulders before aiming her next shot.

Thea checked composure at difficulty 15, rolling 3 lower.

Vano lifts a hand when he catches the wave from the beaver friend, then stifles a small, amused snort as he catches wind of the conversation about male aiming. Apparently having looked around enough, the Rivenshari lord finds a spot out of the way to park his tanned rump with a grunt, rolling his shoulders and craning his neck to watch the shooters as they continue.

Arik is overheard praising Acantha: A protege with perfect timing when her Patron needs a distraction.

Fiora checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 2 higher.

Pharamond checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 30 lower.

Arik checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 34 lower.

Samithel checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 21 higher.

Thea flicks her eyes between from Brigida to the distant form of Arik and back to Brigida. She tries so hard to keep it together but the twitch starts and before she can help herself, there is a brief but quiet giggle. Yes--giggle. Quickly realizing the sound came from her, Thea hurriedly covers the sound with her drink. Taking a large amount in her mouth. Nothing to see here...

It seems the little Countess does her best in times of chaos. As it erupts about damp toilet seats, Arcadia shoots her final target and it sticks! Not a bulls eye like she hoped, but it sticks.

Reedy, a King's Own aide have been dismissed.

Merek checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 22 lower.

Cillian checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 3 lower.

Merek doesn't manage to hit anything while he shoots, but it isn't the worst shot of the evening, so he will take that, as he nods a bit also.

Mirella checked composure at difficulty 15, rolling 3 higher.

Pharamond goes to shoot and it's clear perhaps that the next lesson he'll need to get from Fiora is proper care for the bow. As he draws back to release, his bow string snaps and the arrow manages to make it only about halfway to the target. "Well...then." He looks to the string dangling, technically two strings now, and he purses his lips. "I suppose that will need to be fixed later."

Cillian stands and tries to shoot perhaps it was Ariks comment to the Archlector that hits his ears and sets him off guard as he lets the arrow go and just misses, he wrinkles nose some and sighs.

Best

Ophelia sighs and always seems to miss the very last target. It's something she will have to work on! With a sigh and a slight wilting of shoulders, the Fox Princess straightens after a moment of defeat washes over her. She offers a smile to the archers and then turns her focus upon Baroness Acantha.

Mirella, in wake of Thea's giggle, simply places a fist delicately over her hand and gives the lightest of coughs. Must be some pollen in the air or something.

Mirella places a fist over her mouth, even.

Maybe Samithel does not shoot the most accurately or offer the most advice, but she shoots consistently, hitting each target with the same nock-draw-loose motion and unshakable calm--at least, while focused on the target. A streak of blue paint and flint arrowhead, and the projectile strikes wood. Even the last one.

Arcadia stares at Pharamond and that bow! That amazing bow that he just disrespected with bad stringing. Now she really huffs at him.

Acantha gives a look over to the post where Benny had been...but it seems the beaver has disappeared. That means Vano should have a visitor. The animal approaches the Rivenshari lord and plops down right beside him. Acantha gives a chuckle, oh dear. "Archers, you all did very well today. So everyone should feel great about that." she states. "I'm going to tally these scores really fast and then we'll announce the winners. Meanwhile feel free to get a drink and something to eat." she tells them.

Firing off another shot, Fiora slowly looks over to Pharamond. She /almost/ smiles. "At least you're talking less. You may have hurt a bow but at least you're helping everyone around you now. That's altruism." She gives a respectful nod to Pharamond. Good job Pharamond.

Thea antonio=kk

Arik squints at the crowd for another long moment with no immediate call back. Thus does he take the arrow, nock it, mutter to himself, square up and... Draw... Fires.... It lands twenty feet away, you could see it travel. It was almost like a sad paper airplane, wafting down to the ground. Impotent. Then he hands off the bow to the nearest assistant for the competition and promptly walks away from the shooting line like he was never there. On his way to the booze!

Arik has left the archery grounds.

Arik has joined the by the midnight black cala lily.

Samithel has left the archery grounds.

Brigida's disciples give each other a look at Arik's words and immediately take a step back as they remove themselves from her line of sight. As the competitors loose their arrows, Brigida is making her way towards Arik, staff in hand and a look that would freeze a man midstream in worry. "Nanny? Obviously you never had a proper nanny or schooling on how to speak to your elders. Or schooling with the bow but that's obvious isn't it?" The little Archlector glares at Arik and then at his untouched target. "At least I know that if you ever came hunting at the Lodge of Petrichor then I know not to rely on you to put food on my table."

Ophelia has left the archery grounds.

Brigida checked command + intimidation at difficulty 15, rolling 39 higher.

Vano gets Arrowhead Necklace from Waterproof Leatherbound Map Case.

Arik checked willpower + leadership at difficulty 54, rolling 6 lower.

Samithel has joined the by the midnight black cala lily.

Unstringing her bow, Samithel walks away from the range, fading from attention as a simple servant--even one with a longbow--might in a sea of nobility. That same casual stealth sees her from the targets to the midnight lily.

Vano glances down when the overly large mass of brown beaver plunks down next to him, and chuckles. He reaches down and, perhpas unwisely, begins scritching on the animal's neck and back, at least as long as he sits still for it, while Vano glances up through the crowd, trying to pay attention to who's winning the contest.

Rhiannon checked command + intimidation at difficulty 15, rolling 7 higher.

Rhiannon checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 15 lower.

Ophelia slips an arm and shoulder through her bow so she can easily carry it with her while going forth to fetch something to drink. She could use something like a shot of Northern whiskey -- they have that here, right? She'll find out! A hand lifts to tuck some stray wisps of blonde hair behind an ear as she searches for a glass. As a huntress for the Lodge of Petrichor, she's rather interested in what Brigida has to say, though she doesn't pry.

Thea has left the by the midnight black cala lily.

Finn the youthful northern boy, with icy blue eyes leaves, following Thea.

Arik is on his way towards the refreshments only to be intercepted by nanny Brigida. He pauses with a squint at the Archlector, those frosty grey eyes taking her and the stave in. He seems to be taking a breath to retort only to have the dominant woman continue on and mention Petrichor. Even unaware Spirit believers can put two and two together and thus does Brigida draw an eloquent *oh* from the Sword of Whitehold who clearly shifts his weight onto his back foot and clears his throat in a more apologetic bent to the following rumble a voice, "Seraph." he hazards a guess, still unable to tell rank by sight. "You'll have to take it up with my Uncle Vercyn on my schooling, he was no Duke Arn but I am also rather thick skulled. An attribute all House Swords would benefit from." he even gives his own noggin a rap with his knuckles on the side.

Cillian moves to head back over to petal, "I am thirsty." and he heads in the same direction as Arik and Brigida, he nods to the older woman showing respect as he meet her before. "Lord Arik." he moves past them to grab something to wet his lips with.

Acantha checked charm + diplomacy at difficulty 15, rolling 59 higher.

Samithel checked dexterity + stealth at difficulty 15, rolling 54 higher.

Brigida glares at Arik for a moment as she bristles at been called a Seraph and opens her mouth to speak when...

Petal peeks over to Cillian, giving him a smile. "You did well." She says in his direction. She is curled-up on the grass and watching the contest.

Rhiannon walks over to Pharamond and looks at his bow. "I think you have a problem there, cousin. Something that I can help with?"

Acantha gives a look up when she hears Brigida and then it's directed to Arik. She gives a frown to her patron! What was he doing?! "Archlector Brigida." she states as she approaches the woman and gives a bow of her form to her. "I apologize for this misunderstanding and I will take care to maybe teach my patron here some discretion and maybe some calmer tactics than calling out people." she states as she gives Arik a look. "You are a guest of Clearlake's and I would not want that to happen again." she murmurs to them. "Lord Arik, if you will apologize." she asks him.

Pharamond puts his bow back on his shoulders and hears the bits of discussion going on, looking between the Sword of Whitehold and the Archlector. His lips purse casually and he starts to drift over. He doesn't add to the conversation, but instead just lingers, spying curiously the exchange but he looks to his cousin and smiles. "Apparently I didn't keep it oiled enough. I will need to obtain a new one to string it up again later."

Mirella, during all this talk of Seraphs, has quietly stood up and is now edging away from the black calla lilies. Off she goes. So quiet. Such soft footsteps. Wow.

Mirella has left the by the midnight black cala lily.

Arik is likewise opening his mouth only to have the Hostess and Baroness come join them for a 'chat'. The Halfshav Lord makes a quiet cluck with his tongue but dips his head to Brigida, "Of course Archlector. I apologize for my remarks. I know the Brothers of the Faith would never intentionally mis-aim in the privvy." there is a pause and he adds, "Have you met my protege Baroness Acantha Clearlake. I always find it best that proteges are better than their patrons in talent if not experience. It's certainly served me well." he says with a motions towards the magnificently begowned Baroness.

Vano tilts his head at something small the beaver drops in his hand, but his attention is drawn back up to the interaction between Arik and Brigida and Acantha, one brow lifting in curiosity while he continues idly scritching on the beaver. Is he...muttering to the animal? Clearly someone is regretting not bringing alcohol with him to spectate.

Arcadia finally makes her way over to get a drink. A sip of whiskey as she watches the drama defuse and waits for the results.

Cillian moves past the small gathering and brings Petal back a drink as well and sits down next to her, "Thank you." he places the bow on the ground next to them as he sips his drink peeking over in Ariks direction.

Brigida seems somewhat mollified by Acantha's words and Arik's apology (of sorts). "Of course they don't intentionally mis aim... they just can't hit the target before them." She hurumphs before nodding, "I've yet to find someone to impress me enough AND want to be my protege to learn that. I'll take your word for that Lord Arik." Acantha gets a bow of her head, "You do him and yourself considerable credit."

Stefano, an inconspicuous Lycene bodyguard, Carmela, a gleaming dusken-feathered crow, Ambra, a plain-faced Lycene scribe leave, following Mirella.

Acantha straightens a bit when Arik apologizes and yes, bold move making your Patron apologize. But she was a Diplomat and he was needing some reminding! She gives a bow of her head to Brigida, "Any protege that you take would have a wonderful and knowledgable teacher." she tells her with a smile. "Thank you for the praise, Archlector. I try my best." she tells her softly. "If you will both excuse me though I need to announce the winners and hand out their prizes. Thank you both for attending and I hope there are no more ruffles." she gives them both a bow and then heads back towards where others are gathered.

"If I could have the archers attention. I'm going to be awarding third place first." she states to them.

"In third place with 148 points we have Lady Rhiannon Ashford. For her placing she's receiving a leather quiver that has been embroidered. I hope that it serves the Lady well." she states as she gets the quiver out of the bag she'd picked up.

Merek is overheard praising Rhiannon.

"In second place we have Countess Arcadia Stahlben who scored 149 points. For her placing she is receiving a pair of exotic leather bracers that have been made with Clearlake exotic hides. I hope that you like these, Countess." she states with a smile as she calls Arcadia up to receive them.

As Acantha departs there is a sidelong look at Brigida as if checking to see if the Archlector is still watching the young Baroness. "Likewise I'm sure any protege you -find- would find you an excellent patron." Arik remarks to Brigida with one hand coming up to stroke his formidable beard. "If you like I'd be happy to bring you a drink Archlector, I even promise not to splash it on the way back. Steady hands and all." a wolfish smirk at the last bit for the domineering woman.

Cillian claps his hands together for Rhiannon when she is placed as third, he gives her a nod. When second place is called he claps her Arcadia as well.

Arcadia blushes a tad surprised at coming second. She steps forward and gives a greatful dip of her head as she receives her prize. She gives a cheer to the other winners and competitiors too.

Petal reaches out for the drink offered to her and she gives Cillian another smile. She seem quite, but cheerful.

Merek is overheard praising Arcadia.

Pharamond grins and cheers, "Close one," he says and claps, looking between Arcadia and Rhiannon. "Well played. Good to see you both up there!"

Acantha picks up another bag that was eased against one of the posts and pulls out the Rubicund bow that is first prize. "Princess Ophelia Velenosa is our top scorer today with 193 points. This bow was designed by Brother Felix Meadson and I hope that it serves you well your highness." she tells Ophelia as she holds the bow out for her.

"Please give all of our winners and are competitors a round of applause." Acantha gives a smile as she claps.

Merek is overheard praising Ophelia.

Cillian has left the archery grounds.

1 Crimson Blades Sergeant have been dismissed.

1 Crimson Blades Lieutenant have been dismissed.

1 Crimson Blades Private have been dismissed.

Ophelia sips what's left of her drink and then sets the empty glass down upon a tray with a few others. She quietly clears her throat a little and then runs both hands along her hips to smooth the fabric of her silken dress when Baroness Acantha starts to announce the winners. She claps for each winner and when her name is called, she blushes. "Thank you so very much. I dedicate this win to my late brother, Prince Luca Grayson, who I wish could've been here to compete with us this evening." The bow is accepted and held close like it is precious to her. "And thank you for hosting the tournament, Baroness." A respectful curtsy is given before Ophelia steps back with a soft smile.

Samithel adds her own applause to the volume of the crowd from her seated position near the black lilies.

Acantha is overheard praising Ophelia: For Luca!

Rhiannon bows toward Acantha as she announces the winners. She does smile a little. "Thank you. Thank you for holding this event."

Rhiannon is overheard praising Acantha.

Quintin applauds for all the winners; he says something quietly to Amari and Samithel.

Arik begins to clap for the winners as they're announced though when Luca is brought up both his coppery brows perk up before looking back to Brigida for her disposition on his drink offer.

Arcadia is overheard praising Ophelia: The winner of the night.

The Archlector shakes her head, considering the beard that some (not she) would consider formidable. "No thank you Lord Arik. I need to get back home to prepare my prayers with helping Lord Mirk Halfshav with the ritual to heal the Stone Grove." She pauses to.offer a round of applause to the winners before looking back at Arik. "And I need to rest before it."

Rhiannon is overheard praising Ophelia.

"I wasn't aware you were helping with the Stone Grove. Given he is currently asleep in his rooms from the preparation it's impressive that you could make an outing." Arik remarks in a low rumble of a voice and a somewhat skeptical look at the Archlector. "Still I am sure both Elder Mirk and Vala Khanne along with the Princess-Mother Drea all appreciate your participation. The Lodge like the Stone Grove is not just a place of the Gods or the Spirits, afterall."

Vano lifts his voice in a cheer when the Princess is announced the winner. Hey, he even applauds the three winners and slowly lumbers to his feet as the crowd slowly rustles and erupts into talk, glancing between some of the faces perhaps to just place them for later.

Vano is overheard praising Acantha: For hosting a good tournament!

Acantha gives a bow to the winners and there's a smile as she straightens, "Thank you all for coming and please feel free to mingle, eat and drink. I need to step away to talk with a guest. So if I'm needed please just give me a shout." she smiles to that. Then she's moving back towards someone. The sapphires sparkle on her torc as she moves over to Vano, "I am helping with the Stone Grove tomorrow as well, were you?" she asks him quietly.
