Telmar's Gauntlet has been decorated with all the main colours of the great fealty's. Grayson, Redrain, Thrax, Valardin, Velenosa. Even the crownss and the faith' colours are represented. Food tent provide thing to eat and drink while people have been trying their hand at the gauntlet and having their numbers recorded for posterity. It's been spectacualr to say the least so far with some noteable numbers both high and low and no one has been discouraged. Though there's a few of the mercies on hand to tend to inevitable wounds that come from ill timed falls and trips. There's no order to who goes, save that when it's time, the persons name is called and spectators at the benches leave to become participants and eventually join back when done. It's loud, noisy and thus far, a good time has been had by all

Marian makes her way into the Gauntlet, glancing in interest to see who is there to compete. She finds a quite place off to the side where the Redrain warriors are being directed to go, and starts stretching to get herself ready. For only have given birth about 2 months ago, Marian seems fit and ready to tackle this difficult obstacle course.

Lucita comes into the area, sighs and looks over the course. "You don't know how much I dread this, but guess there is no better way to get back into shape after having the twins than to give it a try. Just did not expect such a good turnout.

Nothing says 'getting back in shape' quite like a jaunt through The Gauntlet. Thus, the tiny terrors arrive in the form of Alis and her eldest but still quite young daughter Ellara. The latter of which is taken up to the stands by Sir Rhys so she can cheer for everyone but her mom, likely.

Alarissa's already sitting in the spectator's area, beneath a heavy cloak of seasilk and fur, cheering along the others who have run thus far. At the sight of others she knows, filtering in, Alarissa waves to them.

Tesha is here since she's one of the Telmar's, but she's not participating in the Gauntlet. That's for one of her Cousins to do. She's just not the one to send. She gives a smile to those that have arrived to watch and to run as well. She then makes herself comfortable up in the nobles seating.

"I think they'd rather I didn't compete," Sabella is telling her ladies as she comes in and surveys the seating, "I'd probably trip on the edge of my dress and break something or worse and then things would have to come to a halt and no one came here to watch all that!" she gives bright smiles and waves to those she knows as she heads over to find a place to sit.

Lisebet is here already, as well, checking over the food stands and making sure that everything is good, nobody has run out of anything, and there are no minor emergencies needing attention. With that run done, she heads over to Alarissa, pausing to nod her way. It's as close to a thumb's up as makes sense, really. "Do you need me to do anything else, Princess Alarissa?" she asks, tilting her head slightly.

Austen slinks into the Gauntlet, clearly here for the competition. The large knight is unusually subdued and looks a little drawn, his skin paler than usual. Still, he's dressed for it, tucking himself into a place in line, refusing to make eye contact with anyone.

Stripped to the waist, the massive meatwall of Jeffeth Bayweather is present, currently stretching out. It looks like he might have shown up early and already ran the gauntlet once. The big man is covered in a light sheen of sweat, stretching his massive arms over his overgrown chest. Bending over to touch his toes, the behemoth straightens up to smile at those lining up to compete as Norwood prepares to go Jeffeth starts to hammer his meaty mitts together, clapping. "Go get it, Sir norwood!"

Off to an early start, Ellara squeals when she sees Marian and starts to squirm to get out of the iron grip of her guard. To no avail, she pouts mightily, and then shows who she got her lungs from. "AUNT MARIIIIIIIIII!" It prompts an indulgent laugh from Alis while they watch Norwood go through the motions. "I think she's chosen who she's cheering for." is quipped to Marian, before she claps and whistles for the Laurent Sword. "Show em what an Oathlander is made of!"

Norwood is going to take the age before beauty tactic here by going first. He des well at the first activities, moving quickly over MOST of the obstacles until those stupid V-Logs and High Hurdles trip the seasoned knight up. (Literally, there is falling at one point which gets some nice solid dirt into his beard). He'll finish strong at the end though, throwing himself onto the rope and finishing sweating and panting. For the cheers he bows once before going take himself quite out of the way.

Paige is there and in fighting form, her eyes bright and looking more -there- than usual. When she notes another figure in the line, she actually leans around the intervening people to murmur something to him, patting him on the shoulder and flashing a reassuring grin before straightening back up and watching Norwood complete his run. She puts two fingers to her lips to let out a piercing whistle when he completes the course. Oathlands solidarity!

Seax arrives, following Arik.

Marian pauses in her stretching to watch Norwood take to the Gauntlet. She winces at his struggles on the v-logs and high hurtles, and gives him a hearty clap for making an excellent run. She pauses when she hears the squeals of her niece, "Ellara!" She gives her a big wave, "I'll see you after my run." She salutes Alis as well. Then turns her attention back to the course as Austen starts his run.

Theo makes his way up into the stands, taking a seat near Sabella and her ladies-in-waiting. Reaching down to his belt, he unclips a leather wineskin, drawing it up to his lips for a hearty drink.

A pair of Halfshav Lords arrive late but the pair are walking at a leisurely pace bantering to one another in some Northern shav dialect. Alis whistles under her breath. "Here's to hoping I don't embarass us all when it's my turn." .. as Austen begins putting people to shame.

Austen applauds Norwood's run, the Oathlander knight nodding his head to something someone says to him. He finishes a stretch as he's called up next in line, dashing forwards to grab the first bar, swinging himself forwards and towards the hurdles. The hurdles he clears with ease before he runs for the wall, a slight stumble to his movements before he jumps, using his height to just about grab the wall and heave himself over. He takes a moment to breathe before he scales the double bars, flies through the V logs and leaps the final hurdles. The rope is nearly his undoing, the knight clearly tiring from the rest of the course, but make it he does, banging the gong before he returns to the ground, panting heavily. A bow to the crowd and he's moving to join Norwood.

Marian gives a hearty clap for Austen as he finishes his Gauntlet run. She motions to Alis next to her, "Look at his performance on the double bars...amazing." Arik reaches up and adjusts the three weave braid hanging down his back before unbuckling his swordbelt and noting Seax has actually come out to the yard. I'd rather have a chance at winning." he remarks in a good natured rumble and a smirk playing across his lips.

Alis claps as Jeffeth finishes his run, inclining her head towards him in acknowledgement. "Looks like we're putting on a good showing at least. Look at Paige, doing so well." It brings a smile to her face to watch, really. Seeing the display of athleticism. "We better be sure Lord Ansel and Duke Arn don't find out. They'll make the course more difficult."

Is she too late? Mercedes comes striding in and the gauntlet is underway! But the Inquisitor simply strides up to the line of competitors and .. joins. This isn't reeeeeally her jam usually -- performing for a crowd -- but why the heck not? The dark-haired former Valardin royal stretches lightly and watches the others run the course as she waits her turn.

Seax says in Northlands shav, "I have some business to attend to, unfortunately. Good luck, cousin. Glory to the North."

Seax has left the The Gauntlet Obstacle Course.

Paige races the course with the sort of determination that says she knows she's not the best, but that she's going to put on a good showing at least! She stumbles and struggles with a few obstacles, notably the V-Logs giving her some trouble, but she manages to pull herself back up and around and finishes perhaps not spectacularly, but at least with gusto! Flicking what's left of her hair back, she flashes a grin from the top fo the rope and clambers on down to make way for the next person.

Marian motions to Jeffeth's run as an example to Alis, "You have to pace yourself. He had some amazing performance in the beginning but the second half was rough for him." She then motions over to Paige's performance, "And her...she almost did a clean performance. That's what you're going for." She gives a big clap for both of them. She gives a teasing look to Mercedes, "And how did I get here before you? You left the salon before me."

Alis greets Mercedes with a brief nod when she arrives, glancing between her and Marian with a bit of a smile. "Welcome." she says simply, continuing to watch the others as they step up.

Sorrel does pretty well with the first half of the Gauntlet. The easy part. 'Easy.' But then she gets to those terrible V-Logs, and they're just the worst. She scrambles ungracefully over the High Hurdles, and she doesn't really even try the Rope. But by the end of it, she is laughing and sweating and she looks happy.

Sabella catches sight of Lisebet and gives her a big wave, "Come sit with us! I would trip going down the stairs to join I think!"

Jeffeth went at the run. He struggles immediately and falls off the single bar. This seems to be embarrassing. As he tackles the low hurdles he is let up with a blush, jumping over the hurdles, legs flinging up as he starts to gain momentum. When he gets to the wall, he practically flies up it. One second he's on the ground, the next he's standing at the top. Proud! Jeffeth keeps running but when he starts running the hurdles he is focused on the crowd, smiling at some and waving off to them. And then he definitely trips up and falls. He eventually finishes but is just a bit scraped up. However, he doesn't seem worn out, "Do we go again?" The big man rumbles happily as he walks towards the others who have finished.

Jeffeth has left the The Gauntlet Obstacle Course.

Marian gives a look to Alis as she's about to begin, "Okay...I'll be rooting for you sister." She gives Sorrel a salute as she finishes her course. She does a few more stretches since she's going after Alis.

Paige has left the The Gauntlet Obstacle Course.

Mercedes gives Marian a crisp little nod. "I had some business to attend to," she explains, turning the woman's light tease with utter seriousness. Ask a question, get an answer! It's the Inquisitor way; it's right there in their handbook -- next to the 'how to' torture guide. Ahem. Shifting her attention off the Redrain royal and over to the Valardin, she gives Alis a little bow. "Your Highness." Formal. Polite. A little edge of determination. Let's do this thing.

Arik claps for Paige as the run is completely and moves up with the group waiting to make their own runs. Marian gets a nod now that they're closer and the Halfshav Sword swings his swordbelt to hang over his shoulder with a pensive expression.

Alis flashes a grin towards Marian. "I may just need it, since Ellara is rooting for you." she jokes, stepping up to wait for the course to clear, before she gives it a go.

Lisebet watches Sorrel, very seriously, waiting until she is done. And then she glances over at Alarissa, curiously. She hears Sabella's call, and that gets a wave her way. "I'm just going to go say hello," she tells Alarissa. Not that the princess needs her, but well, she did offer to help. Given the chance, she drifts over and politely curtseys. "Princess Sabella," she says. "It might be fun to try anyway. Though I would hate to get hurt."

"You should go do it," Sorrel tells Lisebet with a grin, putting her hands on her hips. "Try it! There's plenty of padding and protection. No one has ever died doing the Gauntlet. That I know." She winks playfully at this.

Alis starts out with a whimper, maaaaybe not quite getting her chin up over that bar, but gathers some steam as she leaps the obstacles and climbs the wall. Apparently the double bars are her thing, and she's been practicing v-logs! Take that, dastardly v-logs. The rest? She scrapes by with a bit of panting breath, and leans against a wooden beam when done, before veering off to the seating and giving the rest of the competitors a thumbs up. "Good luck! And kick that bar's ass for me, Marian!"

"I have met Sir Jeffeth," Lisebet says. "A pleasure to meet you, Prince Theo. If you will excuse me, I should go stand in line and frighten myself before making a fool of myself."

Theo dips his head respectfully to Lisebet. "The pleasure is mine, Lady Farshaw. Please, go right ahead. I shall look forward to watching."

Marian takes to the course, starting off strong as she easily clears the first few obstacles without a problem. Her perfromance on the wall is the best, followed by the double bars. However, the last two obstacles prove to be harder for the warrior princess. She knocks one of the hurtles down during the high hurtles. And struggles to finish the last piece of the rope course. Of course once she's done. She takes a deep breath and paces for a moment to work through the adrenaline before finding her seat with the other spectators.

Lucita hears her name and eyes the obstacles. She takes a deep breath and makes a run for it, managing the easy things but dropping from the wall just inches from the top. She dusts herself off and heads for the double bars, clearing them pretty well, much to her surprise. The V-logs do her in though, ungracefully managing to almost get stuck there. It throws her off stride and pace and the hurdles and rope, nope, not going to manage them. She limps off the field and is a little pale as she moves over to the bench, gasping a little and sliding up the split skirt to see a blooming bruise just above the knee, ouch!

Turn in line: Felicia

Lucita has left the The Gauntlet Obstacle Course.

Another round of applause from the Halfshav Sword once Lucita comes off the field towards the benches. He seems to be bantering with Felicia and nods in Lucita's direction, "From what I've heard of Duke Arn, he'd happily see the entire Peerage lined up to run the Gauntlet. It's certainly good to see folk giving it a go."

On a chalkboard, a thrax servant runs back and forth from Alarissa and the scorekeeper, to to the board and back, repeatedly, as people run the gauntlet and scores come in so they can see the results.

Felicia passes the large lump of rubicund known as Persuasion over to Arik with a smile before sizing up the obstacles. The first four? No problem. He stands, watching people with his hands clasped behind his back for several long moments, keeping a purposeful eye on the athletes, before wandering over to the eastern spectator seating.

Rohran has joined the East Spectator Seating.

Lisebet looks a bit nervous as Felicia has trouble. But there's a tilt of her head, and then a delicate shrug. Mischief flares across her face, should anyone be watching, and she glances over at Sorrel, and then to Alarissa. This is going to be fun.

Paige continues to watch the runners from just beyond the Gautnlets grounds, not bothering with the stands or seating. She whistles and cheer for every competitor, no matter their fealty... though the Valardins do get a bit -more- of a cheer for their runs.

Marian lets out a Northern battle cry as Arik finishes his run. She gives the man a salute, letting him know that she's proud of his strong finish. She then realizes that she has Alis' daughter in her lap and looks down to make sure she didn't startle her. Tesha gets a deep smile as she greets everyone in the stands, "Your Highness." Then Norwood says something and she glances at Felicia with concern.

Prior to actually running the course Arik waits for Felicia and her seeping injury to find a seat and leaves Frostfang and Persuasion with her at the spot. From there he jogs up to the course and he's off! First things first, with a *nnnnngh* as he comes up slow on the first bar and then drops down to leap over the low hurdles with a *hup* *hup* *hup* which leads into the wall which he scampers up. The rest of the course seems to be a matter of execution for the Halfshav until he gets to the rope. He gets right on up that rope but it looks like he's flush fashed and measuring his breathing to do so. Gong rung he slides back down and makes hsi way to the stands.

Alright. It's time to do this thing. Mercedes runs the course -- the bar, the hurdles, the wall, all of it. She is very .. consistent. She isn't the best. She isn't the worst. After Lisebet's run, Paige cringes but applauds her effort anyways before finally removing herself from near to the gauntlet grounds to head up into the stands. Peer pressure, man. Its a killer.

Felicia has left the The Gauntlet Obstacle Course.

Violet arrives dressed to run the gauntlet. As she stretches she watches Lisebet run. There is sympathy in her eyes, but she also is nodding slightly to herself. Despite the Gauntlet not being the ladies friend, she persists. So she claps for her when she ends her run. That kind of perseverence should be.

Lisebet is not the most athletic. This is stated right up front. She's giving it a go, because, well, why not? Anyway, she gets out there, eyes the crowd dubiously, and then she starts for the first bar. She comes to a stop in front of it, eyeing it. She's not very tall either, so then she backs up and tries again, getting halfway over, and then having to pull herself around to drop to the other side. Then she starts running, managing barely not to trip over her face as she goes over the hurdles. Some of those low hurdles go down, but she staggers on. The wall - Funny thing, she actually manages to get up the wall okay, somehow. But that's about the end of her race, as she drops down, with a wince. Now she's hobbling along towards the - what's next? Whatever it is, she comes right up to it, stares at it and then she shakes her head. "Nope." That's all she says, before she takes herself off the course, dropping to whatever seat is nearest.

Sorrel heads over to Lisebet to offer her comfort and companionship. "I can see why Alban has you exercising so much," she teases in a fond way, helping to gather the girl up. "You're probably going to be a bit sore tomorrow. But it's okay! You gave it a go!"

Marian sends a salute to Lisebet for her good try on the Gauntlet. She continues to bounce her niece on her knee as she talks to her sister. Overall Marian looks happy and content as she gives an update on her life.

Lisebet eyes her bruised ankle for a moment, and then she shrugs. Sorrel's arrival gets a grin, as she does get to her feet with her sister-in-law's assistance. "I am not cut out for this," she mutter, but then she laughs. "Next time, Maybe I'll actually finish the thing."

Violet winds up probably being one of the last runners. And she doesn't put on much of a show. She approaches it all with focus, her face an impassive mask. And everything goes okay till those last three. Even as the v-logs leave her gasping and having to stop for breath, she pushes on. There is determination in the set of her face. The high vaults trip her up too, banging her shin with a grunt of pain. And that damned rope. She gets close to the top, but then has to slide the rest of the way down. On the ground she growls and glares at it.

Another bit of applause from Arik for Violet's run and a shake of his head while speaking with Tesha in the stands. He does point out Violet and remarks something

Alarissa drops 1st Aunnual Compact Gauntlet 1008 AR.

Marian is overheard praising Austen for: Great run through the Gauntlet!

Marian is overheard praising Jeffeth for: Still did better than me through the Gauntlet!

Lisebet is overheard praising Alarissa for: For hosting all the fun!

Marian is overheard praising Alarissa for: The hostess with the mostest.

The last of the few people left to run through the gauntlet run through and eventually scores are tallied and that poor servant makes one last run to the scoreboard even as Alarissa's making her way down to the main ground and the course closest to the stands. "Can I have Sir Austen Ferron join me?" Ovelia's moving in with a trophy in arms for presumably the top scorer.

Alis is overheard praising Austen for: Oathlander pride!

Alis is overheard praising Alarissa.

Alis is overheard praising Lisebet.

Lisebet is overheard praising Austen for: For a bang up job running the gauntlet

Marian is overheard praising Lisebet for: You did your best despite the odds not being in your favor.

Lucita is overheard praising Alarissa for: Fun event!

Violet moves away from the gauntlet and to where there are towels and water. Taking a goodly drink she eyes the gauntlet. It isn't angry, per se, but her lips are thinned and she frowns faintly. The towel wipes the sweat from her brow before she picks up her backpack from where she had set it. Turning she walks over to Arik. "I hate that rope I think."

Lucita is overheard praising Lisebet for: Good try, fun event.

Austen blinks as he's called up, the knight carefully standing from the bench where he's sat. There's a little bit of a sway from the pale knight, giving those at the bench a weak smile. He picks his way down to the main ground, stopping in front of Alarissa, quiet, hands clasped behind his back.

Arik is standing near Tesha in the stands and when Violet walks up he looks down at her with a lingering smirk and suggests, "Someone has been in an office and not their yard I think. Still you had a good run until the end. Sir Austen, Sir Jeffeth, and Princess Marian all had exceedingly good showings. I am shocked Sir Jeffeth did not win, I had heard rumors of him doing some manner of training the past week."

Marian gives a shake of her head, "Violet...just wasn't your day. Don't sweat it." She gives a half smile to the frustrated woman, "You'll do better next time around." She then looks to Alis to see if she wants her sticky daughter back, pausing in mid-handoff since Austen is being called to the stage.

Sorrel is overheard praising Lisebet for: For running a lovely event and being a good sport!

Tesha is overheard praising Alarissa for: For hosting a great event!

Tesha is overheard praising Lisebet for: For hosting a great event!

Lucita is overheard praising Austen for: Gauntlet Winner 1008

Alis holds out her arms for her daughter, rubbing her nose against her toddler's in a laughing greeting despite the sticky fingers. "Marian always does well at these. Watching her power through these gives me motivation to keep trying." she admits, her eyes on Austen the whole time so she can see him get his due.

Violet turns to Marian and gives her a polite smile and a bow. "Your highness, I missed everyones runs. And you're probably right Arik. Too much work at a desk," She says, wrinkling her nose slightly. "Ah well. I'll keep at it."

Felicia grins up at Violet,"You did better than me." she points out,"And I don't work behind a desk, so." she chuckles, distracted by the applauding for Austen as the winner and giving a sharp whistle, though careful of her newly restitched wound.

"In third place we have Princess Marian Redrain!" Alarissa gestures to Marian. Second place, is Sir Jeffeth Bayweather. But first place, and reigning champion of the Compact Gauntlet Tournament is Sir Austen Ferron." Ovelia hefts the trophy, the golden cup, in his direction. "One hundred and forty eight points. Astounding. Very well done." There's a gesture then to the gauntlet as a whole. "Feel free to run it again, to try and outdo your best, or enjoy the refreshments! WE'll see you all next year for the next official Compact run."

Lucita rises from her place on the benches, claps for everyong and the hosts then makes her way out.

Lucita has left the East Spectator Seating.

1 Saik Guard, Gunther, a Rottweiler, Micana, Golden, an Oakhaven bloodhound leave, following Lucita.

Lisebet at least manages to stand with Sorrel's help, and then she limps over to see what else she can do to help Alarissa out. Though it really does seem as though the Princess has it down to a science. "That was not very graceful," she says, completely talking about herself. "Unlike everyone else." She knows she was terrible, and doesn't seem to be too worried about it. As Alarissa does the speech, Lisebet waits for the appropriate moments and cheers along with everyone else. Then she glances at Sorrel. "You did marvelously well."

Norwood applauds the winners at they go up, though he's watching Austen to see if the man falls over. SLYLY (oh so slyly) he's going to try to give Alis' kid a honey candy while everyone is looking elsewhere.

Norwood checked dexterity + legerdemain at difficulty 15, rolling 2 higher.

"Oh, I've done it better in the past, but I'm also better trained than you are," Sorrel points out to Lisebet with a soft laugh. "It's fine. Either you'll get better or you'll take your bruises and apply yourself to your diplomacy lessons more fiercely."

Violet brings her hands together as the winners are announced. Marian and Jeffeth both getting a flash of her smile. "I suppose that should make me feel better, Felicia, but it doesn't," She says with a laugh and a shake of her head. "Speaking of getting out from behind the desk. I only stopped in briefly. Off for a couple days to the chapter house in Stonewood to do some maintenance."

Arik applauds the winners and looks around those at the stand before nodding to Violet, "Mayhap we can do a spar when you return. I'll give you two minutes at range with the bow before I run you down." he suggests in a wry tone and nods to Felicia.

Alis claps as well as she's able to, when the winners are announced. And then, pins Norwood with a /look/ (heavily tinged with bemusement). "This was an outgrageously good time, but I must take the little one home and wash off her hands. And then see if we can't run off some of the extra energy she has.." And how did he sneak her another candy while she was looking right at him dammit!? She looks down at Ellara again, and she's got a secon candy in her mouth! With a shake of her head, the Princess is off. "My love to you all! And Marian, I will see you soon I hope!"

Marian gives a firm hug to her sister and then gives a clap when the winners are announced. She gives a deep smile when it's revealed that she's in third place. Austen and Jeffeth get salutes from her for beating her time. She then turns to her sister, murmuring a few words as she starts to gather her things. It's clear that she can't stay for the reception.

Tesha cheers for the winners, giving a round of applause as she hears the names called. There's a bit of a smile as Austen wins. Yay Valardin!

Austen bows to Alarissa as he receives his trophy, the knight definitely taking longer to straighten up than he does to lean forwards. As he's holding the trophy there is a moment in which he eyes the bowl of the cup as if he's going to be sick into it, but somehow manages to keep everything together. "Thank you," he says to Alarissa. "It was an honour to compete." He makes his slow way towards the exit, trophy in hands.

Alis has left the East Spectator Seating.

Sir Rhys, a Valardin Knight, Laurene, a military adjutant leave, following Alis.

Marian has left the East Spectator Seating.

Violet raises a brow at Arik. "Two minutes is an awful long time. I can fire over two dozen arrows in that time frame, you know that right?" She asks with a chuckle. "But yes, we should spar. And you too, Felicia," A hand reaches out to clap the redhead on the back in a friendly manner. "But I best get. I'll have to ride for an hour hard to catch up to the rest."
