Most Abandoned tribes survive by not being noticed by the bigger houses. Not a one of them could withstand the Compact if the Arvani came at them with sustained force, they need survive by holding enough power to dominate their territory, without holding so much or taking so much that they grow big and troublesome enough to get Noticed. Being left alone to hate their neighbors is the best many tribes can expect.
It's a fine balance, which greed, pride, or ill luck can upset all too quick.

Relationship Note on Ida
I have had every weapon commissioned since being knighted made by Dame Ida's hand. Before she was Dame Ida, even! From the simple steel blade, to the redsteel and whitesteel flails that I favor in the midst of battle. She has never once disappointed me. Every weapon made has been an extension of both my heart and my hand. My latest commission is no exception, and she has crafted yet another truly exceptional weapon that I am proud to own and even more proud to show off as one of her works.
You are an artist that legends are made of, Dame Ida. The Oathlands, and House Valardin in particular, are so very lucky to have you.

YOU: An enchanting Eurusi, mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

Don't be ridiculous. Of course I didn't attend. Anyone would be able to tell at a glance if I stood behind any mask.
Besides, have you seen the dresses they wear there? I'm not sure which would be worse - showing up and being so hopelessly outstaged or showing up and having my head turned quite so many times. It's enough to make for a sore neck, I'm certain.
I definitely did not attend.

Too many is the number of those I've been close to - or at least on good terms with - who have simply moved on with their lives and left this city with nary a word to me before so doing. Not knowing how they fare, not knowing if they live, not knowing where they are? The absolute worst of all. I could write entries at length for each of them, and to what end?
Ever have I made a concerted effort not to fall prey to wallowing about the past when the future has so much yet to be written, but I am as human as any when it comes to the simplest of truths:
I miss them all.
New faces will stand where they stood in time, perhaps, but not a one is replaceable.

Still, it was a very nice outfit, and we looked stunning together before the candles and mirrors went all strange. I still can't quite believe how stunning we looked. Or what happened while we were there. It'd be nice to think it was the drink at work, but I didn't touch a drop.

The future of Redreef Shores is decided. I have set the course for my Barony, as is my right. I will ensure the safety and prosperity of my subjects and my family. It is written and thus sworn.

Necklaces? I do have a necklace that once suited me. Nothing special! A few pretty pearls strung on either side of a funnily lopsided piece of coral. -but my fondness for it has waned and setting it aside after wearing it so routinely day after day, I feel bare and vulnerable without it.

Strange. Fascinating. Unique. I don't know if I'll ever go again, but I feel a bit like I've crossed the experience off my list of 'to-dos'.
My eyes still hurt, and not a one of us drank.
So strange.
