A particularly enticing bunch hung from a high branch, and Fox couldn't help but to jump for it. Fox missed by a long ways. So Fox walked off a few steps, and then took a running jump, and still, Fox fell short. Again and again, Fox tried, and each time it was in vain.
In frustration, Fox sat and looked at the grapes in disgust. 'I must be a fool,' Fox said. 'Here I am, jumping myself ragged, for a bunch of grapes hardly worth looking at, probably sour on the vine.'
Abandoning the endeavor, Fox skulked off to nurse its scorn.

Besides, do you really think the world is ready for whatever might spawn from Talen and I?

I watch them work with pride, I watch as they laugh and joke, praise each other and offer support. Someone asked me about the competitive nature of the crafters and I laughed openly. There's little in the way of it, we're more apt to share techniques than we are to be competitive over such things. Maybe over being the first to discover something but that's the only thing I can recall.
They are all so -different- from each other. Do they know how talented they are, how special it is that even those of the same profession have completely different tastes and styles? That I can spot, generally, who made what by the nature of their hands, the experience they put into their work?
I am so proud, so very proud, that they are all unique and yet cohesive. They never hesitate to step forward for help, they don't look at me like a boss, but as someone they know will help them. It's a trust I find sacred and feel absolutely honored to have.
Forgive the tears, scholar. The Crafters Guild has become my family and I cannot thank the gods enough for them.

Still, it's nice to see her around and about in Arx now starting up her new law practice and everything! Our youthful spats are just water under the Sovereign Bridge now and it's up to me to make sure she doesn't lead a completely boring life barricaded in by textbooks and whatever in her office.
Speaking of, I need to get her a good officewarming present after the siege is over.

Don't you forget to take care of yourself as well, my friend. Does no good if we're the last ones we see to, yes?

As the man standing closest to him while he gave his vows, I will stake my honor on his giddiness.
But he's welcome to call for a champion if he likes.

But we consigned an Abyssal enemy to Lagoma's fire tonight. We are not powerless.

It was an enjoyable wedding ceremony although and I appreciate Brother Aleksei of the Faith for officiating it. It did not seem prudent to hold such an affair in the midst of a siege, but one must find their hope where they are able. Or provide hope in what ways they are able. What began in the planning stages as a small, intimate ordeal apparently became something far greater judging by the number of individuals who made an appearance at the ceremony. Or we simply sent more invitations that I recalled there being to begin with. Regardless, I was humbled by those who attended, from High Lords to commoners who wished to be present to see my wife, be married. She looked marvelous, of course. I'd be remiss not to mention that fact.
There were also knights present to act as an honor guard. There were banners. My wife convinced Judge to wear a flower garland without eating it. There was armor. There were no horns though. Overall it was a successful ceremony to make the Oathlander in me proud.
So now I begin my new path as the Marquis of Deepwood. The wood is deep, thus it leaves one serene.

Marquessa and now-Marquis Rymarr were ridiculously giddy about the whole thing, so that gets added to the success column.
I look a little silly in robes. Still not used to that bit.

Relationship Note on Niamh
I don't really know how I feel about this.
There's part of me that's so proud, that feels /full/, at seeing someone I love step up to try to push back the darkness. Gods know, once there were dozens of Orders out there, each with their own goals -- some seeking knowledge, some seeking power, yes, but many of them seeking just to keep the world from ending. Seeking to keep humanity alive.
We could use that again, with the darkness rising.
But I've lost so many people, too. My father dead. Vincere and Pietro dead. Dawn missing. The list goes on.
The idea of the woman I love putting herself in harm's way like that... it makes me uneasy. Selfish as that is, it does.
But I'll put that aside, and cheer as loudly as any others.
(Though this is, I imagine, how people feel about Ashfords much of the time; I can't imagine my own adventuring leaves Nia sleeping entirely easily, either...)
