I made a friend! Apparently writing journals is a thing you do in the city. I think I will give it a try now that I am here. I would like to maintain if I do open a shop I have the perfect name for it since a friend seems convinced it will be such a hit. Granted, Aodhan's Remorse isn't the most welcoming title for an apothecary's shop.

I am proud to see Ysbail's hard work and determination pay off. She made a plan, executed it well, and brought the Blackwoods into the fold of the Compact without issue. She is a shining example of what you can do when you put your mind to it and I'm happy to welcome Ysbail and her family to Arx.

As I grow nearer and nearer to a year of penance, I feel myself thinking even more about it than I did when it first started. Its an interesting journey to be on, and its certainly made me think about things in a way I never have before.

Relationship Note on Serafine
I am sure Meowlarice is a cat. I am sure of it, because her mother was a cat as well and that is how it's passed down by my reckoning. As long as they stay in the yard I don't mind a lot of cats.
We always had at least one cat and sometimes more at home, and my nan and then my mom always fed some cats from the street, as they help with such things as mice and rats, which I hear there's a lot of these days. I hear they'll keep the elves away too, and from what I hear that's more often a good thing than not.

I've spent a great deal of time these past few weeks doing research in the archives. It's not something I'd have thought I would be doing a year ago. Truthfully, I tend to feel like it's a fruitless effort. I've never been one to favor giving up, so continue I shall.

An unfortunate end. I did not know her well, but what I did know of her is that she was fierce and strong. It's my hope that she forced whomever slew her and those she was with to be able to do so only after exacting a hefty toll.

I attended a medal ceremony held by the Valardins. It was very good seeing so many familiar faces which I feel as though I've grown distant from. While they were unable to be present, two of my sisters earned medals for their services prior to and during the siege. Well earned. Themselves and all of the others who were likewise given praise.

The gray forest is in such terrible state between the blight and the shavs left behind. What makes a people turn to cannibalism, making armor of human hide, and enslaving their own people? I suppose its moot as we killed those that attacked us and could be found. Anyone who cares to bitch about my slaughtering in this case can kiss my bronze-skinned ass. They brought it on themselves and the children and old people we saved didn't complain any. Still, it was too easy. I miss the challenge of bringers.

I don't make friends very well, but I like Malvici, she's good stuff.
Fixed my leg, needed it. And she's easy to talk to, don't know where she gets the idea that she's not.
Seems to think she can drink better than me, or any Redrain for that matter. That's fine, I'll let her down easy.
Met her a couple of times previously, but never really had the chance to have a real conversation with her. We got enough shit in common, and not all for the best reasons ever. Like looking at things through the bottom of a bottle and that's not all bad. So I have to say, I don't have a lot of close friends, or many friends in general, but I'd say she's one of them.
Can't ask for much more than that.

Reading all these white journals, and I'm amazed at the honesty displayed therein. It goes straight to my heart, makes me positively giddy with excitement. I'm making lists of names. It's titled "People of Interest". I'll be sure to track all individuals there-in and offer the listening ear they seem to beg for.
