For me, sun exposure does not lead to the golden skin of my cousins, but to freckling and burning instead. I confine myself to shady spaces for safety most of the time.

In general I am a child of Winter. The quiet, the peacefulness, the brightness of the night sky. It makes me more whole, and brings me closer to Him.

This year however I am more than ready for Spring.

The weather has been nice with the shift to a new season. While I like the winter, it is still nice to see flowers coming forth once more. It also means less garments I must wear to keep comfortable. With all that in mind, I think I'm going to try my hand with hunting and fishing a bit this week to calm my mind.

The scholars won't let me tear up my last journal entry so I'll have to add a new one...I'm fine, nothing is any worse today than it was yesterday as far as I know, I just had a bad night. I'm sorry to have worried anyone.

Relationship Note on Reese

Few are such a swirl of planning and activity as Princess Reese of Grayson. How she can manage a military meeting of her House, with its cacophony of side comments, suggestions, and questions is beyond me. But this will be my second deployment under her command, and I am pleased to do it.

I got into the head of a giant today (no crude puns intended), or rather its skull, a huge, big , giant one that could hold a few people if they did not mind being a little friendly. And scary stories got told by Duchess General Calypso and Sparte. I guess if you are going to hear scary stories, being inside a giant's skull is a perfect place for them. I hope if I have dreams tonight, they will be peaceful ones.

What's that thing I used to say? "Talk talk talk, too much talk by nobles..." Blah blah blah. "Things aren't solved by endless words in the council chamber".

How the mighty have fallen. Suppose I need to start fucking about with some other saying.

There is is overriding scent of bacon that seems to be permeating the office of the Adjutant. Dame Thena, is the ermine to blame? The dog? Or is it to do with recent talk of breakfast sandwiches? I don't understand.

I find it sad that by not talking about who I sleep with, that makes me mysterious. Take your bitterness elsewhere and be done with it.

Sending my lads and ladies out again soon. I always worry like a mother hen, vulture though I am. They still care for their ugly ass little chicks all the same. I train them as best as I can and trust them to do Southport proud but I always worry. I know they won't all come back to me, I know they will see blood and pain and lose people they care about. All we can do is prepare them for this so they lose as little as possible. Keep 'em from meeting the Queen, Lagoma keep their life in their bodies. Greedy mother fuckers, are we.

I was in a garden, the most beautiful garden I've ever seen, and I saw the tree. It was a proud, strange tree, standing high, and from it, shimmering, a fruit made of glistening crystal. Just one, dancing in the sunlight.

And then he came, the golden man, shining like the sun. The lord of the garden. He plucked the fruit for me. He offered it to me. I wanted it, but I shouldn't have accepted, not when I didn't know what he was giving me. No matter how brightly he shone.

The world turned inside-out, and I was drowning in moonlight. I was drowning. I was at the end, but also at the beginning, because beginnings are the reversal of endings, like being on the far side of a looking glass. I looked out over a field of bones, and I was afraid, because I didn't know how anyone could find me and take me home again.

As I woke up, I heard someone whispering in my ear. I wish I could remember what they said.

I met a Lord named Logan, he was going to bury his dead friend on a mountain and wanted some pointers how to survive if it comes to it. I showed him the basics, starting fires, making shelters in short order, finding water. Hope he'll be alright.

I met a Princess named Valencia, I didnt expect a Princess to be so nice to me, I keep expecting her to ask something of me but she seems honest in her intentions. Spending time with her has allowed me to meet others in the city too, so double bonus I guess, pretty girls and new contacts.

I met found Maeve here! Hers was one of the villiages we traded with and would protect in dangerous times. We knew a few tribes like this, typically ours were more focused on combat so we would trade for food with them usually, where we would charge others in coin. I didn't think I'd find her here, owning a shop, but I am glad to see her, she was always pretty, and really smart in ways that I am not.

Arx is quite the city! I've never seen anything so big before, not man-made, and there are so many people, most of them are nothing like I am used to but there's some Redrain here. Still, there's not the connection to nature that I'm used to, but the people are pretty nice, overal.
